Lane bonding allows aggregating two 10/20 Gb/s (depending on the
generation) lanes into a single 20/40 Gb/s bonded link. This allows
sharing the full bandwidth more efficiently. In order to establish lane
bonding we need to check that lane bonding is possible through link
controller and that both ends of the link actually supports 2x widths.
This also means that all the paths should be established through the
primary port so update tb_path_alloc() to handle this as well.
Lane bonding is supported starting from Falcon Ridge (2nd generation)
controllers.
We also expose the current speed and number of lanes under each device
except the host router following similar attribute naming than USB bus.
Expose speed and number of lanes for both directions to allow possibility
of asymmetric link in the future.

This patch adds support for power management private feature under
FPGA Management Engine (FME). This private feature driver registers
a hwmon for power (power1_input), thresholds information, e.g.
(power1_max / crit / max_alarm / crit_alarm) and also read-only sysfs
interfaces for other power management information. For configuration,
user could write threshold values via above power1_max / crit sysfs

"The major feature in this time is IMA support for measuring and
appraising appended file signatures. In addition are a couple of bug
fixes and code cleanup to use struct_size().
In addition to the PE/COFF and IMA xattr signatures, the kexec kernel
image may be signed with an appended signature, using the same
scripts/sign-file tool that is used to sign kernel modules.
Similarly, the initramfs may contain an appended signature.
This contained a lot of refactoring of the existing appended signature
verification code, so that IMA could retain the existing framework of
calculating the file hash once, storing it in the IMA measurement list
and extending the TPM, verifying the file's integrity based on a file
hash or signature (eg. xattrs), and adding an audit record containing
the file hash, all based on policy. (The IMA support for appended
signatures patch set was posted and reviewed 11 times.)
The support for appended signature paves the way for adding other
signature verification methods, such as fs-verity, based on a single
system-wide policy. The file hash used for verifying the signature and
the signature, itself, can be included in the IMA measurement list"

Currently, a value of '1" is written to /sys/kernel/slab/<slab>/shrink
file to shrink the slab by flushing out all the per-cpu slabs and free
slabs in partial lists. This can be useful to squeeze out a bit more
memory under extreme condition as well as making the active object counts
in /proc/slabinfo more accurate.
This usually applies only to the root caches, as the SLUB_MEMCG_SYSFS_ON
option is usually not enabled and "slub_memcg_sysfs=1" not set. Even if
memcg sysfs is turned on, it is too cumbersome and impractical to manage
all those per-memcg sysfs files in a real production system.
So there is no practical way to shrink memcg caches. Fix this by enabling
a proper write to the shrink sysfs file of the root cache to scan all the
available memcg caches and shrink them as well. For a non-root memcg
cache (when SLUB_MEMCG_SYSFS_ON or slub_memcg_sysfs is on), only that
cache will be shrunk when written.
On a 2-socket 64-core 256-thread arm64 system with 64k page after
a parallel kernel build, the the amount of memory occupied by slabs
before shrinking slabs were:
# grep task_struct /proc/slabinfo
task_struct 53137 53192 4288 61 4 : tunables 0 0
0 : slabdata 872 872 0
# grep "^S[lRU]" /proc/meminfo
Slab: 3936832 kB
SReclaimable: 399104 kB
SUnreclaim: 3537728 kB
After shrinking slabs (by echoing "1" to all shrink files):
# grep "^S[lRU]" /proc/meminfo
Slab: 1356288 kB
SReclaimable: 263296 kB
SUnreclaim: 1092992 kB

Here is the big staging/iio driver update for 5.4-rc1.
Lots of churn here, with a few driver/filesystems moving out of staging
finally:
- erofs moved out of staging
- greybus core code moved out of staging
Along with that, a new filesytem has been added:
- extfat
to provide support for those devices requiring that filesystem (i.e.
transfer devices to/from windows systems or printers.)
Other than that, there a number of new IIO drivers, and lots and lots
and lots of staging driver cleanups and minor fixes as people continue
to dig into those for easy changes.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues.

- Fix the menu and teo cpuidle governors to allow the scheduler tick
to be stopped if PM QoS is used to limit the CPU idle state exit
latency in some cases (Rafael Wysocki).
- Increase the resolution of the play_idle() argument to microseconds
for more fine-grained injection of CPU idle cycles (Daniel
Lezcano).
- Switch over some users of cpuidle notifiers to the new QoS-based
frequency limits and drop the CPUFREQ_ADJUST and CPUFREQ_NOTIFY
policy notifier events (Viresh Kumar).
- Add new cpufreq driver based on nvmem for sun50i (Yangtao Li).
- Add support for MT8183 and MT8516 to the mediatek cpufreq driver
(Andrew-sh.Cheng, Fabien Parent).

Backlight brightness curves can have different shapes. The two main
types are linear and non-linear curves. The human eye doesn't
perceive linearly increasing/decreasing brightness as linear (see
also 88ba95bedb "backlight: pwm_bl: Compute brightness of LED
linearly to human eye"), hence many backlights use non-linear (often
logarithmic) brightness curves. The type of curve currently is opaque
to userspace, so userspace often uses more or less reliable heuristics
(like the number of brightness levels) to decide whether to treat a
backlight device as linear or non-linear.
Export the type of the brightness curve via the new sysfs attribute
'scale'. The value of the attribute can be 'linear', 'non-linear' or
'unknown'. For devices that don't provide information about the scale
of their brightness curve the value of the 'scale' attribute is 'unknown'.

Add charset encoding to f2fs to support casefolding. It is modeled after
the same feature introduced in commit c83ad55eaa ("ext4: include charset
encoding information in the superblock")
Currently this is not compatible with encryption, similar to the current
ext4 imlpementation. This will change in the future.
>From the ext4 patch:
"""
The s_encoding field stores a magic number indicating the encoding
format and version used globally by file and directory names in the
filesystem. The s_encoding_flags defines policies for using the charset
encoding, like how to handle invalid sequences. The magic number is
mapped to the exact charset table, but the mapping is specific to ext4.
Since we don't have any commitment to support old encodings, the only
encoding I am supporting right now is utf8-12.1.0.
The current implementation prevents the user from enabling encoding and
per-directory encryption on the same filesystem at the same time. The
incompatibility between these features lies in how we do efficient
directory searches when we cannot be sure the encryption of the user
provided fname will match the actual hash stored in the disk without
decrypting every directory entry, because of normalization cases. My
quickest solution is to simply block the concurrent use of these
features for now, and enable it later, once we have a better solution.

Expose kernel's BTF under the name vmlinux to be more uniform with using

Make .BTF section allocated and expose its contents through sysfs.
/sys/kernel/btf directory is created to contain all the BTFs present
inside kernel. Currently there is only kernel's main BTF, represented as
/sys/kernel/btf/kernel file. Once kernel modules' BTFs are supported,
each module will expose its BTF as /sys/kernel/btf/<module-name> file.
Current approach relies on a few pieces coming together:
1. pahole is used to take almost final vmlinux image (modulo .BTF and
kallsyms) and generate .BTF section by converting DWARF info into
BTF. This section is not allocated and not mapped to any segment,
though, so is not yet accessible from inside kernel at runtime.
2. objcopy dumps .BTF contents into binary file and subsequently
convert binary file into linkable object file with automatically
generated symbols _binary__btf_kernel_bin_start and
_binary__btf_kernel_bin_end, pointing to start and end, respectively,
of BTF raw data.
3. final vmlinux image is generated by linking this object file (and
kallsyms, if necessary). sysfs_btf.c then creates
/sys/kernel/btf/kernel file and exposes embedded BTF contents through
it. This allows, e.g., libbpf and bpftool access BTF info at
well-known location, without resorting to searching for vmlinux image
on disk (location of which is not standardized and vmlinux image
might not be even available in some scenarios, e.g., inside qemu
during testing).
Alternative approach using .incbin assembler directive to embed BTF
contents directly was attempted but didn't work, because sysfs_proc.o is
not re-compiled during link-vmlinux.sh stage. This is required, though,
to update embedded BTF data (initially empty data is embedded, then
pahole generates BTF info and we need to regenerate sysfs_btf.o with
updated contents, but it's too late at that point).
If BTF couldn't be generated due to missing or too old pahole,
sysfs_btf.c handles that gracefully by detecting that
_binary__btf_kernel_bin_start (weak symbol) is 0 and not creating
/sys/kernel/btf at all.
v2->v3:
- added Documentation/ABI/testing/sysfs-kernel-btf (Greg K-H);
- created proper kobject (btf_kobj) for btf directory (Greg K-H);
- undo v2 change of reusing vmlinux, as it causes extra kallsyms pass
due to initially missing __binary__btf_kernel_bin_{start/end} symbols;
v1->v2:
- allow kallsyms stage to re-use vmlinux generated by gen_btf();
