The ghes_edac driver was introduced in 2013 [1], but it has not been enabled by any distro yet. This driver obtains error info from firmware interfaces (APEI), which are not properly implemented on many platforms, as the driver says on load: This EDAC driver relies on BIOS to enumerate memory and get error reports. Unfortunately, not all BIOSes reflect the memory layout correctly. So, the end result of using this driver varies from vendor to vendor. If you find incorrect reports, please contact your hardware vendor to correct its BIOS. To get out from this situation, add a platform check to selectively enable the driver on platforms that are known to have proper APEI firmware implementation. "ghes_edac.force_load=1" skips this platform check. Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
