Lazy save and restore of FP/Altivec means that a userspace process can be sent to userspace with FP or Altivec disabled and loaded only as required (by way of an FP/Altivec unavailable exception). Transactional Memory complicates this situation as a transaction could be started without FP/Altivec being loaded up. This causes the hardware to checkpoint incorrect registers. Handling FP/Altivec unavailable exceptions while a thread is transactional requires a reclaim and recheckpoint to ensure the CPU has correct state for both sets of registers. Lazy save and restore of FP/Altivec cannot be done if a process is transactional. If a facility was enabled it must remain enabled whenever a thread is transactional. Commit |

Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
