Code in prep_compound_gigantic_page waits for a rcu grace period if it notices a temporarily inflated ref count on a tail page. This was due to the identified potential race with speculative page cache references which could only last for a rcu grace period. This is overly complicated as this situation is VERY unlikely to ever happen. Instead, just quickly return an error. Also, only print a warning in prep_compound_gigantic_page instead of multiple callers. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
