f2fs update for 6.6-rc1
In this cycle, we don't have a highlighted feature enhancement, but mostly have fixed issues mainly in two parts: 1) zoned block device, 2) compression support. For zoned block device, we've tried to improve the power-off recovery flow as much as possible. For compression, we found some corner cases caused by wrong compression policy and logics. Other than them, there were some reverts and stat corrections. Bug fix: - use finish zone command when closing a zone - check zone type before sending async reset zone command - fix to assign compress_level for lz4 correctly - fix error path of f2fs_submit_page_read() - don't {,de}compress non-full cluster - send small discard commands during checkpoint back - flush inode if atomic file is aborted - correct to account gc/cp stats And, there are minor bug fixes, avoiding false lockdep warning, and clean-ups. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAABCgAdFiEE00UqedjCtOrGVvQiQBSofoJIUNIFAmTyemoACgkQQBSofoJI UNLLKQ//bupYGPOqAgKbd/s7FhtULMiiRmFVy7W2eoMIc/oeeXOGrzDAF/1NifLC WLV4uBNVTS4PS8D1vRzxZNEZt9aqPS0vQ8hxW/3nTI9Z425NX3nz7gLSxxmwIkIe xj++V6tvKPcCH0BfKvfFCtcxj09PsflgdEuT8w/sIkH6p4o+VEMFs1Lc9PQsjUmh epznK7JGBwpAxmHqI74n1eAw2CI6W+oKx23YDTNMBD6hmXTU0fkTeBURrOlSsUHZ nhafPecsrCEI+OpAj03G/7e/zt+iTUKdmHx9O5ir/P00vF/c+SU2vSwB97FiHqBi B4UmocTM0MAsU80PQcmE6aU3zgQFI0Yun5yZ24VeWjKTu76ssZSmT2HA/4RL+LLf AeAW4FSyfh76pls8X5IWfilxGLWq6kTzSZA0MF7dH2q7qlj5apL5wKpm/XH6POqn qELY/Y9+P1QuCcNL8BiYrgA5xBqVJ7Uw/6/6U3Y77PElc+Pwl3vI8UZ7uCOBrsXL e0TLXy23AJA6AS2DyLLziy669nXAZRb95B8TWMfEeVZIMFvCeeqYc74N8jOFa0T8 q6uQFZs+0cETLZA8MSZdlNhzvhJmbW6wgSIz++CEdikWSLBZMKWxBVjCPkkCY9uc DMh8zruSVbYPZWBTcxkMFEBJKKrU43++e7pb8ZoqTj4Pq1317b0= =Qa8+ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'f2fs-for-6-6-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jaegeuk/f2fs Pull f2fs updates from Jaegeuk Kim: "In this cycle, we don't have a highlighted feature enhancement, but mostly have fixed issues mainly in two parts: 1) zoned block device, and 2) compression support. Documentation work keeps chugging along; stuff for 6.6 includes:
- Work from Carlos Bilbao to integrate rustdoc output into the generated HTML documentation. This took some work to figure out how to do it without slowing the docs build and without creating people who don't have Rust installed, but Carlos got there. - Move the loongarch and mips architecture documentation under Documentation/arch/. - Some more maintainer documentation from Jakub ...plus the usual assortment of updates, translations, and fixes. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQFDBAABCAAtFiEEIw+MvkEiF49krdp9F0NaE2wMflgFAmTvqNkPHGNvcmJldEBs d24ubmV0AAoJEBdDWhNsDH5YgIgH/3drfLtlFtzLqDOzrzDXS8yGnE3pPdxw796b /ZFzAK16wYKaKevYoIz8bVGGKaE1sEUW0mhlq4KGdfZuxLG8YnWS8URyCW4FDU2E 6qNL+8oJ8LZfID46f9Q8ZgfEz7yF/mhCqPk7MEswYtwbscs2ZTGCTGYB/5BHlBuT LR+M89uLmHgr8S1o24v30OgiX+VvQFyu0xoxIhbiqUZvBd/XdfX2pgYd9BGzMj5q C2ZP+V14g36c5pV0EO9TwhCXOF/WVrp7DbjbfWAsqBSLxvpXPydH2q1DUzGeQtP1 exujrBD1O8q3pPdaNA5R+h6cWlHmUZug9mE4BRLp9ErGrozwJsQ= =C3Uv -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'docs-6.6' of git://git.lwn.net/linux Pull documentation updates from Jonathan Corbet: "Documentation work keeps chugging along; this includes: - Work from Carlos Bilbao to integrate rustdoc output into the generated HTML documentation. ARM: SoC drivers for 6.6
The main change this time is the introduction of the drivers/genpd subsystem that gets split out from drivers/soc to keep common functionality together. Ulf Hansson is taking over maintainership for these and is sending a separate pull request with the same commits, but they are in the soc drivers tree to avoid conflicts against other soc driver patches. The SCMI driver subsystem gets an update to version 3.2 of the specification. There are also updates to memory, reset and other firmware drivers. On the soc driver side, the updates are mostly cleanups across a number of Arm platforms. On driver for loongarch adds power management for DT based systems, another driver is for HiSilicon's Arm server chips with their HCCS system health interface. The remaining updates for the most part add support for additional hardware in existing drivers or contain minor cleanups. Most of these are for the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAABCgAdFiEEiK/NIGsWEZVxh/FrYKtH/8kJUicFAmTuWdMACgkQYKtH/8kJ UicprBAAsvZ5h636MOwYasgK1bKnsWgj9yrBSzIf7VzKbBS5/QCrDSDek9oDvTBp p6Rr+WC1RQl9i2DiRVSbEqkUS6X4hQF0kJdLudBwYuxBDf8ayzFzKAKk/ecsyoaC 0Rkeh4fCu1zVnQ2DZSPFJVRl01/oCr1ZtJ1W0UrXCslOSQy2987VqpJ/EQbaDLgb 3imxpvJNBscaKwcYRgxhcIMBLdGi3qXRE/TmAf1WMe8w6dfk5KmFiPPD7zxPTnFb 0fssdxgocjOkXEn6L1VdBMoTt4UQaU+xbnFsOsDA/F0EjR9ZLlhtwZxANv4GicP6 52FMFaxeXSUnpBelzuyRQpgnt9WW3ZbBGb9iaisTl1pwjC3PcN2noo8uFZk+kO6b 8q0fh4KVmD0QIupC4cfTsF4SGAQvnhko2ls9bt4FTF+z0COV3Ifs2cAggH+hn3yD IziBrUUZrR4G8XhisJRQNZcRh1H/vVchcumqsxzCMhpXLWwdZ5vW85GCR/fAtQQT woYgqFHXZjEko66bu2dtayr1dgmPvfbO6rXpUkIdeskY6XuKfZXuB93LkhsZ17LY dfAaBLUebjMcpLrltCqyP1tUoqGyVOTJKxtB2MolHo/V/2JbKYmYHAMy+qX5I0Qm UUbQDpHnkaQMTK2L/qvdfE4lgwWfFWX7lCK/AGa4ZBFl+Zl6DgE= =xmHW -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'soc-drivers-6.6' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/soc/soc Pull ARM SoC driver updates from Arnd Bergmann: "The main change this time was the introduction of the drivers/genpd subsystem that gets split out from drivers/soc to keep common functionality together. Updates for the CPU hotplug core:
- Support partial SMT enablement. So far the sysfs SMT control only allows to toggle between SMT on and off. That's sufficient for x86 which usually has at max two threads except for the Xeon PHI platform which has four threads per core. Though PowerPC has up to 16 threads per core and so far it's only possible to control the number of enabled threads per core via a command line option. There is some way to control this at runtime, but that lacks enforcement and the usability is awkward. This update expands the sysfs interface and the core infrastructure to accept numerical values so PowerPC can build SMT runtime control for partial SMT enablement on top. The core support has also been provided to the PowerPC maintainers who added the PowerPC related changes on top. - Minor cleanups and documentation updates. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQJHBAABCgAxFiEEQp8+kY+LLUocC4bMphj1TA10mKEFAmTsj4wTHHRnbHhAbGlu dXRyb25peC5kZQAKCRCmGPVMDXSYoaszEADKMd/6m7/Bq7RU2OJ+IXw8yfMEF9nS 6HPrFu71a4cDufb/G8UckQOvkwdTFWD7bZ0snJe2sBDFTOtzK/inYkgPZTxlm7si JcJmFnHKUM7OTwNZb7Tv1bd9Csz4JhggAYUw6P8CqsCmhQ+p6ECemx3bHDlYiywm 5eW2yzI9EM4dbsHPwUOvjI0WazGvAf0esSDAS8JTnhBXbd8FAckbMV+xuRPcCUK+ dBqbqr+3Nf4/wcXTro/gZIc7sEATAHH6m7zHlLVBSyVPnBxre8NLz6KciW4SezyJ GWFnDV03mmG2KxQ2ugwI8n6M3zDJQtfEJFwW/x4t2M5RK+ka2a6G6GtCLHYOXLWR akIuBXtTAC57BgpqzBihGej9eiC1BJ1QMa9ZK+6WDXSZtMTFOLlbwdY2/qyfxpfw LfepWb+UMtFy5YyW84S1O5/AqpOtKD2kPTqfDjvDxWIAigispU+qwAKxcMzMjtwz aAlf2Z/iX0R9DkRzGD2gaFG5AUsRich8RtVO7u+WDwYSsi8ywrvryiPlZrDDBkSQ sRzdoHeXNGVY/FgkbZmEyBj4udrypymkR6ivqn6C2OrysgznSiv5NC983uS6TfJX cVqdUv6CNYYNiNu0x0Qf0MluYT2s5c1Fa4bjCBJL+KwORwjM3+TCN9RA1KtFrW2T G3Ta1KqI6wRonA== =JQRJ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'smp-core-2023-08-28' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip Pull CPU hotplug updates from Thomas Gleixner: "Updates for the CPU hotplug core: - Support partial SMT enablement. crash: memory and CPU hotplug sysfs attributes
Introduce the crash_hotplug attribute for memory and CPUs for use by userspace. These attributes directly facilitate the udev rule for managing userspace re-loading of the crash kernel upon hot un/plug changes. For memory, expose the crash_hotplug attribute to the /sys/devices/system/memory directory. For example: # udevadm info --attribute-walk /sys/devices/system/memory/memory81 looking at device '/devices/system/memory/memory81': KERNEL=="memory81" SUBSYSTEM=="memory" DRIVER=="" ATTR{online}=="1" ATTR{phys_device}=="0" ATTR{phys_index}=="00000051" ATTR{removable}=="1" ATTR{state}=="online" ATTR{valid_zones}=="Movable" looking at parent device '/devices/system/memory': KERNELS=="memory" SUBSYSTEMS=="" DRIVERS=="" ATTRS{auto_online_blocks}=="offline" ATTRS{block_size_bytes}=="8000000" ATTRS{crash_hotplug}=="1" For CPUs, expose the crash_hotplug attribute to the /sys/devices/system/cpu directory. For example: # udevadm info --attribute-walk /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0 looking at device '/devices/system/cpu/cpu0': KERNEL=="cpu0" SUBSYSTEM=="cpu" DRIVER=="processor" ATTR{crash_notes}=="277c38600" ATTR{crash_notes_size}=="368" ATTR{online}=="1" looking at parent device '/devices/system/cpu': KERNELS=="cpu" SUBSYSTEMS=="" DRIVERS=="" ATTRS{crash_hotplug}=="1" ATTRS{isolated}=="" ATTRS{kernel_max}=="8191" ATTRS{nohz_full}==" (null)" ATTRS{offline}=="4-7" ATTRS{online}=="0-3" ATTRS{possible}=="0-7" ATTRS{present}=="0-3" With these sysfs attributes in place, it is possible to efficiently instruct the udev rule to skip crash kernel reloading for kernels configured with crash hotplug support. For example, the following is the proposed udev rule change for RHEL system 98-kexec.rules (as the first lines of the rule file): # The kernel updates the crash elfcorehdr for CPU and memory changes SUBSYSTEM=="cpu", ATTRS{crash_hotplug}=="1", GOTO="kdump_reload_end" SUBSYSTEM=="memory", ATTRS{crash_hotplug}=="1", GOTO="kdump_reload_end" When examined in the context of 98-kexec.rules, the above rules test if crash_hotplug is set, and if so, the userspace initiated unload-then-reload of the crash kernel is skipped. CPU and memory checks are separated in accordance with CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU and CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG kernel config options. If an architecture supports, for example, memory hotplug but not CPU hotplug, then the /sys/devices/system/memory/crash_hotplug attribute file is present, but the /sys/devices/system/cpu/crash_hotplug attribute file will NOT be present. Thus the udev rule skips userspace processing of memory hot un/plug events, but the udev rule will evaluate false for CPU events, thus allowing userspace to process CPU hot un/plug events (ie the unload-then-reload of the kdump capture kernel). 1st set of IIO new device support, features and cleanup for 6.6
New device support * adi,ad8366 - Add support for the HMC792 digital attenuator (mostly chip specific data) * alwinner,sun20i-gpadc - New driver for the integrated ADC on a number of allwinner SoCs including dt-binding documentation. * microchip,mcp4728 - New driver for this quad channel DAC. Includes dt-bindings. * miramems, da280 - Add ID for DA217 accelerometer which is compatible with the da280. * murata,irs-d200 - New driver for this passive infrared sensor typically used for human detection. Includes bindings and a few pieces of new ABI to cover a case of needing to count a number of repeats of an event before reporting it. * rohm,bu27008 - Add initial support for the BU27010 RGB + flickering sensor to this driver. Substantial refactoring was needed to enable this. Features * adi,admv8818 - Add mode that bypasses the input and output filters. * amlogic, meson - Support control of the MUX on channel 7, exposed as multiple channels. - Support channel labels. * sensirion,scd4x - Add pressure compensation. Controlled via an 'output' pressure channel. * ti,lmp92040 - Add IIO buffered supported (read via chrdev). * vishay,vcnl4000 - Add proximity interrupt support for vcnl4200. - Add proximity integration time control for vcnl4200. - Add illuminance integration time control for vcnl4040 and vcnl4200. - Add calibration bias, proximity and illuminance event period, and oversampling ratio control for vcnl4040 and vncl4200.
