It probably lacks some details but is a start at least.

44a4e34d52 docs: remove doxygen support
It seems building the doxygen docs has bit-rotted over time, and now
generates a set of empty modules, apart from some basic descriptions.

Since Mesa is mostly implementing externally documented APIs, I don't
think it makes a whole lot of sense trying to fix this, and I think the
presence of these files might confuse users who try them out.

So let's just get rid of this.

48d48fbf3c docs/lima: add an initial page for Lima
This is a cleaned up and updated version of the readme page for Lima
that was until now being maintained separately.
Let's move it in-tree so it is maintained along with the pages for
other similar drivers.

893a30eacc docs: inline contents.rst into index.rst
The idea of having a single file containing the ToC is not really how
things are done in Sphinx, and kinda makes it harder to structure
documentation more naturally. This was just something I did to mirror
what we used to do for the old HTML-only version of the docs, to ease
the transition and to de-clutter index.rst.

Now that the transition is far behind us, and index.rst is much cleaner,
we can finally start inlining this.

In the long run, I expect most of these to be moved to separate "chapter
articles" that summarize what these topics are, and thus disappear from
here.

7f155a6da3 docs: do not explicitly call out es-versions
There's no reason to explicitly call out GL ES versions here, as these
are all major versions there are, and it's very unlikely that more
versions will emerge.

7b54772d53 docs: use external link-references
The rST code here is much more to the point and easy to read if we
define the links as external link-references instead of inlining them.

This will make the next few patches much easier to grok.

2f9e27cc1a docs: move major versions history out of front-page
The features added in each major version is also unlikely the first things
someone wants to know about Mesa. So let's move this into the
versions.rst article.

This documentation is severely out of date anyway, and as it doesn't
seem like anyone is interested in documenting this any more, we should
probably consider driopping versions.rst entirely in the longer run.

But for now, this makes the front-page much more approachable.

0b4f5121f0 docs: drop news in favour of the introduction as index-page
This kind of only makes sense once we have a separate home-page. But I
think this is a good way of showing why we should do this; Sphinx
doesn't support pagination, because it's not meant as a general-purpose
website framewrork. And for documentation, pagination is not really
something you need.

There's probably a lot more pages that should be moved into a separate
webpage, similar to this. In general, I think this should be done for
pages that don't relate to the source code too much, e.g isn't needed to
understand the code, or for instance explains how to get the source code.
