e31fb9e005 Merge branch 'for_linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jack/linux-fs
Pull ext3 removal, quota & udf fixes from Jan Kara:
 "The biggest change in the pull is the removal of ext3 filesystem
  driver (~28k lines removed). Ext4 driver is a full featured
  replacement these days and both RH and SUSE use it for several years
  without issues. Also there are some workarounds in VM & block layer
  mainly for ext3 which we could eventually get rid of.

  Other larger change is addition of proper error handling for
  dquot_initialize(). The rest is small fixes and cleanups"

[ I wasn't convinced about the ext3 removal and worried about things
  falling through the cracks for legacy users, but ext4 maintainers
  piped up and were all unanimously in favor of removal, and maintaining
  all legacy ext3 support inside ext4.   - Linus ]

* 'for_linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jack/linux-fs:
  udf: Don't modify filesystem for read-only mounts
  quota: remove an unneeded condition
  ext4: memory leak on error in ext4_symlink()
  mm/Kconfig: NEED_BOUNCE_POOL: clean-up condition
  ext4: Improve ext4 Kconfig test
  block: Remove forced page bouncing under IO
  fs: Remove ext3 filesystem driver
  doc: Update doc about journalling layer
  jfs: Handle error from dquot_initialize()
  reiserfs: Handle error from dquot_initialize()
  ocfs2: Handle error from dquot_initialize()
  ext4: Handle error from dquot_initialize()
  ext2: Handle error from dquot_initalize()
  quota: Propagate error from ->acquire_dquot()

d78757e780 [media] videobuf2-core: Add it to device-drivers DocBook
Most of the stuff at videobuf2-core are ok for adding it to
DocBook.

Two notes here:
1) As videobuf2-core will be soon be changed, better to
   not spend too much efforts right now, as things will
   change soon;

2) struct vb2_queue has a number of private elements that are
   documented. As Kernel nano documentation format handles
   "private:" arguments, we need to put them on a separate
   comment block or to remove. Keeping the comments is
   obviously better ;)

5699f871d2 scripts/kernel-doc: Adding cross-reference links to html documentation.
Functions, Structs and Parameters definitions on kernel documentation
are pure cosmetic, it only highlights the element.

To ease the navigation in the documentation we should use <links> inside
those tags so readers can easily jump between methods directly.

This was discussed in 2014[1] and is implemented by getting a list
of <refentries> from the DocBook XML to generate a database. Then it looks
for <function>,<structnames> and <paramdef> tags that matches the ones in
the database. As it only links existent references, no broken links are
added.

8548a63b37 iio: Move generic buffer implementations to sub-directory
For generic IIO trigger implementations we already have a sub-directory,
but the generic buffer implementations currently reside in the IIO
top-level directory. The main reason is that things have historically grown
into this form.

With more generic buffer implementations on its way now is the perfect time
to clean this up and introduce a sub-directory for generic buffer
implementations to avoid too much clutter in the top-level directory.

9ed71e7ad9 DocBook: Fix non-determinstic installation of duplicate man pages
Some kernel-doc sections are included in multiple DocBook files. This
means the mandocs target will generate the same manual page multiple
times with different metadata (author name/address and manual title,
taken from the including DocBook file). If it's invoked in a parallel
build, the output is non-determinstic.

Build the manual pages in a separate subdirectory per DocBook file,
then sort and de-duplicate when installing them (which is serialised).

d1675198ed drm/i915: Integrate GuC-based command submission
GuC-based submission is mostly the same as execlist mode, up to
intel_logical_ring_advance_and_submit(), where the context being
dispatched would be added to the execlist queue; at this point
we submit the context to the GuC backend instead.

There are, however, a few other changes also required, notably:
1. Contexts must be pinned at GGTT addresses accessible by the GuC
    i.e. NOT in the range [0..WOPCM_SIZE), so we have to add the
    PIN_OFFSET_BIAS flag to the relevant GGTT-pinning calls.

2. The GuC's TLB must be invalidated after a context is pinned at
    a new GGTT address.

3. GuC firmware uses the one page before Ring Context as shared data.
    Therefore, whenever driver wants to get base address of LRC, we
    will offset one page for it. LRC_PPHWSP_PN is defined as the page
    number of LRCA.

4. In the work queue used to pass requests to the GuC, the GuC
    firmware requires the ring-tail-offset to be represented as an
    11-bit value, expressed in QWords. Therefore, the ringbuffer
    size must be reduced to the representable range (4 pages).

v2:
    Defer adding #defines until needed [Chris Wilson]
    Rationalise type declarations [Chris Wilson]

v4:
    Squashed kerneldoc patch into here [Daniel Vetter]

v5:
    Update request->tail in code common to both GuC and execlist modes.
    Add a private version of lr_context_update(), as sharing the
        execlist version leads to race conditions when the CPU and
        the GuC both update TAIL in the context image.
    Conversion of error-captured HWS page to string must account
        for offset from start of object to actual HWS (LRC_PPHWSP_PN).

1c46ae0af6 Second set of new device support, features and cleanup for the 4.3 cycle.
Take 2 also includes a fix set that was too late for the 4.2 cycle.

 As we had a lot of tools and docs work in this set, I have broken those
 out into their own categories in this description.

 Fixes from the pull request '4th set of IIO fixes for the 4.2 cycle'.
 * Poll functions for both event chardev and the buffer one were returning
   negative error codes (via a positive value).
 * A recent change to lsiio adding some error handling that was wrong and
   stopped the tool working.
 * bmg160 was missing some dependencies in Kconfig
 * berlin2-adc had a misshandled register (wrote a value rather than a bitmap)

 New device support
 * TI opt3001 light sensor
 * TXC PA12 ALS and proximity sensor.
 * mcp3301 ADC support (in mcp320x driver)
 * ST lsm303agr accelerometer and magnetometer drivers (plus some st-sensors
   common support to allow different WHOAMI register addresses, devices with
   fixed scale and allow interrupt equiped magnetometers).
 * ADIS16305, ADIS16367, ADIS16445IMUs (in the adis16400 driver)
 * ADIS16266 gyro (in the adis16260 driver)
 * ADIS16137 gyro (in the adis16136 driver)

 New functionality
 * mmc35240 DT bindings.
 * Inverse unit conversion macros to aid handing of values written to sysfs
   attributes.

Jonathan writes:

Second set of new device support, features and cleanup for the 4.3 cycle.

* TI opt3001 light sensor
* TXC PA12 ALS and proximity sensor.
* mcp3301 ADC support (in mcp320x driver)
* ST lsm303agr accelerometer and magnetometer drivers (plus some st-sensors
  common support to allow different WHOAMI register addresses, devices with
  fixed scale and allow interrupt equiped magnetometers).
* ADIS16305, ADIS16367, ADIS16445IMUs (in the adis16400 driver)
* ADIS16266 gyro (in the adis16260 driver)
* ADIS16137 gyro (in the adis16136 driver)

New functionality
* mmc35240 DT bindings.
* Inverse unit conversion macros to aid handing of values written to sysfs
  attributes.

Core cleanup
* Forward declaration of struct iio_trigger to avoid a compile warning.

Driver cleanup / fixes
* mxs-lradc
  - Clarify which parts are supported.
  - Fix spelling erorrs.
  - Missing/extra includes

3271dca483 drm/i915: kerneldoc for tiling IOCTL and swizzle functions
Chris rightfully suggested that documenting fences without documenting
the BO tiling tracking doesn't make much sense, so fix that.

The important bit to stress here (since it lead to some confusion) is
the GEM doesn't really care about tiling. Except for a few select cases
where the kernel needs to manage something that userspace can't take
care of: Namely the limited number of fences and fixing up swizzling,
although we still fail at the later.

v2: Move the low-level tiling/swizzling functions and kerneldoc to
i915_gem_fence.c and leave only the userspace interface here.

b44158b170 DocBook: Avoid building man pages repeatedly and inconsistently
Some kernel-doc sections are included in multiple DocBook files. This
means the mandocs target will generate the same manual page multiple
times with different metadata (author name/address and manual title,
taken from the including DocBook file). If it's invoked in a parallel
build, the output is nondeterminstic.

For each section that is duplicated, mark the less specific manual's
inclusion as 'extra' and exclude it during conversion to manual pages.
Use xmlif for this, as that is bundled with xmlto which we already
use.

I would have preferred to use more conventional markup for this, but
each of the following approaches failed:

1. Wrap the extra inclusions with a new element and add a template to
   the stylesheet to include/exclude them. Unfortunately DocBook XSL
   doesn't seem to support foreign elements at an intermediate level
   in the document tree.
2. Use DocBook profiling. This works but requires passing an absolute
   path to the profile stylesheet to xmlto, so it's not portable.
3. Use SGML marked sections. docbook2x can handle these but xmlto
   chokes on them.

 "This is the main drm pull request for v4.2.

  I've one other new driver from freescale on my radar, it's been posted
  and reviewed, I'd just like to get someone to give it a last look, so
  maybe I'll send it or maybe I'll leave it.

  There is no major nouveau changes in here, Ben was working on
  something big, and we agreed it was a bit late, there wasn't anything
  else he considered urgent to merge.

  There might be another msm pull for some bits that are waiting on
  arm-soc, I'll see how we time it.

  This touches some "of" stuff, acks are in place except for the fixes
  to the build in various configs,t hat I just applied.

  Summary:

  New drivers:
      - virtio-gpu:
                KMS only pieces of driver for virtio-gpu in qemu.
                This is just the first part of this driver, enough to run
                unaccelerated userspace on. As qemu merges more we'll start
                adding the 3D features for the virgl 3d work.
      - amdgpu:
                a new driver from AMD to driver their newer GPUs. (VI+)
                It contains a new cleaner userspace API, and is a clean
                break from radeon moving forward, that AMD are going to
                concentrate on. It also contains a set of register headers
                auto generated from AMD internal database.

  core:
      - atomic modesetting API completed, enabled by default now.
      - Add support for mode_id blob to atomic ioctl to complete interface.
      - bunch of Displayport MST fixes
      - lots of misc fixes.

      - add a GPU reset counter for userspace
      - lots of fixes.

  amdkfd:
      - H/W debugger support module
      - static user-mode queues
      - support killing all the waves when a process terminates
      - use standard DECLARE_BITMAP

  i915:
      - Add Broxton support
      - S3, rotation support for Skylake
      - RPS booting tuning
      - CPT modeset sequence fixes
      - ns2501 dither support
      - enable cmd parser on haswell

      - Add iommu support
      - Consolidate drm driver initialization
      - and MIC, DECON and MIPI-DSI support for exynos5433

  omapdrm:

Merge tag 'media/v4.2-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mchehab/linux-media

Pull media updates from Mauro Carvalho Chehab:

 - Lots of improvements at the DVB API DocBook documentation. Now, the
   frontend and the network APIs are fully in sync with the Kernel and
   looks more like the rest of the media documentation;

 - New frontend driver: cx24120

 - New driver for a PCI device: cobalt. This driver is actually not
   sold in the market, but it is a good example of a multi-HDMI input
   device;

 - The dt3155 driver were promoted from staging;

 - The mantis driver got remote controller support;

 - New V4L2 driver for ST bdisp SoC chipsets;

 - Make sparse and smatch happier: several bugs were solved by fixing
   the issues reported by those static code analyzers.

 - Lots of new device additions, new features, improvements and cleanups
   at the existing drivers.

Luis R. Rodriguez
582ed8d51e Documentation: extend use case for EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL()
Current documentation over use case for EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL()
only acknowledges functions which are "an internal implementation
issue, and not really an interface". In practice these days
though we have some maintainers taking on preferences to require
all new functionality go in with EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL().

A maintainer asking developers to use EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL()
for new functionality tends to be a well accepted and understood
position that maintainers can take and typically requires the
maintainers educating contributing developers on their own
positions and requirements.

Developers who submit code to maintainers not familiar with
these preferences as optional for new functionality need explicit
guidence though as existing documentation does not acknowledge
this as a valid possibility. Without this being documented some
maintainers are reluctant to accept new functionality with
EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL().

This extends the use case documentation for EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL()
to acknowledge acceptance for new functionality.

531e63e163 Merge tag 'topic/drm-misc-2015-05-27' of git://anongit.freedesktop.org/drm-intel into drm-next
One more round of drm-misc, again mostly atomic. Big thing is the
userspace blob code from Daniel Stone, with support for the mode_id blob
now added to the atomic ioctl. Finally we can do atomic modesets!

Note that the atomic ioctl is still behind the module knob since the
weston patches aren't quite ready yet imo - they lack TEST_ONLY support,
which is a fairly crucial bit of the atomic api. But besides that I think
it's all good to go. That's also why we didn't bother to hide the new blob
ioctls behind the knob, that part won't need to change. And if weston
patches get in shape in time we could throw the "atomic by default patch"
on top for 4.2.

arch-dependent.

	ioctl FE_READ_STATUS — Returns status information about the front-end. This call only requires read-only access to the device
	ioctl FE_SET_PROPERTY, FE_GET_PROPERTY — FE_SET_PROPERTY sets one or more frontend properties. FE_GET_PROPERTY returns one or more frontend properties.
	ioctl FE_DISEQC_RESET_OVERLOAD — Restores the power to the antenna subsystem, if it was powered off due to power overload.
	ioctl FE_DISEQC_SEND_MASTER_CMD — Sends a DiSEqC command
	ioctl FE_DISEQC_RECV_SLAVE_REPLY — Receives reply from a DiSEqC 2.0 command
	ioctl FE_DISEQC_SEND_BURST — Sends a 22KHz tone burst for 2x1 mini DiSEqC satellite selection.
	ioctl FE_SET_TONE — Sets/resets the generation of the continuous 22kHz tone.
	ioctl FE_SET_VOLTAGE — Allow setting the DC level sent to the antenna subsystem.
	ioctl FE_ENABLE_HIGH_LNB_VOLTAGE — Select output DC level between normal LNBf voltages or higher LNBf voltages.

39b9ce2c6c [media] DocBook: Update DVB supported standards at introduction
The list of standards at the media docbook is incomplete, and it
is mentioning that the DVB-S2 & friends is "currently being updated".
That's wrong, as such update occurred back in 2008.

So, provide a more complete list of supported standards and add
a reference to the actual list.
