When initializing rates selections starting indexes upon stats update,
the minstrel_sta->max_* rates should be 'group * MCS_GROUP_RATES + i'
not 'i'. This affects settings where one of the peers does not support
any of the rates of the group 0 (i.e. when ht_cap.mcs.rx_mask[0] == 0).

Mesh beacon was not being rebuild after user triggered a mesh
powersave change.
To solve this issue use ieee80211_mbss_info_change_notify instead
of ieee80211_bss_info_change_notify. This helper function forces
mesh beacon to be rebuild and then notifies the driver about the
beacon change.

It assumes that sta->sdata->vif.bss_conf.bssid is present, which did not

Coverity pointed out that in a few functions we don't
check the return value of the nla_put_*() calls. Most
of these are fairly harmless because the input isn't
very dynamic and controlled by the kernel, but the
pattern is simply wrong, so fix this.

When changing cfg80211 to use RTNL locking, this caused a
deadlock in mac80211 as it calls cfg80211_sched_scan_stopped()
from a work item that's on a workqueue that is flushed with
the RTNL held.
Fix this by simply using schedule_work(), the work only needs
to finish running before the wiphy is unregistered, no other
synchronisation (e.g. with suspend) is really required since
for suspend userspace is already blocked anyway when we flush
the workqueue so will only pick up the event after resume.

The aformentioned commit added a check to allow
'iw wlan0 set power_save off' to work for mesh interfaces.
However, this is problematic because it also allows
'iw wlan0 set power_save on', which will crash in short order
because all of the subsequent code manipulates sdata->u.mgd.
The power-saving states for mesh interfaces can be manipulated
through the mesh config, e.g:
'iw wlan0 set mesh_param mesh_power_save=active' (which,
despite the name, actualy disables power saving since the
setting refers to the type of sleep the interface undergoes).

If a too small burst is inadvertently set on TBF, we might trigger
a bug in tbf_segment(), as 'skb' instead of 'segs' was used in a
qdisc_reshape_fail() call.

Fix the bug, and add a warning, as such configuration is not
going to work anyway for non GSO packets.
(For some reason, one has to use a burst >= 1520 to get a working

Commit bceaa90240 ("inet: prevent leakage
of uninitialized memory to user in recv syscalls") conditionally updated
addr_len if the msg_name is written to. The recv_error and rxpmtu
functions relied on the recvmsg functions to set up addr_len before.
As this does not happen any more we have to pass addr_len to those
functions as well and set it to the size of the corresponding sockaddr
length.
This broke traceroute and such.

This patch simplifies the checksum verification in tcpX_gro_receive
by reusing the CHECKSUM_COMPLETE code for CHECKSUM_NONE. All it
does for CHECKSUM_NONE is compute the partial checksum and then
treat it as if it came from the hardware (CHECKSUM_COMPLETE).

In some cases we may receive IP packets that are longer than
their stated lengths. Such packets are never merged in GRO.
However, we may end up computing their checksums incorrectly
and end up allowing packets with a bogus checksum enter our
stack with the checksum status set as verified.
Since such packets are rare and not performance-critical, this
patch simply skips the checksum verification for them.

Function sctp_check_transmitted(transport t, ...) would iterate all of
transport->transmitted queue and looking for the highest __newly__ acked tsn.
The original algorithm would depend on the order of the assoc->transport_list
(in function sctp_outq_sack line 1215 - 1226). The result might not be the
expected due to the order of the tranport_list.
Solution: checking if the exising is smaller than the new one before assigning

Recently GRO started generating packets with frag_lists of frags.
This was not handled by GSO, thus leading to a crash.
Thankfully these packets are of a regular form and are easy to
handle. This patch handles them in two ways. For completely
non-linear frag_list entries, we simply continue to iterate over
the frag_list frags once we exhaust the normal frags. For frag_list
entries with linear parts, we call pskb_trim on the first part
of the frag_list skb, and then process the rest of the frags in
the usual way.
This patch also kills a chunk of dead frag_list code that has
obviously never ever been run since it ends up generating a bogus
GSO-segmented packet with a frag_list entry.
Future work is planned to split super big packets into TSO
ones.

Unfortunately, I introduced a tremendously stupid bug into
genlmsg_multicast() when doing all those multicast group
changes: it adjusts the group number, but then passes it
to genlmsg_multicast_netns() which does that again.
Somehow, my tests failed to catch this, so add a warning
into genlmsg_multicast_netns() and remove the offending
group ID adjustment.
Also add a warning to the similar code in other functions
so people who misuse them are more loudly warned.

Salam reported a use after free bug in PF_PACKET that occurs when
we're sending out frames on a socket bound device and suddenly the
net device is being unregistered. It appears that commit 827d9780
introduced a possible race condition between {t,}packet_snd() and
packet_notifier(). In the case of a bound socket, packet_notifier()
can drop the last reference to the net_device and {t,}packet_snd()
might end up suddenly sending a packet over a freed net_device.
To avoid reverting 827d9780 and thus introducing a performance
regression compared to the current state of things, we decided to
hold a cached RCU protected pointer to the net device and maintain
it on write side via bind spin_lock protected register_prot_hook()
and __unregister_prot_hook() calls.
In {t,}packet_snd() path, we access this pointer under rcu_read_lock
through packet_cached_dev_get() that holds reference to the device
to prevent it from being freed through packet_notifier() while
we're in send path. This is okay to do as dev_put()/dev_hold() are
per-cpu counters, so this should not be a performance issue. Also,
the code simplifies a bit as we don't need need_rls_dev anymore.

This patch now always passes msg->msg_namelen as 0. recvmsg handlers must
set msg_namelen to the proper size <= sizeof(struct sockaddr_storage)
to return msg_name to the user.
This prevents numerous uninitialized memory leaks we had in the
recvmsg handlers and makes it harder for new code to accidentally leak
uninitialized memory.
Optimize for the case recvfrom is called with NULL as address. We don't
need to copy the address at all, so set it to NULL before invoking the
recvmsg handler. We can do so, because all the recvmsg handlers must
cope with the case a plain read() is called on them. read() also sets
msg_name to NULL.
Also document these changes in include/linux/net.h as suggested by David
Miller.
Changes since RFC:
Set msg->msg_name = NULL if user specified a NULL in msg_name but had a
non-null msg_namelen in verify_iovec/verify_compat_iovec. This doesn't
affect sendto as it would bail out earlier while trying to copy-in the
address. It also more naturally reflects the logic by the callers of
verify_iovec.
With this change in place I could remove "
if (!uaddr || msg_sys->msg_namelen == 0)
msg->msg_name = NULL
".
This change does not alter the user visible error logic as we ignore
msg_namelen as long as msg_name is NULL.
Also remove two unnecessary curly brackets in ___sys_recvmsg and change
comments to netdev style.

The reason is that when the bridge dev's address is changed, the
br_fdb_change_mac_address() will add new address in fdb, but when
the bridge was removed, the address entry in the fdb did not free,
the bridge_fdb_cache still has objects when destroy the cache, Fix
this by flushing the bridge address entry when removing the bridge.
v2: according to the Toshiaki Makita and Vlad's suggestion, I only
delete the vlan0 entry, it still have a leak here if the vlan id
is other number, so I need to call fdb_delete_by_port(br, NULL, 1)
to flush all entries whose dst is NULL for the bridge.

net: only invoke dev->change_rx_flags when device is UP
tried to fix a problem with VLAN devices and promiscuouse flag setting.
The issue was that VLAN device was setting a flag on an interface that
was down, thus resulting in bad promiscuity count.
This commit blocked flag propagation to any device that is currently
down.
A later commit:

vlan: Don't propagate flag changes on down interfaces
fixed VLAN code to only propagate flags when the VLAN interface is up,
thus fixing the same issue as above, only localized to VLAN.
The problem we have now is that if we have create a complex stack
involving multiple software devices like bridges, bonds, and vlans,
then it is possible that the flags would not propagate properly to
the physical devices. A simple examle of the scenario is the
following:
eth0----> bond0 ----> bridge0 ---> vlan50
If bond0 or eth0 happen to be down at the time bond0 is added to
the bridge, then eth0 will never have promisc mode set which is
currently required for operation as part of the bridge. As a
result, packets with vlan50 will be dropped by the interface.
The only 2 devices that implement the special flag handling are
VLAN and DSA and they both have required code to prevent incorrect
flag propagation. As a result we can remove the generic solution
introduced in b6c40d68ff and leave
it to the individual devices to decide whether they will block
flag propagation or not.

CPUs can ask for local route via ip_route_input_noref() concurrently.
if nh_rth_input is not cached yet, CPUs will proceed to allocate
equivalent DSTs on 'lo' and then will try to cache them in nh_rth_input
via rt_cache_route()
Most of the time they succeed, but on occasion the following two lines:
orig = *p;
prev = cmpxchg(p, orig, rt);
in rt_cache_route() do race and one of the cpus fails to complete cmpxchg.
But ip_route_input_slow() doesn't check the return code of rt_cache_route(),
so dst is leaking. dst_destroy() is never called and 'lo' device
refcnt doesn't go to zero, which can be seen in the logs as:
unregister_netdevice: waiting for lo to become free. Usage count = 1
Adding mdelay() between above two lines makes it easily reproducible.
Fix it similar to nh_pcpu_rth_output case.

1) Johannes Berg noticed two major deficiencies in our genetlink
registration. Some genetlink protocols we passing in constant
counts for their ops array rather than something like
ARRAY_SIZE(ops) or similar. Also, some genetlink protocols were
using fixed IDs for their multicast groups.
We have to retain these fixed IDs to keep existing userland tools
working, but reserve them so that other multicast groups used by
other protocols can not possibly conflict.
In dealing with these two problems, we actually now use less state
management for genetlink operations and multicast groups.
2) When configuring interface hardware timestamping, fix several
drivers that simply do not validate that the hwtstamp_config value
is one the driver actually supports. From Ben Hutchings.

4) In dev_forward_skb(), set the skb->protocol in the right order

Register generic netlink multicast groups as an array with
the family and give them contiguous group IDs. Then instead
of passing the global group ID to the various functions that
send messages, pass the ID relative to the family - for most
families that's just 0 because the only have one group.
This avoids the list_head and ID in each group, adding a new
field for the mcast group ID offset to the family.
At the same time, this allows us to prevent abusing groups
again like the quota and dropmon code did, since we can now
check that a family only uses a group it owns.

The quota code is abusing the genetlink API and is using
its family ID as the multicast group ID, which is invalid
and may belong to somebody else (and likely will.)
Make the quota code use the correct API, but since this
is already used as-is by userspace, reserve a family ID
for this code and also reserve that group ID to not break
userspace assumptions.

The drop monitor code is abusing the genetlink API and is
statically using the generic netlink multicast group 1, even
if that group belongs to somebody else (which it invariably
will, since it's not reserved.)
Make the drop monitor code use the proper APIs to reserve a
group ID, but also reserve the group id 1 in generic netlink
code to preserve the userspace API. Since drop monitor can
be a module, don't clear the bit for it on unregistration.

As suggested by David Miller, make genl_register_family_with_ops()
a macro and pass only the array, evaluating ARRAY_SIZE() in the
macro, this is a little safer.
The openvswitch has some indirection, assing ops/n_ops directly in
that code. This might ultimately just assign the pointers in the
family initializations, saving the struct genl_family_and_ops and
code (once mcast groups are handled differently.)

snd_nxt must be updated synchronously with sk_send_head. Otherwise
tp->packets_out may be updated incorrectly, what may bring a kernel panic.

Before this panic a tcp socket was restored. This socket had sent and
unsent data in the write queue. Sent data was restored in repair mode,
then the socket was switched from reapair mode and unsent data was
restored. After that the socket was switched back into repair mode.
In that moment we had a socket where write queue looks like this:

I think update of snd_nxt isn't required, when a socket is switched from
repair mode. Because it's initialized in tcp_connect_init. Then when a
write queue is restored, snd_nxt is incremented in tcp_event_new_data_sent,
so it's always is in consistent state.
I have checked, that the bug is not reproduced with this patch and
all tests about restoring tcp connections work fine.

SIOCSHWTSTAMP returns the real configuration to the application
using it, but there is currently no way for any other
application to find out the configuration non-destructively.

We don't need to check that ifr_data itself is a valid user pointer,
but we should check &ifr_data is. Thankfully the copy of ifr_name is
checked, so this can only leak a few bytes from immediately above the
user address limit.

Only update *addr_len when we actually fill in sockaddr, otherwise we
can return uninitialized memory from the stack to the caller in the
recvfrom, recvmmsg and recvmsg syscalls. Drop the the (addr_len == NULL)
checks because we only get called with a valid addr_len pointer either
from sock_common_recvmsg or inet_recvmsg.
If a blocking read waits on a socket which is concurrently shut down we
now return zero and set msg_msgnamelen to 0.

In commit 41d73ec053, sequence number adjustments were moved to a
separate file. Unfortunately, the sequence numbers that are stored
in the nf_ct_seqadj structure are expressed in host byte order. The
necessary ntohl call was removed when the call to adjust_tcp_sequence
was collapsed into nf_ct_seqadj_set. This broke the FTP NAT helper.
Fix it by adding back the byte order conversions.

Timestamp are used to store additional syncookie parameters such as sack,
ecn, and wscale. The wscale value we need to encode is the client's
wscale, since we can't recover that later in the session. Next overwrite
the wscale option so the later synproxy_send_client_synack will send
the backend's wscale to the client.

When the synproxy_parse_options is called on the client ack the mss
option will not be present. Consequently mss wont be included in the
backend syn packet, which falls back to 536 bytes mss.
Therefore XT_SYNPROXY_OPT_MSS is explicitly flagged when recovering mss
value from cookie.

For performance reasons, sch_fq tried hard to not setup timers for every
sent packet, using a quantum based heuristic : A delay is setup only if
the flow exhausted its credit.
Problem is that application limited flows can refill their credit
for every queued packet, and they can evade pacing.
This problem can also be triggered when TCP flows use small MSS values,
as TSO auto sizing builds packets that are smaller than the default fq
quantum (3028 bytes)
This patch adds a 40 ms delay to guard flow credit refill.

A macvlan device has always LRO disabled so that calling
dev_disable_lro() on it does nothing. If we need to disable LRO
e.g. because
- the macvlan device is inserted into a bridge
- IPv6 forwarding is enabled for it
- it is in a different namespace than lowerdev and IPv4
forwarding is enabled in it
we need to disable LRO on its underlying device instead (as we
do for 802.1q VLAN devices).

If priority/traffic class field in IPv6 header is set (seen when
using ssh), the uncompression sets the TC and Flow fields incorrectly.

ip4_datagram_connect() being called from process context,

Initial sch_fq implementation copied code from pfifo_fast to classify
a packet as a high prio packet.
This clashes with setups using PRIO with say 7 bands, as one of the
band could be incorrectly (mis)classified by FQ.
Packets would be queued in the 'internal' queue, and no pacing ever
happen for this special queue.

Allow making the ops array const by not modifying the ops

out in the family information.

Instead of using a linked list, use an array. This reduces
the data size needed by the users of genetlink, for example
in wireless (net/wireless/nl80211.c) on 64-bit it frees up
over 1K of data space.
Remove the attempted sending of CTRL_CMD_NEWOPS ctrl event
since genl_ctrl_event(CTRL_CMD_NEWOPS, ...) only returns
-EINVAL anyway, therefore no such event could ever be sent.

Unfortunately it means more extern function declarations are
needed, but the overall goal would seem to justify this.
Due to the removal of duplication in the netlink policies,
this reduces the size of wimax by almost 1k.

Bug has been introduced by commit bb8140947a ("ip6tnl: allow to use rtnl ops
on fb tunnel").
When ip6_tunnel.ko is unloaded, FB device is delete by rtnl_link_unregister()
and then we try to use the pointer in ip6_tnl_destroy_tunnels().
Let's add an handler for dellink, which will never remove the FB tunnel. With
this patch it will no more be possible to remove it via 'ip link del ip6tnl0',
but it's safer.
The same fix was already proposed by Willem de Bruijn <willemb@google.com> for
sit interfaces.

When a link local address was added to a sit interface, the corresponding route
was not configured. This breaks routing protocols that use the link local
address, like OSPFv3.
To ease the code reading, I remove sit_route_add(), which only adds v4 mapped
routes, and add this kind of route directly in sit_add_v4_addrs(). Thus link
local and v4 mapped routes are configured in the same place.

When the local IPv4 endpoint is wilcard (0.0.0.0), the prefix length is
correctly set, ie 64 if the address is a link local one or 96 if the address is
a v4 mapped one.
But when the local endpoint is specified, the prefix length is set to 128 for
both kind of address. This patch fix this wrong prefix length.

Bug: The fallback device is created in sit_init_net and assumed to be
freed in sit_exit_net. First, it is dereferenced in that function, in
sit_destroy_tunnels:

Prior to this, rtnl_unlink_register has removed all devices that match
rtnl_link_ops == sit_link_ops.
Commit 205983c437 added the line
+ sitn->fb_tunnel_dev->rtnl_link_ops = &sit_link_ops;
which cases the fallback device to match here and be freed before it
is last dereferenced.
Fix: This commit adds an explicit .delllink callback to sit_link_ops
that skips deallocation at rtnl_unlink_register for the fallback
device. This mechanism is comparable to the one in ip_tunnel.
It also modifies sit_destroy_tunnels and its only caller sit_exit_net
to avoid the offending dereference in the first place. That double
lookup is more complicated than required.
Test: The bug is only triggered when CONFIG_NET_NS is enabled. It
causes a GPF only when CONFIG_DEBUG_SLAB is enabled. Verified that
this bug exists at the mentioned commit, at davem-net HEAD and at
3.11.y HEAD. Verified that it went away after applying this patch.

When a transport recovers due to the new coming sack, SCTP should
iterate all of its transport_list to locate the __two__ most recently used
transport and set to active_path and retran_path respectively. The exising
code does not find the two properly - In case of the following list:
[most-recent] -> [2nd-most-recent] -> ...
Both active_path and retran_path would be set to the 1st element.
The bug happens when:
1) multi-homing
2) failure/partial_failure transport recovers
Both active_path and retran_path would be set to the same most-recent one, in
other words, retran_path would not take its role - an end user might not even
notice this issue.

After commit c9eeec26e3 ("tcp: TSQ can use a dynamic limit"), several
users reported throughput regressions, notably on mvneta and wifi
adapters.
802.11 AMPDU requires a fair amount of queueing to be effective.
This patch partially reverts the change done in tcp_write_xmit()
so that the minimal amount is sysctl_tcp_limit_output_bytes.
It also remove the use of this sysctl while building skb stored
in write queue, as TSO autosizing does the right thing anyway.
Users with well behaving NICS and correct qdisc (like sch_fq),
can then lower the default sysctl_tcp_limit_output_bytes value from
128KB to 8KB.
This new usage of sysctl_tcp_limit_output_bytes permits each driver
authors to check how their driver performs when/if the value is set
to a minimum of 4KB.
Normally, line rate for a single TCP flow should be possible,
but some drivers rely on timers to perform TX completion and
too long TX completion delays prevent reaching full throughput.

We should use wrapper functions vlan_vid_[add/del] instead of
ndo_vlan_rx_[add/kill]_vid. Otherwise, we might be not able to communicate
using vlan interface in a certain situation.
Example of problematic case:

bridge vlan del dev eth0 vid 10

In this case, we cannot communicate via eth0.10 because vlan 10 is
filtered by NIC that has the vlan filtering feature.

Pull networking updates from David Miller:
1) The addition of nftables. No longer will we need protocol aware
firewall filtering modules, it can all live in userspace.
At the core of nftables is a, for lack of a better term, virtual
machine that executes byte codes to inspect packet or metadata
(arriving interface index, etc.) and make verdict decisions.
Besides support for loading packet contents and comparing them, the
interpreter supports lookups in various datastructures as
fundamental operations. For example sets are supports, and
therefore one could create a set of whitelist IP address entries
which have ACCEPT verdicts attached to them, and use the appropriate
byte codes to do such lookups.
Since the interpreted code is composed in userspace, userspace can
do things like optimize things before giving it to the kernel.
Another major improvement is the capability of atomically updating
portions of the ruleset. In the existing netfilter implementation,
one has to update the entire rule set in order to make a change and
this is very expensive.
Userspace tools exist to create nftables rules using existing
netfilter rule sets, but both kernel implementations will need to
co-exist for quite some time as we transition from the old to the
new stuff.
Kudos to Patrick McHardy, Pablo Neira Ayuso, and others who have
worked so hard on this.
2) Daniel Borkmann and Hannes Frederic Sowa made several improvements
to our pseudo-random number generator, mostly used for things like
UDP port randomization and netfitler, amongst other things.
In particular the taus88 generater is updated to taus113, and test
cases are added.
3) Support 64-bit rates in HTB and TBF schedulers, from Eric Dumazet
and Yang Yingliang.
4) Add support for new 577xx tigon3 chips to tg3 driver, from Nithin
Sujir.
5) Fix two fatal flaws in TCP dynamic right sizing, from Eric Dumazet,
Neal Cardwell, and Yuchung Cheng.
6) Allow IP_TOS and IP_TTL to be specified in sendmsg() ancillary
control message data, much like other socket option attributes.

operation is "net_get_random_once()" which uses static keys.

our generic flow dissector.
14) The generic driver layer takes care now to set the driver data to
NULL on device removal, so it's no longer necessary for drivers to
explicitly set it to NULL any more. Many drivers have been cleaned
up in this way, from Jingoo Han.
15) Add a BPF based packet scheduler classifier, from Daniel Borkmann.
16) Improve CRC32 interfaces and generic SKB checksum iterators so that
SCTP's checksumming can more cleanly be handled. Also from Daniel

17) Add a new PMTU discovery mode, IP_PMTUDISC_INTERFACE, which forces
using the interface MTU value. This helps avoid PMTU attacks,

In cases where an rpc client has a parent hierarchy, then
rpc_free_client may end up calling rpc_release_client() on the
parent, thus recursing back into rpc_free_client. If the hierarchy
is deep enough, then we can get into situations where the stack
simply overflows.
The fix is to have rpc_release_client() loop so that it can take
care of the parent rpc client hierarchy without needing to
recurse.

Pushing original fragments through causes several problems. For example
for matching, frags may not be matched correctly. Take following
example:

not occur with smaller packets than MTU (where fragmentation does not happen)

As was discussed previously, the only correct solution seems to be to use
reassembled skb instead of separete frags. Doing this has positive side
effects in reducing sk_buff by one pointer (nfct_reasm) and also the reams
dances in ipvs and conntrack can be removed.
Future plan is to remove net/ipv6/netfilter/nf_conntrack_reasm.c
entirely and use code in net/ipv6/reassembly.c instead.

If reassembled packet would fit into outdev MTU, it is not fragmented
according the original frag size and it is send as single big packet.
The second case is if skb is gso. In that case fragmentation does not happen
according to the original frag size.
This patch fixes these.

The following scenario can cause silent data corruption when doing
NFS writes. It has mainly been observed when doing database writes
using O_DIRECT.
1) The RPC client uses sendpage() to do zero-copy of the page data.
2) Due to networking issues, the reply from the server is delayed,
and so the RPC client times out.
3) The client issues a second sendpage of the page data as part of
an RPC call retransmission.
4) The reply to the first transmission arrives from the server
_before_ the client hardware has emptied the TCP socket send
buffer.
5) After processing the reply, the RPC state machine rules that
the call to be done, and triggers the completion callbacks.
6) The application notices the RPC call is done, and reuses the
pages to store something else (e.g. a new write).
7) The client NIC drains the TCP socket send buffer. Since the
page data has now changed, it reads a corrupted version of the
initial RPC call, and puts it on the wire.
This patch fixes the problem in the following manner:
The ordering guarantees of TCP ensure that when the server sends a
reply, then we know that the _first_ transmission has completed. Using
zero-copy in that situation is therefore safe.
If a time out occurs, we then send the retransmission using sendmsg()
(i.e. no zero-copy), We then know that the socket contains a full copy of
the data, and so it will retransmit a faithful reproduction even if the
RPC call completes, and the application reuses the O_DIRECT buffer in
the meantime.

As the rfc 4191 said, the Router Preference and Lifetime values in a
::/0 Route Information Option should override the preference and lifetime
values in the Router Advertisement header. But when the kernel deals with
a ::/0 Route Information Option, the rt6_get_route_info() always return
NULL, that means that overriding will not happen, because those default
routers were added without flag RTF_ROUTEINFO in rt6_add_dflt_router().
In order to deal with that condition, we should call rt6_get_dflt_router
when the prefix length is 0.

When trying to delete a table >= 256 using iproute2 the local table
will be deleted.
The table id is specified as a netlink attribute when it needs more then
8 bits and iproute2 then sets the table field to RT_TABLE_UNSPEC (0).
Preconditions to matching the table id in the rule delete code
doesn't seem to take the "table id in netlink attribute" into condition
so the frh_get_table helper function never gets to do its job when
matching against current rule.
Use the helper function twice instead of peaking at the table value directly.

If the last RFC 6437 does not give any constraints
for lifetime of flow labels, the previous RFC 3697
spoke of a minimum of 120 seconds between
reattribution of a flow label.
The maximum linger is currently set to 60 seconds
and does not allow this configuration without
CAP_NET_ADMIN right.
This patch increase the maximum linger to 150
seconds, allowing more flexibility to standard
users.

It is already possible to set/put/renew a label
with IPV6_FLOWLABEL_MGR and setsockopt. This patch
add the possibility to get information about this
label (current value, time before expiration, etc).
It helps application to take decision for a renew
or a release of the label.

While testing virtio_net and skb_segment() changes, Hannes reported
that UFO was sending wrong frames.
It appears this was introduced by a recent commit :

Add a operations structure that allows a network interface to export
the fact that it supports package forwarding in hardware between
physical interfaces and other mac layer devices assigned to it (such
as macvlans). This operaions structure can be used by virtual mac
devices to bypass software switching so that forwarding can be done
in hardware more efficiently.

Provide a method for read-only access to the vlan device egress mapping.
Do this by refactoring vlan_dev_get_egress_qos_mask() such that now it
receives as an argument the skb priority instead of pointer to the skb.
Such an access is needed for the IBoE stack where the control plane
goes through the network stack. This is an add-on step on top of commit
d4a968658c "net/route: export symbol ip_tos2prio" which allowed the RDMA-CM
to use ip_tos2prio.

If appending a received fragment to the pending fragment chain
in a unicast link fails, the current code tries to force a retransmission
of the fragment by decrementing the 'next received sequence number'
field in the link. This is done under the assumption that the failure
is caused by an out-of-memory situation, an assumption that does
not hold true after the previous patch in this series.
A failure to append a fragment can now only be caused by a protocol
violation by the sending peer, and it must hence be assumed that it
is either malicious or buggy. Either way, the correct behavior is now
to reset the link instead of trying to revert its sequence number.
So, this is what we do in this commit.

When the first fragment of a long data data message is received on a link, a
reassembly buffer large enough to hold the data from this and all subsequent
fragments of the message is allocated. The payload of each new fragment is
copied into this buffer upon arrival. When the last fragment is received, the
reassembled message is delivered upwards to the port/socket layer.
Not only is this an inefficient approach, but it may also cause bursts of
reassembly failures in low memory situations. since we may fail to allocate
the necessary large buffer in the first place. Furthermore, after 100 subsequent
such failures the link will be reset, something that in reality aggravates the
situation.
To remedy this problem, this patch introduces a different approach. Instead of
allocating a big reassembly buffer, we now append the arriving fragments
to a reassembly chain on the link, and deliver the whole chain up to the
socket layer once the last fragment has been received. This is safe because
the retransmission layer of a TIPC link always delivers packets in strict
uninterrupted order, to the reassembly layer as to all other upper layers.
Hence there can never be more than one fragment chain pending reassembly at
any given time in a link, and we can trust (but still verify) that the
fragments will be chained up in the correct order.

When a message fragment is received in a broadcast or unicast link,
the reception code will append the fragment payload to a big reassembly
buffer through a call to the function tipc_recv_fragm(). However, after
the return of that call, the logics goes on and passes the fragment
buffer to the function tipc_net_route_msg(), which will simply drop it.
This behavior is a remnant from the now obsolete multi-cluster
functionality, and has no relevance in the current code base.
Although currently harmless, this unnecessary call would be fatal
after applying the next patch in this series, which introduces
a completely new reassembly algorithm. So we change the code to
eliminate the redundant call.

In order to enable lockdep on seqcount/seqlock structures, we
must explicitly initialize any locks.
The u64_stats_sync structure, uses a seqcount, and thus we need
to introduce a u64_stats_init() function and use it to initialize
the structure.
This unfortunately adds a lot of fairly trivial initialization code
to a number of drivers. But the benefit of ensuring correctness makes
this worth while.
Because these changes are required for lockdep to be enabled, and the
changes are quite trivial, I've not yet split this patch out into 30-some
separate patches, as I figured it would be better to get the various
maintainers thoughts on how to best merge this change along with
the seqcount lockdep enablement.

Now rt6_alloc_cow() is only called by ip6_pol_route() when
rt->rt6i_flags doesn't contain both RTF_NONEXTHOP and RTF_GATEWAY,
and rt->rt6i_flags hasn't been changed in ip6_rt_copy().
So there is no neccessary to judge whether rt->rt6i_flags contains
RTF_GATEWAY or not.

Commit 1e2bd517c1 ("udp6: Fix udp
fragmentation for tunnel traffic.") changed the calculation if
there is enough space to include a fragment header in the skb from a
skb->mac_header dervived one to skb_headroom. Because we already peeled
off the skb to transport_header this is wrong. Change this back to check
if we have enough room before the mac_header.
This fixes a panic Saran Neti reported. He used the tbf scheduler which
skb_gso_segments the skb. The offsets get negative and we panic in memcpy
because the skb was erroneously not expanded at the head.

Sockets marked with IP_PMTUDISC_INTERFACE won't do path mtu discovery,
their sockets won't accept and install new path mtu information and they
will always use the interface mtu for outgoing packets. It is guaranteed
that the packet is not fragmented locally. But we won't set the DF-Flag
on the outgoing frames.
Florian Weimer had the idea to use this flag to ensure DNS servers are
never generating outgoing fragments. They may well be fragmented on the
path, but the server never stores or usees path mtu values, which could
well be forged in an attack.
(The root of the problem with path MTU discovery is that there is
no reliable way to authenticate ICMP Fragmentation Needed But DF Set
messages because they are sent from intermediate routers with their
source addresses, and the IMCP payload will not always contain sufficient
information to identify a flow.)
Recent research in the DNS community showed that it is possible to
implement an attack where DNS cache poisoning is feasible by spoofing
fragments. This work was done by Amir Herzberg and Haya Shulman:

This issue was previously discussed among the DNS community, e.g.
<http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/dnsext/current/msg01204.html>,
without leading to fixes.
This patch depends on the patch "ipv4: fix DO and PROBE pmtu mode
regarding local fragmentation with UFO/CORK" for the enforcement of the
non-fragmentable checks. If other users than ip_append_page/data should
use this semantic too, we have to add a new flag to IPCB(skb)->flags to
suppress local fragmentation and check for this in ip_finish_output.

The code of flow label in Linux Kernel follows
the rules of RFC 1809 (an informational one) for
conditions on flow label sharing. There rules are
not in the last proposed standard for flow label
(RFC 6437), or in the previous one (RFC 3697).
Since this code does not follow any current or
old standard, we can remove it.
With this removal, the ipv6_opt_cmp function is
now a dead code and it can be removed too.

Sometimes we need to coalesce the rx frags to avoid frag list. One example is
virtio-net driver which tries to use small frags for both MTU sized packet and
GSO packet. So this patch introduce skb_coalesce_rx_frag() to do this.

Slow start now increases cwnd by 1 if an ACK acknowledges some packets,
regardless the number of packets. Consequently slow start performance
is highly dependent on the degree of the stretch ACKs caused by
receiver or network ACK compression mechanisms (e.g., delayed-ACK,
GRO, etc). But slow start algorithm is to send twice the amount of
packets of packets left so it should process a stretch ACK of degree
N as if N ACKs of degree 1, then exits when cwnd exceeds ssthresh. A
follow up patch will use the remainder of the N (if greater than 1)
to adjust cwnd in the congestion avoidance phase.
In addition this patch retires the experimental limited slow start
(LSS) feature. LSS has multiple drawbacks but questionable benefit. The
fractional cwnd increase in LSS requires a loop in slow start even
though it's rarely used. Configuring such an increase step via a global
sysctl on different BDPS seems hard. Finally and most importantly the
slow start overshoot concern is now better covered by the Hybrid slow
start (hystart) enabled by default.

Applications have started to use Fast Open (e.g., Chrome browser has
such an optional flag) and the feature has gone through several
generations of kernels since 3.7 with many real network tests. It's
time to enable this flag by default for applications to test more
conveniently and extensively.

This patch fixes a build warning in skb_checksum() by wrapping the
csum_partial() usage in skb_checksum(). The problem is that on a few
architectures, csum_partial is used with prefix asmlinkage whereas
on most architectures it's not. So fix this up generically as we did
with csum_block_add_ext() to match the signature. Introduced by
2817a336d4 ("net: skb_checksum: allow custom update/combine for
walking skb").

Introduced in f9e42b8535 ("net: sctp: sideeffect: throw BUG if
primary_path is NULL"), we intended to find a buggy assoc that's
part of the assoc hash table with a primary_path that is NULL.
However, we better remove the BUG_ON for now and find a more
suitable place to assert for these things as Mark reports that
this also triggers the bug when duplication cookie processing
happens, and the assoc is not part of the hash table (so all
good in this case). Such a situation can for example easily be
reproduced by:

should still better remove this BUG_ON() assertion, and come up
with two follow-ups later on, that is, i) find a more suitable
place for this assertion, and possibly ii) have a special
allocator/initializer for such kind of temporary assocs.

High-availability Seamless Redundancy ("HSR") provides instant failover
redundancy for Ethernet networks. It requires a special network topology where
all nodes are connected in a ring (each node having two physical network
interfaces). It is suited for applications that demand high availability and
very short reaction time.
HSR acts on the Ethernet layer, using a registered Ethernet protocol type to
send special HSR frames in both directions over the ring. The driver creates
virtual network interfaces that can be used just like any ordinary Linux
network interface, for IP/TCP/UDP traffic etc. All nodes in the network ring
must be HSR capable.
This code is a "best effort" to comply with the HSR standard as described in
IEC 62439-3:2010 (HSRv0).

Joby Poriyath provided a xen-netback patch to reduce the size of
xenvif structure as some netdev allocation could fail under
memory pressure/fragmentation.
This patch is handling the problem at the core level, allowing
any netdev structures to use vmalloc() if kmalloc() failed.
As vmalloc() adds overhead on a critical network path, add __GFP_REPEAT
to kzalloc() flags to do this fallback only when really needed.

This fixes an outstanding bug found through IPVS, where SCTP packets
with skb->data_len > 0 (non-linearized) and empty frag_list, but data
accumulated in frags[] member, are forwarded with incorrect checksum
letting SCTP initial handshake fail on some systems. Linearizing each
SCTP skb in IPVS to prevent that would not be a good solution as
this leads to an additional and unnecessary performance penalty on
the load-balancer itself for no good reason (as we actually only want
to update the checksum, and can do that in a different/better way
presented here).
The actual problem is elsewhere, namely, that SCTP's checksumming
in sctp_compute_cksum() does not take frags[] into account like
skb_checksum() does. So while we are fixing this up, we better reuse
the existing code that we have anyway in __skb_checksum() and use it
for walking through the data doing checksumming. This will not only
fix this issue, but also consolidates some SCTP code with core
sk_buff code, bringing it closer together and removing respectively
avoiding reimplementation of skb_checksum() for no good reason.
As crc32c() can use hardware implementation within the crypto layer,
we leave that intact (it wraps around / falls back to e.g. slice-by-8
algorithm in __crc32c_le() otherwise); plus use the __crc32c_le_combine()
combinator for crc32c blocks.
Also, we remove all other SCTP checksumming code, so that we only
have to use sctp_compute_cksum() from now on; for doing that, we need
to transform SCTP checkumming in output path slightly, and can leave
the rest intact.

Currently, skb_checksum walks over 1) linearized, 2) frags[], and
3) frag_list data and calculats the one's complement, a 32 bit
result suitable for feeding into itself or csum_tcpudp_magic(),
but unsuitable for SCTP as we're calculating CRC32c there.
Hence, in order to not re-implement the very same function in
SCTP (and maybe other protocols) over and over again, use an
update() + combine() callback internally to allow for walking
over the skb with different algorithms.

We don't validate iph->ihl which may lead a dead loop if we meet a IPIP
skb whose iph->ihl is zero. Fix this by failing immediately when iph->ihl
is evil (less than 5).
This issue were introduced by commit ec5efe7946
(rps: support IPIP encapsulation).

tcp_flags=flags/mask
Bitwise match on TCP flags. The flags and mask are 16-bit num‐
bers written in decimal or in hexadecimal prefixed by 0x. Each
1-bit in mask requires that the corresponding bit in port must
match. Each 0-bit in mask causes the corresponding bit to be
ignored.
TCP protocol currently defines 9 flag bits, and additional 3
bits are reserved (must be transmitted as zero), see RFCs 793,
3168, and 3540. The flag bits are, numbering from the least
significant bit:
0: FIN No more data from sender.
1: SYN Synchronize sequence numbers.
2: RST Reset the connection.
3: PSH Push function.
4: ACK Acknowledgement field significant.
5: URG Urgent pointer field significant.
6: ECE ECN Echo.
7: CWR Congestion Windows Reduced.
8: NS Nonce Sum.
9-11: Reserved.
12-15: Not matchable, must be zero.

Widen TCP flags handling from 7 bits (uint8_t) to 12 bits (uint16_t).
The kernel interface remains at 8 bits, which makes no functional
difference now, as none of the higher bits is currently of interest
to the userspace.

OVS already can handle all types of segmentation offloads that
are supported by the kernel.
Following patch specifically enables UDP and IPV6 segmentation
offloads.

On some codepaths the skb does not have a dst entry
when xfrm_decode_session() is called. So check for
a valid skb_dst() before dereferencing the device
interface index. We use 0 as the device index if
there is no valid skb_dst(), or at reverse decoding
we use skb_iif as device interface index.
Bug was introduced with git commit bafd4bd4dc

We have one report of a crash in xs_tcp_setup_socket.
The call path to the crash is:
xs_tcp_setup_socket -> inet_stream_connect -> lock_sock_nested.
The 'sock' passed to that last function is NULL.
The only way I can see this happening is a concurrent call to
xs_close:
xs_close -> xs_reset_transport -> sock_release -> inet_release
inet_release sets:
sock->sk = NULL;
inet_stream_connect calls
lock_sock(sock->sk);
which gets NULL.
All calls to xs_close are protected by XPRT_LOCKED as are most
activations of the workqueue which runs xs_tcp_setup_socket.
The exception is xs_tcp_schedule_linger_timeout.
So presumably the timeout queued by the later fires exactly when some
other code runs xs_close().
To protect against this we can move the cancel_delayed_work_sync()
call from xs_destory() to xs_close().
As xs_close is never called from the worker scheduled on
->connect_worker, this can never deadlock.

This is necessary to access network header with the skb_network_header
function instead of calculate the position with mac_len, etc.
Do the same for the transport header, when we replace the IPv6 header
with the 6LoWPAN header.

On receiving side we don't need to set any headers in skb because the
6LoWPAN layer do not access it. Currently these values will set twice
after calling netif_rx.

After reading the function rt6_check_neigh(), we can
know that the RT6_NUD_FAIL_SOFT can be returned only
when the IS_ENABLE(CONFIG_IPV6_ROUTER_PREF) is false.
so in function find_match(), there is no need to execute
the statement !IS_ENABLED(CONFIG_IPV6_ROUTER_PREF).

The message dispatching part of tipc_recv_msg() is wrapped layers of
while/if/if/switch, causing out-of-control indentation and does not
look very good. We reduce two indentation levels by separating the
message dispatching from the blocks that checks link state and
sequence numbers, allowing longer function and arg names to be
consistently indented without wrapping. Additionally we also rename
"cont" label to "discard" and add one new label called "unlock_discard"
to make code clearer. In all, these are cosmetic changes that do not
alter the operation of TIPC in any way.

Fast Open currently has a fall back feature to address SYN-data being
dropped but it requires the middle-box to pass on regular SYN retry
after SYN-data. This is implemented in commit aab487435 ("net-tcp:
Fast Open client - detecting SYN-data drops")
However some NAT boxes will drop all subsequent packets after first
SYN-data and blackholes the entire connections. An example is in
commit 356d7d8 "netfilter: nf_conntrack: fix tcp_in_window for Fast
Open".
The sender should note such incidents and fall back to use the regular
TCP handshake on subsequent attempts temporarily as well: after the
second SYN timeouts the original Fast Open SYN is most likely lost.
When such an event recurs Fast Open is disabled based on the number of
recurrences exponentially.

Unlike UDP or TCP, we do not take the pseudo-header into
account in SCTP checksums. So in case port mapping is the
very same, we do not need to recalculate the whole SCTP
checksum in software, which is very expensive.
Also, similarly as in TCP, take into account when a private
helper mangled the packet. In that case, we also need to
recalculate the checksum even if ports might be same.
Thanks for feedback regarding skb->ip_summed checks from
Julian Anastasov; here's a discussion on these checks for
snat and dnat:
* For snat_handler(), we can see CHECKSUM_PARTIAL from
virtual devices, and from LOCAL_OUT, otherwise it
should be CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY. In general, in snat it
is more complex. skb contains the original route and
ip_vs_route_me_harder() can change the route after
snat_handler. So, for locally generated replies from
local server we can not preserve the CHECKSUM_PARTIAL
mode. It is an chicken or egg dilemma: snat_handler
needs the device after rerouting (to check for
NETIF_F_SCTP_CSUM), while ip_route_me_harder() wants
the snat_handler() to put the new saddr for proper
rerouting.
* For dnat_handler(), we should not see CHECKSUM_COMPLETE
for SCTP, in fact the small set of drivers that support
SCTP offloading return CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY on correctly
received SCTP csum. We can see CHECKSUM_PARTIAL from
local stack or received from virtual drivers. The idea is
that SCTP decides to avoid csum calculation if hardware
supports offloading. IPVS can change the device after
rerouting to real server but we can preserve the
CHECKSUM_PARTIAL mode if the new device supports
offloading too. This works because skb dst is changed
before dnat_handler and we see the new device. So, checks
in the 'if' part will decide whether it is ok to keep
CHECKSUM_PARTIAL for the output. If the packet was with
CHECKSUM_NONE, hence we deal with unknown checksum. As we
recalculate the sum for IP header in all cases, it should
be safe to use CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY. We can forward wrong
checksum in this case (without cp->app). In case of
CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY, the csum was valid on receive.

Currently multicast code attempts to extrace the vlan id from
the skb even when vlan filtering is disabled. This can lead
to mdb entries being created with the wrong vlan id.
Pass the already extracted vlan id to the multicast
filtering code to make the correct id is used in
creation as well as lookup.

This work contains a lightweight BPF-based traffic classifier that can
serve as a flexible alternative to ematch-based tree classification, i.e.
now that BPF filter engine can also be JITed in the kernel. Naturally, tc
actions and policies are supported as well with cls_bpf. Multiple BPF
programs/filter can be attached for a class, or they can just as well be
written within a single BPF program, that's really up to the user how he
wishes to run/optimize the code, e.g. also for inversion of verdicts etc.
The notion of a BPF program's return/exit codes is being kept as follows:
0: No match
-1: Select classid given in "tc filter ..." command
else: flowid, overwrite the default one
As a minimal usage example with iproute2, we use a 3 band prio root qdisc
on a router with sfq each as leave, and assign ssh and icmp bpf-based
filters to band 1, http traffic to band 2 and the rest to band 3. For the
first two bands we load the bytecode from a file, in the 2nd we load it
inline as an example:

BPF programs can be easily created and passed to tc, either as inline
'bytecode' or 'bytecode-file'. There are a couple of front-ends that can

It was chosen to load bytecode into tc, since the reverse operation,
tc filter list dev em1, is then able to show the exact commands again.
Possible follow-up work could also include a small expression compiler
for iproute2. Tested with the help of bmon. This idea came up during
the Netfilter Workshop 2013 in Copenhagen. Also thanks to feedback from

UFO as well as UDP_CORK do not respect IP_PMTUDISC_DO and
IP_PMTUDISC_PROBE well enough.
UFO enabled packet delivery just appends all frags to the cork and hands
it over to the network card. So we just deliver non-DF udp fragments
(DF-flag may get overwritten by hardware or virtual UFO enabled
interface).
UDP_CORK does enqueue the data until the cork is disengaged. At this
point it sets the correct IP_DF and local_df flags and hands it over to
ip_fragment which in this case will generate an icmp error which gets
appended to the error socket queue. This is not reflected in the syscall
error (of course, if UFO is enabled this also won't happen).
Improve this by checking the pmtudisc flags before appending data to the
socket and if we still can fit all data in one packet when IP_PMTUDISC_DO
or IP_PMTUDISC_PROBE is set, only then proceed.
We use (mtu-fragheaderlen) to check for the maximum length because we
ensure not to generate a fragment and non-fragmented data does not need
to have its length aligned on 64 bit boundaries. Also the passed in
ip_options are already aligned correctly.
Maybe, we can relax some other checks around ip_fragment. This needs
more research.

commit 6ff50cd555 ("tcp: gso: do not generate out of order packets")
had an heuristic that can trigger a warning in skb_try_coalesce(),
because skb->truesize of the gso segments were exactly set to mss.
This breaks the requirement that
skb->truesize >= skb->len + truesizeof(struct sk_buff);
It can trivially be reproduced by :
ifconfig lo mtu 1500
ethtool -K lo tso off
netperf
As the skbs are looped into the TCP networking stack, skb_try_coalesce()
warns us of these skb under-estimating their truesize.

The code for privacy extentions is very mature, and making it
configurable only gives marginal memory/code savings in exchange
for obfuscation and hard to read code via CPP ifdef'ery.
