At the moment we create a small window only for 32bit devices, the window
maps 0..2GB of the PCI space only. For other devices we either use
a sketchy bypass or hardware bypass but the former can only work if
the amount of RAM is no bigger than the device's DMA mask and the latter
requires devices to support at least 59bit DMA.
This extends the default DMA window to the maximum size possible to allow
a wider DMA mask than just 32bit. The default window size is now limited
by the the iommu_table::it_map allocation bitmap which is a contiguous
array, 1 bit per an IOMMU page.
This increases the default IOMMU page size from hard coded 4K to
the system page size to allow wider DMA masks.
This increases the level number to not exceed the max order allocation
limit per TCE level. By the same time, this keeps minimal levels number
as 2 in order to save memory.
As the extended window now overlaps the 32bit MMIO region, this adds
an area reservation to iommu_init_table().
After this change the default window size is 0x80000000000==1<<43 so
devices limited to DMA mask smaller than the amount of system RAM can
still use more than just 2GB of memory for DMA.
This is an optimization and not a bug fix for DMA API usage.
With the on-demand allocation of indirect TCE table levels enabled and
2 levels, the first TCE level size is just
1<<ceil((log2(0x7ffffffffff+1)-16)/2)=16384 TCEs or 2 system pages.

Patch series "memblock: simplify several early memory allocation", v4.
These patches simplify some of the early memory allocations by replacing
usage of older memblock APIs with newer and shinier ones.
Quite a few places in the arch/ code allocated memory using a memblock
API that returns a physical address of the allocated area, then
converted this physical address to a virtual one and then used memset(0)
to clear the allocated range.
More recent memblock APIs do all the three steps in one call and their
usage simplifies the code.
It's important to note that regardless of API used, the core allocation
is nearly identical for any set of memblock allocators: first it tries
to find a free memory with all the constraints specified by the caller
and then falls back to the allocation with some or all constraints
disabled.
The first three patches perform the conversion of call sites that have
exact requirements for the node and the possible memory range.
The fourth patch is a bit one-off as it simplifies openrisc's
implementation of pte_alloc_one_kernel(), and not only the memblock
usage.
The fifth patch takes care of simpler cases when the allocation can be
satisfied with a simple call to memblock_alloc().
The sixth patch removes one-liner wrappers for memblock_alloc on arm and
unicore32, as suggested by Christoph.
This patch (of 6):
There are a several places that allocate memory using memblock APIs that
return a physical address, convert the returned address to the virtual
address and frequently also memset(0) the allocated range.
Update these places to use memblock allocators already returning a
virtual address. Use memblock functions that clear the allocated memory
instead of calling memset(0) where appropriate.
The calls to memblock_alloc_base() that were not followed by memset(0)
are replaced with memblock_alloc_try_nid_raw(). Since the latter does
not panic() when the allocation fails, the appropriate panic() calls are
added to the call sites.

With this change, neither of these will generate a

- Enable support for memory protection keys aka "pkeys" on Power7/8/9 when
using the hash table MMU.
- Extend our interrupt soft masking to support masking PMU interrupts as well
as "normal" interrupts, and then use that to implement local_t for a ~4x
speedup vs the current atomics-based implementation.
- A new driver "ocxl" for "Open Coherent Accelerator Processor Interface
(OpenCAPI)" devices.
- Support for new device tree properties on PowerVM to describe hotpluggable
memory and devices.
- Add support for CLOCK_{REALTIME/MONOTONIC}_COARSE to the 64-bit VDSO.
- Freescale updates from Scott:
"Contains fixes for CPM GPIO and an FSL PCI erratum workaround, plus a
minor cleanup patch."
As well as quite a lot of other changes all over the place, and small fixes and
cleanups as always.

Pull powerpc updates from Michael Ellerman:
"Highlights:
- Enable support for memory protection keys aka "pkeys" on Power7/8/9
when using the hash table MMU.
- Extend our interrupt soft masking to support masking PMU interrupts
as well as "normal" interrupts, and then use that to implement
local_t for a ~4x speedup vs the current atomics-based
implementation.
- A new driver "ocxl" for "Open Coherent Accelerator Processor
Interface (OpenCAPI)" devices.
- Support for new device tree properties on PowerVM to describe
hotpluggable memory and devices.
- Add support for CLOCK_{REALTIME/MONOTONIC}_COARSE to the 64-bit
VDSO.
- Freescale updates from Scott: fixes for CPM GPIO and an FSL PCI
erratum workaround, plus a minor cleanup patch.
As well as quite a lot of other changes all over the place, and small
fixes and cleanups as always.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

PA Semi will wake from low power state at the system reset interrupt,
with the event encoded in SRR1, rather than waking at the interrupt
vector that corresponds to that event.
The system reset handler for this platform decodes SRR1 event reason
and calls the interrupt handler to process it directly from the system
reset handlre.
A subsequent change will treat the system reset interrupt as a Linux NMI
with its own per-CPU stack, and this will no longer work. Remove the
external and decrementer handlers from the system reset handler.
- The external exception remains raised and will fire again at the
EE interrupt vector when system reset returns.
- The decrementer is set to 1 so it will be raised again and fire when
the system reset returns.
It is possible to branch to an idle handler from the system reset
interrupt (like POWER does), then restore a normal stack and restore
this optimisation. But simplicity wins for now.

NO_IRQ has been == 0 on powerpc for just over ten years (since commit
0ebfff1491 ("[POWERPC] Add new interrupt mapping core and change
platforms to use it")). It's also 0 on most other arches.
Although it's fairly harmless, every now and then it causes confusion
when a driver is built on powerpc and another arch which doesn't define
NO_IRQ. There's at least 6 definitions of NO_IRQ in drivers/, at least
some of which are to work around that problem.
So we'd like to remove it. This is fairly trivial in the arch code, we
just convert:
if (irq == NO_IRQ) to if (!irq)
if (irq != NO_IRQ) to if (irq)
irq = NO_IRQ; to irq = 0;
return NO_IRQ; to return 0;
And a few other odd cases as well.
At least for now we keep the #define NO_IRQ, because there is driver
code that uses NO_IRQ and the fixes to remove those will go via other
trees.
Note we also change some occurrences in PPC sound drivers, drivers/ps3,
and drivers/macintosh.

The dma-mapping core and the implementations do not change the DMA
attributes passed by pointer. Thus the pointer can point to const data.
However the attributes do not have to be a bitfield. Instead unsigned
long will do fine:
1. This is just simpler. Both in terms of reading the code and setting
attributes. Instead of initializing local attributes on the stack
and passing pointer to it to dma_set_attr(), just set the bits.
2. It brings safeness and checking for const correctness because the
attributes are passed by value.

The pdn (struct pci_dn) instances are allocated from memblock or
bootmem when creating PCI controller (hoses) in setup_arch(). PCI
hotplug, which will be supported by proceeding patches, releases
PCI device nodes and their corresponding pdn on unplugging event.
The memory chunks for pdn instances allocated from memblock or
bootmem are hard to reused after being released.
This delays creating pdn by pci_devs_phb_init() from setup_arch()
to core_initcall() so that they are allocated from slab. The memory
consumed by pdn can be released to system without problem during
PCI unplugging time. It indicates that pci_dn is unavailable in
setup_arch() and the the fixup on pdn (like AGP's) can't be carried
out that time. We have to do that in pcibios_root_bridge_prepare()
on maple/pasemi/powermac platforms where/when the pdn is available.
pcibios_root_bridge_prepare is called from subsys_initcall() which
is executed after core_initcall() so the code flow does not change.
At the mean while, the EEH device is created when pdn is populated,
meaning pdn and EEH device have same life cycle. In turn, we needn't
call eeh_dev_init() to create EEH device explicitly.

The struct irq_domain contains a "struct device_node *" field
(of_node) that is almost the only link between the irqdomain
and the device tree infrastructure.
In order to prepare for the removal of that field, convert all
users to use irq_domain_get_of_node() instead.

Currently, little endian is only supported on powernv and pseries,
however, Kconfigs still allow us to include other platforms in a LE
kernel, this may result in space wasting or even build error if some
BE-only platforms always assume they are built for a BE kernel. So just
modify the Kconfigs of BE-only platforms to remove them from being built
for a LE kernel.
For 32bit only platforms, nothing needs to be done, because
CPU_LITTLE_ENDIAN depends on PPC64. For 64bit supported platforms, add
CPU_BIG_ENDIAN to dependencies explicitly, so that these platforms will
be disabled for LE [Suggested-by: Cédric Le Goater <clg@fr.ibm.com>].

This fixes a race which can result in the same virtual IRQ number
being assigned to two different MSI interrupts. The most visible
consequence of that is usually a warning and stack trace from the
sysfs code about an attempt to create a duplicate entry in sysfs.
The race happens when one CPU (say CPU 0) is disposing of an MSI
while another CPU (say CPU 1) is setting up an MSI. CPU 0 calls
(for example) pnv_teardown_msi_irqs(), which calls
msi_bitmap_free_hwirqs() to indicate that the MSI (i.e. its
hardware IRQ number) is no longer in use. Then, before CPU 0 gets
to calling irq_dispose_mapping() to free up the virtal IRQ number,
CPU 1 comes in and calls msi_bitmap_alloc_hwirqs() to allocate an
MSI, and gets the same hardware IRQ number that CPU 0 just freed.
CPU 1 then calls irq_create_mapping() to get a virtual IRQ number,
which sees that there is currently a mapping for that hardware IRQ
number and returns the corresponding virtual IRQ number (which is
the same virtual IRQ number that CPU 0 was using). CPU 0 then
calls irq_dispose_mapping() and frees that virtual IRQ number.
Now, if another CPU comes along and calls irq_create_mapping(), it
is likely to get the virtual IRQ number that was just freed,
resulting in the same virtual IRQ number apparently being used for
two different hardware interrupts.
To fix this race, we just move the call to msi_bitmap_free_hwirqs()
to after the call to irq_dispose_mapping(). Since virq_to_hw()
doesn't work for the virtual IRQ number after irq_dispose_mapping()
has been called, we need to call it before irq_dispose_mapping() and
remember the result for the msi_bitmap_free_hwirqs() call.
The pattern of calling msi_bitmap_free_hwirqs() before
irq_dispose_mapping() appears in 5 places under arch/powerpc, and
appears to have originated in commit 05af7bd2d7 ("[POWERPC] MPIC
U3/U4 MSI backend") from 2007.

This adds a iommu_table_ops struct and puts pointer to it into
the iommu_table struct. This moves tce_build/tce_free/tce_get/tce_flush
callbacks from ppc_md to the new struct where they really belong to.
This adds the requirement for @it_ops to be initialized before calling
iommu_init_table() to make sure that we do not leave any IOMMU table
with iommu_table_ops uninitialized. This is not a parameter of
iommu_init_table() though as there will be cases when iommu_init_table()
will not be called on TCE tables, for example - VFIO.
This does s/tce_build/set/, s/tce_free/clear/ and removes "tce_"
redundant prefixes.
This removes tce_xxx_rm handlers from ppc_md but does not add
them to iommu_table_ops as this will be done later if we decide to
support TCE hypercalls in real mode. This removes _vm callbacks as
only virtual mode is supported by now so this also removes @rm parameter.
For pSeries, this always uses tce_buildmulti_pSeriesLP/
tce_buildmulti_pSeriesLP. This changes multi callback to fall back to
tce_build_pSeriesLP/tce_free_pSeriesLP if FW_FEATURE_MULTITCE is not
present. The reason for this is we still have to support "multitce=off"
boot parameter in disable_multitce() and we do not want to walk through
all IOMMU tables in the system and replace "multi" callbacks with single
ones.
For powernv, this defines _ops per PHB type which are P5IOC2/IODA1/IODA2.
This makes the callbacks for them public. Later patches will extend
callbacks for IODA1/2.
No change in behaviour is expected.

Move the PaSemi MPIC msi subsystem to use the pci_controller_ops
structure rather than ppc_md for MSI related PCI controller
operations.
As with fsl_msi, operations are plugged in at the subsys level, after
controller creation. Again, we iterate over all controllers and
populate them with the MSI ops.
