65c9362859 bpftool: Add struct_ops support
This patch adds struct_ops support to the bpftool.

To recap a bit on the recent bpf_struct_ops feature on the kernel side:
It currently supports "struct tcp_congestion_ops" to be implemented
in bpf. At a high level, bpf_struct_ops is struct_ops map populated
with a number of bpf progs. bpf_struct_ops currently supports the
"struct tcp_congestion_ops". However, the bpf_struct_ops design is
generic enough that other kernel struct ops can be supported in
the future.

Although struct_ops is map+progs at a high lever, there are differences
in details.  For example,
1) After registering a struct_ops, the struct_ops is held by the kernel
   subsystem (e.g. tcp-cc). Thus, there is no need to pin a
   struct_ops map or its progs in order to keep them around.
2) To iterate all struct_ops in a system, it iterates all maps
   in type BPF_MAP_TYPE_STRUCT_OPS.  BPF_MAP_TYPE_STRUCT_OPS is
   the current usual filter. In the future, it may need to
   filter by other struct_ops specific properties. e.g. filter by
   tcp_congestion_ops or other kernel subsystem ops in the future.
3) struct_ops requires the running kernel having BTF info. That allows
   more flexibility in handling other kernel structs. e.g. it can
   always dump the latest bpf_map_info.
4) Also, "struct_ops" command is not intended to repeat all features
   already provided by "map" or "prog". For example, if there really
   is a need to pin the struct_ops map, the user can use the "map" cmd
   to do that.

While the first attempt was to reuse parts from map/prog.c, it ended up
not a lot to share. The only obvious item is the map_parse_fds() but
that still requires modifications to accommodate struct_ops map specific
filtering (for the immediate and the future needs). Together with the
earlier mentioned differences, it is better to part away from map/prog.c.

The initial set of subcmds are, register, unregister, show, and dump.

For register, it registers all struct_ops maps that can be found in an
obj file. Option can be added in the future to specify a particular
struct_ops map. Also, the common bpf_tcp_cc is stateless (e.g.
bpf_cubic.c and bpf_dctcp.c). The "reuse map" feature is not
implemented in this patch and it can be considered later also.

For other subcmds, please see the man doc for details.

A sample output of dump:

d5ae04da34 bpftool: Translate prog_id to its bpf prog_name
The kernel struct_ops obj has kernel's func ptrs implemented by bpf_progs.
The bpf prog_id is stored as the value of the func ptr for introspection
purpose. In the latter patch, a struct_ops dump subcmd will be added
to introspect these func ptrs. It is desired to print the actual bpf
prog_name instead of only printing the prog_id.

Since struct_ops is the only usecase storing prog_id in the func ptr,
this patch adds a prog_id_as_func_ptr bool (default is false) to
"struct btf_dumper" in order not to mis-interpret the ptr value
for the other existing use-cases.

While printing a func_ptr as a bpf prog_name,
this patch also prefix the bpf prog_name with the ptr's func_proto.
[ Note that it is the ptr's func_proto instead of the bpf prog's
  func_proto ]
It reuses the current btf_dump_func() to obtain the ptr's func_proto
string.

Here is an example from the bpf_cubic.c:
"void (struct sock *, u32, u32) bictcp_cong_avoid/prog_id:140"

A char[] is currently printed as an integer array.
This patch will print it as a string when
1) The array element type is an one byte int
2) The array element type has a BTF_INT_CHAR encoding or
   the array element type's name is "char"
3) All characters is between (0x1f, 0x7f) and it is terminated

ca7e6e45d1 bpftool: Print the enum's name instead of value
This patch prints the enum's name if there is one found in
the array of btf_enum.

The commit 9eea984979 ("bpf: fix BTF verification of enums")
has details about an enum could have any power-of-2 size (up to 8 bytes).
This patch also takes this chance to accommodate these non 4 byte
enums.

bcd66b10b5 tools/bpf: Move linux/types.h for selftests and bpftool
Commit fe4eb069ed ("bpftool: Use linux/types.h from source tree for
profiler build") added a build dependency on tools/testing/selftests/bpf
to tools/bpf/bpftool. This is suboptimal with respect to a possible
stand-alone build of bpftool.

Fix this by moving tools/testing/selftests/bpf/include/uapi/linux/types.h
to tools/include/uapi/linux/types.h.

This requires an adjustment in the include search path order for the
tests in tools/testing/selftests/bpf so that tools/include/linux/types.h
is selected when building host binaries and
tools/include/uapi/linux/types.h is selected when building bpf binaries.

Verified by compiling bpftool and the bpf selftests on x86_64 with this
change.

In commit 4a3d6c6a6e ("libbpf: Reduce log level for custom section

libbpf_prog_type_by_name() was downgraded from "info" to "debug". The
latter function, in particular, is used by bpftool when attempting to
load programs, and this change caused bpftool to exit with no hint or

75a1e792c3 tools: bpftool: Allow all prog/map handles for pinning objects
Documentation and interactive help for bpftool have always explained
that the regular handles for programs (id|name|tag|pinned) and maps
(id|name|pinned) can be passed to the utility when attempting to pin
objects (bpftool prog pin PROG / bpftool map pin MAP).

THIS IS A LIE!! The tool actually accepts only ids, as the parsing is
done in do_pin_any() in common.c instead of reusing the parsing
functions that have long been generic for program and map handles.

Instead of fixing the doc, fix the code. It is trivial to reuse the
generic parsing, and to simplify do_pin_any() in the process.

Do not accept to pin multiple objects at the same time with
prog_parse_fds() or map_parse_fds() (this would require a more complex
syntax for passing multiple sysfs paths and validating that they
correspond to the number of e.g. programs we find for a given name or
tag).

47c09d6a9f bpftool: Introduce "prog profile" command
With fentry/fexit programs, it is possible to profile BPF program with
hardware counters. Introduce bpftool "prog profile", which measures key
metrics of a BPF program.

bpftool prog profile command creates per-cpu perf events. Then it attaches
fentry/fexit programs to the target BPF program. The fentry program saves
perf event value to a map. The fexit program reads the perf event again,
and calculates the difference, which is the instructions/cycles used by
the target program.

Example input and output:

  ./bpftool prog profile id 337 duration 3 cycles instructions llc_misses

        4228 run_cnt
     3403698 cycles                                              (84.08%)
     3525294 instructions   #  1.04 insn per cycle               (84.05%)
          13 llc_misses     #  3.69 LLC misses per million isns  (83.50%)

This command measures cycles and instructions for BPF program with id
337 for 3 seconds. The program has triggered 4228 times. The rest of the
output is similar to perf-stat. In this example, the counters were only
counting ~84% of the time because of time multiplexing of perf counters.

Note that, this approach measures cycles and instructions in very small
increments. So the fentry/fexit programs introduce noticeable errors to
the measurement results.

The fentry/fexit programs are generated with BPF skeletons. Therefore, we
build bpftool twice. The first time _bpftool is built without skeletons.
Then, _bpftool is used to generate the skeletons. The second time, bpftool
is built with skeletons.

ca7dc2791b bpftool: Add header guards to generated vmlinux.h
Add canonical #ifndef/#define/#endif guard for generated vmlinux.h header with
__VMLINUX_H__ symbol. __VMLINUX_H__ is also going to play double role of
identifying whether vmlinux.h is being used, versus, say, BCC or non-CO-RE
libbpf modes with dependency on kernel headers. This will make it possible to
write helper macro/functions, agnostic to exact BPF program set up.

188a486619 bpftool: Fix missing BTF output for json during map dump
The btf availability check is only done for plain text output.
It causes the whole BTF output went missing when json_output
is used.

This patch simplifies the logic a little by avoiding passing "int btf" to
map_dump().

For plain text output, the btf_wtr is only created when the map has
BTF (i.e. info->btf_id != 0).  The nullness of "json_writer_t *wtr"
in map_dump() alone can decide if dumping BTF output is needed.
As long as wtr is not NULL, map_dump() will print out the BTF-described
data whenever a map has BTF available (i.e. info->btf_id != 0)
regardless of json or plain-text output.

In do_dump(), the "int btf" is also renamed to "int do_plain_btf".

d7de72674a bpftool: Fix a leak of btf object
When testing a map has btf or not, maps_have_btf() tests it by actually
getting a btf_fd from sys_bpf(BPF_BTF_GET_FD_BY_ID). However, it
forgot to btf__free() it.

In maps_have_btf() stage, there is no need to test it by really
calling sys_bpf(BPF_BTF_GET_FD_BY_ID). Testing non zero
info.btf_id is good enough.

Also, the err_close case is unnecessary, and also causes double
close() because the calling func do_dump() will close() all fds again.

1cf5b23988 bpftool: Apply preserve_access_index attribute to all types in BTF dump
This patch makes structs and unions, emitted through BTF dump, automatically
CO-RE-relocatable (unless disabled with `#define BPF_NO_PRESERVE_ACCESS_INDEX`,
specified before including generated header file).

This effectivaly turns usual bpf_probe_read() call into equivalent of
bpf_core_read(), by automatically applying builtin_preserve_access_index to
any field accesses of types in generated C types header.

This is especially useful for tp_btf/fentry/fexit BPF program types. They
allow direct memory access, so BPF C code just uses straightfoward a->b->c
access pattern to read data from kernel. But without kernel structs marked as
CO-RE relocatable through preserve_access_index attribute, one has to enclose
all the data reads into a special __builtin_preserve_access_index code block,
like so:

__builtin_preserve_access_index(({
    x = p->pid; /* where p is struct task_struct *, for example */
}));

This is very inconvenient and obscures the logic quite a bit. By marking all
auto-generated types with preserve_access_index attribute the above code is
reduced to just a clean and natural `x = p->pid;`.

555089fdfc bpftool: Fix printing incorrect pointer in btf_dump_ptr
For plain text output, it incorrectly prints the pointer value
"void *data". The "void *data" is actually pointing to memory that
contains a bpf-map's value. The intention is to print the content of
the bpf-map's value instead of printing the pointer pointing to the
bpf-map's value.

In this case, a member of the bpf-map's value is a pointer type.
Thus, it should print the "*(void **)data".

pull-request: bpf-next 2019-12-27

The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.

We've added 127 non-merge commits during the last 17 day(s) which contain
a total of 110 files changed, 6901 insertions(+), 2721 deletions(-).

There are three merge conflicts. Conflicts and resolution looks as follows:

1) Merge conflict in net/bpf/test_run.c:

There was a tree-wide cleanup c593642c8b ("treewide: Use sizeof_field() macro")
which gets in the way with b590cb5f80 ("bpf: Switch to offsetofend in
BPF_PROG_TEST_RUN"):

  <<<<<<< HEAD
          if (!range_is_zero(__skb, offsetof(struct __sk_buff, priority) +
                             sizeof_field(struct __sk_buff, priority),
  =======
          if (!range_is_zero(__skb, offsetofend(struct __sk_buff, priority),
  >>>>>>> 7c8dce4b16

There are a few occasions that look similar to this. Always take the chunk with
offsetofend(). Note that there is one where the fields differ in here:

  <<<<<<< HEAD
          if (!range_is_zero(__skb, offsetof(struct __sk_buff, tstamp) +
                             sizeof_field(struct __sk_buff, tstamp),
  =======
          if (!range_is_zero(__skb, offsetofend(struct __sk_buff, gso_segs),
  >>>>>>> 7c8dce4b16

Just take the one with offsetofend() /and/ gso_segs. Latter is correct due to
850a88cc40 ("bpf: Expose __sk_buff wire_len/gso_segs to BPF_PROG_TEST_RUN").

2) Merge conflict in arch/riscv/net/bpf_jit_comp.c:

(I'm keeping Bjorn in Cc here for a double-check in case I got it wrong.)

  <<<<<<< HEAD
          if (is_13b_check(off, insn))
                  return -1;
          emit(rv_blt(tcc, RV_REG_ZERO, off >> 1), ctx);
  =======
          emit_branch(BPF_JSLT, RV_REG_T1, RV_REG_ZERO, off, ctx);
  >>>>>>> 7c8dce4b16

Result should look like:

          emit_branch(BPF_JSLT, tcc, RV_REG_ZERO, off, ctx);

3) Merge conflict in arch/riscv/include/asm/pgtable.h:

  <<<<<<< HEAD

  #define VMALLOC_END      (PAGE_OFFSET - 1)

  #define VMEMMAP_START   (VMALLOC_START - VMEMMAP_SIZE)

  #define vmemmap         ((struct page *)VMEMMAP_START)

  >>>>>>> 7c8dce4b16

Only take the BPF_* defines from there and move them higher up in the
same file. Remove the rest from the chunk. The VMALLOC_* etc defines
got moved via 01f52e16b8 ("riscv: define vmemmap before pfn_to_page

Let me know if there are any other issues.

Anyway, the main changes are:

1) Extend bpftool to produce a struct (aka "skeleton") tailored and specific
   to a provided BPF object file. This provides an alternative, simplified API
   compared to standard libbpf interaction. Also, add libbpf extern variable
   resolution for .kconfig section to import Kconfig data, from Andrii Nakryiko.

2) Add BPF dispatcher for XDP which is a mechanism to avoid indirect calls by
   generating a branch funnel as discussed back in bpfconf'19 at LSF/MM. Also,
   add various BPF riscv JIT improvements, from Björn Töpel.

3) Extend bpftool to allow matching BPF programs and maps by name,
   from Paul Chaignon.

4) Support for replacing cgroup BPF programs attached with BPF_F_ALLOW_MULTI
   flag for allowing updates without service interruption, from Andrey Ignatov.

5) Cleanup and simplification of ring access functions for AF_XDP with a
   bonus of 0-5% performance improvement, from Magnus Karlsson.

6) Enable BPF JITs for x86-64 and arm64 by default. Also, final version of
   audit support for BPF, from Daniel Borkmann and latter with Jiri Olsa.

7) Move and extend test_select_reuseport into BPF program tests under
   BPF selftests, from Jakub Sitnicki.

8) Various BPF sample improvements for xdpsock for customizing parameters
   to set up and benchmark AF_XDP, from Jay Jayatheerthan.

9) Improve libbpf to provide a ulimit hint on permission denied errors.
   Also change XDP sample programs to attach in driver mode by default,
   from Toke Høiland-Jørgensen.

10) Extend BPF test infrastructure to allow changing skb mark from tc BPF
    programs, from Nikita V. Shirokov.

11) Optimize prologue code sequence in BPF arm32 JIT, from Russell King.

12) Fix xdp_redirect_cpu BPF sample to manually attach to tracepoints after

7c8dce4b16 bpftool: Make skeleton C code compilable with C++ compiler
When auto-generated BPF skeleton C code is included from C++ application, it
triggers compilation error due to void * being implicitly casted to whatever
target pointer type. This is supported by C, but not C++. To solve this
problem, add explicit casts, where necessary.

To ensure issues like this are captured going forward, add skeleton usage in
test_cpp test.

Work-around what appears to be a bug in rst2man convertion tool, used to

985ead416d bpftool: Add skeleton codegen command
Add `bpftool gen skeleton` command, which takes in compiled BPF .o object file
and dumps a BPF skeleton struct and related code to work with that skeleton.
Skeleton itself is tailored to a specific structure of provided BPF object
file, containing accessors (just plain struct fields) for every map and
program, as well as dedicated space for bpf_links. If BPF program is using
global variables, corresponding structure definitions of compatible memory
layout are emitted as well, making it possible to initialize and subsequently
read/update global variables values using simple and clear C syntax for
accessing fields. This skeleton majorly improves usability of
opening/loading/attaching of BPF object, as well as interacting with it
throughout the lifetime of loaded BPF object.

Generated skeleton struct has the following structure:

struct <object-name> {
	/* used by libbpf's skeleton API */
	struct bpf_object_skeleton *skeleton;
	/* bpf_object for libbpf APIs */
	struct bpf_object *obj;
	struct {
		/* for every defined map in BPF object: */
		struct bpf_map *<map-name>;
	} maps;
	struct {
		/* for every program in BPF object: */
		struct bpf_program *<program-name>;
	} progs;
	struct {
		/* for every program in BPF object: */
		struct bpf_link *<program-name>;
	} links;
	/* for every present global data section: */
	struct <object-name>__<one of bss, data, or rodata> {
		/* memory layout of corresponding data section,
		 * with every defined variable represented as a struct field
		 * with exactly the same type, but without const/volatile
		 * modifiers, e.g.:
		 */
		 int *my_var_1;
		 ...
	} *<one of bss, data, or rodata>;
};

This provides great usability improvements:
- no need to look up maps and programs by name, instead just
  my_obj->maps.my_map or my_obj->progs.my_prog would give necessary
  bpf_map/bpf_program pointers, which user can pass to existing libbpf APIs;
- pre-defined places for bpf_links, which will be automatically populated for
  program types that libbpf knows how to attach automatically (currently
  tracepoints, kprobe/kretprobe, raw tracepoint and tracing programs). On
  tearing down skeleton, all active bpf_links will be destroyed (meaning BPF
  programs will be detached, if they are attached). For cases in which libbpf
  doesn't know how to auto-attach BPF program, user can manually create link
  after loading skeleton and they will be auto-detached on skeleton
  destruction:

	my_obj->links.my_fancy_prog = bpf_program__attach_cgroup_whatever(
		my_obj->progs.my_fancy_prog, <whatever extra param);

- it's extremely easy and convenient to work with global data from userspace
  now. Both for read-only and read/write variables, it's possible to
  pre-initialize them before skeleton is loaded:

	skel = my_obj__open(raw_embed_data);
	my_obj->rodata->my_var = 123;
	my_obj__load(skel); /* 123 will be initialization value for my_var */

  After load, if kernel supports mmap() for BPF arrays, user can still read
  (and write for .bss and .data) variables values, but at that point it will
  be directly mmap()-ed to BPF array, backing global variables. This allows to
  seamlessly exchange data with BPF side. From userspace program's POV, all
  the pointers and memory contents stay the same, but mapped kernel memory
  changes to point to created map.
  If kernel doesn't yet support mmap() for BPF arrays, it's still possible to
  use those data section structs to pre-initialize .bss, .data, and .rodata,
  but after load their pointers will be reset to NULL, allowing user code to
  gracefully handle this condition, if necessary.

ec2025095c bpftool: Match several programs with same tag
When several BPF programs have the same tag, bpftool matches only the
first (in ID order). This patch changes that behavior such that dump and
show commands return all matched programs. Commands that require a single
program (e.g., pin and attach) will error out if given a tag that matches
several. bpftool prog dump will also error out if file or visual are
given and several programs have the given tag.

In the case of the dump command, a program header is added before each
dump only if the tag matches several programs; this patch doesn't change
the output if a single program matches. The output when several
programs match thus looks as follows.

e00aca65e6 libbpf: Make DECLARE_LIBBPF_OPTS macro strictly a variable declaration
LIBBPF_OPTS is implemented as a mix of field declaration and memset

The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.

The main changes are:

1) Add the ability to use unaligned chunks in the AF_XDP umem. By
   relaxing where the chunks can be placed, it allows to use an
   arbitrary buffer size and place whenever there is a free
   address in the umem. Helps more seamless DPDK AF_XDP driver
   integration. Support for i40e, ixgbe and mlx5e, from Kevin and
   Maxim.

2) Addition of a wakeup flag for AF_XDP tx and fill rings so the
   application can wake up the kernel for rx/tx processing which
   avoids busy-spinning of the latter, useful when app and driver
   is located on the same core. Support for i40e, ixgbe and mlx5e,
   from Magnus and Maxim.

3) bpftool fixes for printf()-like functions so compiler can actually
   enforce checks, bpftool build system improvements for custom output
   directories, and addition of 'bpftool map freeze' command, from Quentin.

4) Support attaching/detaching XDP programs from 'bpftool net' command,
   from Daniel.

5) Automatic xskmap cleanup when AF_XDP socket is released, and several
   barrier/{read,write}_once fixes in AF_XDP code, from Björn.

6) Relicense of bpf_helpers.h/bpf_endian.h for future libbpf
   inclusion as well as libbpf versioning improvements, from Andrii.

7) Several new BPF kselftests for verifier precision tracking, from Alexei.

8) Several BPF kselftest fixes wrt endianess to run on s390x, from Ilya.

45c5589d07 tools: bpftool: improve and check builds for different make invocations
There are a number of alternative "make" invocations that can be used to
compile bpftool. The following invocations are expected to work:

  - through the kbuild system, from the top of the repository
    (make tools/bpf)
  - by telling make to change to the bpftool directory
    (make -C tools/bpf/bpftool)
  - by building the BPF tools from tools/
    (cd tools && make bpf)
  - by running make from bpftool directory
    (cd tools/bpf/bpftool && make)

Additionally, setting the O or OUTPUT variables should tell the build
system to use a custom output path, for each of these alternatives.

The following patch fixes the following invocations:

  $ make tools/bpf
  $ make tools/bpf O=<dir>
  $ make -C tools/bpf/bpftool OUTPUT=<dir>
  $ make -C tools/bpf/bpftool O=<dir>
  $ cd tools/ && make bpf O=<dir>
  $ cd tools/bpf/bpftool && make OUTPUT=<dir>
  $ cd tools/bpf/bpftool && make O=<dir>

After this commit, the build still fails for two variants when passing
the OUTPUT variable:

  $ make tools/bpf OUTPUT=<dir>
  $ cd tools/ && make bpf OUTPUT=<dir>

In order to remember and check what make invocations are supposed to
work, and to document the ones which do not, a new script is added to
the BPF selftests. Note that some invocations require the kernel to be

e0a43aa3e4 tools: bpftool: ignore make built-in rules for getting kernel version
Bpftool calls the toplevel Makefile to get the kernel version for the
sources it is built from. But when the utility is built from the top of
the kernel repository, it may dump the following error message for
certain architectures (including x86):

    $ make tools/bpf
    [...]
    make[3]: *** [checkbin] Error 1
    [...]

This does not prevent bpftool compilation, but may feel disconcerting.
The "checkbin" arch-dependent target is not supposed to be called for
target "kernelversion", which is a simple "echo" of the version number.

It turns out this is caused by the make invocation in tools/bpf/bpftool,
which attempts to find implicit rules to apply. Extract from debug
output:

4d374ba0bf tools: bpftool: implement "bpftool btf show|list"
Add a "btf list" (alias: "btf show") subcommand to bpftool in order to
dump all BTF objects loaded on a system.

When running the command, hash tables are built in bpftool to retrieve
all the associations between BTF objects and BPF maps and programs. This
allows for printing all such associations when listing the BTF objects.

The command is added at the top of the subcommands for "bpftool btf", so
that typing only "bpftool btf" also comes down to listing the programs.
We could not have this with the previous command ("dump"), which
required a BTF object id, so it should not break any previous behaviour.
This also makes the "btf" command behaviour consistent with "prog" or
"map".

Bash completion is updated to use "bpftool btf" instead of "bpftool
prog" to list the BTF ids, as it looks more consistent.

Example output (plain):

    # bpftool btf show
    9: size 2989B  prog_ids 21  map_ids 15
    17: size 2847B  prog_ids 36  map_ids 30,29,28

a98bf57391 tools: bpftool: add support for reporting the effective cgroup progs
Takshak said in the original submission:

With different bpf attach_flags available to attach bpf programs specially
with BPF_F_ALLOW_OVERRIDE and BPF_F_ALLOW_MULTI, the list of effective
bpf-programs available to any sub-cgroups really needs to be available for
easy debugging.

Using BPF_F_QUERY_EFFECTIVE flag, one can get the list of not only attached
bpf-programs to a cgroup but also the inherited ones from parent cgroup.

So a new option is introduced to use BPF_F_QUERY_EFFECTIVE query flag here
to list all the effective bpf-programs available for execution at a specified
cgroup.

Reused modified test program test_cgroup_attach from tools/testing/selftests/bpf:
  # ./test_cgroup_attach

With old bpftool:

 # bpftool cgroup show /sys/fs/cgroup/cgroup-test-work-dir/cg1/
  ID       AttachType      AttachFlags     Name
  271      egress          multi           pkt_cntr_1
  272      egress          multi           pkt_cntr_2

Attached new program pkt_cntr_4 in cg2 gives following:

 # bpftool cgroup show /sys/fs/cgroup/cgroup-test-work-dir/cg1/cg2
  ID       AttachType      AttachFlags     Name
  273      egress          override        pkt_cntr_4

And with new "effective" option it shows all effective programs for cg2:

 # bpftool cgroup show /sys/fs/cgroup/cgroup-test-work-dir/cg1/cg2 effective
  ID       AttachType      AttachFlags     Name
  273      egress          override        pkt_cntr_4
  271      egress          override        pkt_cntr_1
  272      egress          override        pkt_cntr_2

Compared to original submission use a local flag instead of global
option.

We need to clear query_flags on every command, in case batch mode
wants to use varying settings.

ba95c74524 tools: bpftool: add "prog run" subcommand to test-run programs
Add a new "bpftool prog run" subcommand to run a loaded program on input
data (and possibly with input context) passed by the user.

Print output data (and output context if relevant) into a file or into
the console. Print return value and duration for the test run into the
console.

A "repeat" argument can be passed to run the program several times in a
row.

The command does not perform any kind of verification based on program
type (Is this program type allowed to use an input context?) or on data
consistency (Can I work with empty input data?), this is left to the
kernel.

Example invocation:

    # perl -e 'print "\x0" x 14' | ./bpftool prog run \
            pinned /sys/fs/bpf/sample_ret0 \
            data_in - data_out - repeat 5
    0000000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000      | ........ ......
    Return value: 0, duration (average): 260ns

When one of data_in or ctx_in is "-", bpftool reads from standard input,
in binary format. Other formats (JSON, hexdump) might be supported (via
an optional command line keyword like "data_fmt_in") in the future if
relevant, but this would require doing more parsing in bpftool.

v2:
- Fix argument names for function check_single_stdin(). (Yonghong)

1884c06657 tools: bpftool: Fix JSON output when lookup fails
In commit 9a5ab8bf1d ("tools: bpftool: turn err() and info() macros
into functions") one case of error reporting was special cased, so it
could report a lookup error for a specific key when dumping the map
element. What the code forgot to do is to wrap the key and value keys
into a JSON object, so an example output of pretty JSON dump of a
sockhash map (which does not support looking up its values) is:

[
    "key": ["0x0a","0x41","0x00","0x02","0x1f","0x78","0x00","0x00"
    ],
    "value": {
        "error": "Operation not supported"
    },
    "key": ["0x0a","0x41","0x00","0x02","0x1f","0x78","0x00","0x01"
    ],
    "value": {
        "error": "Operation not supported"
    }
]

Note the key-value pairs inside the toplevel array. They should be
wrapped inside a JSON object, otherwise it is an invalid JSON. This
commit fixes this, so the output now is:

[{
        "key": ["0x0a","0x41","0x00","0x02","0x1f","0x78","0x00","0x00"
        ],

        "key": ["0x0a","0x41","0x00","0x02","0x1f","0x78","0x00","0x01"
        ],
        "value": {
            "error": "Operation not supported"

55d778076b tools: bpftool: make -d option print debug output from verifier
The "-d" option is used to require all logs available for bpftool. So
far it meant telling libbpf to print even debug-level information. But
there is another source of info that can be made more verbose: when we
attemt to load programs with bpftool, we can pass a log_level parameter
to the verifier in order to control the amount of information that is
printed to the console.

Reuse the "-d" option to print all information the verifier can tell. At
this time, this means logs related to BPF_LOG_LEVEL1, BPF_LOG_LEVEL2 and
BPF_LOG_STATS. As mentioned in the discussion on the first version of
this set, these macros are internal to the kernel
(include/linux/bpf_verifier.h) and are not meant to be part of the
stable user API, therefore we simply use the related constants to print
whatever we can at this time, without trying to tell users what is
log_level1 or what is statistics.

Verifier logs are only used when loading programs for now (In the
future: for loading BTF objects with bpftool? Although libbpf does not
currently offer to print verifier info at debug level if no error
occurred when loading BTF objects), so bpftool.rst and bpftool-prog.rst
are the only man pages to get the update.

v3:
- Add details on log level and BTF loading at the end of commit log.

v2:
- Remove the possibility to select the log levels to use (v1 offered a
  combination of "log_level1", "log_level2" and "stats").
- The macros from kernel header bpf_verifier.h are not used (and
  therefore not moved to UAPI header).
- In v1 this was a distinct option, but is now merged in the only "-d"
  switch to activate libbpf and verifier debug-level logs all at the
  same time.

775bc8ada8 tools: bpftool: add -d option to get debug output from libbpf
libbpf has three levels of priority for output messages: warn, info,
debug. By default, debug output is not printed to the console.

Add a new "--debug" (short name: "-d") option to bpftool to print libbpf
logs for all three levels.

Internally, we simply use the function provided by libbpf to replace the
default printing function by one that prints logs regardless of their
level.

v2:
- Remove the possibility to select the log-levels to use (v1 offered a
  combination of "warn", "info" and "debug").
- Rename option and offer a short name: -d|--debug.
- Add option description to all bpftool manual pages (instead of
  bpftool-prog.rst only), as all commands use libbpf.

2c1212de6f SPDX update for 5.2-rc2, round 1
Here are series of patches that add SPDX tags to different kernel files,
 based on two different things:
   - SPDX entries are added to a bunch of files that we missed a year ago
     that do not have any license information at all.

     These were either missed because the tool saw the MODULE_LICENSE()
     tag, or some EXPORT_SYMBOL tags, and got confused and thought the
     file had a real license, or the files have been added since the last
     big sweep, or they were Makefile/Kconfig files, which we didn't
     touch last time.

   - Add GPL-2.0-only or GPL-2.0-or-later tags to files where our scan
     tools can determine the license text in the file itself. Where this
     happens, the license text is removed, in order to cut down on the
     700+ different ways we have in the kernel today, in a quest to get
     rid of all of these.

 These patches have been out for review on the linux-spdx@vger mailing
 list, and while they were created by automatic tools, they were
 hand-verified by a bunch of different people, all whom names are on the
 patches are reviewers.

 The reason for these "large" patches is if we were to continue to
 progress at the current rate of change in the kernel, adding license
 tags to individual files in different subsystems, we would be finished
 in about 10 years at the earliest.

 There will be more series of these types of patches coming over the next
 few weeks as the tools and reviewers crunch through the more "odd"
 variants of how to say "GPLv2" that developers have come up with over
 the years, combined with other fun oddities (GPL + a BSD disclaimer?)
 that are being unearthed, with the goal for the whole kernel to be
 cleaned up.

 These diffstats are not small, 3840 files are touched, over 10k lines
 removed in just 24 patches.

For a host which has a lower rlimit for max locked memory (e.g., 64KB),

The reason is due to low locked memory during bpf_object__probe_name()
which probes whether program name is supported in kernel or not
during __bpf_object__open_xattr().

bpftool program load already tries to relax mlock rlimit before
bpf_object__load(). Let us move set_max_rlimit() before

a7d0067147 bpftool: exclude bash-completion/bpftool from .gitignore pattern
tools/bpf/bpftool/.gitignore has the "bpftool" pattern, which is
intended to ignore the following build artifact:

  tools/bpf/bpftool/bpftool

However, the .gitignore entry is effective not only for the current
directory, but also for any sub-directories.

So, from the point of .gitignore grammar, the following check-in file
is also considered to be ignored:

  tools/bpf/bpftool/bash-completion/bpftool

As the manual gitignore(5) says "Files already tracked by Git are not
affected", this is not a problem as far as Git is concerned.

However, Git is not the only program that parses .gitignore because
.gitignore is useful to distinguish build artifacts from source files.

For example, tar(1) supports the --exclude-vcs-ignore option. As of
writing, this option does not work perfectly, but it intends to create
a tarball excluding files specified by .gitignore.

So, I believe it is better to fix this issue.

You can fix it by prefixing the pattern with a slash; the leading slash
means the specified pattern is relative to the current directory.

c93cc69004 bpftool: add ability to dump BTF types
Add new `btf dump` sub-command to bpftool. It allows to dump
human-readable low-level BTF types representation of BTF types. BTF can
be retrieved from few different sources:
  - from BTF object by ID;
  - from PROG, if it has associated BTF;
  - from MAP, if it has associated BTF data; it's possible to narrow
    down types to either key type, value type, both, or all BTF types;
  - from ELF file (.BTF section).

Output format mostly follows BPF verifier log format with few notable
exceptions:
  - all the type/field/param/etc names are enclosed in single quotes to
    allow easier grepping and to stand out a little bit more;
  - FUNC_PROTO output follows STRUCT/UNION/ENUM format of having one
    line per each argument; this is more uniform and allows easy
    grepping, as opposed to succinct, but inconvenient format that BPF
    verifier log is using.

0478c3bf81 bpftool: Use print_entry_error() in case of ENOENT when dumping
Commit bf598a8f0f ("bpftool: Improve handling of ENOENT on map dumps")
used print_entry_plain() in case of ENOENT. However, that commit introduces
dead code. Per-cpu maps are zero-filled. When reading them, it's all or
nothing. There will never be a case where some cpus have an entry and
others don't.

The truth is that ENOENT is an error case. Use print_entry_error() to
output the desired message. That function's "value" parameter is also
renamed to indicate that we never use it for an actual map value.

The output format is unchanged.

39c9f10639 tools: bpftool: reset errno for "bpftool cgroup tree"
When trying to dump the tree of all cgroups under a given root node,
bpftool attempts to query programs of all available attach types. Some
of those attach types do not support queries, therefore several of the
calls are actually expected to fail.

Those calls set errno to EINVAL, which has no consequence for dumping
the rest of the tree. It does have consequences however if errno is
inspected at a later time. For example, bpftool batch mode relies on
errno to determine whether a command has succeeded, and whether it
should carry on with the next command. Setting errno to EINVAL when
everything worked as expected would therefore make such command fail:

        # echo 'cgroup tree \n net show' | \
                bpftool batch file -

To improve this, reset errno when its value is EINVAL after attempting
to show programs for all existing attach types in do_show_tree_fn().

d8eca5bbb2 bpf: implement lookup-free direct value access for maps
This generic extension to BPF maps allows for directly loading
an address residing inside a BPF map value as a single BPF
ldimm64 instruction!

The idea is similar to what BPF_PSEUDO_MAP_FD does today, which
is a special src_reg flag for ldimm64 instruction that indicates
that inside the first part of the double insns's imm field is a
file descriptor which the verifier then replaces as a full 64bit
address of the map into both imm parts. For the newly added
BPF_PSEUDO_MAP_VALUE src_reg flag, the idea is the following:
the first part of the double insns's imm field is again a file
descriptor corresponding to the map, and the second part of the
imm field is an offset into the value. The verifier will then
replace both imm parts with an address that points into the BPF
map value at the given value offset for maps that support this
operation. Currently supported is array map with single entry.
It is possible to support more than just single map element by
reusing both 16bit off fields of the insns as a map index, so
full array map lookup could be expressed that way. It hasn't
been implemented here due to lack of concrete use case, but
could easily be done so in future in a compatible way, since
both off fields right now have to be 0 and would correctly
denote a map index 0.

The BPF_PSEUDO_MAP_VALUE is a distinct flag as otherwise with
BPF_PSEUDO_MAP_FD we could not differ offset 0 between load of
map pointer versus load of map's value at offset 0, and changing
BPF_PSEUDO_MAP_FD's encoding into off by one to differ between
regular map pointer and map value pointer would add unnecessary
complexity and increases barrier for debugability thus less
suitable. Using the second part of the imm field as an offset
into the value does /not/ come with limitations since maximum
possible value size is in u32 universe anyway.

This optimization allows for efficiently retrieving an address
to a map value memory area without having to issue a helper call
which needs to prepare registers according to calling convention,
etc, without needing the extra NULL test, and without having to
add the offset in an additional instruction to the value base
pointer. The verifier then treats the destination register as
PTR_TO_MAP_VALUE with constant reg->off from the user passed
offset from the second imm field, and guarantees that this is
within bounds of the map value. Any subsequent operations are
normally treated as typical map value handling without anything
extra needed from verification side.

The two map operations for direct value access have been added to
array map for now. In future other types could be supported as
well depending on the use case. The main use case for this commit
is to allow for BPF loader support for global variables that
reside in .data/.rodata/.bss sections such that we can directly
load the address of them with minimal additional infrastructure
required. Loader support has been added in subsequent commits for
libbpf library.

pull-request: bpf-next 2019-01-29

The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.

The main changes are:

1) Teach verifier dead code removal, this also allows for optimizing /
   removing conditional branches around dead code and to shrink the
   resulting image. Code store constrained architectures like nfp would
   have hard time doing this at JIT level, from Jakub.

2) Add JMP32 instructions to BPF ISA in order to allow for optimizing
   code generation for 32-bit sub-registers. Evaluation shows that this
   can result in code reduction of ~5-20% compared to 64 bit-only code
   generation. Also add implementation for most JITs, from Jiong.

3) Add support for __int128 types in BTF which is also needed for
   vmlinux's BTF conversion to work, from Yonghong.

4) Add a new command to bpftool in order to dump a list of BPF-related
   parameters from the system or for a specific network device e.g. in
   terms of available prog/map types or helper functions, from Quentin.

5) Add AF_XDP sock_diag interface for querying sockets from user
   space which provides information about the RX/TX/fill/completion
   rings, umem, memory usage etc, from Björn.

6) Add skb context access for skb_shared_info->gso_segs field, from Eric.

7) Add support for testing flow dissector BPF programs by extending
   existing BPF_PROG_TEST_RUN infrastructure, from Stanislav.

8) Split BPF kselftest's test_verifier into various subgroups of tests
   in order better deal with merge conflicts in this area, from Jakub.

9) Add support for queue/stack manipulations in bpftool, from Stanislav.

10) Document BTF, from Yonghong.

11) Dump supported ELF section names in libbpf on program load
    failure, from Taeung.

12) Silence a false positive compiler warning in verifier's BTF

d76198b0bc tools: bpftool: warn about risky prog array updates
When prog array is updated with bpftool users often refer
to the map via the ID. Unfortunately, that's likely
to lead to confusion because prog arrays get flushed when
the last user reference is gone. If there is no other
reference bpftool will create one, update successfully
just to close the map again and have it flushed.

Warn about this case in non-JSON mode.

If the problem continues causing confusion we can remove
the support for referring to a map by ID for prog array
update completely. For now it seems like the potential
inconvenience to users who know what they're doing outweighs
the benefit.

8c79b35693 tools: bpftool: fix crash with un-owned prog arrays
Prog arrays don't have 'owner_prog_type' and 'owner_jited'
fields in their fdinfo when they are created. Those fields
are set and reported when first program is checked for
compatibility by bpf_prog_array_compatible().

This means that bpftool cannot expect the fields to always
be there. Currently trying to show maps on a system with
an un-owned prog array leads to a crash:

$ bpftool map show
389: prog_array  name tail_call_map  flags 0x0
Error: key 'owner_prog_type' not found in fdinfo
Error: key 'owner_jited' not found in fdinfo
       key 4B  value 4B  max_entries 4  memlock 4096B
       Segmentation fault (core dumped)

We pass a NULL pointer to atoi().

Remove the assumption that fdinfo keys are always present.
Add missing validations and remove the p_err() calls which
may lead to broken JSON output as caller will not propagate
the failure.

f9499fedf2 tools: bpftool: add probes for a network device
bpftool gained support for probing the current system in order to see
what program and map types, and what helpers are available on that
system. This patch adds the possibility to pass an interface index to
libbpf (and hence to the kernel) when trying to load the programs or to
create the maps, in order to see what items a given network device can
support.

A new keyword "dev <ifname>" can be used as an alternative to "kernel"
to indicate that the given device should be tested. If no target ("dev"
or "kernel") is specified bpftool defaults to probing the kernel.

Sample output:

    # bpftool -p feature probe dev lo
    {
        "syscall_config": {
            "have_bpf_syscall": true
        },
        "program_types": {
            "have_sched_cls_prog_type": false,
            "have_xdp_prog_type": false
        },
        ...
    }

As the target is a network device, /proc/ parameters and kernel
configuration are NOT dumped. Availability of the bpf() syscall is
still probed, so we can return early if that syscall is not usable
(since there is no point in attempting the remaining probes in this
case).

Among the program types, only the ones that can be offloaded are probed.
All map types are probed, as there is no specific rule telling which one
could or could not be supported by a device in the future. All helpers
are probed (but only for offload-able program types).

Caveat: as bpftool does not attempt to attach programs to the device at
the moment, probes do not entirely reflect what the device accepts:
typically, for Netronome's nfp, results will announce that TC cls
offload is available even if support has been deactivated (with e.g.
ethtool -K eth1 hw-tc-offload off).

v2:
- All helpers are probed, whereas previous version would only probe the
  ones compatible with an offload-able program type. This is because we
  do not keep a default compatible program type for each helper anymore.

d267cff467 tools: bpftool: add C-style "#define" output for probes
Make bpftool able to dump a subset of the parameters collected by
probing the system as a listing of C-style #define macros, so that
external projects can reuse the result of this probing and build

The new "macros" keyword is used to select this output. An additional

    #define FOO_BPF__PROG_TYPE_socket_filter__HELPER_bpf_trace_printk 1
    ...

v3:
- Change output for helpers again: add a
  HAVE_PROG_TYPE_HELPER(type, helper) macro that can be used to tell
  if <helper> is available for program <type>.

v2:
- #define-based output added as a distinct patch.
- "HAVE_" prefix appended to macro names.
- Output limited to bpf() syscall availability, BPF prog and map types,
  helper functions. In this version kernel config options, procfs
  parameter or kernel version are intentionally left aside.

2d3ea5e85d tools: bpftool: add probes for eBPF helper functions
Similarly to what was done for program types and map types, add a set of
probes to test the availability of the different eBPF helper functions
on the current system.

For each known program type, all known helpers are tested, in order to
establish a compatibility matrix. Output is provided as a set of lists
of available helpers, one per program type.

Sample output:

    # bpftool feature probe kernel
    ...
    Scanning eBPF helper functions...
    eBPF helpers supported for program type socket_filter:
            - bpf_map_lookup_elem
            - bpf_map_update_elem
            - bpf_map_delete_elem
    ...
    eBPF helpers supported for program type kprobe:
            - bpf_map_lookup_elem
            - bpf_map_update_elem
            - bpf_map_delete_elem
    ...

    # bpftool --json --pretty feature probe kernel
    {
        ...
        "helpers": {
            "socket_filter_available_helpers": ["bpf_map_lookup_elem", \
                    "bpf_map_update_elem","bpf_map_delete_elem", ...
            ],
            "kprobe_available_helpers": ["bpf_map_lookup_elem", \
                    "bpf_map_update_elem","bpf_map_delete_elem", ...
            ],
            ...
        }
    }

v5:
- In libbpf.map, move global symbol to the new LIBBPF_0.0.2 section.

v4:
- Use "enum bpf_func_id" instead of "__u32" in bpf_probe_helper()
  declaration for the type of the argument used to pass the id of
  the helper to probe.
- Undef BPF_HELPER_MAKE_ENTRY after using it.

v3:
- Do not pass kernel version from bpftool to libbpf probes (kernel
  version for testing program with kprobes is retrieved directly from
  libbpf).
- Dump one list of available helpers per program type (instead of one
  list of compatible program types per helper).

v2:
- Move probes from bpftool to libbpf.
- Test all program types for each helper, print a list of working prog
  types for each helper.
- Fall back on include/uapi/linux/bpf.h for names and ids of helpers.
- Remove C-style macros output from this patch.

            "have_prog_array_map_type": true,
            ...
        }
    }

v5:
- In libbpf.map, move global symbol to the new LIBBPF_0.0.2 section.

v3:
- Use a switch with all enum values for setting specific map parameters,
  so that gcc complains at compile time (-Wswitch-enum) if new map types
  were added to the kernel but libbpf was not updated.

1bf4b05810 tools: bpftool: add probes for eBPF program types
Introduce probes for supported BPF program types in libbpf, and call it
from bpftool to test what types are available on the system. The probe
simply consists in loading a very basic program of that type and see if
the verifier complains or not.

Sample output:

    # bpftool feature probe kernel
    ...
    Scanning eBPF program types...
    eBPF program_type socket_filter is available
    eBPF program_type kprobe is available
    eBPF program_type sched_cls is available

            "have_sched_cls_prog_type": true,
            ...
        }
    }

v5:
- In libbpf.map, move global symbol to a new LIBBPF_0.0.2 section.
- Rename (non-API function) prog_load() as probe_load().

v3:
- Get kernel version for checking kprobes availability from libbpf
  instead of from bpftool. Do not pass kernel_version as an argument
  when calling libbpf probes.
- Use a switch with all enum values for setting specific program
  parameters just before probing, so that gcc complains at compile time
  (-Wswitch-enum) if new prog types were added to the kernel but libbpf
  was not updated.
- Add a comment in libbpf.h about setrlimit() usage to allow many
  consecutive probe attempts.

v2:
- Move probes from bpftool to libbpf.
- Remove C-style macros output from this patch.

4567b983f7 tools: bpftool: add probes for kernel configuration options
Add probes to dump a number of options set (or not set) for compiling
the kernel image. These parameters provide information about what BPF
components should be available on the system. A number of them are not
directly related to eBPF, but are in fact used in the kernel as
conditions on which to compile, or not to compile, some of the eBPF
helper functions.

Sample output:

    # bpftool feature probe kernel
    Scanning system configuration...
    ...
    CONFIG_BPF is set to y
    CONFIG_BPF_SYSCALL is set to y
    CONFIG_HAVE_EBPF_JIT is set to y
    ...

    # bpftool --pretty --json feature probe kernel
    {
        "system_config": {
            ...
            "CONFIG_BPF": "y",
            "CONFIG_BPF_SYSCALL": "y",
            "CONFIG_HAVE_EBPF_JIT": "y",
            ...
        }
    }

v5:
- Declare options[] array in probe_kernel_image_config() as static.

v4:
- Add some options to the list:
    - CONFIG_TRACING
    - CONFIG_KPROBE_EVENTS
    - CONFIG_UPROBE_EVENTS
    - CONFIG_FTRACE_SYSCALLS
- Add comments about those options in the source code.

v3:
- Add a comment about /proc/config.gz not being supported as a path for
  the config file at this time.
- Use p_info() instead of p_err() on failure to get options from config
  file, as bpftool keeps probing other parameters and that would
  possibly create duplicate "error" entries for JSON.

v2:
- Remove C-style macros output from this patch.
- NOT addressed: grouping of those config options into subsections
  (I don't see an easy way of grouping them at the moment, please see
  also the discussion on v1 thread).

49eb7ab3b2 tools: bpftool: add basic probe capability, probe syscall availability
Add a new component and command for bpftool, in order to probe the
system to dump a set of eBPF-related parameters so that users can know
what features are available on the system.

Parameters are dumped in plain or JSON output (with -j/-p options).

The current patch introduces probing of one simple parameter:
availability of the bpf() system call. Later commits
will add other probes.

Sample output:

    # bpftool feature probe kernel
    Scanning system call availability...
    bpf() syscall is available

    # bpftool --json --pretty feature probe kernel
    {
        "syscall_config": {
            "have_bpf_syscall": true
        }
    }

The optional "kernel" keyword enforces probing of the current system,
which is the only possible behaviour at this stage. It can be safely
omitted.

The feature comes with the relevant man page, but bash completion will
come in a dedicated commit.

v3:
- Do not probe kernel version. Contrarily to what is written below for
  v2, we can have the kernel version retrieved in libbpf instead of
  bpftool (in the patch adding probing for program types).

v2:
- Remove C-style macros output from this patch.
- Even though kernel version is no longer needed for testing kprobes
  availability, note that we still collect it in this patch so that
  bpftool gets able to probe (in next patches) older kernels as well.

64cf548126 tools: bpftool: Cleanup license mess
Precise and non-ambiguous license information is important. The recent
relicensing of the bpftools introduced a license conflict.

The files have now:

     SPDX-License-Identifier: (GPL-2.0-only OR BSD-2-Clause

and

     * This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or
     * modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License
     * as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version
     * 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version

Amazingly about 20 people acked that change and neither they nor the
committer noticed. Oh well.

Digging deeper: The files were imported from the iproute2 repository with
the GPL V2 or later boiler plate text in commit b66e907cfe ("tools:
bpftool: copy JSON writer from iproute2 repository")

Looking at the iproute2 repository at

  git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/network/iproute2/iproute2.git

the following commit is the equivivalent:

  commit d9d8c839 ("json_writer: add SPDX Identifier (GPL-2/BSD-2)")

That commit explicitly removes the boiler plate and relicenses the code
uner GPL-2.0-only and BSD-2-Clause. As Steven wrote the original code and
also the relicensing commit, it's assumed that the relicensing was intended
to do exaclty that. Just the kernel side update failed to remove the boiler
plate. Do so now.

6e8ccb4f62 tools/bpf: properly account for libbfd variations
On some platforms, in order to link against libbfd, we need to
link against liberty and even possibly libz. Account for that
in the bpftool Makefile. We now have proper feature detection
for each case, so handle each one separately.

See recent commit 14541b1e7e ("perf build: Don't unconditionally link the
libbfd feature test to -liberty and -lz") where I fixed feature
detection.

v2 (addressed Jakub's nits):
  * better syntax for 'else ifeq'
  * no space between ifeq args
v3:
  * use LIBS, not EXTLIBS for -DHAVE_LIBBFD_SUPPORT

298e59d322 tools/bpf: fix bpftool map dump with bitfields
Commit 8772c8bc09 ("tools: bpftool: support pretty print
with kind_flag set") added bpftool map dump with kind_flag
support. When bitfield_size can be retrieved directly from
btf_member, function btf_dumper_bitfield() is called to
dump the bitfield. The implementation passed the
wrong parameter "bit_offset" to the function. The excepted
value is the bit_offset within a byte while the passed-in
value is the struct member offset.

This commit fixed the bug with passing correct "bit_offset"
with adjusted data pointer.

33221307c3 tools: bpftool: add an option to prevent auto-mount of bpffs, tracefs
In order to make life easier for users, bpftool automatically attempts
to mount the BPF virtual file system, if it is not mounted already,
before trying to pin objects in it. Similarly, it attempts to mount
tracefs if necessary before trying to dump the trace pipe to the
console.

While mounting file systems on-the-fly can improve user experience, some
administrators might prefer to avoid that. Let's add an option to block
these mount attempts. Note that it does not prevent automatic mounting
of tracefs by debugfs for the "bpftool prog tracelog" command.

be3245e22d tools: bpftool: attempt to mount tracefs if required for tracelog cmd
As a follow-up to commit 30da46b5dc ("tools: bpftool: add a command to
dump the trace pipe"), attempt to mount the tracefs virtual file system
if it is not detected on the system before trying to dump content of the
tracing pipe on an invocation of "bpftool prog tracelog".

Usually, tracefs in automatically mounted by debugfs when the user tries
to access it (e.g. "ls /sys/kernel/debug/tracing" mounts the tracefs).
So if we failed to find it, it is probably that debugfs is not here
either. Therefore, we just attempt a single mount, at a location that
does not involve debugfs: /sys/kernel/tracing.

8772c8bc09 tools: bpftool: support pretty print with kind_flag set
The following example shows map pretty print with structures
which include bitfield members.

  enum A { A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 };
  typedef enum A ___A;
  struct tmp_t {
       char a1:4;
       int  a2:4;
       int  :4;
       __u32 a3:4;
       int b;
       ___A b1:4;
       enum A b2:4;
  };
  struct bpf_map_def SEC("maps") tmpmap = {
       .type = BPF_MAP_TYPE_ARRAY,
       .key_size = sizeof(__u32),
       .value_size = sizeof(struct tmp_t),
       .max_entries = 1,
  };
  BPF_ANNOTATE_KV_PAIR(tmpmap, int, struct tmp_t);

and the following map update in the bpf program:

  key = 0;
  struct tmp_t t = {};
  t.a1 = 2;
  t.a2 = 4;
  t.a3 = 6;
  t.b = 7;
  t.b1 = 8;
  t.b2 = 10;
  bpf_map_update_elem(&tmpmap, &key, &t, 0);

With this patch, I am able to print out the map values
correctly with this patch:
bpftool map dump id 187
  [{
        "key": 0,
        "value": {
            "a1": 0x2,
            "a2": 0x4,
            "a3": 0x6,
            "b": 7,
            "b1": 0x8,
            "b2": 0xa
        }
    }
  ]

Previously, if a function prototype argument has a typedef
type, the prototype is not printed since
function __btf_dumper_type_only() bailed out with error
if the type is a typedef. This commit corrected this
behavior by printing out typedef properly.

The following example shows forward type and
typedef type can be properly printed in function prototype
with modified test_btf_haskv.c.

  struct t;
  union  u;

  __attribute__((noinline))
  static int test_long_fname_1(struct dummy_tracepoint_args *arg,
                               struct t *p1, union u *p2,
                               __u32 unused)
  ...
  int _dummy_tracepoint(struct dummy_tracepoint_args *arg) {
    return test_long_fname_1(arg, 0, 0, 0);
  }

  $ bpftool p d xlated id 24
  ...
  int test_long_fname_1(struct dummy_tracepoint_args * arg,
                        struct t * p1, union u * p2,

   facilitate debugging and introspection, from Martin.

2) Add support for BPF_ALU | BPF_ARSH | BPF_{K,X} in interpreter
   and all JIT backends, from Jiong.

3) Improve BPF test coverage on archs with no efficient unaligned
   access by adding an "any alignment" flag to the BPF program load
   to forcefully disable verifier alignment checks, from David.

4) Add a new bpf_prog_test_run_xattr() API to libbpf which allows for
   proper use of BPF_PROG_TEST_RUN with data_out, from Lorenz.

5) Extend tc BPF programs to use a new __sk_buff field called wire_len
   for more accurate accounting of packets going to wire, from Petar.

6) Improve bpftool to allow dumping the trace pipe from it and add
   several improvements in bash completion and map/prog dump,
   from Quentin.

7) Optimize arm64 BPF JIT to always emit movn/movk/movk sequence for
   kernel addresses and add a dedicated BPF JIT backend allocator,
   from Ard.

8) Add a BPF helper function for IR remotes to report mouse movements,
   from Sean.

9) Various cleanups in BPF prog dump e.g. to make UAPI bpf_prog_info
   member naming consistent with existing conventions, from Yonghong
   and Song.

10) Misc cleanups and improvements in allowing to pass interface name
    via cmdline for xdp1 BPF example, from Matteo.

11) Fix a potential segfault in BPF sample loader's kprobes handling,

4cc1feeb6f Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net
Several conflicts, seemingly all over the place.

I used Stephen Rothwell's sample resolutions for many of these, if not
just to double check my own work, so definitely the credit largely
goes to him.

The NFP conflict consisted of a bug fix (moving operations
past the rhashtable operation) while chaning the initial
argument in the function call in the moved code.

The net/dsa/master.c conflict had to do with a bug fix intermixing of
making dsa_master_set_mtu() static with the fixing of the tagging
attribute location.

cls_flower had a conflict because the dup reject fix from Or
overlapped with the addition of port range classifiction.

__set_phy_supported()'s conflict was relatively easy to resolve
because Andrew fixed it in both trees, so it was just a matter
of taking the net-next copy. Or at least I think it was :-)

Joe Stringer's fix to the handling of netns id 0 in bpf_sk_lookup()
intermixed with changes on how the sdif and caller_net are calculated
in these code paths in net-next.

The remaining BPF conflicts were largely about the addition of the
__bpf_md_ptr stuff in 'net' overlapping with adjustments and additions
to the relevant data structure where the MD pointer macros are used.

30da46b5dc tools: bpftool: add a command to dump the trace pipe
BPF programs can use the bpf_trace_printk() helper to print debug
information into the trace pipe. Add a subcommand
"bpftool prog tracelog" to simply dump this pipe to the console.

This is for a good part copied from iproute2, where the feature is
available with "tc exec bpf dbg". Changes include dumping pipe content
to stdout instead of stderr and adding JSON support (content is dumped
as an array of strings, one per line read from the pipe). This version
is dual-licensed, with Daniel's permission.

99a44bef58 tools: bpftool: add owner_prog_type and owner_jited to bpftool output
For prog array maps, the type of the owner program, and the JIT-ed state
of that program, are available from the file descriptor information
under /proc. Add them to "bpftool map show" output. Example output:

    # bpftool map show
    158225: prog_array  name jmp_table  flags 0x0
        key 4B  value 4B  max_entries 8  memlock 4096B
        owner_prog_type flow_dissector  owner jited
    # bpftool --json --pretty map show
    [{
            "id": 1337,
            "type": "prog_array",
            "name": "jmp_table",
            "flags": 0,
            "bytes_key": 4,
            "bytes_value": 4,
            "max_entries": 8,
            "bytes_memlock": 4096,
            "owner_prog_type": "flow_dissector",
            "owner_jited": true
        }
    ]

As we move the table used for associating names to program types,
complete it with the missing types (lwt_seg6local and sk_reuseport).
Also add missing types to the help message for "bpftool prog"
(sk_reuseport and flow_dissector).

73f0b9db53 tools: bpftool: mark offloaded programs more explicitly in plain output

an offloaded BPF object is simply denoted with "dev ifname", which is

While at it also add an additional space, as done between other

After:

    # bpftool prog show
    1337: xdp  tag a04f5eef06a7f555  offloaded_to foo
            loaded_at 2018-10-19T16:40:36+0100  uid 0

bpf-next 2018-11-30

The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.

(Getting out bit earlier this time to pull in a dependency from bpf.)

The main changes are:

1) Add libbpf ABI versioning and document API naming conventions
   as well as ABI versioning process, from Andrey.

2) Add a new sk_msg_pop_data() helper for sk_msg based BPF
   programs that is used in conjunction with sk_msg_push_data()
   for adding / removing meta data to the msg data, from John.

3) Optimize convert_bpf_ld_abs() for 0 offset and fix various
   lib and testsuite build failures on 32 bit, from David.

4) Make BPF prog dump for !JIT identical to how we dump subprogs
   when JIT is in use, from Yonghong.

5) Rename btf_get_from_id() to make it more conform with libbpf
   API naming conventions, from Martin.

6) Add a missing BPF kselftest config item, from Naresh.

528bff0cdb tools: bpftool: fix a bitfield pretty print issue
Commit b12d6ec097 ("bpf: btf: add btf print functionality")
added btf pretty print functionality to bpftool.
There is a problem though in printing a bitfield whose type
has modifiers.

For example, for a type like
  typedef int ___int;
  struct tmp_t {
          int a:3;
          ___int b:3;
  };
Suppose we have a map
  struct bpf_map_def SEC("maps") tmpmap = {
          .type = BPF_MAP_TYPE_HASH,
          .key_size = sizeof(__u32),
          .value_size = sizeof(struct tmp_t),
          .max_entries = 1,
  };
and the hash table is populated with one element with
key 0 and value (.a = 1 and .b = 2).

In BTF, the struct member "b" will have a type "typedef" which
points to an int type. The current implementation does not
pass the bit offset during transition from typedef to int type,
hence incorrectly print the value as
  $ bpftool m d id 79
  [{
          "key": 0,
          "value": {
              "a": 0x1,
              "b": 0x1
          }
      }
  ]

This patch fixed the issue by carrying bit_offset along the type
chain during bit_field print. The correct result can be printed as
  $ bpftool m d id 76
  [{
          "key": 0,
          "value": {
              "a": 0x1,
              "b": 0x2
          }
      }
  ]

The kernel pretty print is implemented correctly and does not
have this issue.
