ab88c66dea [media] rc: add wakeup_protocols sysfs file
Add a wakeup_protocols sysfs file which controls the new
rc_dev::enabled_protocols[RC_FILTER_WAKEUP], which is the mask of
protocols that are used for the wakeup filter.

A new RC driver callback change_wakeup_protocol() is called to change
the wakeup protocol mask.

bfd0306462 [media] v4l: Document timestamp buffer flag behaviour
Timestamp buffer flags are constant at the moment. Document them so that 1)

872484ce40 [media] v4l: Add timestamp source flags, mask and document them
Some devices do not produce timestamps that correspond to the end of the
frame. The user space should be informed on the matter. This patch achieves
that by adding buffer flags (and a mask) for timestamp sources since more
possible timestamping points are expected than just two.

A three-bit mask is defined (V4L2_BUF_FLAG_TSTAMP_SRC_MASK) and two of the
eight possible values is are defined V4L2_BUF_FLAG_TSTAMP_SRC_EOF for end of
frame (value zero) V4L2_BUF_FLAG_TSTAMP_SRC_SOE for start of exposure (next
value).

c6c092135d [media] v4l: Document timestamp behaviour to correspond to reality
Document that monotonic timestamps are taken after the corresponding frame
has been received, not when the reception has begun. This corresponds to the
reality of current drivers: the timestamp is naturally taken when the
hardware triggers an interrupt to tell the driver to handle the received
frame.

Remove the note on timestamp accuracy as it is fairly subjective what is
actually an unstable timestamp.

Also remove explanation that output buffer timestamps can be used to delay
outputting a frame.

Remove the footnote saying we always use realtime clock.

393aa9c1cc ALSA: Mandate to pass a device pointer at card creation time
This is a part of preliminary works for modernizing the ALSA device
structure. So far, we set card->dev at later point after the object
creation. Because of this, the core layer doesn't always know which
device is being handled before it's actually registered, and it makes
impossible to show the device in error messages, for example. The
first goal is to achieve a proper struct device initialization at the
very beginning of probing.

As a first step, this patch introduces snd_card_new() function (yes
there was the same named function in the very past), in order to
receive the parent device pointer from the very beginning.
snd_card_create() is marked as deprecated.

At this point, there is no functional change other than that. The
actual change of the device creation scheme will follow later.

4195086571 [media] DocBook: Add a description for the Remote Controller interface
Adds a missing section to describe the remote controller interface.

The DocBook is just addin the same documentation as written at
Documentation/ABI/testing/sysfs-class-rc, using the DocBook's
way, and dropping timestamps/contact info.

While that means that we'll have the same info on two parts, there
are parts of the remote controller interface that doesn't belong
at Documentation/ABI/, and it makes sense to have everything
on the same place. This also means that we'll need to manually
track to be sure that both places will be synchronized, but, as
it is not expected much changes on it, this sync can be done
manually.

It also adds an introduction that states that the IR is a normal
evdev/input interface, plus the sysfs class nodes.

d4d6819f9b [media] DocBook media: update three sections of common.xml
Updates for the "Tuners and Modulators", "Video Standards" and
"Digital Video (DV) Timings" sections.

Besides lots of trivial little fixes the main changes are:

- Remove two footnotes from "Video Standards": the first is a discussion
of alternative methods of setting standards, which is pretty pointless
since the standards API is effectively frozen anyway, and the second
points to 'rationale' that makes little or no sense to me.

- Clarify a few things in the "Digital Video (DV) Timings" section.
It was awkwardly formatted as well: there used to be a list with
multiple bullets that has been reduced to a single item, so drop the

ac6d662a95 doc: Add "*.svg" to DocBook/.gitignore
Mauro add "*.png" and "*.gif" in DocBook/.gitignore in commit 6d172492,
but forgot to add "*.svg", this made git unnecessary to track directory

82cb6acea4 MTD merge for 3.13
* Unify some compile-time differences so that we have fewer uses of
    #ifdef CONFIG_OF in atmel_nand
  * Other general cleanups (removing unused functions, options, variables,
    fields; use correct interfaces)
  * Fix BUG() for new odd-sized NAND, which report non-power-of-2 dimensions via
    ONFI
  * Miscellaneous driver fixes (SPI NOR flash; BCM47xx NAND flash; etc.)
  * Improve differentiation between SLC and MLC NAND -- this clarifies an ABI
issue regarding the MTD "type" (in sysfs and in ioctl(MEMGETINFO)), where
the MTD_MLCNANDFLASH type was present but inconsistently used
  * Extend GPMI NAND to support multi-chip-select NAND for some platforms
  * Many improvements to the OMAP2/3 NAND driver, including an expanded DT
binding to bring us closer to mainline support for some OMAP systems
  * Fix a deadlock in the error path of the Atmel NAND driver probe
  * Correct the error codes from MTD mmap() to conform to POSIX and the Linux
Programmer's Manual. This is an acknowledged change in the MTD ABI, but I
can't imagine somebody relying on the non-standard -ENOSYS error code
specifically. Am I just being unimaginative? :)
  * Fix a few important GPMI NAND bugs (one regression from 3.12 and one
    long-standing race condition)
  * More? Read the log!

Linus Torvalds
42a2d923cc Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next
Pull networking updates from David Miller:

 1) The addition of nftables. No longer will we need protocol aware
firewall filtering modules, it can all live in userspace.

At the core of nftables is a, for lack of a better term, virtual
machine that executes byte codes to inspect packet or metadata
(arriving interface index, etc.) and make verdict decisions.

Besides support for loading packet contents and comparing them, the
interpreter supports lookups in various datastructures as
fundamental operations. For example sets are supports, and
therefore one could create a set of whitelist IP address entries
which have ACCEPT verdicts attached to them, and use the appropriate
byte codes to do such lookups.

Since the interpreted code is composed in userspace, userspace can
do things like optimize things before giving it to the kernel.

Another major improvement is the capability of atomically updating
portions of the ruleset. In the existing netfilter implementation,
one has to update the entire rule set in order to make a change and
    this is very expensive.

Userspace tools exist to create nftables rules using existing
netfilter rule sets, but both kernel implementations will need to
co-exist for quite some time as we transition from the old to the
    new stuff.

Kudos to Patrick McHardy, Pablo Neira Ayuso, and others who have
    worked so hard on this.

 2) Daniel Borkmann and Hannes Frederic Sowa made several improvements
to our pseudo-random number generator, mostly used for things like
UDP port randomization and netfitler, amongst other things.

In particular the taus88 generater is updated to taus113, and test
    cases are added.

 3) Support 64-bit rates in HTB and TBF schedulers, from Eric Dumazet
    and Yang Yingliang.

 4) Add support for new 577xx tigon3 chips to tg3 driver, from Nithin
    Sujir.

 5) Fix two fatal flaws in TCP dynamic right sizing, from Eric Dumazet,
    Neal Cardwell, and Yuchung Cheng.

 6) Allow IP_TOS and IP_TTL to be specified in sendmsg() ancillary
control message data, much like other socket option attributes.
    From Francesco Fusco.

 7) Allow applications to specify a cap on the rate computed
automatically by the kernel for pacing flows, via a new
SO_MAX_PACING_RATE socket option. From Eric Dumazet.

 8) Make the initial autotuned send buffer sizing in TCP more closely
reflect actual needs, from Eric Dumazet.

 9) Currently early socket demux only happens for TCP sockets, but we
can do it for connected UDP sockets too. Implementation from Shawn
    Bohrer.

10) Refactor inet socket demux with the goal of improving hash demux
performance for listening sockets. With the main goals being able
to use RCU lookups on even request sockets, and eliminating the
listening lock contention. From Eric Dumazet.

11) The bonding layer has many demuxes in it's fast path, and an RCU
conversion was started back in 3.11, several changes here extend the
RCU usage to even more locations. From Ding Tianhong and Wang
Yufen, based upon suggestions by Nikolay Aleksandrov and Veaceslav
    Falico.

12) Allow stackability of segmentation offloads to, in particular, allow
segmentation offloading over tunnels. From Eric Dumazet.

13) Significantly improve the handling of secret keys we input into the
various hash functions in the inet hashtables, TCP fast open, as
well as syncookies. From Hannes Frederic Sowa. The key fundamental
operation is "net_get_random_once()" which uses static keys.

Hannes even extended this to ipv4/ipv6 fragmentation handling and
    our generic flow dissector.

14) The generic driver layer takes care now to set the driver data to
NULL on device removal, so it's no longer necessary for drivers to
explicitly set it to NULL any more. Many drivers have been cleaned
up in this way, from Jingoo Han.

15) Add a BPF based packet scheduler classifier, from Daniel Borkmann.

16) Improve CRC32 interfaces and generic SKB checksum iterators so that
SCTP's checksumming can more cleanly be handled. Also from Daniel
    Borkmann.

17) Add a new PMTU discovery mode, IP_PMTUDISC_INTERFACE, which forces
using the interface MTU value. This helps avoid PMTU attacks,
particularly on DNS servers. From Hannes Frederic Sowa.

18) Use generic XPS for transmit queue steering rather than internal
(re-)implementation in virtio-net. From Jason Wang.

* sysfs_create/remove_bin_file() are moved to fs/sysfs/file.c.

* sysfs_init_inode() is updated to use the new sysfs_bin_operations
instead of bin_fops for bin files.

* fs/sysfs/bin.c and the related pieces are removed.

This patch shouldn't introduce any behavior difference to bin file
accesses.

Overall, this unification reduces the amount of duplicate logic, makes
behaviors more consistent and paves the road for building simpler and
more versatile interface which will allow other subsystems to make use
of sysfs for their pseudo filesystems.

dad2256269 mtd: nand: remove NAND_BBT_SCANEMPTY
NAND_BBT_SCANEMPTY is a strange, badly-supported option with omap as its
single remaining user.

NAND_BBT_SCANEMPTY was likely used by accident in omap2[1]. And anyway,
omap2 doesn't scan the chip for bad blocks (courtesy of
NAND_SKIP_BBTSCAN), and so its use of this option is irrelevant.

This patch drops the NAND_BBT_SCANEMPTY option.

1793126fce drm: implement experimental render nodes
Render nodes provide an API for userspace to use non-privileged GPU
commands without any running DRM-Master. It is useful for offscreen
rendering, GPGPU clients, and normal render clients which do not perform
modesetting.

Compared to legacy clients, render clients no longer need any
authentication to perform client ioctls. Instead, user-space controls
render/client access to GPUs via filesystem access-modes on the
render-node. Once a render-node was opened, a client has full access to
the client/render operations on the GPU. However, no modesetting or ioctls
that affect global state are allowed on render nodes.

To prevent privilege-escalation, drivers must explicitly state that they
support render nodes. They must mark their render-only ioctls as
DRM_RENDER_ALLOW so render clients can use them. Furthermore, they must
support clients without any attached master.

If filesystem access-modes are not enough for fine-grained access control
to render nodes (very unlikely, considering the versaitlity of FS-ACLs),
you may still fall-back to fd-passing from server to client (which allows
arbitrary access-control). However, note that revoking access is
currently impossible and unlikely to get implemented.

Note: Render clients no longer have any associated DRM-Master as they are
supposed to be independent of any server state. DRM core highly depends on
file_priv->master to be non-NULL for modesetting/ctx/etc. commands.
Therefore, drivers must be very careful to not require DRM-Master if they
support DRIVER_RENDER.

So far render-nodes are protected by "drm_rnodes". As long as this
module-parameter is not set to 1, a driver will not create render nodes.
This allows us to experiment with the API a bit before we stabilize it.

7d14bb6b53 drm: don't call ->firstopen for KMS drivers
It has way too much potential for driver writers to do stupid things
like delayed hw setup because the load sequence is somehow racy (e.g.
the imx driver in staging). So don't call it for modesetting drivers,
which reduces the complexity of the drm core -> driver interface a
notch.

v2: Don't forget to update DocBook.

v3: Go with Laurent's slightly more elaborate proposal for the DocBook
update. Add a few words on top of his diff to elaborate a bit on what

b0e898ac55 drm: remove FASYNC support
So I've stumbled over drm_fasync and wondered what it does. Digging
that up is quite a story.

First I've had to read up on what this does and ended up being rather
bewildered why peopled loved signals so much back in the days that
they've created SIGIO just for that ...

Then I wondered how this ever works, and what that strange "No-op."
comment right above it should mean. After all calling the core fasync
helper is pretty obviously not a noop. After reading through the
kernels FASYNC implementation I've noticed that signals are only sent
out to the processes attached with FASYNC by calling kill_fasync.

No merged drm driver has ever done that.

After more digging I've found out that the only driver that ever used
this is the so called GAMMA driver. I've frankly never heard of such a
gpu brand ever before. Now FASYNC seems to not have been the only bad
thing with that driver, since Dave Airlie removed it from the drm
driver with prejudice:

commit 1430163b4bbf7b00367ea1066c1c5fe85dbeefed
Author: Dave Airlie <airlied@linux.ie>
Date: Sun Aug 29 12:04:35 2004 +0000

Drop GAMMA DRM from a great height ...

Long story short, the drm fasync support seems to be doing absolutely
nothing. And the only user of it was never merged into the upstream
kernel. And we don't need any fops->fasync callback since the fcntl
implementation in the kernel already implements the noop case
correctly.

So stop this particular cargo-cult and rip it all out.

v2: Kill drm_fasync assignments in rcar (newly added) and imx drivers
(somehow I've missed that one in staging). Also drop the reference in
the drm DocBook. ARM compile-fail reported by Rob Clark.

v3: Move the removal of dev->buf_asnyc assignment in drm_setup to this
patch here.

v4: Actually git add ... tsk.

af61a16518 mac80211: add control port protocol TX control flag
A lot of drivers check the frame protocol for ETH_P_PAE,
for various reasons (like making those more reliable).
Add a new flags bitmap to the TX control info and a new
flag indicating the control port protocol is in use to
let all drivers also apply such logic to other control
port protocols, should they be configured.

Also use the new flag in the iwlwifi drivers.

fe3078fa5c drm: add unified vma offset manager
If we want to map GPU memory into user-space, we need to linearize the
addresses to not confuse mm-core. Currently, GEM and TTM both implement
their own offset-managers to assign a pgoff to each object for user-space
CPU access. GEM uses a hash-table, TTM uses an rbtree.

This patch provides a unified implementation that can be used to replace
both. TTM allows partial mmaps with a given offset, so we cannot use
hashtables as the start address may not be known at mmap time. Hence, we
use the rbtree-implementation of TTM.

We could easily update drm_mm to use an rbtree instead of a linked list
for it's object list and thus drop the rbtree from the vma-manager.
However, this would slow down drm_mm object allocation for all other
use-cases (rbtree insertion) and add another 4-8 bytes to each mm node.
Hence, use the separate tree but allow for later migration.

This is a rewrite of the 2012-proposal by David Airlie <airlied@linux.ie>

v2:
 - fix Docbook integration
 - drop drm_mm_node_linked() and use drm_mm_node_allocated()
 - remove unjustified likely/unlikely usage (but keep for rbtree paths)
 - remove BUG_ON() as drm_mm already does that
 - clarify page-based vs. byte-based addresses
 - use drm_vma_node_reset() for initialization, too
v4:
 - allow external locking via drm_vma_offset_un/lock_lookup()
 - add locked lookup helper drm_vma_offset_lookup_locked()
v5:
 - fix drm_vma_offset_lookup() to correctly validate range-mismatches
(fix (offset > start + pages))
 - fix drm_vma_offset_exact_lookup() to actually do what it says
 - remove redundant vm_pages member (add drm_vma_node_size() helper)
 - remove unneeded goto
 - fix documentation

496322bc91 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next
Pull networking updates from David Miller:
"This is a re-do of the net-next pull request for the current merge
window. The only difference from the one I made the other day is that
this has Eliezer's interface renames and the timeout handling changes
made based upon your feedback, as well as a few bug fixes that have
  trickeled in.

  Highlights:

   1) Low latency device polling, eliminating the cost of interrupt
handling and context switches. Allows direct polling of a network
device from socket operations, such as recvmsg() and poll().

Currently ixgbe, mlx4, and bnx2x support this feature.

Full high level description, performance numbers, and design in
      commit 0a4db187a9 ("Merge branch 'll_poll'")

      From Eliezer Tamir.

   2) With the routing cache removed, ip_check_mc_rcu() gets exercised
more than ever before in the case where we have lots of multicast
addresses. Use a hash table instead of a simple linked list, from
      Eric Dumazet.

   3) Add driver for Atheros CQA98xx 802.11ac wireless devices, from
Bartosz Markowski, Janusz Dziedzic, Kalle Valo, Marek Kwaczynski,
Marek Puzyniak, Michal Kazior, and Sujith Manoharan.

   4) Support reporting the TUN device persist flag to userspace, from
      Pavel Emelyanov.

   5) Allow controlling network device VF link state using netlink, from
      Rony Efraim.

   6) Support GRE tunneling in openvswitch, from Pravin B Shelar.

   7) Adjust SOCK_MIN_RCVBUF and SOCK_MIN_SNDBUF for modern times, from
      Daniel Borkmann and Eric Dumazet.

   8) Allow controlling of TCP quickack behavior on a per-route basis,
      from Cong Wang.

   9) Several bug fixes and improvements to vxlan from Stephen
Hemminger, Pravin B Shelar, and Mike Rapoport. In particular,
support receiving on multiple UDP ports.

  10) Major cleanups, particular in the area of debugging and cookie
lifetime handline, to the SCTP protocol code. From Daniel
      Borkmann.

  11) Allow packets to cross network namespaces when traversing tunnel
      devices. From Nicolas Dichtel.

  12) Allow monitoring netlink traffic via AF_PACKET sockets, in a
manner akin to how we monitor real network traffic via ptype_all.
      From Daniel Borkmann.

  13) Several bug fixes and improvements for the new alx device driver,
      from Johannes Berg.

  14) Fix scalability issues in the netem packet scheduler's time queue,
by using an rbtree. From Eric Dumazet.

  15) Several bug fixes in TCP loss recovery handling, from Yuchung
      Cheng.

  16) Add support for GSO segmentation of MPLS packets, from Simon
      Horman.

  17) Make network notifiers have a real data type for the opaque
pointer that's passed into them. Use this to properly handle
network device flag changes in arp_netdev_event(). From Jiri
      Pirko and Timo Teräs.

  18) Convert several drivers over to module_pci_driver(), from Peter
      Huewe.

  19) tcp_fixup_rcvbuf() can loop 500 times over loopback, just use a
O(1) calculation instead. From Eric Dumazet.

  20) Support setting of explicit tunnel peer addresses in ipv6, just
      like ipv4. From Nicolas Dichtel.

  21) Protect x86 BPF JIT against spraying attacks, from Eric Dumazet.

  22) Prevent a single high rate flow from overruning an individual cpu
during RX packet processing via selective flow shedding. From
      Willem de Bruijn.

  23) Don't use spinlocks in TCP md5 signing fast paths, from Eric
      Dumazet.

  24) Don't just drop GSO packets which are above the TBF scheduler's
burst limit, chop them up so they are in-bounds instead. Also
      from Eric Dumazet.

  25) VLAN offloads are missed when configured on top of a bridge, fix
      from Vlad Yasevich.

  26) Support IPV6 in ping sockets. From Lorenzo Colitti.

  27) Receive flow steering targets should be updated at poll() time
      too, from David Majnemer.

  28) Fix several corner case regressions in PMTU/redirect handling due
to the routing cache removal, from Timo Teräs.

  29) We have to be mindful of ipv4 mapped ipv6 sockets in
      upd_v6_push_pending_frames().  From Hannes Frederic Sowa.

  30) Fix L2TP sequence number handling bugs, from James Chapman."

"Okay this is the big one, I was stalled on the fbdev pull req as I
stupidly let fbdev guys merge a patch I required to fix a warning with
some patches I had, they ended up merging the patch from the wrong
place, but the warning should be fixed. In future I'll just take the
  patch myself!

  Outside drm:

There are some snd changes for the HDMI audio interactions on haswell,
they've been acked for inclusion via my tree. This relies on the
wound/wait tree from Ingo which is already merged.

  Major changes:

AMD finally released the dynamic power management code for all their
GPUs from r600->present day, this is great, off by default for now but
also a huge amount of code, in fact it is most of this pull request.

Since it landed there has been a lot of community testing and Alex has
sent a lot of fixes for any bugs found so far. I suspect radeon might
now be the biggest kernel driver ever :-P p.s. radeon.dpm=1 to enable
  dynamic powermanagement for anyone.

  New drivers:

  Renesas r-car display unit.

  Other highlights:

   - core: GEM CMA prime support, use new w/w mutexs for TTM
     reservations, cursor hotspot, doc updates
   - dvo chips: chrontel 7010B support
   - i915: Haswell (fbc, ips, vecs, watermarks, audio powerwell),
Valleyview (enabled by default, rc6), lots of pll reworking, 30bpp
     support (this time for sure)
   - nouveau: async buffer object deletion, context/register init
updates, kernel vp2 engine support, GF117 support, GK110 accel
support (with external nvidia ucode), context cleanups.
   - exynos: memory leak fixes, Add S3C64XX SoC series support, device
tree updates, common clock framework support,
   - qxl: cursor hotspot support, multi-monitor support, suspend/resume
     support
   - mgag200: hw cursor support, g200 mode limiting
   - shmobile: prime support
   - tegra: fixes mostly

ee89bd6bc7 lib: Move fonts from drivers/video/console/ to lib/fonts/
Several drivers need font support independent of CONFIG_VT, cfr. commit
9cbce8d7e1dae0744ca4f68d62aa7de18196b6f4, "console/font: Refactor font
support code selection logic").
Hence move the fonts and their support logic from drivers/video/console/ to
its own library directory lib/fonts/.
This also allows to limit processing of drivers/video/console/Makefile to
CONFIG_VT=y again.

786d7257e5 reservation: cross-device reservation support, v4
This adds support for a generic reservations framework that can be
hooked up to ttm and dma-buf and allows easy sharing of reservations
across devices.

The idea is that a dma-buf and ttm object both will get a pointer
to a struct reservation_object, which has to be reserved before
anything is done with the contents of the dma-buf.

Changes since v1:
 - Fix locking issue in ticket_reserve, which could cause mutex_unlock
to be called too many times.
Changes since v2:
 - All fence related calls and members have been taken out for now,
what's left is the bare minimum to be useful for ttm locking conversion.
Changes since v3:
 - Removed helper functions too. The documentation has an example
implementation for locking. With the move to ww_mutex there is no
need to have much logic any more.

8d61ffa5e0 cfg80211/mac80211: use cfg80211 wdev mutex in mac80211
Using separate locks in cfg80211 and mac80211 has always
caused issues, for example having to unlock in places in
mac80211 to call cfg80211, which even needed a framework
to make cfg80211 calls after some functions returned etc.

Additionally, I suspect some issues people have reported
with the cfg80211 state getting confused could be due to
such issues, when cfg80211 is asking mac80211 to change
state but mac80211 is in the process of telling cfg80211
that the state changed (in another way.)

Merge tag 'v3.10-rc2' into drm-intel-next-queued

Backmerge Linux 3.10-rc2 since the various (rather trivial) conflicts
grew a bit out of hand. intel_dp.c has the only real functional
conflict since the logic changed while dev_priv->edp.bpp was moved
around.

Also squash in a whitespace fixup from Ben Widawsky for
i915_gem_gtt.c, git seems to do something pretty strange in there
(which I don't fully understand tbh).

The e{uid, gid} --> {uid, gid} credentials fix conflicted with the
cleanup in net-next to now pass cred structs around.

The be2net driver had a bug fix in 'net' that overlapped with the VLAN
interface changes by Patrick McHardy in net-next.

An IGB conflict existed because in 'net' the build_skb() support was
reverted, and in 'net-next' there was a comment style fix within that
code.

Several batman-adv conflicts were resolved by making sure that all
calls to batadv_is_my_mac() are changed to have a new bat_priv first
argument.

Eric Dumazet's TS ECR fix in TCP in 'net' conflicted with the F-RTO
rewrite in 'net-next', mostly overlapping changes.

Thanks to Stephen Rothwell and Antonio Quartulli for help with several
of these merge resolutions.

Driver implementations of the drm_crtc's .page_flip() function are
required to update the crtc->fb field on success to reflect that the new
framebuffer is now in use. This is important to keep reference counting
on the framebuffers balanced.

While at it, document this requirement to keep others from falling into
the same trap.
