da9eb580b7 ui: add egl_fb_read_rect()
Similar to egl_fb_read(), same limitations, but with extra arguments to
read a subset of the framebuffer. Used in following commits.

afe8e0b6db ui/egl: default to GLES on windows
Windows GL drivers are notoriously not very good. Otoh, ANGLE provides
rock solid GLES implementation on top of direct3d. We should recommend
it and default to ES when using EGL (users can easily override this if
necessary)

48dddba176 ui/dbus: use shared memory when possible on win32
When the display surface has an associated HANDLE, we can duplicate it
to the client process and let it map the memory to avoid expensive copies.

Introduce two new win32-specific methods ScanoutMap and UpdateMap. The
first is used to inform the listener about the a shared map
availability, and the second for display updates.

09b4c198b8 console/win32: allocate shareable display surface
Introduce qemu_win32_map_alloc() and qemu_win32_map_free() to allocate
shared memory mapping. The handle can be used to share the mapping with
another process.

Teach qemu_create_displaysurface() to allocate shared memory. Following
patches will introduce other places for shared memory allocation.

Other patches for -display dbus will share the memory when possible with
the client, to avoid expensive memory copy between the processes.

439e0164cd ui/dbus: introduce "Interfaces" properties
This property is similar to ``org.freedesktop.DBus.Interfaces`` property
on the bus interface: it's an array of strings listing the extra
interfaces and capabilities available, in a convenient way.

Most interfaces are implicit, as they are required. For
``org/qemu/Display1_$id``, we can list the Keyboard And Mouse
interfaces. Those could be optional.

6cc5a6159a ui/dbus: win32 support
D-Bus doesn't support fd-passing on Windows (AF_UNIX doesn't have
SCM_RIGHTS yet, but there are other means to share objects. I have
proposed various solutions upstream, but none seem fitting enough atm).

To make the "-display dbus" work on Windows, implement an alternative
D-Bus interface where all the 'h' (FDs) arguments are replaced with
'ay' (WSASocketW data), and sockets are passed to the other end via
WSADuplicateSocket().

bd1386cce1 cutils: Adjust signature of parse_uint[_full]
It's already confusing that we have two very similar functions for
wrapping the parse of a 64-bit unsigned value, differing mainly on
whether they permit leading '-'. Adjust the signature of parse_uint()
and parse_uint_full() to be like all of qemu_strto*(): put the result
parameter last, use the same types (uint64_t and unsigned long long
have the same width, but are not always the same type), and mark
endptr const (this latter change only affects the rare caller of
parse_uint). Adjust all callers in the tree.

While at it, note that since cutils.c already includes:

    QEMU_BUILD_BUG_ON(sizeof(int64_t) != sizeof(long long));

we are guaranteed that the result of parse_uint* cannot exceed
UINT64_MAX (or the build would have failed), so we can drop
pre-existing dead comparisons in opts-visitor.c that were never false.

5a4cb61ae1 ui/gtk: enable backend to send multi-touch events
GTK3 provides the infrastructure to receive and process multi-touch
events through the "touch-event" signal and the GdkEventTouch type.
Make use of it to transpose events from the host to the guest.

This allows users of machines with hardware capable of receiving
multi-touch events to run guests that can also receive those events
and interpret them as gestures, when appropriate.

An example of this in action can be seen here:

1dfea3f212 ui/sdl2: disable SDL_HINT_GRAB_KEYBOARD on Windows
Windows sends an extra left control key up/down input event for
every right alt key up/down input event for keyboards with
international layout. Since commit 830473455f ("ui/sdl2: fix
handling of AltGr key on Windows") QEMU uses a Windows low level
keyboard hook procedure to reliably filter out the special left
control key and to grab the keyboard on Windows.

The SDL2 version 2.0.16 introduced its own Windows low level
keyboard hook procedure to grab the keyboard. Windows calls this
callback before the QEMU keyboard hook procedure. This disables
the special left control key filter when the keyboard is grabbed.

To fix the problem, disable the SDL2 Windows low level keyboard
hook procedure.

cd22a0f520 ui: Fix pixel colour channel order for PNG screenshots
When we take a PNG screenshot the ordering of the colour channels in
the data is not correct, resulting in the image having weird
colouring compared to the actual display. (Specifically, on a
little-endian host the blue and red channels are swapped; on
big-endian everything is wrong.)

This happens because the pixman idea of the pixel data and the libpng
idea differ. PIXMAN_a8r8g8b8 defines that pixels are 32-bit values,
with A in bits 24-31, R in bits 16-23, G in bits 8-15 and B in bits
0-7. This means that on little-endian systems the bytes in memory
are
   B G R A
and on big-endian systems they are
   A R G B

libpng, on the other hand, thinks of pixels as being a series of
values for each channel, so its format PNG_COLOR_TYPE_RGB_ALPHA
always wants bytes in the order
   R G B A

This isn't the same as the pixman order for either big or little
endian hosts.

The alpha channel is also unnecessary bulk in the output PNG file,
because there is no alpha information in a screenshot.

To handle the endianness issue, we already define in ui/qemu-pixman.h
various PIXMAN_BE_* and PIXMAN_LE_* values that give consistent
byte-order pixel channel formats. So we can use PIXMAN_BE_r8g8b8 and
PNG_COLOR_TYPE_RGB, which both have an in-memory byte order of
    R G B
and 3 bytes per pixel.

(PPM format screenshots get this right; they already use the
PIXMAN_BE_r8g8b8 format.)

3f9c41c5df vnc: avoid underflow when accessing user-provided address
If hostlen is zero, there is a possibility that addrstr[hostlen - 1]
underflows and, if a closing bracked is there, hostlen - 2 is passed

9b6611f40b ui/sdl2: remove workaround forcing x11
This workaround was put in place in the original implementation almost
10 years ago, considering a very old SDL2 version. Currently it prevents
users to run in a wayland-only environment without manually forcing the
backend.
The SDL2 wayland backend has been supported by distributions for a very
long time (e.g. in Fedora, first available 8 years ago), and is now
considered stable and becoming the default for new SDL2 releases.
Instead of requiring the x11 backend to exist by default, let new qemu
releases run with the default chosen by the installed SDL2 version.

keyboard keys to press to release the mouse. Make that hint text a bit
more user friendly for a Mac user:

 - Replace "Ctrl" and "Alt" by appropriate symbols for those keyboard
   keys typically displayed for them on a Mac (encode those symbols by
   using UTF-8 characters).

 - Drop " + " in between the keys, as that's not common on macOS for
   documenting keyboard shortcuts.

 - Convert lower case "g" to upper case "G", as that's common on macOS.

 - Add one additional space at start and end of key stroke set, to
   visually separate the key strokes from the rest of the text.

68ba85cecc coroutine: Split qemu/coroutine-core.h off qemu/coroutine.h
qemu/coroutine.h and qemu/lockable.h include each other.

They need each other only in macro expansions, so we could simply drop
both inclusions to break the loop, and add suitable includes to files
that expand the macros.

Instead, move a part of qemu/coroutine.h to new qemu/coroutine-core.h
so that qemu/coroutine-core.h doesn't need qemu/lockable.h, and
qemu/lockable.h only needs qemu/coroutine-core.h.  Result:
qemu/coroutine.h includes qemu/lockable.h includes
qemu/coroutine-core.h.

They are also a nuisance to work with. Recent commit "qapi: Start to

54fde4ff06 qapi block: Elide redundant has_FOO in generated C
The has_FOO for pointer-valued FOO are redundant, except for arrays.
They are also a nuisance to work with. Recent commit "qapi: Start to
elide redundant has_FOO in generated C" provided the means to elide
them step by step. This is the step for qapi/block*.json.

Said commit explains the transformation in more detail.

There is one instance of the invariant violation mentioned there:
qcow2_signal_corruption() passes false, "" when node_name is an empty
string. Take care to pass NULL then.

The previous two commits cleaned up two more.

Additionally, helper bdrv_latency_histogram_stats() loses its output
parameters and returns a value instead.

64f1359bd0 ui/gtk: prevent ui lock up when dpy_gl_update called again before current draw event occurs
A warning, "qemu: warning: console: no gl-unblock within" followed by
guest scanout lockup can happen if dpy_gl_update is called in a row
and the second call is made before gd_draw_event scheduled by the first
call is taking place. This is because draw call returns without decrementing
gl_block ref count if the dmabuf was already submitted as shown below.

(gd_gl_area_draw/gd_egl_draw)

        if (dmabuf) {
            if (!dmabuf->draw_submitted) {
                return;
            } else {
                dmabuf->draw_submitted = false;
            }
        }

So it should not schedule any redundant draw event in case draw_submitted is
already set in gd_egl_fluch/gd_gl_area_scanout_flush.

The initialization of the clipboard is gtk.c, as well as the
compilation of gtk-clipboard.c are now conditional on this new
option to be set.

c551fb0b53 module: add Error arguments to module_load and module_load_qom
improve error handling during module load, by changing:

bool module_load(const char *prefix, const char *lib_name);
void module_load_qom(const char *type);

to:

int module_load(const char *prefix, const char *name, Error **errp);
int module_load_qom(const char *type, Error **errp);

where the return value is:

 -1 on module load error, and errp is set with the error
  0 on module or one of its dependencies are not installed
  1 on module load success
  2 on module load success (module already loaded or built-in)

module_load_qom_one has been introduced in:

commit 28457744c3 ("module: qom module support"), which built on top of
module_load_one, but discarded the bool return value. Restore it.

Adapt all callers to emit errors, or ignore them, or fail hard,
as appropriate in each context.

Replace the previous emission of errors via fprintf in _some_ error
conditions with Error and error_report, so as to emit to the appropriate
target.

A memory leak is also fixed as part of the module_load changes.

audio: when attempting to load an audio module, report module load errors.
Note that still for some callers, a single issue may generate multiple
error reports, and this could be improved further.
Regarding the audio code itself, audio_add() seems to ignore errors,
and this should probably be improved.

block: when attempting to load a block module, report module load errors.
For the code paths that already use the Error API, take advantage of those
to report module load errors into the Error parameter.
For the other code paths, we currently emit the error, but this could be
improved further by adding Error parameters to all possible code paths.

console: when attempting to load a display module, report module load errors.

qdev: when creating a new qdev Device object (DeviceState), report load errors.
      If a module cannot be loaded to create that device, now abort execution
      (if no CONFIG_MODULE) or exit (if CONFIG_MODULE).

qom/object.c: when initializing a QOM object, or looking up class_by_name,
              report module load errors.

qtest: when processing the "module_load" qtest command, report errors
       in the load of the module.

thread before the Cocoa event loop starts. The secondary thread only
runs only qemu_main_loop() and qemu_cleanup().

This fixes a case where addRemovableDevicesMenuItems() calls
qmp_query_block() while expecting the main thread to still hold
the BQL.

Overriding the code after calling qemu_init() is done by dynamically
replacing a function pointer variable, qemu_main when initializing
ui/cocoa, which unifies the static implementation of main() for
builds with ui/cocoa and ones without ui/cocoa.

        static bool switched_to_fullscreen = false;

    1 warning generated.

I think the behavior is fine if you remove "switched_to_fullscreen", I can
still switch in and out of mouse grabbed mode and fullscreen mode with this
change, and Command keycodes will only be passed to the guest if the mouse
is grabbed, which I think is the right behavior. I'm not sure why a static
piece of state was needed to handle that in the first place. Perhaps the
refactoring of the flags-state-change fixed that by toggling the Command
keycode on.

I tested this with an Ubuntu core image on macOS 12.4

aeffd071ed ui: Deliver refresh rate via QemuUIInfo
This change adds a new member, refresh_rate to QemuUIInfo in
include/ui/console.h. It represents the refresh rate of the
physical display backend, and it is more appropriate than
GUI update interval as the refresh rate which the emulated device
reports:
- sdl may set GUI update interval shorter than the refresh rate
  of the physical display to respond to user-generated events.
- sdl and vnc aggressively changes GUI update interval, but
  a guests is typically not designed to respond to frequent
  refresh rate changes, or frequent "display mode" changes in
  general. The frequency of refresh rate changes of the physical
  display backend matches better to the guest's expectation.

QemuUIInfo also has other members representing "display mode",
which makes it suitable for refresh rate representation. It has
a throttling of update notifications, and prevents frequent changes
of the display mode.

09053670c9 ui/gtk-gl-area: create the requested GL context version
Since about 2018 virglrenderer (commit fa835b0f88 "vrend: don't
hardcode context version") tries to open the highest available GL
context version. This is done by creating the known GL context
versions from the highest to the lowest until (*create_gl_context)
returns a context != NULL.

This does not work properly with
the current QEMU gd_gl_area_create_context() function, because
gdk_gl_context_realize() on Wayland creates a version 3.0 legacy
context if the requested GL context version can't be created.

In order for virglrenderer to find the highest available GL
context version, return NULL if the created context version is
lower than the requested version.

This fixes the following error:
QEMU started with -device virtio-vga-gl -display gtk,gl=on.
Under Wayland, the guest window remains black and the following
information can be seen on the host.

gl_version 30 - compat profile
(qemu:5978): Gdk-WARNING **: 16:19:01.533:

  gdk_gl_context_set_required_version -
  GL context versions less than 3.2 are not supported.
vrend_renderer_fill_caps: Entering with stale GL error: 1282

To reproduce this error, an OpenGL driver is required on the host
that doesn't have the latest OpenGL extensions fully implemented.
An example for this is the Intel i965 driver on a Haswell processor.

The "-display sdl" option still uses a hand-crafted parser for its

This introduces the new "DisplaySDL" QAPI struct that is used to hold

d708f99d85 ui/vnc: refactor arrays of addresses to SocketAddressList
Let's use SocketAddressList instead of dynamic arrays.
Benefits:
 - Automatic cleanup: don't need specific freeing function and drop
   some gotos.
 - Less indirection: no triple asterix anymore!
 - Prepare for the following commit, which will reuse new interface of
   vnc_display_listen().

9a0a119a38 Added parameter to take screenshot with screendump as PNG
Currently screendump only supports PPM format, which is un-compressed. Added
a "format" parameter to QMP and HMP screendump command to support PNG image
capture using libpng.

QMP example usage:
{ "execute": "screendump", "arguments": { "filename": "/tmp/image",
"format":"png" } }

HMP example usage:
screendump /tmp/image -f png

95f8510ef4 Replacing CONFIG_VNC_PNG with CONFIG_PNG
Libpng is only detected if VNC is enabled currently. This patch adds a
generalised png option in the meson build which is aimed to replace use of
CONFIG_VNC_PNG with CONFIG_PNG.

80dd5aff1b block: add 'force' parameter to 'blockdev-change-medium' command
'blockdev-change-medium' is a convinient wrapper for the following
sequence of commands:
 * blockdev-open-tray
 * blockdev-remove-medium
 * blockdev-insert-medium
 * blockdev-close-tray
and should be used f.e. to change ISO image inside the CD-ROM tray.
Though the guest could lock the tray and some linux guests like
CentOS 8.5 actually does that. In this case the execution if this
command results in the error like the following:
  Device 'scsi0-0-1-0' is locked and force was not specified,
  wait for tray to open and try again.

This situation is could be resolved 'blockdev-open-tray' by passing
flag 'force' inside. Thus is seems reasonable to add the same
capability for 'blockdev-change-medium' too.
