This adds interrupt functionality for i2c chips to the driver.
They can act as a interrupt-controller and generate interrupts, if
the inputs change.
This is tested with a mcp23017 chip on an arm based platform.
v3:
- be a bit more clear that the irq functionality is also available
on spi versions of the chips, but the linux driver does not support
this yet
v2:
- some more word about irq-mirror property in binding doc
- use of_read_bool instead of of_find_property for
"interrupt-contrller" and "irq-mirror"
- cache the "interrupt-controller" for remove function
- do set the irq-mirror bit only if device is marked as
interrupt-controller
- do create the irq mapping and setup of irq_desc of all possible
interrupts in probe path instead of in gpio_to_irq
- mark gpios as in use as interrupts in irq in irq_startup and
unlock it in irq_shutdown
- rename virq to child_irq
- remove dev argument from mcp23s08_irq_setup function
- move gpiochip_add before mcp23s08_irq_setup in probe path

Some of Qualcomm's clocks can change their parent and rate at the
same time with a single register write. Add support for this
hardware to the common clock framework by adding a new
set_rate_and_parent() op. When the clock framework determines
that both the parent and the rate are going to change during
clk_set_rate() it will call the .set_rate_and_parent() op if
available and fall back to calling .set_parent() followed by
.set_rate() otherwise.

device_type is deprecated and the kernel doesn't require it in most
cases. The only exceptions for flat tree users are the "gianfar",
"ucc_geth" and "ibm, emac" bindings, and arguably that requirement could
be relaxed for ucc_geth and ibm, emac (that is a task for separate
patches though).
This patch removes references to device_type="network" from the binding
documentation where possible and removes the properties from ARM and
microblaze dts files. This patch does not modify the powerpc .dts files
since there are a much larger number of them affected and I think the
ucc_geth, ibm, emac and gianfar users should be addressed before clearing
out the references to reduce the chance of breakage.

because the system has run out of memory at boot time. This occurs
because of the following sequence in the boot:
Main kernel boots and sets E820 map. The second kernel is booted with a
map generated by the kdump service using memmap= and memmap=exactmap.
These parameters are added to the kernel parameters of the kexec/kdump
kernel. The kexec/kdump kernel has limited memory resources so as not
to severely impact the main kernel.
The system then panics and the kdump/kexec kernel boots (which is a
completely new kernel boot). During this boot ACPI is initialized and the
kernel (as can be seen above) traverses the ACPI namespace and finds an
entry for a memory device to be hotadded.

At this point the kernel adds page table information and the the kexec/kdump
kernel runs out of memory.
This can also be reproduced by using the memmap=exactmap and mem=X
parameters on the main kernel and booting.
This patchset resolves the problem by adding a kernel parameter,
acpi_no_memhotplug, to disable ACPI memory hotplug.

Add disable_cpu_apicid kernel parameter. To use this kernel parameter,
specify an initial APIC ID of the corresponding CPU you want to
disable.
This is mostly used for the kdump 2nd kernel to disable BSP to wake up
multiple CPUs without causing system reset or hang due to sending INIT
from AP to BSP.
Kdump users first figure out initial APIC ID of the BSP, CPU0 in the
1st kernel, for example from /proc/cpuinfo and then set up this kernel
parameter for the 2nd kernel using the obtained APIC ID.
However, doing this procedure at each boot time manually is awkward,
which should be automatically done by user-land service scripts, for
example, kexec-tools on fedora/RHEL distributions.
This design is more flexible than disabling BSP in kernel boot time
automatically in that in kernel boot time we have no choice but
referring to ACPI/MP table to obtain initial APIC ID for BSP, meaning
that the method is not applicable to the systems without such BIOS
tables.
One assumption behind this design is that users get initial APIC ID of
the BSP in still healthy state and so BSP is uniquely kept in
CPU0. Thus, through the kernel parameter, only one initial APIC ID can
be specified.
In a comparison with disabled_cpu_apicid, we use read_apic_id(), not
boot_cpu_physical_apicid, because on some platforms, the variable is
modified to the apicid reported as BSP through MP table and this
function is executed with the temporarily modified
boot_cpu_physical_apicid. As a result, disabled_cpu_apicid kernel
parameter doesn't work well for apicids of APs.
Fixing the wrong handling of boot_cpu_physical_apicid requires some
reviews and tests beyond some platforms and it could take some
time. The fix here is a kind of workaround to focus on the main topic
of this patch.

Pull clocksource/clockevent updates from Daniel Lezcano:
* Axel Lin removed an unused structure defining the ids for the
bcm kona driver.
* Ezequiel Garcia enabled the timer divider only when the 25MHz
timer is not used for the armada 370 XP.
* Jingoo Han removed a pointless platform data initialization for
the sh_mtu and sh_mtu2.
* Laurent Pinchart added the clk_prepare/clk_unprepare for sh_cmt.
* Linus Walleij added a useful warning in clk_of when no clocks
are found while the old behavior was to silently hang at boot time.
* Maxime Ripard added the high speed timer drivers for the
Allwinner SoCs (A10, A13, A20). He increased the rating, shared the
irq across all available cpus and fixed the clockevent's irq
initialization for the sun4i.
* Michael Opdenacker removed the usage of the IRQF_DISABLED for the
all the timers driver located in drivers/clocksource.
* Stephen Boyd switched to sched_clock_register for the
arm_global_timer, cadence_ttc, sun4i and orion timers.

The default audit_backlog_limit is 64. This was a reasonable limit at one time.
systemd causes so much audit queue activity on startup that auditd doesn't
start before the backlog queue has already overflowed by more than a factor of
2. On a system with audit= not set on the kernel command line, this isn't an
issue since that history isn't kept for auditd when it is available. On a
system with audit=1 set on the kernel command line, kaudit tries to keep that
history until auditd is able to drain the queue.
This default can be changed by the "-b" option in audit.rules once the system
has booted, but won't help with lost messages on boot.
One way to solve this would be to increase the default backlog queue size to
avoid losing any messages before auditd is able to consume them. This would
be overkill to the embedded community and insufficient for some servers.
Another way to solve it might be to add a kconfig option to set the default
based on the system type. An embedded system would get the current (or
smaller) default, while Workstations might get more than now and servers might
get more.
None of these solutions helps if a system's compiled default is too small to
see the lost messages without compiling a new kernel.
This patch adds a kernel set-up parameter (audit already has one to
enable/disable it) "audit_backlog_limit=<n>" that overrides the default to
allow the system administrator to set the backlog limit.

This new ip_no_pmtu_disc mode only allowes fragmentation-needed errors
to be honored by protocols which do more stringent validation on the
ICMP's packet payload. This knob is useful for people who e.g. want to
run an unmodified DNS server in a namespace where they need to use pmtu
for TCP connections (as they are used for zone transfers or fallback
for requests) but don't want to use possibly spoofed UDP pmtu information.
Currently the whitelisted protocols are TCP, SCTP and DCCP as they check
if the returned packet is in the window or if the association is valid.

While forwarding we should not use the protocol path mtu to calculate
the mtu for a forwarded packet but instead use the interface mtu.
We mark forwarded skbs in ip_forward with IPSKB_FORWARDED, which was
introduced for multicast forwarding. But as it does not conflict with
our usage in unicast code path it is perfect for reuse.
I moved the functions ip_sk_accept_pmtu, ip_sk_use_pmtu and ip_skb_dst_mtu
along with the new ip_dst_mtu_maybe_forward to net/ip.h to fix circular
dependencies because of IPSKB_FORWARDED.
Because someone might have written a software which does probe
destinations manually and expects the kernel to honour those path mtus
I introduced a new per-namespace "ip_forward_use_pmtu" knob so someone
can disable this new behaviour. We also still use mtus which are locked on a
route for forwarding.
The reason for this change is, that path mtus information can be injected
into the kernel via e.g. icmp_err protocol handler without verification
of local sockets. As such, this could cause the IPv4 forwarding path to
wrongfully emit fragmentation needed notifications or start to fragment
packets along a path.
Tunnel and ipsec output paths clear IPCB again, thus IPSKB_FORWARDED
won't be set and further fragmentation logic will use the path mtu to
determine the fragmentation size. They also recheck packet size with
help of path mtu discovery and report appropriate errors.

Improve cache_status to emit:
<metadata block size> <#used metadata blocks>/<#total metadata blocks>
<cache block size> <#used cache blocks>/<#total cache blocks>
...
Adding the block sizes allows for easier calculation of the overall size
of both the metadata and cache devices. Adding <#total cache blocks>
provides useful context for how much of the cache is used.
Unfortunately these additions to the status will require updates to
users' scripts that monitor the cache status. But these changes help
provide more comprehensive information about the cache device and will
simplify tools that are being developed to manage dm-cache devices --
because they won't need to issue 3 operations to cobble together the
information that we can easily provide via a single status ioctl.
While updating the status documentation in cache.txt spaces were
tabify'd.

This patch implements a device-tree-only CPU DAI driver for Freescale ESAI
controller that supports:
- 12 channels playback and 8 channels record.
[ Some of the inner transmitters and receivers are sharing same group of
pins. So the maxmium 12 output or 8 input channels are only valid if
there is no pin conflict occurring to it. ]
- Independent (asynchronous mode) or shared (synchronous mode) transmit and
receive sections with separate or shared internal/external clocks and frame
syncs, operating in Master or Slave mode.
[ Current ALSA seems not to allow CPU DAI drivers to configure DAI format
separately for PLAYBACK and CAPTURE. So this first version only supports
the case that uses the same DAI format for both directions. ]
- Various DAI formats: I2S, Left-Justified, Right-Justified, DSP-A and DSP-B.
- Programmable word length (8, 16, 20 or 24bits)
- Flexible selection between system clock or external oscillator as input
clock source, programmable internal clock divider and frame sync generation.

"One example would be a driver trying an SMBus Block Write

However, the actual implementation of i2c subsystem truncates
data length to be 32 bytes.

GCC is correct. See, the call chain that GCC detects must be
main()
amt_host_if_init()
mei_init()
mei_deinit()
But when we enter mei_deinit() struct amt_host_if acmd is still
unitialized. That makes the test for (effectively) amt_host_if->mei_cl->fd
bogus.
But it turns out that call of mei_deinit() isn't needed at all. All of
the members of mei_cl will be set later in mei_init() and none will be
used before they are set. So we can simply drop this call of
mei_deinit().

This attribute can be used to set and read the value and the
mask of the skb mark which will be used to classify the
source non-mesh client as ISOLATED. In this way a client can
be advertised as such and the mark can potentially be
restored at the receiving node before delivering the skb.
This can be helpful for creating network wide netfilter
policies.
This sysfs file expects a string of the shape "$mark/$mask".
Where $mark has to be a 32-bit number in any base, while
$mask must be a 32bit mask expressed in hex base. Only bits
in $mark covered by the bitmask are really stored.

SoC family definitions at the moment are reactive to board needs.
This results in potentially wrong matches taking place for board types.
Eventually, we will have descriptors match only with SoC types and
should not contain anything specific to board handling and pave the
way to getting rid of soc_is_XYZ checks and allow this determination
done with matches at of level.
Existing implicit definitions(as part of board descriptions) are
explicitly documented.
NOTE: Even though we prefer to have dt compatibility to explicit,
"ti,dra7xx", "ti,am33xx", "ti,omap36xx" preexist in current dts and
are maintained for backward compatibility. It is also expected that

Internally the mq policy maintains a promotion threshold variable. If
the hit count of a block not in the cache goes above this threshold it
gets promoted to the cache.
This patch introduces three new tunables that allow you to tweak the
promotion threshold by adding a small value. These adjustments depend
on the io type:
read_promote_adjustment: READ io, default 4
write_promote_adjustment: WRITE io, default 8
discard_promote_adjustment: READ/WRITE io to a discarded block, default 1
If you're trying to quickly warm a new cache device you may wish to
reduce these to encourage promotion. Remember to switch them back to
their defaults after the cache fills though.

netfilter/IPVS updates for net-next
The following patchset contains Netfilter updates for your net-next tree,
they are:
* Add full port randomization support. Some crazy researchers found a way
to reconstruct the secure ephemeral ports that are allocated in random mode
by sending off-path bursts of UDP packets to overrun the socket buffer of
the DNS resolver to trigger retransmissions, then if the timing for the
DNS resolution done by a client is larger than usual, then they conclude
that the port that received the burst of UDP packets is the one that was
opened. It seems a bit aggressive method to me but it seems to work for
them. As a result, Daniel Borkmann and Hannes Frederic Sowa came up with a
new NAT mode to fully randomize ports using prandom.
* Add a new classifier to x_tables based on the socket net_cls set via
cgroups. These includes two patches to prepare the field as requested by
Zefan Li. Also from Daniel Borkmann.
* Use prandom instead of get_random_bytes in several locations of the
netfilter code, from Florian Westphal.
* Allow to use the CTA_MARK_MASK in ctnetlink when mangling the conntrack
mark, also from Florian Westphal.
* Fix compilation warning due to unused variable in IPVS, from Geert
Uytterhoeven.
* Add support for UID/GID via nfnetlink_queue, from Valentina Giusti.
* Add IPComp extension to x_tables, from Fan Du.

This adds pci_enable_msi_range(), which supersedes the pci_enable_msi()
and pci_enable_msi_block() MSI interfaces.
It also adds pci_enable_msix_range(), which supersedes the
pci_enable_msix() MSI-X interface.
The old interfaces have three categories of return values:
negative: failure; caller should not retry
positive: failure; value indicates number of interrupts that *could*
have been allocated, and caller may retry with a smaller request
zero: success; at least as many interrupts allocated as requested
It is error-prone to handle these three cases correctly in drivers.
The new functions return either a negative error code or a number of
successfully allocated MSI/MSI-X interrupts, which is expected to lead to
clearer device driver code.
pci_enable_msi(), pci_enable_msi_block() and pci_enable_msix() still exist
unchanged, but are deprecated and may be removed after callers are updated.

This creates an MSI-X counterpart for pci_msi_vec_count(). Device drivers
can use this function to obtain maximum number of MSI-X interrupts the
device supports and use that number in a subsequent call to
pci_enable_msix().
pci_msix_vec_count() supersedes pci_msix_table_size() and returns a
negative errno if device does not support MSI-X interrupts. After this
update, callers must always check the returned value.

which is also updated by this change.

It would be useful e.g. in a server or desktop environment to have
a facility in the notion of fine-grained "per application" or "per
application group" firewall policies. Probably, users in the mobile,
embedded area (e.g. Android based) with different security policy
requirements for application groups could have great benefit from
that as well. For example, with a little bit of configuration effort,
an admin could whitelist well-known applications, and thus block
otherwise unwanted "hard-to-track" applications like [1] from a
user's machine. Blocking is just one example, but it is not limited
to that, meaning we can have much different scenarios/policies that
netfilter allows us than just blocking, e.g. fine grained settings
where applications are allowed to connect/send traffic to, application
traffic marking/conntracking, application-specific packet mangling,
and so on.
Implementation of PID-based matching would not be appropriate
as they frequently change, and child tracking would make that
even more complex and ugly. Cgroups would be a perfect candidate
for accomplishing that as they associate a set of tasks with a
set of parameters for one or more subsystems, in our case the
netfilter subsystem, which, of course, can be combined with other
cgroup subsystems into something more complex if needed.
As mentioned, to overcome this constraint, such processes could
be placed into one or multiple cgroups where different fine-grained
rules can be defined depending on the application scenario, while
e.g. everything else that is not part of that could be dropped (or
vice versa), thus making life harder for unwanted processes to
communicate to the outside world. So, we make use of cgroups here
to track jobs and limit their resources in terms of iptables
policies; in other words, limiting, tracking, etc what they are
allowed to communicate.
In our case we're working on outgoing traffic based on which local
socket that originated from. Also, one doesn't even need to have
an a-prio knowledge of the application internals regarding their
particular use of ports or protocols. Matching is *extremly*
lightweight as we just test for the sk_classid marker of sockets,
originating from net_cls. net_cls and netfilter do not contradict
each other; in fact, each construct can live as standalone or they
can be used in combination with each other, which is perfectly fine,
plus it serves Tejun's requirement to not introduce a new cgroups
subsystem. Through this, we result in a very minimal and efficient
module, and don't add anything except netfilter code.
One possible, minimal usage example (many other iptables options
can be applied obviously):
1) Configuring cgroups if not already done, e.g.:
mkdir /sys/fs/cgroup/net_cls
mount -t cgroup -o net_cls net_cls /sys/fs/cgroup/net_cls
mkdir /sys/fs/cgroup/net_cls/0
echo 1 > /sys/fs/cgroup/net_cls/0/net_cls.classid
(resp. a real flow handle id for tc)
2) Configuring netfilter (iptables-nftables), e.g.:
iptables -A OUTPUT -m cgroup ! --cgroup 1 -j DROP
3) Running applications, e.g.:
ping 208.67.222.222 <pid:1799>
echo 1799 > /sys/fs/cgroup/net_cls/0/tasks
64 bytes from 208.67.222.222: icmp_seq=44 ttl=49 time=11.9 ms
[...]
ping 208.67.220.220 <pid:1804>
ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted
[...]
echo 1804 > /sys/fs/cgroup/net_cls/0/tasks
64 bytes from 208.67.220.220: icmp_seq=89 ttl=56 time=19.0 ms
[...]
Of course, real-world deployments would make use of cgroups user
space toolsuite, or own custom policy daemons dynamically moving
applications from/to various cgroups.

In default way, we use the ecc_strength/ecc_step size calculated by ourselves
and use all the OOB area.
This patch adds a new property : "fsl,use-minimum-ecc"
If we enable it, we will firstly try to use the datasheet's minimum required
ECC provided by the MTD layer (the ecc_strength_ds/ecc_step_ds fields
in the nand_chip{}). So we may have free space in the OOB area by using the
minimum ECC, and we may support JFFS2 with some SLC NANDs, such as Micron's
SLC NAND.
If we fail to use the minimum ECC, we will use the legacy method to calculate
the ecc_strength and ecc_step size.

But i2c controller instance on which these block's sits lacks an

supporting this controller. This patch adds this support to the driver.

Currently each rbd device is allocated its own major number, which
leads to a hard limit of 230-250 images mapped at once. This commit
adds support for a new single-major device number allocation scheme,
which is hidden behind a new single_major boolean module parameter and
is disabled by default for backwards compatibility reasons. (Old
userspace cannot correctly unmap images mapped under single-major
scheme and would essentially just unmap a random image, if that.)
$ rbd showmapped
id pool image snap device
0 rbd b100 - /dev/rbd0
1 rbd b101 - /dev/rbd1
2 rbd b102 - /dev/rbd2
3 rbd b103 - /dev/rbd3
Old scheme (modprobe rbd):
$ ls -l /dev/rbd*
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 0 Dec 10 12:24 /dev/rbd0
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 252, 0 Dec 10 12:28 /dev/rbd1

brw-rw---- 1 root disk 250, 0 Dec 10 12:24 /dev/rbd3
New scheme (modprobe rbd single_major=Y):
$ ls -l /dev/rbd*
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 0 Dec 10 12:30 /dev/rbd0
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 256 Dec 10 12:30 /dev/rbd1
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 257 Dec 10 12:30 /dev/rbd1p1
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 258 Dec 10 12:30 /dev/rbd1p2
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 259 Dec 10 12:30 /dev/rbd1p3
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 512 Dec 10 12:30 /dev/rbd2
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 513 Dec 10 12:30 /dev/rbd2p1
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 253, 768 Dec 10 12:30 /dev/rbd3
(major 253 was assigned dynamically at module load time)
The new limit is 4096 images mapped at once, and it comes from the fact
that, as before, 256 minor numbers are reserved for each mapping.
(A follow-up commit changes the number of minors reserved and the way
we deal with partitions over that number.)
If single_major is set to true, two new sysfs interfaces show up:
/sys/bus/rbd/{add,remove}_single_major. These are to be used instead
of /sys/bus/rbd/{add,remove}, which are disabled for backwards
compatibility reasons outlined above.

kexec-tools use boot_params for getting the 1st kernel hardware_subarch,
the kexec kernel EFI runtime support also needs to read the old efi_info
from boot_params. Currently it exists in debugfs which is not a good
place for such infomation. Per HPA, we should avoid "sploit debugfs".
In this patch /sys/kernel/boot_params are exported, also the setup_data is
exported as a subdirectory. kexec-tools is using debugfs for hardware_subarch
for a long time now so we're not removing it yet.
Structure is like below:
/sys/kernel/boot_params
|__ data /* boot_params in binary*/
|__ setup_data
| |__ 0 /* the first setup_data node */
| | |__ data /* setup_data node 0 in binary*/
| | |__ type /* setup_data type of setup_data node 0, hex string */
[snip]
|__ version /* boot protocal version (in hex, "0x" prefixed)*/

Old kexec-tools can not load new kernels. The reason is kexec-tools does
not fill efi_info in x86 setup header previously, thus EFI failed to
initialize. In new kexec-tools it will by default to fill efi_info and
pass other EFI required infomation to 2nd kernel so kexec kernel EFI
initialization can succeed finally.
To prevent from breaking userspace, add a new xloadflags bit so
kexec-tools can check the flag and switch to old logic.

This series converts the Tegra DTs and drivers to use the common/
standard DMA and reset bindings, rather than custom bindings. It also
adds complete documentation for the Tegra clock bindings without
actually changing any binding definitions.
This conversion relies on a few sets of patches in branches from outside
the Tegra tree:
1) A patch to add an DMA channel request API which allows deferred probe
to be implemented.
2) A patch to implement a common part of the of_xlate function for DMA
controllers.
3) Some ASoC patches (which in turn rely on (1) above), which support
deferred probe during DMA channel allocation.
4) The Tegra clock driver changes for 3.14.
Consequently, this branch is based on a merge of all of those external
branches.
In turn, this branch is or will be pulled into a few places that either
rely on features introduced here, or would otherwise conflict with the
patches:
a) Tegra's own for-3.14/powergate and for-4.14/dt branches, to avoid
conflicts.
b) The DRM tree, which introduces new code that relies on the reset
controller framework introduced in this branch, and to avoid
conflicts.

New drivers
* HID inclinometer driver.
* DHT11 humidity driver. Note that previous humidity drivers have been in
hwmon, but no one was ever entirely happy with that, and they should find
a more comfortable home in IIO (their original placement in hwmon was my
fault - oops). As this is our first humidity driver, core support is also
added.
New features
* Two of mxs-lradc channels are internally wired to a temperature sensor,
make this explicit in the driver by providing the relevant temperature
channel.
* Add support for blocking IO on buffers.
* Add a data_available call back to the interface between buffer implementations
and the core. This is much cleaner than the old, 'stufftoread' flag.
Implemented in the kfifo buffer.
Cleanups
* Last user of the old event configuration interface is converted and the
old interface dropped. Nice to be rid of this thanks to Lars-Peter's hard
work!
* Replace all remaining instances of the IIO_ST macro with explicit filling
of the scan_type structure within struct iio_chan_spec. This macro was a
bad idea, that rapidly ceased to cover all elements of the structure.
Miss reading of the macro arguements has led to a number of bugs so lets
just get rid of it. The final removal patch is awaiting for some fixes
to make their way into mainline.
In a couple of drivers, no elements of scan_type were even being used so
in those case, it has been dropped entirely.
* Drop a couple of of_match_ptr helper uses in drivers where devicetree is
not optional and hence the structures being protected by this always exist.
* Fix up some cases where data was read from a device in a particular
byte order, but he code placed it into a s16 or similar. These were
highlighted by Sparse.
* Use the new ATTRIBUTE_GROUPS macro to drop some boiler plate in the triggers
core code.
* ad7746 and ad7280a - stop storing buffers on the stack, giving cleaner code
and possibly avoiding issues with i2c bus drivers that assume they can dma
directly into the buffer. Note that this cannot currently happen as the the
i2c_smbus_read_i2c_block_data function has a memcpy from the buffer actually
passed to the bus driver. I missed this element of the commit message
and don't think it is major enough to rebase the iio tree.
* ad5791 and ad5504 stop storing buffers on the stack for an SPI driver.
Unlike the i2c drivers, this is a real issue for SPI drivers which can dma
directly into the buffer supplied.

Pull libata fixes from Tejun Heo:
"There's one interseting commit - "libata, freezer: avoid block device
removal while system is frozen". It's an ugly hack working around a
deadlock condition between driver core resume and block layer device
removal paths through freezer which was made more reproducible by
writeback being converted to workqueue some releases ago. The bug has
nothing to do with libata but it's just an workaround which is easy to
backport. After discussion, Rafael and I seem to agree that we don't
really need kernel freezables - both kthread and workqueue. There are
few specific workqueues which constitute PM operations and require
freezing, which will be converted to use workqueue_set_max_active()
instead. All other kernel freezer uses are planned to be removed,
followed by the removal of kthread and workqueue freezer support,
hopefully.
Others are device-specific fixes. The most notable is the addition of
NO_NCQ_TRIM which is used to disable queued TRIM commands to Micro
M500 SSDs which otherwise suffers data corruption"

This patch adds support for accuracy retrieval on fixed clocks.
It also adds a new dt property called 'clock-accuracy' to define the clock
accuracy.
This can be usefull for oscillator (RC, crystal, ...) definitions which are
always given an accuracy characteristic.
Signed-off-by: Boris BREZILLON <b.brezillon@overkiz.com>
Signed-off-by: Mike Turquette <mturquette@linaro.org>
The clock accuracy is expressed in ppb (parts per billion) and represents
the possible clock drift.
Say you have a clock (e.g. an oscillator) which provides a fixed clock of
20MHz with an accuracy of +- 20Hz. This accuracy expressed in ppb is
20Hz/20MHz = 1000 ppb (or 1 ppm).
Clock users may need the clock accuracy information in order to choose
the best clock (the one with the best accuracy) across several available
clocks.
This patch adds clk accuracy retrieval support for common clk framework by
means of a new function called clk_get_accuracy.
This function returns the given clock accuracy expressed in ppb.
In order to get the clock accuracy, this implementation adds one callback
called recalc_accuracy to the clk_ops structure.
This callback is given the parent clock accuracy (if the clock is not a
root clock) and should recalculate the given clock accuracy.
This callback is optional and may be implemented if the clock is not
a perfect clock (accuracy != 0 ppb).

Renesas ARM based SoC Clock updates for v3.14
Add support for using emev2 SMU clocks with DT
This patch introduces new sysfs entries for users to control the policy of
in-place-updates, namely IPU, in f2fs.
Sometimes f2fs suffers from performance degradation due to its out-of-place
update policy that produces many additional node block writes.
If the storage performance is very dependant on the amount of data writes
instead of IO patterns, we'd better drop this out-of-place update policy.
This patch suggests 5 polcies and their triggering conditions as follows.
[sysfs entry name = ipu_policy]
0: F2FS_IPU_FORCE all the time,
1: F2FS_IPU_SSR if SSR mode is activated,
2: F2FS_IPU_UTIL if FS utilization is over threashold,
3: F2FS_IPU_SSR_UTIL if SSR mode is activated and FS utilization is over
threashold,
4: F2FS_IPU_DISABLE disable IPU. (=default option)
[sysfs entry name = min_ipu_util]
This parameter controls the threshold to trigger in-place-updates.
The number indicates percentage of the filesystem utilization, and used by
F2FS_IPU_UTIL and F2FS_IPU_SSR_UTIL policies.
For more details, see need_inplace_update() in segment.h.

Export fw_vendor, runtime and config table physical addresses to
/sys/firmware/efi/{fw_vendor,runtime,config_table} because kexec kernels
need them.
From EFI spec these 3 variables will be updated to virtual address after
entering virtual mode. But kernel startup code will need the physical
address.

During the last media summit meeting it was decided to move this driver to
staging as the first step to removing it altogether.
Most webcams covered by this driver are now supported by gspca. Nobody has the
hardware to convert the remaining devices to gspca.
This driver needs a major overhaul to have it conform to the latest frameworks
and compliancy tests.
Without hardware, however, this is next to impossible. Given the fact that
this driver seems to be pretty much unused (it has been removed from Fedora
several versions ago and nobody complained about that), we decided to drop
this driver.
This patch moves it to staging. Some time in 2014 we will drop it completely.

In some use cases Zynq's FPGA clocks are used as static clock
generators for IP in the FPGA part of the SOC for which no Linux driver
exists and would control those clocks. To avoid automatic
gating of these clocks in such cases a new property - fclk-enable - is
added to the clock controller's DT description to accomodate such use
cases. It's value is a bitmask, where a set bit results in enabling
the corresponding FCLK through the clkc.
FPGA clocks are handled following the rules below:
If an FCLK is not enabled by bootloaders, that FCLK will be disabled in
Linux. Drivers can enable and control it through the CCF as usual.
If an FCLK is enabled by bootloaders AND the corresponding bit in the
'fclk-enable' DT property is set, that FCLK will be enabled by the clkc,
resulting in an off by one reference count for that clock. Ensuring it
will always be running.

The PCI MSI sysfs code is a mess with kobjects for things that don't really
need to be kobjects. This patch creates attributes dynamically for the MSI
interrupts instead of using kobjects.
Note, this removes a directory from sysfs. Old MSI kobjects:
pci_device
└── msi_irqs
└── 40
└── mode
New MSI attributes:
pci_device
└── msi_irqs
└── 40
As there was only one file "mode" with the kobject model, the interrupt
number is now a file that returns the "mode" of the interrupt (msi vs.
msix).

VFIO currently allocates it's own dynamic chardev range, reserving the
first minor for the control part of the interface (/dev/vfio/vfio) and
the remainder for VFIO groups (/dev/vfio/$GROUP). This works, but it
doesn't support auto loading. For instance when libvirt checks for
VFIO support it looks for /dev/vfio/vfio, which currently doesn't
exist unless the vfio module is loaded. By converting the control
device to a misc driver and reserving a static minor, we can enable
auto loading.
Reserving the minor is a prerequist to that conversion. Minor 196
is unused by anything currently in the kernel.

After getting warnings in an allyesconfig build[1] from this
driver, I decided to remind myself just how old it was, and
whether it warranted fixing. In the Kconfig help text, I found:
"This driver will eventually be phased out entirely"
Going back to the history archive, I see the line was added[2]
in Feb 2002, when we moved from v2.4.2.1 ---> v2.4.2.2
So, with over a decade of notification, and multiple major releases
since then, I think we can justify removing this. Currently we have
people wasting time building it during routine testing, and then
wasting more time re-researching the known reported warnings, only to
find that nobody really is willing to integrate the fixes[3] for it.
A quick search didn't seem to indicate any active user base for it.
If someone happens to have a quirky _old_ card that the eleven year
old "new" driver doesn't work with, then it is entirely reasonable
that they stick with a kernel version that predates this removal.

"There are four items:
- A patch to fix X.509 certificate gathering. The problem was that I
was coming up with a different path for signing_key.x509 in the

that the X.509 cert container object file would be rebuilt on the
second rebuild in a build directory and the kernel would get
relinked.
- Unconditionally remove files generated by SYSTEM_TRUSTED_KEYRING=y
when doing make mrproper.
- Actually initialise the persistent-keyring semaphore for
init_user_ns. I have no idea why this works at all for users in
the base user namespace unless it's something to do with systemd
containerising the system.

When I added support for ACPI5 I made the assumption that
injected processor errors would just need to know the APICID,
memory errors just the address and mask, and PCIe errors just the
segment/bus/device/function. So I had the code check the type of injection
and multiplex the "param1" value appropriately.
This was not a good assumption :-(
There are injection scenarios where we need to specify more than one of
these items. E.g. injecting a cache error we need to specify an APICID
of the cpu that owns the cache, and also an address (so that we can trip
the error by accessing the address).
Add a "flags" file to give the user direct access to specify which items
are valid in the ACPI SET_ERROR_TYPE_WITH_ADDRESS structure. Also add
new files param3 and param4 to hold all these values.
For backwards compatability with old injection scripts we maintain the
old behaviour if flags remains set at zero (or is reset to 0).

This conversion relies on a few sets of patches in branches from outside

1) A patch to add an DMA channel request API which allows deferred probe

Historically, an UNLOCK+LOCK pair executed by one CPU, by one
task, or on a given lock variable has implied a full memory
barrier. In a recent LKML thread, the wisdom of this historical
approach was called into question:
http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-mm/msg65653.html, in part due
to the memory-order complexities of low-handoff-overhead queued
locks on x86 systems.
This patch therefore removes this guarantee from the
documentation, and further documents how to restore it via a new
smp_mb__after_unlock_lock() primitive.

The Documentation/memory-barriers.txt file was written before
the need for ACCESS_ONCE() was fully appreciated. It therefore
contains no ACCESS_ONCE() calls, which can be a problem when
people lift examples from it. This commit therefore adds

Use the preferred style sizeof(VARIABLE) instead of sizeof(TYPE) in the

1) Revert CHECKSUM_COMPLETE optimization in pskb_trim_rcsum(), I can't
figure out why it breaks things.
2) Fix comparison in netfilter ipset's hash_netnet4_data_equal(), it
was basically doing "x == x", from Dave Jones.
3) Freescale FEC driver was DMA mapping the wrong number of bytes, from
Sebastian Siewior.
4) Blackhole and prohibit routes in ipv6 were not doing the right thing
because their ->input and ->output methods were not being assigned
correctly. Now they behave properly like their ipv4 counterparts.
From Kamala R.
5) Several drivers advertise the NETIF_F_FRAGLIST capability, but
really do not support this feature and will send garbage packets if
fed fraglist SKBs. From Eric Dumazet.
6) Fix long standing user triggerable BUG_ON over loopback in RDS
protocol stack, from Venkat Venkatsubra.
7) Several not so common code paths can potentially try to invoke
packet scheduler actions that might be NULL without checking. Shore
things up by either 1) defining a method as mandatory and erroring
on registration if that method is NULL 2) defininig a method as
optional and the registration function hooks up a default
implementation when NULL is seen. From Jamal Hadi Salim.
8) Fix fragment detection in xen-natback driver, from Paul Durrant.
9) Kill dangling enter_memory_pressure method in cg_proto ops, from
Eric W Biederman.

from Hannes Frederic Sowa.
11) IOCB file position is not being updated by macvtap_aio_read() and
tun_chr_aio_read(). From Zhi Yong Wu.
12) Don't free virtio_net netdev before releasing all of the NAPI
instances. From Andrey Vagin.
13) Procfs entry leak in xt_hashlimit, from Sergey Popovich.
14) IPv6 routes that are no cached routes should not count against the
garbage collection limits. We had this almost right, but were
missing handling addrconf generated routes properly. From Hannes
Frederic Sowa.
15) fib{4,6}_rule_suppress() have to consider potentially seeing NULL
route info when they are called, from Stefan Tomanek.
16) TUN and MACVTAP have had truncated packet signalling for some time,
