2167d6d7a9 mtd: fsl-quadspi: account for const type of of_device_id.data
This driver creates a number of const structures that it stores in the
data field of an of_device_id array.

The data field of an of_device_id structure has type const void *, so
there is no need for a const-discarding cast when putting const values
into such a structure.

a27f2eaf2b mtd: spi-nor: cadence-quadspi: Add support for direct access mode
Cadence QSPI controller provides direct access mode through which flash
can be accessed in a memory-mapped IO mode. This enables read/write to
flash using memcpy*() functions. This mode provides higher throughput
for both read/write operations when compared to current indirect mode of
operation.

This patch therefore adds support to use QSPI in direct mode. If the
window reserved in SoC's memory map for MMIO access is less that of
flash size(like on most SoCFPGA variants), then the driver falls back
to indirect mode of operation.

On TI's 66AK2G SoC, with ARM running at 600MHz and QSPI at 96MHz
switching to direct mode improves read throughput from 3MB/s to 8MB/s.

fee4380f36 mtd: nand: pxa3xx: Fix READOOB implementation
In the current driver, OOB bytes are accessed in raw mode, and when a
page access is done with NDCR_SPARE_EN set and NDCR_ECC_EN cleared, the
driver must read the whole spare area (64 bytes in case of a 2k page,
16 bytes for a 512 page). The driver was only reading the free OOB
bytes, which was leaving some unread data in the FIFO and was somehow
leading to a timeout.

We could patch the driver to read ->spare_size + ->ecc_size instead of
just ->spare_size when READOOB is requested, but we'd better make
in-band and OOB accesses consistent.
Since the driver is always accessing in-band data in non-raw mode (with
the ECC engine enabled), we should also access OOB data in this mode.
That's particularly useful when using the BCH engine because in this
mode the free OOB bytes are also ECC protected.

Multiplying block_num and mtd->erasesize may potentially overflow
as they are both unsigned ints and so the multiplication is evaluated
in unsigned int arithmetic.  Cast block_adr to off_t to ensure
multiplication is off_t sized to avoid any potential overflow.

The mtd_check_oob_ops() helper verifies if the operation defined by the
user is correct.

Fix the check that verifies if the entire requested area exists. This
check is too restrictive and will fail anytime the last data byte of the

8878b126df mtd: nand: add ->exec_op() implementation
Introduce a new interface to instruct NAND controllers to send specific
NAND operations. The new interface takes the form of a single method
called ->exec_op(). This method is designed to replace ->cmd_ctrl(),
->cmdfunc() and ->read/write_byte/word/buf() hooks.

->exec_op() is passed a set of instructions describing the operation
to execute. Each instruction has a type (ADDR, CMD, DATA, WAITRDY)
and delay. The delay is here to help simple controllers wait enough
time between each instruction, advanced controllers with integrated
timings control can ignore these delays.

Controllers that natively support complex operations (operations
formed of several instructions) can use the NAND op parser
infrastructure. This infrastructure allows controller drivers to
describe the sequence of instructions they support (called
nand_op_pattern) and a hook for each of these supported sequences. The
core then tries to find the best match for a given NAND operation, and
calls the associated hook.

Various other helpers are also added to ease NAND controller drivers
writing.

This new interface should ease support of vendor specific operations
in that NAND manufacturer drivers now have a way to check if the
controller they are connected to supports a specific operation, and
complain or refuse to probe the NAND chip when that's not the case.

e44b9a9c13 mtd: nand: brcmnand: Zero bitflip is not an error
A negative return value of brcmstb_nand_verify_erased_page() indicates a
real bitflip error of an erased page, and other return values (>= 0) show
the corrected bitflip number. Zero return value means no bitflip, but the
current driver code treats it as an error, and eventually leads to
falsely reported ECC error.

fdf2e82105 mtd: nand: gpmi: Fix failure when a erased page has a bitflip at BBM
When erased subpages are read then the BCH decoder returns STATUS_ERASED
if they are all empty, or STATUS_UNCORRECTABLE if there are bitflips.
When there are bitflips, we have to set these bits again to show the
upper layers a completely erased page. When a bitflip happens in the
exact byte where the bad block marker is, then this byte is swapped
with another byte in block_mark_swapping(). The correction code then
detects a bitflip in another subpage and no longer corrects the bitflip
where it really happens.

Correct this behaviour by calling block_mark_swapping() after the
bitflips have been corrected.

In our case UBIFS failed with this bug because it expects erased
pages to be really empty:

707d81545d mtd: nand: samsung: add ECC requirements for K9F4G08U0D
Samsung NAND chip K9F4G08U0D minimum ECC strength requirement is 1 bit
per 512 bytes. As the chip is not ONFI nor JEDEC and because of the lack
of these values, boards using it fail to probe the NAND controller
driver. Fix this by setting up the default values.

aeb93af96d mtd: nand: Only allocate ecc->{calc, code}_buf when actually needed
The only users of the ecc->{calc,code}_buf buffers are NAND controller
drivers implementing ecc->calculate() and/or ecc->correct(). Since the
->oobsize can be non-negligle, especially on modern NAND devices, we'd
better allocate it only when it is actually required.

Make ecc->{calc,code}_buf allocation dependent on the presence of
ecc->calculate() or ecc->correct().

8c677541bb mtd: nand: denali: Avoid using ecc->code_buf as a temporary buffer
ECC bytes are contiguous in the ->oob_poi buffer, which means we don't
have to copy them into ->code_buf (here used as a temporary buffer)
before passing them to the nand_check_erased_ecc_chunk() function.

This change will allow us to allocate ecc->{code,calc}_buf only when
ecc->calculate() or ecc->correct() is specified.

b45ee5501e mtd: nand: mtk: Support different MTK NAND flash controller IP
MT7622 uses an MTK's earlier NAND flash controller IP which support
different sector size, max spare size per sector and paraity bits...,
some register's offset and definition also been changed in the NAND
flash controller, this patch is the preparation to support MT7622
NAND flash controller.

MT7622 NFC and ECC engine are similar to MT2701's, except below
differences:
(1)MT7622 NFC's max sector size(ECC data size) is 512 bytes, and
   MT2701's is 1024, and MT7622's max sector number is 8.
(2)The parity bit of MT7622 is 13, MT2701 is 14.
(3)MT7622 ECC supports less ECC strength, max to 16 bit ecc strength.
(4)MT7622 supports less spare size per sector, max spare size per
   sector is 28 bytes.
(5)Some register's offset are different, include ECC_ENCIRQ_EN,
   ECC_ENCIRQ_STA, ECC_DECDONE, ECC_DECIRQ_EN and ECC_DECIRQ_STA.
(6)ENC_MODE of ECC_ENCCNFG register is moved from bit 5-6 to bit 4-5.

f880b07bf1 mtd: nand: cafe: remove use of NAND_OWN_BUFFERS
This driver is the last/only user of NAND_OWN_BUFFERS.  Boris suggested
to remove this flag.

Taking a closer look at this driver, it calls dma_alloc_coherent() for
the concatenated area for the DMA bounce buffer + struct nand_buffers,
but the latter does not need to be DMA-coherent; cafe_{write,read}_buf
simply do memcpy() between buffers when usedma==1.

Let's do dma_alloc_coherent() for the DMA bounce buffer in the front,
and leave the nand_buffers allocation to nand_scan_tail(), then rip off
NAND_OWN_BUFFERS.

The magic number, 2112, is still mysterious (hard-coded writesize +
oobsize ?), but this is not our main interest.  I am keeping it.

17fa804418 mtd: nand: provide valid ->data_interface during NAND detection
Right now, the chip->data_interface field is populated in
nand_scan_tail(), so after the whole NAND detection has taken place.
This is fine because these timings are not yet used by the core so
early in the probe process, but the situation is about to change with
the introduction of ->exec_op().

Also, by convention, nand_scan_ident() is not supposed to allocate
resources, only nand_scan_tail() can, so this prevent us from
allocating and initializing the data_interface object in
nand_scan_ident().

In order to solve this problem, directly embed a data_interface object
in nand_chip so that we don't have to allocate it, and initialize it to
ONFI SDR mode 0 at the very beginning of nand_scan_ident().

25f815f66a mtd: nand: force drivers to explicitly send READ/PROG commands
The core currently send the READ0 and SEQIN+PAGEPROG commands in
nand_do_read/write_ops(). This is inconsistent with
->read/write_oob[_raw]() hooks behavior which are expected to send
these commands.

There's already a flag (NAND_ECC_CUSTOM_PAGE_ACCESS) to inform the core
that a specific controller wants to send the READ/SEQIN+PAGEPROG
commands on its own, but it's an opt-in flag, and existing drivers are
unlikely to be updated to pass it.

Moreover, some controllers cannot dissociate the READ/PAGEPROG commands
from the associated data transfer and ECC engine activation, and
developers have to hack things in their ->cmdfunc() implementation to
handle such complex cases, or have to accept the perf penalty of sending
twice the same command.
To address this problem we are planning on adding a new interface which
is passed all information about a NAND operation (including the amount
of data to transfer) and replacing all calls to ->cmdfunc() to calls to
this new ->exec_op() hook. But, in order to do that, we need to have all
->cmdfunc() calls placed near their associated ->read/write_buf/byte()
calls.

Modify the core and relevant drivers to make NAND_ECC_CUSTOM_PAGE_ACCESS
the default case, and remove this flag.

59b356ffd0 mtd: m25p80: restore the status of SPI flash when exiting
Restore the status to be compatible with legacy devices.
Take Freescale eSPI boot for example, it copies (in 3 Byte
addressing mode) the RCW and bootloader images from SPI flash
without firing a reset signal previously, so the reboot command
will fail without resetting the addressing mode of SPI flash.
This patch implements .shutdown function to restore the status
in reboot process, and add the same operation to the .remove
function.

20ccb993f2 mtd: spi-nor: check FSR error bits for Micron memories
For Micron spi nor device, when erase/program operation
fails, especially the failure results from intending to
modify protected space, spi-nor upper layers still get
the return which shows the operation succeeds. This is
because current spi_nor_fsr_ready() only uses FSR bit.7
(flag status register) to check device whether ready.
This patch fixes this issue by checking relevant error
bits in FSR.
The FSR is a powerful tool to investigate the status of
device, checking information regarding what the memory is
actually doing and detecting possible error conditions.

df467899da mtd: nand: fix interpretation of NAND_CMD_NONE in nand_command[_lp]()
Some drivers (like nand_hynix.c) call ->cmdfunc() with NAND_CMD_NONE
and a column address and expect the controller to only send address
cycles. Right now, the default ->cmdfunc() implementations provided by
the core do not filter out the command cycle in this case and forwards
the request to the controller driver through the ->cmd_ctrl() method.
The thing is, NAND controller drivers can get this wrong and send a
command cycle with a NAND_CMD_NONE opcode and since NAND_CMD_NONE is
-1, and the command field is usually casted to an u8, we end up sending
the 0xFF command which is actually a RESET operation.

Add conditions in nand_command[_lp]() functions to sending the initial
command cycle when command == NAND_CMD_NONE.

1530578abd mtd: Avoid probe failures when mtd->dbg.dfs_dir is invalid
Commit e8e3edb95c ("mtd: create per-device and module-scope debugfs
entries") tried to make MTD related debugfs stuff consistent across the
MTD framework by creating a root <debugfs>/mtd/ directory containing
one directory per MTD device.

The problem is that, by default, the MTD layer only registers the
master device if no partitions are defined for this master. This
behavior breaks all drivers that expect mtd->dbg.dfs_dir to be filled
correctly after calling mtd_device_register() in order to add their own
debugfs entries.

The only way we can force all MTD masters to be registered no matter if
they expose partitions or not is by enabling the
CONFIG_MTD_PARTITIONED_MASTER option.

In such situations, there's no other solution but to accept skipping
debugfs initialization when dbg.dfs_dir is invalid, and when this
happens, inform the user that he should consider enabling
CONFIG_MTD_PARTITIONED_MASTER.

8a4580e4d2 mtd: sharpslpart: Add sharpslpart partition parser
The Sharp SL Series (Zaurus) PXA handhelds have 16/64/128M of NAND flash
and share the same layout of the first 7M partition, managed by Sharp FTL.

The purpose of this self-contained patch is to add a common parser and
remove the hardcoded sizes in the board files (these devices are not yet
converted to devicetree).
Users will have benefits because the mtdparts= tag will not be necessary
anymore and they will be free to repartition the little sized flash.

The obsolete bootloader can not pass the partitioning info to modern
kernels anymore so it has to be read from flash at known logical addresses.

In kernel, under arch/arm/mach-pxa we have already 8 machines:

Lost after the 2.4 vendor kernel are MACH_BOXER and MACH_TERRIER.

Almost every model has different factory partitioning: add to this the
units can be repartitioned by users with userspace tools (nandlogical)
and installers for popular (back then) linux distributions.

The Parameter Area in the first (boot) partition extends from 0x00040000 to
0x0007bfff (176k) and contains two copies of the partition table:

0x00060000: Partition Info1     16k
0x00064000: Partition Info2     16k
0x00668000: Model               16k
...

The first 7M partition is managed by the Sharp FTL reserving 5% + 1 blocks
for wear-leveling: some blocks are remapped and one layer of translation
(logical to physical) is necessary.

There isn't much documentation about this FTL in the 2.4 sources, just the
MTD methods for reading and writing using logical addresses and the block
management (wear-leveling, use counter).
It seems this FTL was tailored with 16KiB eraesize in mind so to fit one
param block exactly, to have two copies of the partition table on two
blocks.
Later pxa27x devices have same size but 128KiB erasesize and less blocks
(56 vs. 448) but the same schema was adopted, even if the two tables are
now in the same eraseblock.

For the purpose of the MTD parser only the read part of the code was taken.

The NAND drivers that can use this parser are sharpsl.c and tmio_nand.c.

5cdd929da5 mtd: Add sanity checks in mtd_write/read_oob()
Unlike what's done in mtd_read/write(), there are no checks to make sure
the parameters passed to mtd_read/write_oob() are consistent, which
forces implementers of ->_read/write_oob() to do it, which in turn leads
to code duplication and possibly errors in the logic.

Do general sanity checks, like ops fields consistency and range checking.

9eaa903c06 mtd: implement mtd_get_unmapped_area() using the point method
The mtd->_point method is a superset of mtd->_get_unmapped_area.
Especially in the NOR flash case, the point method ensures the flash
memory is in array (data) mode and that it will stay that way which
is precisely what callers of mtd_get_unmapped_area() would expect.

Implement mtd_get_unmapped_area() in terms of mtd->_point now that all
drivers that provided a _get_unmapped_area method also have the _point
method implemented.

When the phys pointer is non null, the point method is expected to return
the physical address for the pointed area. In the case of the mtdram
driver we have to retrieve the physical address for the corresponding
vmalloc area. However, there is no guarantee that the vmalloc area is
made of physically contiguous pages. In that case we simply limit retlen
to the actually contiguous pages.

6f469b67ff mtd: powernv_flash: Use opal_async_wait_response_interruptible()
The OPAL calls performed in this driver shouldn't be using
opal_async_wait_response() as this performs a wait_event() which, on
long running OPAL calls could result in hung task warnings. wait_event()
prevents timely signal delivery which is also undesirable.

This patch also attempts to quieten down the use of dev_err() when
errors haven't actually occurred and also to return better information up
the stack rather than always -EIO.

b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier.  The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne.  Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed.  Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
   considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

   For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
   resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
   which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
   confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
   the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights.  The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
   files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
   was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction.  This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg.  Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected.  This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.)  Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

When mtdoops calls mtd_panic_write(), it eventually calls
panic_nand_write() in nand_base.c. In order to properly wait for the
nand chip to be ready in panic_nand_wait(), the chip must first be
selected.

When using the atmel nand flash controller, a panic would occur due to
a NULL pointer exception.

1d2fcdcf33 mtd: nand: mtk: fix infinite ECC decode IRQ issue
For MT2701 NAND Controller, there may generate infinite ECC decode IRQ
during long time burn test on some platforms. Once this issue occurred,
the ECC decode IRQ status cannot be cleared in the IRQ handler function,
and threads cannot be scheduled.

ECC HW generates decode IRQ each sector, so there will have more than one
decode IRQ if read one page of large page NAND.

Currently, ECC IRQ handle flow is that we will check whether it is decode
IRQ at first by reading the register ECC_DECIRQ_STA. This is a read-clear
type register. If this IRQ is decode IRQ, then the ECC IRQ signal will be
cleared at the same time.
Secondly, we will check whether all sectors are decoded by reading the
register ECC_DECDONE. This is because the current IRQ may be not dealed
in time, and the next sectors have been decoded before reading the
register ECC_DECIRQ_STA. Then, the next sectors's decode IRQs will not
be generated.
Thirdly, if all sectors are decoded by comparing with ecc->sectors, then we
will complete ecc->done, set ecc->sectors as 0, and disable ECC IRQ by
programming the register ECC_IRQ_REG(op) as 0. Otherwise, wait for the
next ECC IRQ.

But, there is a timing issue between step one and two. When we read the
reigster ECC_DECIRQ_STA, all sectors are decoded except the last sector,
and the ECC IRQ signal is cleared. But the last sector is decoded before
reading ECC_DECDONE, so the ECC IRQ signal is enabled again by ECC HW, and
it means we will receive one extra ECC IRQ later. In step three, we will
find that all sectors were decoded, then disable ECC IRQ and return.
When deal with the extra ECC IRQ, the ECC IRQ status cannot be cleared
anymore. That is because the register ECC_DECIRQ_STA can only be cleared
when the register ECC_IRQ_REG(op) is enabled. But actually we have
disabled ECC IRQ in the previous ECC IRQ handle. So, there will
keep receiving ECC decode IRQ.

Now, we read the register ECC_DECIRQ_STA once again before completing the
ecc done event. This ensures that there will be no extra ECC decode IRQ.

Also, remove writel(0, ecc->regs + ECC_IRQ_REG(op)) from irq handler,
because ECC IRQ is disabled in mtk_ecc_disable(). And clear ECC_DECIRQ_STA
in mtk_ecc_disable() in case there is a timeout to wait decode IRQ.

10cd4b7b74 mtd: spi-nor: stm32-quadspi: fix prefetching outside fsize
When memory-mapped mode is used, a prefetching mechanism fully
managed by the hardware allows to optimize the read from external
the QSPI memory. A 32-bytes FIFO is used for prefetching.
When the limit of flash size - fifo size is reached the prefetching
mechanism tries to read outside the fsize.
The stm32 quadspi hardware become busy and should be aborted.

write_disable(), and erase_chip()) call spi_nor.write_reg() with a zero
length.

Fix this by returning an explicit zero on success.

739c64414f mtd: nand: omap2: Fix subpage write
Since v4.12, NAND subpage writes were causing a NULL pointer
dereference on OMAP platforms (omap2-nand) using OMAP_ECC_BCH4_CODE_HW,
OMAP_ECC_BCH8_CODE_HW and OMAP_ECC_BCH16_CODE_HW.

This is because for those ECC modes, omap_calculate_ecc_bch()
generates ECC bytes for the entire (multi-sector) page and this can
overflow the ECC buffer provided by nand_write_subpage_hwecc()
as it expects ecc.calculate() to return ECC bytes for just one sector.

However, the root cause of the problem is present since v3.9
but was not seen then as NAND buffers were being allocated
as one big chunk prior to commit 3deb9979c7 ("mtd: nand: allocate
aligned buffers if NAND_OWN_BUFFERS is unset").

Fix the issue by providing a OMAP optimized write_subpage()
implementation.

e2580a4add mtd: spi-nor: cadence-quadspi: Add support to enable loop-back clock circuit
Cadence QSPI IP has a adapted loop-back circuit which can be enabled by
setting BYPASS field to 0 in READCAPTURE register. It enables use of
QSPI return clock to latch the data rather than the internal QSPI
reference clock. For high speed operations, adapted loop-back circuit
using QSPI return clock helps to increase data valid window.

Based on DT parameter cdns,rclk-en enable adapted loop-back circuit
for boards which do have QSPI return clock provided.
This patch also modifies cqspi_readdata_capture() function's bypass
parameter to bool to match how its used in the function.

As per 66AK2G02 TRM[1] SPRUHY8F section 11.15.5.3 Indirect Access
Controller programming sequence, a delay equal to couple of QSPI master
clock(~5ns) is required after setting CQSPI_REG_INDIRECTWR_START bit and
writing data to the flash. Introduce a quirk flag CQSPI_NEEDS_WR_DELAY
to handle this and set this flag for TI 66AK2G SoC.

According to the datasheet, the HW sequencer has a predefined list
of opcodes, with only the erase opcode being programmable in LVSCC
and UVSCC registers. If these registers don't contain a valid erase
opcode (eg: BIOS does not program it), erase cannot be done using
the HW sequencer, even though the erase operation does not report
any error, the flash remains not erased.

If such register setting is detected, let's fall back to use the SW
sequencer to erase instead.

8c473dd61b spi-nor: intel-spi: Don't assume OPMENU0/1 to be programmed by BIOS
At present the driver relies on valid OPMENU0/OPMENU1 register values
that are programmed by BIOS to function correctly. However in a real
world it's absolutely legitimate for a bootloader to leave these two
registers untouched. Intel FSP for Baytrail exactly does like this.
When we are booting from any Intel FSP based bootloaders like U-Boot,
the driver refuses to work.

We can of course program various flash opcodes in the OPMENU0/OPMENU1
registers, and such workaround can be added in either the bootloader
codes, or the kernel driver itself.

But a graceful solution would be to update the kernel driver to remove
such limitation of OPMENU0/1 register dependency. The SPI controller
settings are not locked under such configuration. So we can first check
the controller locking status, and if it is not locked that means the
driver job can be fulfilled by using a chosen OPMENU index to set up
the flash opcode every time.

While we are here, the missing 'Atomic Cycle Sequence' handling in the
SW sequencer codes is also added.

Baytrail/Lynx Point SPI controller's HW sequencer only supports basic
operations. This is determined by the chipset design, however current
codes try to use register values in OPMENU0/OPMENU1 to see whether SW
sequencer should be used, which is wrong. In fact OPMENU0/OPMENU1 can
remain unprogrammed by some bootloaders.

Some manufacturers may use different bit to set QE on different
memories.

The GD25Q256 from GigaDevice is an example, which uses S6(bit 6
of the Status Register-1) to set QE, which is different with
other supported memories from GigaDevice that use S9(bit 1 of
the Status Register-2). This makes it is impossible to select
the quad enable method by distinguishing the MFR. This patch
introduce a quad_enable function which can be set per memory
in the flash_info list table.

46dde01f6b mtd: spi-nor: add spi_nor_init() function
This patch extracts some chunks from spi_nor_init_params and spi_nor_scan()
 and moves them into a new spi_nor_init() function.

Indeed, spi_nor_init() regroups all the required SPI flash commands to be
sent to the SPI flash memory before performing any runtime operations
(Fast Read, Page Program, Sector Erase, ...). Hence spi_nor_init():
1) removes the flash protection if applicable for certain vendors.
2) sets the Quad Enable bit, if needed, before using Quad SPI protocols.
3) makes the memory enter its (stateful) 4-byte address mode, if needed,
   for SPI flash memory > 128Mbits not supporting the 4-byte address
   instruction set.

spi_nor_scan() now ends by calling spi_nor_init() once the probe phase has
completed. Further patches could also use spi_nor_init() to implement the
mtd->_resume() handler for the spi-nor framework.

7963f58cbf mtd: nand: denali: fix setup_data_interface to meet tCCS delay
The WE_2_RE register specifies the number of clock cycles inserted
between the rising edge of #WE and the falling edge of #RE.

The current setup_data_interface implementation takes care of tWHR,
but tCCS is missing.  Wait for max(tCSS, tWHR) to meet the spec.

With setup_data_interface() properly programmed, the Denali NAND
controller can observe the timing, so NAND_WAIT_TCCS flag is unneeded.
Clarify this in the comment block.

143b0ab97d mtd: nand: atmel: Avoid ECC errors when leaving backup mode
During backup mode, the contents of all registers will be cleared as the
SoC will be completely powered down. For a product that boots on NAND
Flash memory, the bootloader will obviously use the related controller
to read the Flash and correct any detected error in the memory, before
handling back control to the kernel's resuming entry point.

But it does not clean the NAND controller registers after use and on its
side the kernel driver expects the error locator to be powered down and
in a clean state. Add a resume hook for the PMECC error locator, and
reset its registers.

f3d0d8d938 mtd: nand: gpio: Convert to use GPIO descriptors
There is exactly one board in the kernel that defines platform data
for the GPIO NAND driver.

Use the feature to provide a lookup table for the GPIOs in the board
file so we can convert the driver as a whole to just use GPIO
descriptors.

After this we can cut the use of <linux/of_gpio.h> and use the GPIO
descriptor management from <linux/gpio/consumer.h> alone to grab and use
the GPIOs used in the driver.

I also created a local struct device *dev in the probe() function
because I was getting annoyed with all the &pdev->dev dereferencing.

7e439681af mtd: Fix partition alignment check on multi-erasesize devices
Commit 1eeef2d748 ("mtd: handle partitioning on devices with 0
erasesize") introduced a regression on heterogeneous erase region
devices. Alignment of the partition was tested against the master
eraseblock size which can be bigger than the slave one, thus leading
to some partitions being marked as read-only.

Update wr_alignment to match this slave erasesize after this erasesize
has been determined by picking the biggest erasesize of all the regions
embedded in the MTD partition.

29c4dd9287 mtd: nand: denali: support direct addressing mode
The Denali NAND IP core decodes the lower 28 bits of the slave address
to get the control information; bit[27:26]=mode, bit[25:24]=bank, etc.
This means 256MB address range must be allocated for this IP.  (Direct
Addressing)

For systems with address space limitation, the Denali IP provides an
optional module that translates the addressing - address and data are
latched by the registers in the translation module. (Indexed Addressing)

The addressing mode can be selected when the delivered RTL is configured,
and it can be read out from the FEATURES register.

Most of SoC vendors would choose Indexed Addressing to save the address
space, but Direct Addressing is possible as well, and it can be easily
supported by adding ->host_{read,write} hooks.

This driver explains too much about what is apparent from the code.

Comments around basic APIs such as init_completion(), spin_lock_init(),
etc. seem unneeded lessons to kernel developers.
(With those comments dropped, denali_drv_init() is small enough,
so it has been merged into the probe function.)

Also, NAND driver developers should know the NAND init procedure, so
there is no need to explain nand_scan_ident/tail.

I removed FSF's address from the license blocks, and added simple
comments to struct members.

All the register offsets and bitfield masks are defined in denali.h,
but the driver code ended up with additional crappy macros such as
MAKE_ECC_CORRECTION(), ECC_SECTOR(), etc.

The reason is apparent - accessing a register field requires mask and
shift pair.  The denali.h only provides mask.  However, defining both
is tedious.

<linux/bitfield.h> provides a convenient way to get register fields
only with a single shifted mask.  Now use it.

While I am here, I shortened some macros.

Several drivers check ->chipsize to see if the third row address cycle
is needed.  Instead of embedding magic sizes such as 32MB, 128MB in
drivers, introduce a new flag NAND_ROW_ADDR_3 for clean-up.  Since
nand_scan_ident() knows well about the device, it can handle this
properly.  The flag is set if the row address bit width is greater
than 16.

Delete comments such as "One more address cycle for ..." because
intention is now clear enough from the code.

bfa4133795 mtd: spi-nor: fix DMA unsafe buffer issue in spi_nor_read_sfdp()
spi_nor_read_sfdp() calls nor->read() to read the SFDP data.
When the m25p80 driver is used (pretty common case), nor->read() is then
implemented by the m25p80_read() function, which is likely to initialize a
'struct spi_transfer' from its buf argument before appending this
structure inside the 'struct spi_message' argument of spi_sync().

Besides the SPI sub-system states that both .tx_buf and .rx_buf members of
'struct spi_transfer' must point into dma-safe memory. However, two of the
three calls of spi_nor_read_sfdp() were given pointers to stack allocated
memory as buf argument, hence not in a dma-safe area.
Hopefully, the third and last call of spi_nor_read_sfdp() was already
given a kmalloc'ed buffer argument, hence dma-safe.

So this patch fixes this issue by introducing a
spi_nor_read_sfdp_dma_unsafe() function which simply wraps the existing
spi_nor_read_sfdp() function and uses some kmalloc'ed memory as a bounce
buffer.

b8f3911610 mtd: spi-nor: Check consistency of the memory size extracted from the SFDP
One field of the flash parameter table contains information about the
flash device size.
Most of the time the data extracted from this field is valid, but
sometimes the BFPT section of the SFDP table is corrupted or invalid and
this field is set to 0xffffffff, thus resulting in an integer overflow
when setting params->size.

Since NOR devices are anayway always smaller than 2^64 bytes, we can
easily stop the BFPT parsing if the size reported in this table is
invalid.

278f31a70d ubi: pr_err() strings should end with newlines
The ubi_init() function has a few error paths that use the
pr_err() to output errors. These should have new lines on
them as pr_err() does not automatically do this.

This fixes issues where if multiple mtd fail to bind to
ubi the console output starts wrapping around.

69fc01296c mtd: nand: make Samsung SLC NAND usable again
commit c51d0ac59f ("mtd: nand: Move Samsung specific init/detection
logic in nand_samsung.c") introduced a regression for Samsung SLC NAND
chips. Prior to this commit chip->bits_per_cell was initialized by calling
nand_get_bits_per_cell() before using nand_is_slc().
With the offending commit this call is skipped, leaving
chip->bits_per_cell cleared to zero when the manufacturer specific
'.detect' function calls nand_is_slc() which in turn interprets
bits_per_cell != 1 as indication for an MLC chip.
The effect is that e.g. a K9F1G08U0F NAND chip is falsely detected as
MLC NAND with 4KiB page size rather than SLC with 2KiB page size.

Add a call to nand_get_bits_per_cell() before calling the .detect hook
function in nand_manufacturer_detect(), so that the nand_is_slc()
calls in the manufacturer specific code will return correct results.

be3e83e347 mtd: nand: atmel: Relax tADL_min constraint
Version 4 of the ONFI spec mandates that tADL be at least 400 nanoseconds,
but, depending on the master clock rate, 400 ns may not fit in the tADL
field of the SMC reg. We need to relax the check and accept the -ERANGE
return code.

Note that previous versions of the ONFI spec had a lower tADL_min (100 or
200 ns). It's not clear why this timing constraint got increased but it
seems most NANDs are fine with values lower than 400ns, so we should be
safe.

In EBI2, all codeword data will be read in FLASH_BUF_ACC buffer
and ADM will copy the data from source (FLASH_BUF_ACC) to
destination (memory for data read).

In QPIC, there is no FLASH_BUF_ACC and all the codeword data will
held in QPIC BAM FIFO buffers. It provides multiple READ_LOCATION
registers which will be used for copying the data from FIFO to
memory. The READ_LOCATION register will be used to read a
specific amount of data from a specific offset within the flash
buffer. It supports sequential offset requests. Each request is
composed of the following fields:

a. Offset within the flash buffer from which data should be
   read
b. Amount of data to be read
c. Flag bit specifying the last read request from the flash
   buffer. Following the last read request the NANDc refers to the
   buffer as empty.

The QPIC NAND BAM has multiple flags to control the transfer. This
patch adds flags parameter in register and data transfer DMA helper
functions and modifies all these functions call with appropriate
flags using following rule

1. Read and write can’t go in single command descriptor so
   separate SGL should be used.
2. For some of the requests, NWD flag should be set in BAM
   DMA descriptor.
3. For Data write, the BAM has internal buffer for each codeword.
   All write request will modify the data in internal buffer and
   this buffer will be flushed to NAND device once EOT flag is set.
   So for all the write requests in single codeword, the EOT should
   be cleared for all tx data descriptors except the last one.

1. prepare_bam_async_desc is the function which will call
   all the DMA API’s. It will fetch the outstanding scatter gather
   list for passed channel and will do the DMA descriptor formation.
   The DMA flag is dependent upon the type of channel.

2. For ADM DMA, the descriptor is being formed for every DMA
   request so its sgl count will be always 1 while in BAM DMA, the
   clubbing of descriptor is being done to increase throughput.

3. ADM DMA uses only one channel while in BAM DMA, data descriptors
   will be submitted to tx channel (for write) or rx channel
   (for read) and all the registers read/write descriptors in
   command channel.

- The BAM transaction is the core data structure which will be used
  for all the data transfers in QPIC NAND. Since the core framework
  in nand_base.c is serializing all the NAND requests so allocating
  BAM transaction before every transfer will be overhead. The memory
  for it be allocated during probe time and before every transfer,
  it will be cleared.

- The BAM transaction contains the array of
  command and data scatter gather list and indexes. For
  every transfer, all the resource will be taken from BAM
  transaction.

- The size of the buffer used for BAM transactions
  is calculated based on the NAND device with the maximum page size,
  among all the devices connected to the
  controller.

The EBI2 NAND controller directly remaps register read buffer with
dma_map_sg and DMA address of this buffer will be passed to DMA
API’s. While, on QPIC NAND controller, which uses BAM DMA, we read
the controller registers by preparing a BAM command descriptor. This
command descriptor requires the

  - controller register address
  - the DMA address in which we want to store the value read
    back from the controller register.

This command descriptor will be remapped with dma_map_sg
and its DMA address will be passed to DMA API’s. Therefore,
it's required that we also map our register read buffer for
DMA (using dma_map_single). We use the returned DMA address
for preparing entries in our command descriptor.

This patch adds the DMA mapping support for register read
buffer. This buffer will be DMA mapped during allocation
time. Before starting of any operation, this buffer will
be synced for device operation and after operation
completion, it will be synced again for CPU.

According to the datasheet of the H27UCG8T2BTR the NAND Technology field
(6th byte of the "Device Identifier Description", bits 0-2) the
following values are possible:
- 0x0 = 48nm
- 0x1 = 41nm
- 0x2 = 32nm
- 0x3 = 26nm
- 0x4 = 20nm
- (all others are reserved)

Fix this by extending the mask for this field to allow detecting value
0x4 (20nm) as valid NAND technology.
Without this the detection of the ECC requirements fails, because the
code assumes that the device is a 48nm device (0x4 & 0x3 = 0x0) and
aborts with "Invalid ECC requirements" because it cannot map the "ECC
Level". Extending the mask makes the ECC requirement detection code
recognize this chip as <= 26nm and sets up the ECC step size and ECC
strength correctly.

introduced a bug in the OOB layout description. Even if the driver claims
that 3 ECC bytes are reserved to protect 512 bytes of data, it's actually
5 ECC bytes to protect 512+6 bytes of data (some OOB bytes are also
protected using extra ECC bytes).

Fix the mxc_v1_ooblayout_{free,ecc}() functions to reflect this behavior.

fcf59f1ff5 mtd: nand: sunxi: explicitly request exclusive reset control
Commit a53e35db70 ("reset: Ensure drivers are explicit when requesting
reset lines") started to transition the reset control request API calls
to explicitly state whether the driver needs exclusive or shared reset
control behavior. Convert all drivers requesting exclusive resets to the
explicit API call so the temporary transition helpers can be removed.

No functional changes.

481815a619 mtd: st_spi_fsm: Handle clk_prepare_enable/clk_disable_unprepare.
- clk_prepare_enable() can fail here and we must check its return value.
 - stfsm_probe() can fail here and we must disable clock.
