Merge branch 'ds/partial-clone-fixes'

Fix for a bug revealed by a recent change to make the protocol v2
the default.

* ds/partial-clone-fixes:
  partial-clone: avoid fetching when looking for objects
  partial-clone: demonstrate bugs in partial fetch
