Re-implement ia64-linux-nat.c::ia64_linux_xfer_partial
[description of this patch and ChangeLog entry by Joel Brobecker]
The recent implementation was questionable, and if it worked, it was
only by chance because the requested length is large enough that only
one read was sufficient. Note that the implementation before that
also made that assumption, in the form of only handling
TARGET_OBJECT_UNWIND_TABLE xfer requests when offset was zero.

Adjust ia64_linux_xfer_partial following to_xfer_partial API change.
ia64-linux-nat.c no longer compiles because ia64_linux_xfer_partial
no longer matches the to_xfer_partial prototype. This patch fixes
the problem by adjusting it accordingly.

* ia64-linux-nat.c (ia64_linux_xfer_partial): Add function
documentation. Adjust prototype to match the target_ops

add "this" pointers to more target APIs
A subsequent pass introduces delegation helper functions to the target API. This delegation is much cleaner if the target_ops pointer is directly available at delegation time. This patch adds the "this" pointer to various to_* methods for this purpose. This updates a number of ports which I am unable to test. Please give them a look-over. Add target_xfer_partial_ftype
This patch adds a typedef target_xfer_partial_ftype. When we change the signature of xfer_partial functions (for example, adding a new parameter), we don't have to modify all of their declarations. [ia64-linux] Allow libunwind to fetch register 0
On ia64-linux, GDB sometimes prints the following error when trying
to switch to a different task:
(gdb) task 3
Register 0 is not available
This is a random failure that sometimes happens, sometimes does not.
The error comes from the fact that the libunwind library is requesting
the value of register 0 (zero): This eventually leads us to
ia64-linux-nat.c:ia64_linux_fetch_register.
This function relies on ia64_cannot_fetch_register to determine
whether or not we have access to the register's value. The ptrace
interface does not provide the r0 value, and so we end up telling
the regcache that this register's value is not available. And yet,
for r0, we do not need to ask ptrace for its value, since it is
always zero.
So, the fix was to add a special rule for supplying a nul value
when regnum == IA64_GR0_REGNUM.
