The driver uses static data structures for initializing
specific fields of a given data queue. These static
queue data descriptor structures are containing values
which related to a given chipset.
Even though the values are chip specific, the actual
selection of the used structure is based on device
specific vendor/product identifiers. This approach works,
but it is not always reliable. Sometimes the vendor and/or
device IDs of the PCI and USB devices contains improper
values which makes it impossible to select the correct
structure for such devices.
The patch adds a new callback to tr2x00_ops which
is called after the chipset detection is finished.
This allows the drivers to do dynamic initialization
of the data_queue structure for a given queue based
on the actual chipset.
After each driver implements the queue_init callback,
the data_queue_desc structure will be removed.

The module parameter "fwpostfix" is userspace controllable, unfiltered,
and is used to define the firmware filename. b43_do_request_fw() populates
ctx->errors[] on error, containing the firmware filename. b43err()
parses its arguments as a format string. For systems with b43 hardware,
this could lead to a uid-0 to ring-0 escalation.

The ath9k rate control algorithm has various architectural
issues that make it a poor fit in scenarios like congested
environments etc.
An example: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=927191
Change the default to minstrel which is more robust in such cases.
The ath9k RC code is left in the driver for now, maybe it can
be removed altogether later on.

Almost all the DMA issues which have plagued ath9k (in station mode)
for years are related to PS. Disabling PS usually "fixes" the user's
connection stablility. Reports of DMA problems are still trickling in
and are sitting in the kernel bugzilla. Until the PS code in ath9k is
given a thorough review, disbale it by default. The slight increase
in chip power consumption is a small price to pay for improved link
stability.

Older Single Queue (SQ_SG_MODE) devices like TSEC (i.e. mpc83xx)
don't feature the frame receive indication bits (RXF) in RSTAT.
For these and for the rest of the SQ_SG_MODE devices, provide the
appropiate polling routine that handles a single pair of Rx/Tx

multiple interrupt group devices (veTSEC/ eTSEC2.0 devices).
So this is primarily a fix for the TSEC devices.

Another QMI speaking Qualcomm based device, which should be
driven by qmi_wwan, while cdc_ether should ignore it.
Like on other Huawei devices, the wwan function can appear
either as a single vendor specific interface or as a CDC ECM
class function using separate control and data interfaces.
The ECM control interface protocol is 0xff, likely in an
attempt to indicate that vendor specific management is
required.
In addition to the near standard CDC class, Huawei also add
vendor specific AT management commands to their firmwares.
This is probably an attempt to support non-Windows systems
using standard class drivers. Unfortunately, this part of
the firmware is often buggy. Linux is much better off using
whatever native vendor specific management protocol the
device offers, and Windows uses, whenever possible. This
means QMI in the case of Qualcomm based devices.
The E1820 has been verified to work fine with QMI.
Matching on interface number is necessary to distiguish the
wwan function from serial functions in the single interface
mode, as both function types will have class/subclass/function
set to ff/ff/ff.
The control interface number does not change in CDC ECM mode,
so the interface number matching rule is sufficient to handle
both modes. The cdc_ether blacklist entry is only relevant in
CDC ECM mode, but using a similar interface number based rule
helps document this as a transfer from one driver to another.
Other Huawei 02/06/ff devices are left with the cdc_ether driver
because we do not know whether they are based on Qualcomm chips.
The Huawei specific AT command management is known to be somewhat
hardware independent, and their usage of these class codes may
also be independent of the modem hardware.

Support for rt2800 device is broken since my
'rt2x00: rt2x00dev: use rt2x00dev->tx->limit'
patch. The changelog of that commit says that the
TX data queue is initialized already when the
rt2x00lib_probe_hw() function is called.
However as Jakub noticed it, this statement is not
correct. The queue->limit field is initialized in
the rt2x00queue_alloc_entries routine and that is
not yet called when rt2x00lib_probe_hw() runs.
Because the value of tx->limit contains zero, the
driver tries to allocate a kernel fifo with zero
size and kfifo_alloc rejects that with -EINVAL.

Move the data_queue field initialization from
the rt2x00queue_alloc_entries routine into the
rt2x00queue_init function. The initialization
code is not strictly related to the allocation,
and the change ensures that the queue_data fields
can be used in the probe routines.
The patch also introduces a helper function in
order to be able to get the correct data_queue_desc
structure for a given queue. This helper is only
needed temporarily and it will be removed later.

This patch adds TUNSETQUEUE ioctl to let userspace can temporarily disable or
enable a queue of macvtap. This is used to be compatible at API layer of tuntap
to simplify the userspace to manage the queues. This is done through introducing
a linked list to track all taps while using vlan->taps array to only track
active taps.

Linear search were used in both get_slot() and macvtap_get_queue(), this is
because:
- macvtap didn't reshuffle the array of taps when create or destroy a queue, so
when adding a new queue, macvtap must do linear search to find a location for
the new queue. This will also complicate the TUNSETQUEUE implementation for
multiqueue API.
- the queue itself didn't track the queue index, so the we must do a linear
search in the array to find the location of a existed queue.
The solution is straightforward: reshuffle the array and introduce a queue_index
to macvtap_queue.

based on #ifdef's and the platform device ID table matching seems to be a good
replacement -- we can use the 'driver_data' field of 'struct platform_device_id'

Currently, if fail_over_mac is set to active, then attempts to
change the MAC of the bond itself silently fail. However, if fail_over_mac
is set to follow, changes are permitted.
Permitting the bond's MAC to change with fail_over_mac=follow
will disrupt the follow functionality, which normally controls the
assignment of MAC address to the bond and its slaves, and can cause
multiple ports to be assigned the same MAC address. which will interfere
with the functioning of the device (where the device here is a

In unassociated BSS STA mode FW verifies both power save and power

sets power management flag according to mac80211 decision. As result, in
unassociated mode power management flag is down and power consumption is
high. Change power management enablement. When unassociated in BPS and

decision. Rely on mac80211 decision if associated. Add power management

This patch improves the logic used by the mvneta driver to find a MAC
address for a particular interface. Until now, it was only looking at
the Device Tree, and if no address was found, was falling back to
generating a random MAC address.
This patch adds the intermediate solution of reading the MAC address
from the hardware registers, in case it has been set by the
bootloader. So the order is now:
1) MAC address from the Device Tree
2) MAC address from the hardware registers
3) Random MAC address
This requires moving the MAC address initialization a little bit later
in the ->probe() code, because it now requires the hardware registers
to be remapped.

WOL is initilized in phy config_init, but there are standard apis
(set_wol/get_wol) for WOL in phy frame work. So this patch moves
WOL specific code from config_init to wol standard apis.

MAC addresses assigned by the PF to VFs were not kept in the PF driver
admin table. As a result, displaying the VF MACs from the PF interface
to user space showed zero address where in fact the VF got non-zero
address from the PF, fix that.

When a VF sense they didn't get MAC address, use random one. This will
address the case of administrator not assigning MAC to the VF through
the PF OS APIs and keep udev happy.

In the PF initialization, SRIOV is enabled before the PF is fully initialized.
This allows the kernel to probe the newly-exposed VFs before the PF is ready
to handle them (nested probes).
Have the probe method return the -EPROBE_DEFER value in this situation (instead
of the VF probe method retrying its initialization in a loop, and returning -EIO
on failure). When -EPROBE_DEFER is returned by the VF probe method, the kernel
itself will retry the probe after a suitable delay.

The AP mode needs to use the MCAST fifo for the MCAST
frames sent after the DTIM. This fifo needs to be
configured with the same parameters as the VOICE FIFO.
A separate SCD queue is mapped to this fifo - the cab_queue
(cab stands for Content After Beacon). This queue isn't
connected to any station, but rather to the MAC context.
This queue should (and is already) be set as the MCAST
queue - this is part of the of MAC context command.

According to the FW implementation, the quota command should
have a valid entry for each active binding (where 'active' in
this context means that the binding is known to the FW). In case
the binding should not get any quota, the 'quota' should be set
to zero.
Not setting an 0 quota for an active binding when all the MACs
in the binding are idle, i.e., not associated in case of managed
interface, will result in preventing the FW scheduler from entering
IDLE state and the FW from transitioning to low PS.

printing an error message that request_module() failed.
This will happen because the probe runs during iwlwifi's
