commit 5faa5df1fa (inetpeer: Invalidate the inetpeer tree along with
the routing cache) added a race :
Before freeing an inetpeer, we must respect a RCU grace period, and make
sure no user will attempt to increase refcnt.
inetpeer_invalidate_tree() waits for a RCU grace period before inserting
inetpeer tree into gc_list and waking the worker. At that time, no
concurrent lookup can find a inetpeer in this tree.

Just like the AP mode patch, instead of setting
the channel and then joining the mesh network,
provide the channel to join the network on to
the join_mesh() function.
Like in AP mode, you can also give the channel
to the join-mesh nl80211 command now.
Unlike AP mode, it picks a default channel if
none was given.
As libertas uses mesh mode interfaces but has
no join_mesh callback and we can't simply break
it, keep some compatibility code for that case
and configure the channel directly for it.
In the non-libertas case, where we store the
channel until join, allow setting it while the
interface is down.

If it worked (Felix says it doesn't right now), the
typical use-case for WDS interfaces would be to be
slaved to AP mode interfaces. Therefore, it isn't
necessary to set the channel on WDS interfaces. As
they don't support powersave or anything like that,
they also couldn't use a different channel anyway.

Instead of setting the channel first and then
starting the AP, let cfg80211 store the channel
and provide it as one of the AP settings.
This means that now you have to set the channel
before you can start an AP interface, but since
hostapd/wpa_supplicant always do that we're OK
with this change.
Alternatively, it's now possible to give the
channel as an attribute to the start-ap nl80211
command, overriding any preset channel.

added support for offchannel queue mapping. However, this
mapping is only valid when the driver supports
IEEE80211_HW_QUEUE_CONTROL.
Check whether the driver supports IEEE80211_HW_QUEUE_CONTROL
before setting the hw_queue to the mapped offchannel queue.
(This patch doesn't have any actual effect, because

This patch enables filtering duplicated advertising reports during
LE scan.
Some LE devices advertise using very small intervals generating lots
of equal advertising report events to the host. Each event generates
a mgmt_device_found event which is copied to userspace.
Enabling this feature, duplicated advertising reports are filtered
at controller's link layer. This way, the controller doesn't wake up
the host to report duplicated advertising reports and, consequently,
less data is copied to userspace.

This patch changes the default MTU value for L2CAP ATT fixed channel
to L2CAP_DEFAULT_MTU (672 octets).
Differently from others L2CAP channels, in L2CAP ATT fixed channel
there is no MTU negotiation. The MTU value for that channel is up to
the L2CAP implementation. The only restriction in L2CAP spec is the
MTU value must not be less than 23 octets.
At ATT protocol level (on top of L2CAP), we have the ATT_MTU which
defines the maximum size of any ATT message sent between client and
server. GATT profile defines ATT_MTU default value to 23 octets. If
a GATT based profile wants to use ATT_MTU greater than 23 octets
(e.g. HID over GATT profile), it should negotiate a new value by
executing the GATT Exchange MTU sub-procedure.
Thus, in order to support any value of ATT_MTU negotiated at ATT
protocol level, our L2CAP implementation should have L2CAP ATT
fixed channel MTU equal or greater than ATT_MAX_MTU (512 octets).

This patch changes way LE Connection Complete event with error status are

should not be used to search for existing hci_conn. Instead, any hci_conn
with BT_CONNECT state should be matched since there can be only one
pending LE outgoing connection at any time.
If not handled properly, appriopriate hci_conn will not be removed and
subsequent connection to given peer will try to reuse it without making
actual connection attempt.

The ERTM specification lays out three scenarios for sending SREJ
frames to request retransmission of specific frames. l2cap_send_srej
requests all frames up to a given txseq that are not already queued
for reassembly. l2cap_send_srej_tail only requests the most recent
missing frame. l2cap_send_srej_list resends SREJ frames for data that
was requested for resend but never received.

This adds l2cap_ertm_resend to retransmit frames based on the sequence
numbers in chan->retrans_list. If the retransmit limit is reached for
any individual frame is reached, the connection is dropped. skbs that
are cloned already are copied to avoid modifying shared data (this is
uncommon). To retransmit all frames, l2cap_retransmit_all now builds
a list of all unacked sequence numbers and then calls
l2cap_ertm_resend.

This adds a top-level state machine with handlers for two receive
states defined in the ERTM spec, RECV and SREJ_SENT. The reqseq value
of the incoming frame is also validated at the top level and a
disconnection is forced if it is invalid. The actions for the RECV

the ERTM specification.

This action now exactly matches what is defined in the ERTM
specification, including clearing the remote busy flag and setting the
retransmit timer rather than retransmitting frames directly. The spec
does not retransmit frames as part of this action, since
retransmission is only triggered by REJ, SREJ, or an RR with the final
bit set. struct l2cap_ctrl is also used to set up header values.

Streaming mode reception is fairly simple, with in-sequence frames
being reassembled as they arrive. Out-of-sequence frames are dropped,
and also clear any partially-assembled SDUs that may exist.
The packet classifier determines if the txseq value of the incoming
packet is expected, invalid (resulting in a disconnection), invalid
(ignorable), duplicate, or having to do with an SREJ request that was
previously sent. The rules for each classification are defined in the
ERTM specification, and consolidating these rules in one place helps
clarify the receive state machine.

2ead70b839 that is present in all
kernels starting at v3.0.
When L2CAP information was moved to struct l2cap_chan, a check was
added to l2cap_chan_del to avoid certain cleanup operations when ERTM
or streaming mode had not yet been initialized. The logic in the
check did not take in to account that chan->conf_state is set to 0 in
l2cap_chan_ready, so l2cap_chan_del failed to cancel timers and leaked
memory any time the ERTM queues or lists were not empty.

ERTM initialization was not performed.

is to perform mesh_path_lookup, if it is available for the target

moves back to its original MBSS, the mesh_paths will be deleted once
expired. So, it will be reachable using mpp_path_lookup again.

This new routine is responsible for service registration in a specified
network context.
The idea is to separate service creation from per-net operations.
Note also: since registering service with svc_bind() can fail, the
service will be destroyed and during destruction it will try to
unregister itself from rpcbind. In this case unregistration has to be
skipped.

The data in Kerberos gss tokens can be rotated. But we were lazy and
rejected any nonzero rotation value. It wasn't necessary for the
implementations we were testing against at the time.
But it appears that Windows does use a nonzero value here.
So, implement rotation to bring ourselves into compliance with the spec
and to interoperate with Windows.

Generic netlink searches for -type- formatted aliases when requesting a module to
fulfill a protocol request (i.e. net-pf-16-proto-16-type-<x>, where x is a type
value). However generic netlink protocols have no well defined type numbers,
they have string names. Modify genl_ctrl_getfamily to request an alias in the
format net-pf-16-proto-16-family-<x> instead, where x is a generic string, and
add a macro that builds on the previously added MODULE_ALIAS_NET_PF_PROTO_NAME
macro to allow modules to specifify those generic strings.
Note, l2tp previously hacked together an net-pf-16-proto-16-type-l2tp alias
using the MODULE_ALIAS macro, with these updates we can convert that to use the
PROTO_NAME macro.

We call the destroy function when a cgroup starts to be removed, such as
by a rmdir event.
However, because of our reference counters, some objects are still
inflight. Right now, we are decrementing the static_keys at destroy()
time, meaning that if we get rid of the last static_key reference, some
objects will still have charges, but the code to properly uncharge them
won't be run.
This becomes a problem specially if it is ever enabled again, because now
new charges will be added to the staled charges making keeping it pretty
much impossible.
We just need to be careful with the static branch activation: since there
is no particular preferred order of their activation, we need to make sure
that we only start using it after all call sites are active. This is
achieved by having a per-memcg flag that is only updated after
static_key_slow_inc() returns. At this time, we are sure all sites are
active.
This is made per-memcg, not global, for a reason: it also has the effect
of making socket accounting more consistent. The first memcg to be
limited will trigger static_key() activation, therefore, accounting. But
all the others will then be accounted no matter what. After this patch,
only limited memcgs will have its sockets accounted.
[akpm@linux-foundation.org: move enum sock_flag_bits into sock.h,
document enum sock_flag_bits,

RDS code assumes that the struct ib_device dma_device member, which is a
pointer, points to a struct device embedded in a struct pci_dev.
This is not the case for ehca, for example, which is a OF driver, and
makes dma_device point to a struct device embedded in a struct
platform_device.
This will make the system crash when rds_rdma is loaded in a system
with ehca, since it will try to access the bus member of a non-existent
struct pci_dev.
The only reason rds_rdma uses the struct pci_dev is to get the NUMA node
the device is attached to. Using dev_to_node for that is much better,
since it won't assume which bus the infiniband is attached to.

An application may call connect() to disconnect a socket using an
address with family AF_UNSPEC. The L2TP IP sockets were not handling
this case when the socket is not bound and an attempt to connect()
using AF_UNSPEC in such cases would result in an oops. This patch
addresses the problem by protecting the sk_prot->disconnect() call
against trying to unhash the socket before it is bound.
The L2TP IPv4 and IPv6 sockets have the same problem. Both are fixed
by this patch.
The patch also adds more checks that the sockaddr supplied to bind()
and connect() calls is valid.

the fragment of packets is incorrect.
because tunnel mode needs IPsec headers and trailer for all fragments,
while on transport mode it is sufficient to add the headers to the
first fragment and the trailer to the last.
so modify mtu and maxfraglen base on ipsec mode and if fragment is first
or last.

mac80211 tries to verify the existence of the current AP by
probing or sending a NULL frame in function
ieee80211_mgd_probe_ap_send. It 1st sends a null frame to the AP,
increments probe_send_count and waits for the ACK to the NULL
frame for a finite duration of time. At times, it happens that by
the time mac80211 gets to increment probe_send_count, the ACK for
the NULL frame transmitted has already been processed. This leads
to a race condition where mac80211 times out waiting for the ACK
for the NULL frame causing unnecessary disconnection with the AP.

(net: implement tcp coalescing in tcp_queue_rcv()) should take care of
possible segment overlaps in receive queue. This was properly done in
the case of out_or_order_queue by the caller.
For example, segment at tail of queue have sequence 1000-2000, and we
add a segment with sequence 1500-2500.
This can happen in case of retransmits.
In this case, just don't do the coalescing.

UDP stack needs a minimum hash size value for proper operation and also
uses alloc_large_system_hash() for proper NUMA distribution of its hash
tables and automatic sizing depending on available system memory.
On some low memory situations, udp_table_init() must ignore the
alloc_large_system_hash() result and reallocs a bigger memory area.
As we cannot easily free old hash table, we leak it and kmemleak can
issue a warning.
This patch adds a low limit parameter to alloc_large_system_hash() to
solve this problem.
We then specify UDP_HTABLE_SIZE_MIN for UDP/UDPLite hash table
allocation.

Pull user namespace enhancements from Eric Biederman:
"This is a course correction for the user namespace, so that we can
reach an inexpensive, maintainable, and reasonably complete
implementation.
Highlights:
- Config guards make it impossible to enable the user namespace and
code that has not been converted to be user namespace safe.
- Use of the new kuid_t type ensures the if you somehow get past the
config guards the kernel will encounter type errors if you enable
user namespaces and attempt to compile in code whose permission
checks have not been updated to be user namespace safe.
- All uids from child user namespaces are mapped into the initial
user namespace before they are processed. Removing the need to add
an additional check to see if the user namespace of the compared
uids remains the same.
- With the user namespaces compiled out the performance is as good or
better than it is today.
- For most operations absolutely nothing changes performance or
operationally with the user namespace enabled.
- The worst case performance I could come up with was timing 1
billion cache cold stat operations with the user namespace code
enabled. This went from 156s to 164s on my laptop (or 156ns to
164ns per stat operation).
- (uid_t)-1 and (gid_t)-1 are reserved as an internal error value.
Most uid/gid setting system calls treat these value specially
anyway so attempting to use -1 as a uid would likely cause
entertaining failures in userspace.
- If setuid is called with a uid that can not be mapped setuid fails.
I have looked at sendmail, login, ssh and every other program I
could think of that would call setuid and they all check for and
handle the case where setuid fails.
- If stat or a similar system call is called from a context in which
we can not map a uid we lie and return overflowuid. The LFS
experience suggests not lying and returning an error code might be
better, but the historical precedent with uids is different and I
can not think of anything that would break by lying about a uid we
can't map.
- Capabilities are localized to the current user namespace making it
safe to give the initial user in a user namespace all capabilities.
My git tree covers all of the modifications needed to convert the core
kernel and enough changes to make a system bootable to runlevel 1."

Pull networking changes from David Miller:
1) Get rid of the error prone NLA_PUT*() macros that used an embedded
goto.
2) Kill off the token-ring and MCA networking drivers, from Paul
Gortmaker.
3) Reduce high-order allocations made by datagram AF_UNIX sockets, from
Eric Dumazet.
4) Add PTP hardware clock support to IGB and IXGBE, from Richard
Cochran and Jacob Keller.
5) Allow users to query timestamping capabilities of a card via
ethtool, from Richard Cochran.
6) Add loadbalance mode to the teaming driver, from Jiri Pirko. Part
of this is that we can now have BPF filters not attached to sockets,
and the loadbalancing function is calculated using one.
7) Francois Romieu went through the network drivers removing gratuitous
uses of netdev->base_addr, perhaps some day we can remove it
completely but it's used for ISA probing still.
8) Add a BPF JIT for sparc. I know, who cares, right? :-)
9) Move networking sysctl registry away from using the compatability
mode interfaces in the sysctl code. From Eric W Biederman.
10) Pavel Emelyanov added a way to save and restore TCP socket state via
TCP_REPAIR, TCP_REPAIR_QUEUE, and TCP_QUEUE_SEQ socket options as
well as a way to forcefully bind a socket to a port via the
sk->sk_reuse value SK_FORCE_REUSE. There is also a
TCP_REPAIR_OPTIONS which allows to reinstante the TCP options
enabled on the connection.
11) Several enhancements from Eric Dumazet that, in particular, can
enhance splice performance on TCP sockets significantly.
a) Reset the offset of the per-socket sendmsg page when we know
we're the only use of the page in linear_to_page().
b) Add facilities such that skb->data can be backed a page rather
than SLAB kmalloc'd memory. In particular devices which were
receiving into linear RX buffers can now end up providing paged
data.
The big result is that code like splice and GRO do not have to copy
any more.
12) Allow a pure sender to more gracefully handle ACK backlogs in TCP.
What can happen at high rates is that the sender hasn't grown his
receive buffer limits at all (he's not receiving data so really
doesn't need to), but the non-data ACKs consume receive buffer
space.
sk_add_backlog() is too aggressive in dropping frames in this case,
so relax it's requirements by using the receive buffer plus the send
buffer limit as the backlog limit instead of just the former.
Also from Eric Dumazet.
13) Add ipv6 support to L2TP, from Benjamin LaHaise, James Chapman, and
Chris Elston.
14) Implement TCP early retransmit (RFC 5827), from Yuchung Cheng.
Basically, we can start fast retransmit before hiting the dupack
threshold under certain conditions.
15) New CODEL active queue management packet scheduler, from Eric
Dumazet based upon initial work by Dave Taht.
Basically, the big feature is that packets are dropped (or ECN bits
are set) based upon how long packets live in the queue, rather than
the queue length (which is what RED uses).

skb_try_coalesce() can be used in IPv4 defrag and IPv6 reassembly,
to build optimized skbs (less sk_buff, and possibly less 'headers')
skb_try_coalesce() is zero copy, unless the copy can fit in destination
header (its a rare case)
kfree_skb_partial() is also moved to net/core/skbuff.c and exported,
because IPv6 will need it in patch (ipv6: use skb coalescing in
reassembly).

xprt_alloc_slot will call rpc_delay() to make the task wait a bit before
retrying when it gets back an -ENOMEM error from xprt_dynamic_alloc_slot.
The problem is that rpc_delay will clear the task->tk_status, causing
call_reserveresult to abort the task.
The solution is simply to let call_reserveresult handle the ENOMEM error

If the allfrag feature has been set on a host route (due to an ICMPv6
Packet Too Big received indicating a MTU of less than 1280), we hit a
very slow behavior in TCP stack, because all big packets are dropped and
only a retransmit timer is able to push one MSS frame every 200 ms.
One way to handle this is to disable GSO on the socket the first time a
super packet is dropped. Adding a specific dst_allfrag() in the fast
path is probably overkill since the dst_allfrag() case almost never
happen.

If the allfrag feature has been set on a host route (due to an ICMPv6

TCP SYN/ACK packets to that destination appears to get an incorrect
TCP checksum. This in turn means they are thrown away as invalid.
In the case of an IPv4 client behind a link with a MTU of less than
1260, accessing an IPv6 server through a stateless translator,
this means that the client can only download a single large file
from the server, because once it is in the server's routing cache
with the allfrag feature set, new TCP connections can no longer
be established.

Prior to this patch, it was possible for a connect header to be
sent over the wire before the authorizer protocol or buffer length

Since recent changes on TCP splicing (starting with commits 2f533844
"tcp: allow splice() to build full TSO packets" and 35f9c09f "tcp:
tcp_sendpages() should call tcp_push() once"), I started seeing
massive stalls when forwarding traffic between two sockets using
splice() when pipe buffers were larger than socket buffers.
Latest changes (net: netdev_alloc_skb() use build_skb()) made the
problem even more apparent.
The reason seems to be that if do_tcp_sendpages() fails on out of memory
condition without being able to send at least one byte, tcp_push() is not
called and the buffers cannot be flushed.
After applying the attached patch, I cannot reproduce the stalls at all
and the data rate it perfectly stable and steady under any condition
which previously caused the problem to be permanent.
The issue seems to have been there since before the kernel migrated to

same issue.

The L2CAP MTU for incoming data is verified differently depending on
the L2CAP mode, so the check is best performed in a mode-specific
context. Checking the incoming MTU before HCI fragment reassembly is
a layer violation and assumes all bytes after the standard L2CAP
header are L2CAP data.
This approach causes issues with unsegmented ERTM or streaming mode
frames, where there are additional enhanced or extended headers before
the data payload and possible FCS bytes after the data payload. A
valid frame could be as many as 10 bytes larger than the MTU.
Removing this code is the best fix, because the MTU is checked later
on for all L2CAP data frames (connectionless, basic, ERTM, and
streaming). This also gets rid of outdated locking (socket instead of
l2cap_chan) and an extra lookup of the channel ID.

need to report the head size instead of the total size, so we just set
skb->len to skb_headlen().
This bug appeared when implementing MSG_MORE support for L2CAP sockets, it
never showed up before because l2cap_skbuff_fromiovec() never accounted skb
size correctly. A following patch will fix this.

If alloc() fails we let the frags linked list with garbage value (the
err ptr value) in its last element.

It's easily possible for these allocations to fail since we're using
GFP_NOWAIT here. We don't want to spam the logs with warnings about
that though.

Determining types of peers is modified to have less indentation. This change is
suggested by Johannes. This patch also corrects the reference in comment to

Johannes pointed out that the use of > operators for checking channel type
mismatch maynot be correct way as we may add other channel types in future.

specific headers to a skb. This allows low-level drivers to use the
(now correct) location of the network header.

Add a flag for the HT format (mixed vs. greenfield)
to allow drivers to report that on receive. Not all
drivers will do that though, so allow drivers to set
which radiotap MCS details they report.
