b50cb68f16 nvmem: imx-ocotp: Move i.MX6 write clock setup to dedicated function
The i.MX7S/D has a different set of timing requirements, as a pre-cursor to
adding the i.MX7 timing parameters, move the i.MX6 stuff to a dedicated

ffd9115f65 nvmem: imx-ocotp: Add support for banked OTP addressing
The i.MX7S/D takes the bank address in the CTRLn.ADDR field and the data

9d6a8dab8d nvmem: imx-ocotp: Restrict OTP write to IMX6 processors
i.MX7S/D have a different scheme for addressing the OTP registers inside
the OCOTP block. Currently it's possible to address the wrong OTP registers
given the disparity between IMX6 and IMX7 OTP addressing.

Since OTP programming is one-time destructive its important we restrict
this interface ASAP.

17eb18d674 nvmem: set nvmem->owner to nvmem->dev->driver->owner if unset
All nvmem drivers are supposed to set the owner field of struct
nvmem_config, but this matches nvmem->dev->driver->owner.

As far as I see in drivers/nvmem/ directory, all the drivers are
the case. So, make nvmem_register() set the nvmem's owner to the
associated driver's owner unless nvmem_config sets otherwise.

Remove .owner settings in the drivers that are now redundant.

The type of nvmem_config->priv is (void *), so sparse complains

Of course, we can shut up the sparse by marking __force, but a more
correct way is to put the base address into driver private data.

b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 11139

and resulted in the first patch in this series.

If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930

and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
   GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
   LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
   GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
   ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
   LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
   LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1

and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

8caef1fa91 nvmem: add a driver for the Amlogic Meson6/Meson8/Meson8b SoCs
This adds a driver to access the efuse on Amlogic Meson6, Meson8 and
Meson8b SoCs.
These SoCs are accessing the efuse IP block directly through the
registers in the "secbus" region. This makes it different from the Meson
GX efuse driver which uses the "secure monitor" firmware to access the
efuse.

The efuse on Meson6 can only read one byte at a time, while the efuse on
Meson8 and Meson8b always reads 4 bytes at a time. The new driver
supports both, but due to lack of hardware Meson6 support was not tested.

The hardware also supports writing. However, this is currently not
supported by the driver.

All i.MX6 SoCs have an OCOTP Controller with 4kbit fuses. The i.MX6SL is
an exception and has only 2kbit fuses.

In the TRM for the i.MX6DQ (IMX6QDRM - Rev 2, 06/2014) the fuses size is
described in chapter 46.1.1 with:
"32-bit word restricted program and read to 4Kbits of eFuse OTP(512x8)."

In the TRM for the i.MX6SL (IMX6SLRM - Rev 2, 06/2015) the fuses size is
described in chapter 34.1.1 with:
"32-bit word restricted program and read to 2 kbit of eFuse OTP(128x8)."

Since the Freescale Linux kernel OCOTP driver works with a fuses size of
2 kbit for the i.MX6SL, it looks like the TRM is wrong and the formula
to calculate the correct fuses size has to be 256x8.

287980e49f remove lots of IS_ERR_VALUE abuses
Most users of IS_ERR_VALUE() in the kernel are wrong, as they
pass an 'int' into a function that takes an 'unsigned long'
argument. This happens to work because the type is sign-extended
on 64-bit architectures before it gets converted into an
unsigned type.

However, anything that passes an 'unsigned short' or 'unsigned int'
argument into IS_ERR_VALUE() is guaranteed to be broken, as are
8-bit integers and types that are wider than 'unsigned long'.

Andrzej Hajda has already fixed a lot of the worst abusers that
were causing actual bugs, but it would be nice to prevent any
users that are not passing 'unsigned long' arguments.

This patch changes all users of IS_ERR_VALUE() that I could find
on 32-bit ARM randconfig builds and x86 allmodconfig. For the
moment, this doesn't change the definition of IS_ERR_VALUE()
because there are probably still architecture specific users
elsewhere.

Almost all the warnings I got are for files that are better off
using 'if (err)' or 'if (err < 0)'.
The only legitimate user I could find that we get a warning for
is the (32-bit only) freescale fman driver, so I did not remove
the IS_ERR_VALUE() there but changed the type to 'unsigned long'.
For 9pfs, I just worked around one user whose calling conventions
are so obscure that I did not dare change the behavior.

I was using this definition for testing:

 #define IS_ERR_VALUE(x) ((unsigned long*)NULL == (typeof (x)*)NULL && \
       unlikely((unsigned long long)(x) >= (unsigned long long)(typeof(x))-MAX_ERRNO))

which ends up making all 16-bit or wider types work correctly with
the most plausible interpretation of what IS_ERR_VALUE() was supposed
to return according to its users, but also causes a compile-time
warning for any users that do not pass an 'unsigned long' argument.

I suggested this approach earlier this year, but back then we ended
up deciding to just fix the users that are obviously broken. After
the initial warning that caused me to get involved in the discussion
(fs/gfs2/dir.c) showed up again in the mainline kernel, Linus
asked me to send the whole thing again.

795ddd18d3 nvmem: core: remove regmap dependency
nvmem uses regmap_raw_read/write apis to read/write data from providers,
regmap raw apis stopped working with recent kernels which removed raw
accessors on mmio bus. This resulted in broken nvmem for providers
which are based on regmap mmio bus. This issue can be fixed temporarly
by moving to other regmap apis, but we might hit same issue in future.
Moving to interfaces based on read/write callbacks from providers would
be more robust.

This patch removes regmap dependency from nvmem and introduces
read/write callbacks from the providers.

Without this patch nvmem providers like qfprom based on regmap mmio
bus would not work.

3b2b9ead32 nvmem: qfprom: Specify LE device endianness
The qfprom is a little endian device, but so far we've been
relying on the regmap mmio bus handling this for us without
explicitly stating that fact. After commit 4a98da2164cf
(regmap-mmio: Use native endianness for read/write, 2015-10-29),
the regmap mmio bus will read/write with the __raw_*() IO
accessors, instead of using the readl/writel() APIs that do
proper byte swapping for little endian devices.

So if we're running on a big endian processor and haven't
specified the endianness explicitly in the regmap config or in
DT, we're going to switch from doing little endian byte swapping
to big endian accesses without byte swapping, leading to some
confusing results. Specify the endianness explicitly so that the
regmap core properly byte swaps the accesses for us.

This commit adds support for NXP LPC18xx EEPROM memory found in NXP
LPC185x/3x and LPC435x/3x/2x/1x devices.

EEPROM size is 16384 bytes and it can be entirely read and
written/erased with 1 word (4 bytes) granularity. The last page
(128 bytes) contains the EEPROM initialization data and is not writable.

Erase/program time is less than 3ms. The EEPROM device requires a
~1500 kHz clock (min 800 kHz, max 1600 kHz) that is generated dividing
the system bus clock by the division factor, contained in the divider
register (minus 1 encoded).

EEPROM will be kept in Power Down mode except during read/write calls.

3d0b16a66c nvmem: sunxi: Move the SID driver to the nvmem framework
Now that we have the nvmem framework, we can consolidate the common
driver code. Move the driver to the framework, and hopefully, it will
fix the sysfs file creation race.

4ab11996b4 nvmem: qfprom: Add Qualcomm QFPROM support.
This patch adds QFPROM support driver which is used by other drivers
like thermal sensor and cpufreq.

On MSM parts there are some efuses (called qfprom) these fuses store
things like calibration data, speed bins.. etc. Drivers like cpufreq,
thermal sensors would read out this data for configuring the driver.

e2a5402ec7 nvmem: Add nvmem_device based consumer apis.
This patch adds read/write apis which are based on nvmem_device. It is
common that the drivers like omap cape manager or qcom cpr driver to
access bytes directly at particular offset in the eeprom and not from
nvmem cell info in DT. These driver would need to get access to the nvmem
directly, which is what these new APIS provide.

These wrapper apis would help such users to avoid code duplication in
there drivers and also avoid them reading a big eeprom blob and parsing
it internally in there driver.

69aba7948c nvmem: Add a simple NVMEM framework for consumers
This patch adds just consumers part of the framework just to enable easy
review.

Up until now, nvmem drivers were stored in drivers/misc, where they all
had to duplicate pretty much the same code to register a sysfs file,
allow in-kernel users to access the content of the devices they were
driving, etc.

This was also a problem as far as other in-kernel users were involved,
since the solutions used were pretty much different from on driver to
another, there was a rather big abstraction leak.

This introduction of this framework aims at solving this. It also
introduces DT representation for consumer devices to go get the data they
require (MAC Addresses, SoC/Revision ID, part numbers, and so on) from
the nvmems.

Having regmap interface to this framework would give much better
abstraction for nvmems on different buses.
