Some HP BIOS has dummy WMI 0x05 cmd and it causes wireless set cmd to fail.
This patch fixes the problem by detecting "2009 BIOS or later" flag which
determines whether WMI 0x1b is supported and is used to replace WMI 0x05.

Some BIOS versions/Vaio models apparently ship with two nearly identical
functions to handle backlight related controls.
The only difference seems to be:
If (LEqual (BUF1, 0x40))
{
Store (0x40, P80H)
Store (BUF2, Local0)
- And (Local0, One, Local0)
+ And (Local0, 0x03, Local0)
Store (Local0, ^^H_EC.KLPC)
}
Avoid erroring out on initialization and messing things up on cleanup
for now since we never call into these methods with anything different
than 1 or 0.

All my testing has been on laptops with a hw killswitch, so to be on the
safe side disable rfkill functionality on models without a hw killswitch for
now. Once we gather some feedback on laptops without a hw killswitch this
decision maybe reconsidered.

Setting force_rfkill will cause the dell-laptop rfkill code to skip its
whitelist checks, this will allow individual users to override the whitelist,
as well as to gather info from users to improve the checks.

Instead when hw-blocked always write 1 to the blocked bit for the radio in
question. This is necessary to properly set all the blocked bits for hw-switch
controlled radios to 1 after power-on and resume.

This is necessary for 3 reasons:
1) To apply sw_state changes made while hw-blocked
2) To set all the blocked bits for hw-switch controlled radios to 1 when the
switch gets changed to off, this is necessary on some models to actually
turn the radio status LEDs off.
3) On some models non hw-switch controlled radios will have their block bit
cleared (potentially undoing a soft-block) on hw-switch toggle, this
restores the sw-block in this case.

This makes dell-laptop's rfkill code consistent with other drivers which
allow sw_state changes while hw blocked.

On machines with a hardware switch, the blocking settings can not be changed
through a Fn + wireless-key combo, so there is no reason to read back the
blocking state from the BIOS.
Reading back is not only not necessary it is actually harmful, since on some
machines the blocking state will be cleared to all 0 after a wireless switch
toggle, even for radios not controlled by the hw-switch (yeah firmware bugs).
This causes "magic" changes to the sw_state. This is inconsistent with other
rfkill drivers which preserve the sw_state over a hw kill on / off.

Signed-off-by: Matthew Garrett <matthew.garrett@nebula.com>
The query callback should only update the hw_state, see the comment in
net/rfkill/core.c in rfkill_set_block, which is its only caller.
rfkill_set_block will modify the sw_state directly after calling query so
calling set_sw_state is an expensive NOP.

The rfkill functionality was removed from the dell-laptop driver because it
was causing problems on various non Latitude models, and the blacklist kept
growing and growing. In the thread discussing this Dell mentioned that they
only QA the rfkill acpi interface on Latitudes and indeed there have been
no blacklist entries for Latitudes.
Note that the blacklist contained no Vostros either, and most Vostros have
a hardware switch too, so we could consider supporting Vostros with a
hardware switch too.

Without rfkill functionality in dell-laptop I have the following problems:
-If the hardware radio switch is set to disable the radio, then userspace
will still think it can use wireless and bluetooth.
-The wwan / 3g modem cannot be soft blocked without the dell-laptop rfkill
functionality
I know the rfkill functionality was removed from the dell-laptop driver because
it caused more problems then it fixed, and the blacklist for it was growing out
of control.
But in the thread discussing this Dell mentioned that they only QA the rfkill
acpi interface on Latitudes and indeed there have been no blacklist entries
for Latitudes. Therefor I would like to bring the rfkill functionality back
only for Latitudes. This patch is a straight-forward revert. The next patch
in this set will drop the blacklist and replace it with a Latitude check.
This reverts commit a6c2390cd6.

mrst is used as common name to represent all intel_mid type
soc's. But moorsetwon is just one of the intel_mid soc. So
renamed them to use intel_mid.
This patch mainly renames the variables and related
functions that uses *mrst* prefix with *intel_mid*.
To ensure that there are no functional changes, I have compared
the objdump of related files before and after rename and found
the only difference is symbol and name changes.

soc's. So renamed them as below.
mrst/mrst.c -> intel-mid/intel-mid.c
mrst/vrtc.c -> intel-mid/intel_mid_vrtc.c
mrst/early_printk_mrst.c -> intel-mid/intel_mid_vrtc.c
pci/mrst.c -> pci/intel_mid_pci.c
Also, renamed the corresponding header files and made changes
to the driver files that included these header files.

The tpacpi_acpi_handle_locate function makes use of acpi_get_devices to
locate handle for ACPI video by HID, the problem is, ACPI video node
doesn't really have HID defined(i.e. no _HID control method is defined
for video device), so.. that function would fail. This can be solved by
enhancing the callback function for acpi_get_devices, where we can use
acpi_device_hid function to check if the ACPI node corresponds to a
video controller.
In addition to that, the _BCL control method only exists under a video
output device node, not a video controller device node. So to evaluate
_BCL, we need the handle of a video output device node, which is child
of the located video controller node from tpacpi_acpi_handle_locate.
The two fix are necessary for some Thinkpad models to emit notification
on backlight hotkey press as a result of evaluation of _BCL.

This patch does two things,
1. enumerate the ideapad device node to platform bus.
2. convert the current driver from ACPI bus to platform bus.
Note, with this patch, the platform device node created by ACPI,
with the name VPC2004:00, is used as the parent device of
the input, backlight, rfkill sysfs class device.
Plus the ideapad_platform private sysfs attributes,
i.e. camera_power and fan_mode, are also moved to the new
platform device node.
The previous platform device node "ideapad" is removed.

The current code use ideapad_handle and ideapad_priv to store
some information for the ideapad device.
But as they are global/static variables, the driver will be broken
if there are more than one ideapad ACPI device node on a platform.
Although this does not happen for now and may not happen in the future,
but still, this is a software bug.
Remove these two variables in this patch.

drivers/platform/olpc/olpc-ec.c: initialise earlier
Being a low-level component, various drivers (e.g. olpc-battery) assume
that it is ok to communicate with the OLPC Embedded Controller during
probe. Therefore the OLPC EC driver must be initialised before other
drivers try to use it. This was the case until it was recently moved
out of arch/x86 and restructured around commits ac2504151f ("Platform:
OLPC: turn EC driver into a platform_driver") and 85f90cf6ca ("x86:
OLPC: switch over to using new EC driver on x86").
Use arch_initcall so that olpc-ec is readied earlier, matching the
previous behaviour.
Fixes a regression introduced in Linux-3.6 where various drivers such as
olpc-battery and olpc-xo1-sci failed to load due to an inability to
communicate with the EC. The user-visible effect was a lack of battery
monitoring, missing ebook/lid switch input devices, etc.

Intel Smart Connect is an Intel-specific ACPI interface for configuring
devices to wake up at regular intervals so they can pull down mail or other
internet updates, and then go to sleep again. If a user enables this in
Windows and then reboots into Linux, the device may wake up if it's put to
sleep. Since there's no Linux userland support for any of this, the machine
will then remain awake until something else puts it back to sleep.
I haven't figured out all that much about how this works (there's a bunch
of different ACPI calls available on the device), but this seems to be
enough to turn it off. We can add more features to this driver if anyone
ever cares about figuring out what the rest of the calls do or writing some
Linux userspace to implement the rest of it.

Intel Rapid Start Technology is a firmware-based suspend-to-disk
implementation. Once placed in S3, the device will wake once either a
timeout elapses or the battery reaches a critical level. It will then resume
to the firmware and copy the contents of RAM to a specialised partition, and
then power off the machine. If the user turns the machine back on the
firmware will copy the contents of the partition back to RAM and then resume
from S3 as normal.
This driver provides an interface for configuring the wakeup events and
timeout. It still requires firmware support and an appropriate suspend
partition.

hotkey_kthread() does try_to_freeze() under hotkey_thread_mutex.
We can simply kill this mutex, hotkey_poll_stop_sync() does not need to
serialize with hotkey_kthread(). When kthread_stop() returns the thread
is already dead, it called do_exit()->complete_vfork_done().

The driver will not quite work if someone unbinds the platform device
from the platform driver via sysfs (moreover it will bomb is the driver
built into the kernel as hp_wmi_bios_remove is marked as __exit and will
not be present in the kernel).
To fix it let's use platform_driver_probe() instead of
platform_driver_register(), which disables binding/unbinding via sysfs.

once module is initialized.

For machines with AMD graphic chips, it will send out WMI event and ACPI
interrupt at the same time while hitting the hotkey. BIOS will notify the
system the next display output mode throught WMI event code, so that
windows' application can show an OSD to tell the user which mode will be
taken effect. User can hit the display toggle key many times within 2
seconds to choose the mode they want. After 2 seconds, WMI dirver should
send a WMIMethod(SDSP) command to tell the BIOS which mode the user chose.
And then BIOS will raise another ACPI interrupt to tell the system to
really switch the display mode.
In Linux desktop, we don't have this kind of OSD to let users to choose
the mode they want, so we don't need to call WMIMethod(SDSP) to have
another ACPI interrupt. To simplify the problem, we just have to ignore
the WMI event, and let the first ACPI interrupt to send out the key event.
For the need, here comes another quirk to add machines with this kind of
behavior. When the WMI driver receives the display toggle WMI event, and
found the machin is in the list, it will do nothing and let ACPI video
driver to report the key event.

So, we have to update wlan LED status explicitly.

not in the wapf=4 quirk.

Here is the big driver core merge for 3.9-rc1
There are two major series here, both of which touch lots of drivers all
over the kernel, and will cause you some merge conflicts:
- add a new function called devm_ioremap_resource() to properly be
able to check return values.
- remove CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL
If you need me to provide a merged tree to handle these resolutions,
please let me know.
Other than those patches, there's not much here, some minor fixes and
updates.

"This is part of on-going cleanups to remove / minimize usages of
workqueue interfaces which are deprecated and/or misleading.
This round drops a number of usages of [delayed_]work_pending(), which
are dangerous as they lack any form of synchronization and thus often
lead to buggy / unnecessary code. There are a couple legitimate use
cases in kernel. Hopefully, they can be converted and
[delayed_]work_pending() can be removed completely. Even if not,
removing most of misuses should make it more difficult to find
examples of misuses and thus slow down growth of them.

It has been reported that running this driver on some Samsung laptops
with EFI can cause those machines to become bricked as detailed in the
following report,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1040557
There have also been reports of this driver causing Machine Check
Exceptions on recent EFI-enabled Samsung laptops,
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47121
So disable it if booting from EFI since this driver relies on
grovelling around in the BIOS memory map which isn't going to work.

Originally 'efi_enabled' indicated whether a kernel was booted from
EFI firmware. Over time its semantics have changed, and it now
indicates whether or not we are booted on an EFI machine with
bit-native firmware, e.g. 64-bit kernel with 64-bit firmware.
The immediate motivation for this patch is the bug report at,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1040557
which details how running a platform driver on an EFI machine that is
designed to run under BIOS can cause the machine to become
bricked. Also, the following report,
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47121
details how running said driver can also cause Machine Check
Exceptions. Drivers need a new means of detecting whether they're
running on an EFI machine, as sadly the expression,
if (!efi_enabled)
hasn't been a sufficient condition for quite some time.
Users actually want to query 'efi_enabled' for different reasons -
what they really want access to is the list of available EFI
facilities.
For instance, the x86 reboot code needs to know whether it can invoke
the ResetSystem() function provided by the EFI runtime services, while
the ACPI OSL code wants to know whether the EFI config tables were
mapped successfully. There are also checks in some of the platform
driver code to simply see if they're running on an EFI machine (which
would make it a bad idea to do BIOS-y things).
This patch is a prereq for the samsung-laptop fix patch.

The second argument of ACPI driver .remove() operation is only used
by the ACPI processor driver and the value passed to that driver
through it is always available from the given struct acpi_device
object's removal_type field. For this reason, the second ACPI driver
.remove() argument is in fact useless, so drop it.

This imports the current Google code and cleans it up slightly to use pr_ and
to properly request its resources.
Goldfish is an emulator used for Android development. It has a virtual bus where
the emulator passes platform device information to the guest which then creates
the appropriate devices.
This part of the emulation is not architecture specific so should not be hiding
in architecture trees as it does in the Google Android tree. The constants it
uses do depend on the platform and the platform creates the bus device which then
talks to the emulator to ascertain the actual devices present.

Since commit 8871e99f89 ('asus-laptop: HRWS/HWRS typo'), module
initialisation is very slow on the Asus UL30A. The HWRS method takes
about 12 seconds to run, and subsequent initialisation also seems to
be delayed. Since we don't really need the result, don't bother
calling it on init. Those who are curious can still get the result
through the 'infos' device attribute.

SN06 in some cases returns an Integer instead of a buffer. While the
code handling the return value was trying to cope with the difference,
the memcpy call was not making any difference between the two types of
acpi_object union. This regression was introduced in 3.5.
While there also rework the return value logic to improve readability.

and quite a few of them are buggy.

Pull workqueue changes from Tejun Heo:
"This is workqueue updates for v3.7-rc1. A lot of activities this
round including considerable API and behavior cleanups.
* delayed_work combines a timer and a work item. The handling of the
timer part has always been a bit clunky leading to confusing
cancelation API with weird corner-case behaviors. delayed_work is
updated to use new IRQ safe timer and cancelation now works as
expected.
* Another deficiency of delayed_work was lack of the counterpart of
mod_timer() which led to cancel+queue combinations or open-coded
timer+work usages. mod_delayed_work[_on]() are added.
These two delayed_work changes make delayed_work provide interface
and behave like timer which is executed with process context.
* A work item could be executed concurrently on multiple CPUs, which
is rather unintuitive and made flush_work() behavior confusing and
half-broken under certain circumstances. This problem doesn't
exist for non-reentrant workqueues. While non-reentrancy check
isn't free, the overhead is incurred only when a work item bounces
across different CPUs and even in simulated pathological scenario
the overhead isn't too high.
All workqueues are made non-reentrant. This removes the
distinction between flush_[delayed_]work() and
flush_[delayed_]_work_sync(). The former is now as strong as the
latter and the specified work item is guaranteed to have finished
execution of any previous queueing on return.
* In addition to the various bug fixes, Lai redid and simplified CPU
hotplug handling significantly.
* Joonsoo introduced system_highpri_wq and used it during CPU
hotplug.
There are two merge commits - one to pull in IRQ safe timer from
tip/timers/core and the other to pull in CPU hotplug fixes from
wq/for-3.6-fixes as Lai's hotplug restructuring depended on them."
Fixed a number of trivial conflicts, but the more interesting conflicts
were silent ones where the deprecated interfaces had been used by new
code in the merge window, and thus didn't cause any real data conflicts.
Tejun pointed out a few of them, I fixed a couple more.

If the user bit is set, that mean BIOS can't set and record the wlan
status, it will report the value read from id ASUS_WMI_DEVID_WLAN_LED
(0x00010012) while we query the wlan status by id ASUS_WMI_DEVID_WLAN
(0x00010011) through WMI.
So, we have to record wlan status in id ASUS_WMI_DEVID_WLAN_LED
(0x00010012) while setting the wlan status through WMI.
This is also the behavior that windows app will do.
Quote from ASUS application engineer
===
When you call WMIMethod(DSTS, 0x00010011) to get WLAN status, it may return
(1) 0x00050001 (On)
(2) 0x00050000 (Off)
(3) 0x00030001 (On)
(4) 0x00030000 (Off)
(5) 0x00000002 (Unknown)
(1), (2) means that the model has hardware GPIO for WLAN, you can call
WMIMethod(DEVS, 0x00010011, 1 or 0) to turn WLAN on/off.
(3), (4) means that the model doesn’t have hardware GPIO, you need to use
API or driver library to turn WLAN on/off, and call
WMIMethod(DEVS, 0x00010012, 1 or 0) to set WLAN LED status.
After you set WLAN LED status, you can see the WLAN status is changed with
WMIMethod(DSTS, 0x00010011). Because the status is recorded lastly
(ex: Windows), you can use it for synchronization.
(5) means that the model doesn’t have WLAN device.
WLAN is the ONLY special case with upper rule.
For other device, like Bluetooth, you just need use
WMIMethod(DSTS, 0x00010013) to get, and WMIMethod(DEVS, 0x00010013, 1 or 0)
to set.

Convert delayed_work users doing cancel_delayed_work() followed by
queue_delayed_work() to mod_delayed_work().
Most conversions are straight-forward. Ones worth mentioning are,
* drivers/edac/edac_mc.c: edac_mc_workq_setup() converted to always
use mod_delayed_work() and cancel loop in
edac_mc_reset_delay_period() is dropped.
* drivers/platform/x86/thinkpad_acpi.c: No need to remember whether
watchdog is active or not. @fan_watchdog_active and related code
dropped.
* drivers/power/charger-manager.c: Seemingly a lot of
delayed_work_pending() abuse going on here.
[delayed_]work_pending() are unsynchronized and racy when used like
this. I converted one instance in fullbatt_handler(). Please
conver the rest so that it invokes workqueue APIs for the intended
target state rather than trying to game work item pending state
transitions. e.g. if timer should be modified - call
mod_delayed_work(), canceled - call cancel_delayed_work[_sync]().
* drivers/thermal/thermal_sys.c: thermal_zone_device_set_polling()
simplified. Note that round_jiffies() calls in this function are
meaningless. round_jiffies() work on absolute jiffies not delta
delay used by delayed_work.
v2: Tomi pointed out that __cancel_delayed_work() users can't be
safely converted to mod_delayed_work(). They could be calling it
from irq context and if that happens while delayed_work_timer_fn()
is running, it could deadlock. __cancel_delayed_work() users are
dropped.

The BIOS of these machines will try to enable/disable wifi/bt in
their own sqeuence. It won't read the enable/disable parameter
in WMI command, but just iterates the wifi/bt's status described below
1st. enable wifi, enable bt
2nd. disable wifi, enable bt
3rd. enable wifi, disable bt
4th. disable wifi, disable bt
That will totally mess up the rfkill status, since we will try to read
wifi and bt's status and reset it again while booting up.
To avoid this, these machines should set the wapf value to 4,
that will let software totally control the wifi/bt's status and
BIOS will do nothing instead of sending out the 0x88(KEY_RFKILL) event
instead of 0x5e(wifi enable), 0x5f(wifi diable), 0x7d(bt enable), and
0x7e(bt disable) through WMI.
With this patch[1], it will handle the KEY_RFKILL event correctly and
will block/unblock wifi and bt together.

Since ACPI devices ids were changed to use always upper-case letters, the ACPI
id of the extra keys (FNBT0000) was not maching the one defined in the driver
(FnBT0000), causing the extra keys not to work.
The patch replaces the driver id with the one reported by ACPI, fixing the
problem.

According to the ASUS WMI spec., to enable resume on lid open should
use the device ID(0x00120032), but it doesn't work indeed.
After discussing with ASUS' BIOS engineer, they say wake on lid open
doesn't have a uniq device ID(0x00120032) in the BIOS. It shares the same
device ID with deep S3(0x00120031), and the deep S3(resume on lid open)
is disable by default.
Adding this option in asus wmi sysfs
/sys/devices/platform/<platform>/lid_resume
so that userspace apps can enable/disable this feature by themselves.

Some h/w that can adjust screen brightness through ACPI functions, but
can't turn on/off the backlight power correctly. So, we list those h/w in
quirks and try to turn on/off the backlight power through WMI.
