The FTP protocol is getting long in the tooth, and we should emphasize
HTTPS where that is available. This patch changes various gcc.gnu.org
URL's to instead use HTTPS.
For instance, kernel.org shut down FTP access in 2017, with the
explanation:
- The protocol is inefficient and requires adding awkward kludges to
firewalls and load-balancing daemons
- FTP servers have no support for caching or accelerators, which has
significant performance impacts
- Most software implementations have stagnated and see infrequent
updates

In previous standards it is undefined for a container and its allocator
to have a different value_type. Libstdc++ has traditionally allowed it
as an extension, automatically rebinding the allocator to the
container's value_type. Since GCC 8.1 that extension has been disabled
for C++11 and later when __STRICT_ANSI__ is defined (i.e. for
-std=c++11, -std=c++14, -std=c++17 and -std=c++2a).
Since the acceptance of P1463R1 into the C++2a draft an incorrect
allocator::value_type now requires a diagnostic. This patch implements

Add support for additional sources of randomness to std::random_device,
to allow using RDSEED for Intel CPUs and rand_s for Windows. When
supported these can be selected using the tokens "rdseed" and "rand_s".
For *-w64-mingw32 targets the "default" token will now use rand_s, and
for other i?86-*-* and x86_64-*-* targets it will try to use "rdseed"
first, then "rdrand", and finally "/dev/urandom".
To simplify the declaration of std::random_device in <bits/random.h> the
constructors now unconditionally call _M_init instead of _M_init_pretr1,
and the function call operator now unconditionally calls _M_getval. The
library code now decides whether _M_init and _M_getval should use a real
source of randomness or the mt19937 engine.
Existing code compiled against old libstdc++ headers will still call
_M_init_pretr1 and _M_getval_pretr1, but those functions now forward to
_M_init and _M_getval if a real source of randomness is available. This
means existing code compiled for mingw-w64 will start to use rand_s just
by linking to a new libstdc++.dll.

The GROUP_NESTED_COMPOUNDS option means that types nested inside inline
namespaces or other classes will be automatically added to a Doxygen
group, e.g. this actually works as intended:
/**
* @defgroup chrono Time
* @ingroup utilities
*
* Classes and functions for time.
* @{
*/
namespace chrono
{
template<typename _Rep, typename _Period = ratio<1>>
struct duration;
template<typename _Clock, typename _Dur = typename _Clock::duration>
struct time_point;
}
/// @}
Currently chrono::duration and chrono::time_point are not added to the
"chrono" group. They would need an explicit @ingroup tag added to them
individually. With GROUP_NESTED_COMPOUNDS=YES they get added to the
enclosing group.
The SORT_BY_SCOPE_NAME option means that the list of classes will sort
by class name, not the full qualified-id. Currently the alphabetical
Class List for classes beginning with 'c' looks like:
char_traits (__gnu_cxx)
character (__gnu_cxx)
condition_base (__gnu_cxx)
const_iterator_
condition_variable_any (std::_V2)
cauchy_distribution (std)
char_traits (std)
i.e. the list is sorted by the namespaces first, then the class names.
This is not helpful when you don't know which namespace a class might be
in, and inline namespaces with reserved names are not hidden (see
https://github.com/doxygen/doxygen/issues/5914 for a feature request to
allow that).
With SORT_BY_SCOPE_NAME=NO the list looks like:
cauchy_distribution (std)
char_traits (__gnu_cxx)
char_traits (std)
character (__gnu_cxx)
condition_base (__gnu_cxx)
condition_variable_any (std::_V2)
const_iterator_
This allows you to find a class by name more easily.

Certain broken versions of xsltproc ignore the --nonet option and will
attempt to fetch the docbook stylesheet from the WWW when it isn't in
the local XML catalog.
This patch checks for the local stylesheet directory first, and doesn't
use xsltproc if no local stylesheets are found. Checking for the local
directory is done using xmlcatalog if available, only checking the
hardcoded list of directories if xmlcatalog fails. The right directory
for Suse is added to the hardcoded list.
This should avoid doing an xsltproc check that would need to download
the stylesheet, so no network connection is made even if a broken

Because uses-allocator construction is invariably done with a const
lvalue the __uses_alloc helper should use a const lvalue for the
is_constructible checks. Otherwise, it can detect that the type can be
constructed from an rvalue, and then an error happens when a const
lvalue is passed to the constructor instead.
Prior to LWG DR 2586 scoped_allocator_adaptor incorrectly used an rvalue
type in the is_constructible check and then used a non-const lvalue for
the actual construction. The other components using uses-allocator
construction (tuple and polymorphic_allocator) have always done so with
a const lvalue allocator, although the use of __use_alloc in our
implementation meant they behaved the same as scoped_allocator_adaptor
and incorrectly used rvalues for the is_constructible checks.
In C++20 the P0591R4 changes mean that all uses-allocator construction
is defined in terms of the new uses_allocator_construction_args
functions, which always use a const lvalue allocator.
The changes in this patch ensure that the __use_alloc helper correctly
matches the requirements in the standard, consistently using a const
lvalue allocator for the is_constructible checks and the actual
constructor arguments.

This resolves a longstanding issue where the lock policy for shared_ptr
reference counting depends on compilation options when the header is
included, so that different -march options can cause ABI changes. For
example, objects compiled with -march=armv7 will use atomics to
synchronize reference counts, and objects compiled with -march=armv5t
will use a mutex. That means the shared_ptr control block will have a
different layout in different objects, causing ODR violations and
undefined behaviour. This was the root cause of PR libstdc++/42734 as
well as PR libstdc++/67843.
The solution is to decide on the lock policy at build time, when
libstdc++ is configured. The configure script checks for the
availability of the necessary atomic built-ins for the target and fixes
that choice permanently. Different -march flags used to compile user
code will not cause changes to the lock policy. This results in an ABI
change for certain compilations, but only where there was already an ABI
incompatibility between the libstdc++.so library and objects built with
an incompatible -march option. In general, this means a more stable ABI
that isn't silently altered when -march flags make addition atomic ops
available.
To force a target to use "atomic" or "mutex" the new configure option
--with-libstdcxx-lock-policy can be used.
In order to turn ODR violations into linker errors, the uses of
shared_ptr in filesystem directory iterators have been replaced
with __shared_ptr, and explicit instantiations are declared. This
ensures that object files using those types cannot link to libstdc++
libs unless they use the same lock policy.

This patch updates GCC to use autoconf 2.69 and automake 1.15.1.
(That's not the latest automake version, but it's the one used by
binutils-gdb, with which consistency is desirable, and in any case
seems a useful incremental update that should make a future update to
1.16.1 easier.)
The changes are generally similar to the binutils-gdb ones, and are
copied from there where shared files and directories are involved
(there are some further changes to such shared directories, however,
which I'd expect to apply to binutils-gdb once this patch is in GCC).
Largely, obsolete AC_PREREQ calls are removed, while many
AC_LANG_SOURCE calls are added to avoid warnings from aclocal and
autoconf. Multilib support is no longer included in core automake,
meaning that multilib.am needs copying from automake's contrib
directory into the GCC source tree. Autoconf 2.69 has Go support, so
local copies of that support are removed. I hope the D support will
soon be submitted to upstream autoconf so the local copy of that can
be removed in a future update. Changes to how automake generates
runtest calls mean quotes are removed from RUNTEST definitions in five
lib*/testsuite/Makefile.am files (libatomic, libgomp, libitm,
libphobos, libvtv; some others have RUNTEST definitions without
quotes, which are still OK); libgo and libphobos also get
-Wno-override added to AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE so those overrides of RUNTEST
do not generate automake warnings.
Note that the regeneration did not include regeneration of
fixincludes/config.h.in (attempting such regeneration resulted in all
the USED_FOR_TARGET conditionals disappearing; and I don't see
anything in the fixincludes/ directory that would result in such
conditionals being generated, unlike in the gcc/ directory). Also
note that libvtv/testsuite/other-tests/Makefile.in was not
regenerated; that directory is not listed as a subdirectory for which
Makefile.in gets regenerated by calling "automake" in libvtv/, so I'm
not sure how it's meant to be regenerated.
While I mostly fixed warnings should running aclocal / automake /
autoconf, there were various such warnings from automake in the
libgfortran, libgo, libgomp, liboffloadmic, libsanitizer, libphobos
directories that I did not fix, preferring to leave those to the
relevant subsystem maintainers. Specifically, most of those warnings
were of the following form (example from libgfortran):
Makefile.am:48: warning: source file 'caf/single.c' is in a subdirectory,
Makefile.am:48: but option 'subdir-objects' is disabled
automake: warning: possible forward-incompatibility.
automake: At least a source file is in a subdirectory, but the 'subdir-objects'
automake: automake option hasn't been enabled. For now, the corresponding output
automake: object file(s) will be placed in the top-level directory. However,
automake: this behaviour will change in future Automake versions: they
will
automake: unconditionally cause object files to be placed in the same subdirectory
automake: of the corresponding sources.
automake: You are advised to start using 'subdir-objects' option throughout your
automake: project, to avoid future incompatibilities.
I think it's best for the relevant maintainers to add subdir-objects
and do any other associated Makefile.am changes needed. In some cases
the paths in the warnings involved ../; I don't know if that adds any
extra complications to the use of subdir-objects.
I've tested this with native, cross and Canadian cross builds. The
risk of any OS-specific issues should I hope be rather lower than if a
libtool upgrade were included (we *should* do such an upgrade at some
point, but it's more complicated - it involves identifying all our
local libtool changes to see if any aren't included in the upstream
version we update to, and reverting an upstream libtool patch that's
inappropriate for use in GCC); I think it would be better to get this
update into GCC so that people can test in different configurations
and we can fix any issues found, rather than to try to get more and
more testing done before it goes in.

As discussed in PR c++/80265 ("__builtin_{memcmp,memchr,strlen} are
not usable in constexpr functions"), use __builtin_constant_p to tell
whether we can defer to a constexpr algorithm.
I used __always_inline__ just to be thorough. It isn't really really
necessary as far as I could determine.
Changes like these:
if (__n == 0)
return 0;
- return wmemcmp(__s1, __s2, __n);
+ else
+ return wmemcmp(__s1, __s2, __n);
are necessary otherwise G++ complains that we're calling a
non-constexpr function, which looks like a a manifestation of PR67026
to me.
