Adding userspace support for the MC (Management Complex) means exporting
an ioctl capable device file representing the root resource container.
This new functionality in the fsl-mc bus driver intends to provide
userspace applications an interface to interact with the MC firmware.
Commands that are composed in userspace are sent to the MC firmware
through the FSL_MC_SEND_MC_COMMAND ioctl. By default the implicit MC
I/O portal is used for this operation, but if the implicit one is busy,
a dynamic portal is allocated and then freed upon execution.
The command received through the ioctl interface is checked against a
known whitelist of accepted MC commands. Commands that attempt a change
in hardware configuration will need CAP_NET_ADMIN, while commands used
in debugging do not need it.

If controller driver has specified the irq_flags, mhi uses this specified
irq_flags. Otherwise, mhi uses default irq_flags.
The purpose of this change is to support one MSI vector for QCA6390.
MHI will use one same MSI vector too in this scenario.
In case of one MSI vector, IRQ_NO_BALANCING is needed when irq handler
is requested. The reason is if irq migration happens, the msi_data may
change too. However, the msi_data is already programmed to QCA6390
hardware during initialization phase. This msi_data inconsistence will
result in crash in kernel.
Another issue is in case of one MSI vector, IRQF_NO_SUSPEND will trigger
WARNINGS because QCA6390 wants to disable the IRQ during the suspend.
To avoid above two issues, QCA6390 driver specifies the irq_flags in case
of one MSI vector when mhi_register_controller is called.

The c6x architecture was added to the kernel in 2011 at a time when
running Linux on DSPs was widely seen as the logical evolution.
It appears the trend has gone back to running Linux on Arm based SoCs
with DSP, using a better supported software ecosystem, and having better
real-time behavior for the DSP code. An example of this is TI's own
Keystone2 platform.
The upstream kernel port appears to no longer have any users. Mark
Salter remained avaialable to review patches, but mentioned that
he no longer has access to working hardware himself. Without any
users, it's best to just remove the code completely to reduce the
work for cross-architecture code changes.
Many thanks to Mark for maintaining the code for the past ten years.

Every iteration of for_each_available_child_of_node() decrements
the reference count of the previous node, however when control is
transferred from the middle of the loop, as in the case of a return

a memory leak.
Fix a potential memory leak in arm-integrator-lm.c by inserting

After converting am335x to probe devices with simple-pm-bus I noticed
that we are not passing auxdata for of_platform_populate() like we do
with simple-bus.
While device tree using SoCs should no longer need platform data, there
are still quite a few drivers that still need it as can be seen with
git grep OF_DEV_AUXDATA. We want to have simple-pm-bus be usable as a
replacement for simple-bus also for cases where OF_DEV_AUXDATA is still
needed.
Let's fix the issue by passing auxdata as platform data to simple-pm-bus.
That way the SoCs needing this can pass the auxdata with OF_DEV_AUXDATA.
And let's pass the auxdata for omaps to fix the issue for am335x.
As an alternative solution, adding simple-pm-bus handling directly to
drivers/of/platform.c was considered, but we would still need simple-pm-bus
device driver. So passing auxdata as platform data seems like the simplest
solution.

This is up to the MHI controller driver to determine when this hard

a reset of last resort (after standard MHI stack reset).

Here is the MHI patch set for v5.11. Most of the patches are cleanups and fixes
but there are some noticeable changes too:
1. Loic finally removed the auto-start option from the channel parameters of the
MHI controller. It is the duty of the client drivers like qrtr to start/stop the
channels when required, so we decided to remove this option. As a side effect,
we changed the qrtr driver to start the channels during its probe and removed
the auto-start option from ath11k controller.
**NOTE** Since these changes spawns both MHI and networking trees, the patches
are maintained in an immutable branch [1] and pulled into both mhi-next and
ath11k-next branches. The networking patches got acks from ath11k and networking
maintainers as well.
2. Loic added a generic MHI pci controller driver. This driver will be used by
the PCI based Qualcomm modems like SDX55 and exposes channels such as QMI,
IP_HW0, IPCR etc...
3. Loic fixed the MHI device hierarchy by maintaining the correct parent child
relationships. Earlier all MHI devices lived in the same level under the parent
device like PCIe. But now, the MHI devices belonging to channels will become the
children of controller MHI device.
4. Finally Loic also improved the MHI device naming by using indexed names such
as mhi0, mhi1, etc... This will break the userspace applications depending on
the old naming convention but since the only one user so far is Jeff Hugo's AI
accelerator apps, we decided to make this change now itself with his agreement.
5. Bhaumik fixed the qrtr driver by stopping the channels during remove. This
patch also got ack from networking maintainer and we decided to take it through
MHI tree (via immutable branch) since we already had a qrtr change.

There are a few problems with the error handling in this function. They
mostly center around the alloc_ordered_workqueue() allocation.
1) If that allocation fails or if the kcalloc() prior to it fails then
it leads to a NULL dereference when we call
destroy_workqueue(mhi_cntrl->hiprio_wq).
2) The error code is not set.
3) The "mhi_cntrl->mhi_cmd" allocation is not freed.
The error handling was slightly confusing and I re-ordered it to be in
the exact mirror/reverse order of how things were allocated. I changed
the label names to say what the goto does instead of describing where
the goto comes from.

This patch fixes the hierarchical structure of MHI devices. Indeed,
MHI client devices are directly 'enumerated' from the mhi controller
and therefore must be direct descendants/children of their mhi
controller device, in accordance with the Linux Device Model.
Today both MHI clients and controller devices are at the same level,
this patch ensures that MHI controller is parent of its client devices.
The hierarchy is especially important for power management (safe
suspend/resume order). It is also useful for userspace to determine
relationship between MHI client devices and controllers.

Today the MHI controller name is simply cloned from the underlying
bus device (its parent), that gives the following device structure
for e.g. a MHI/PCI controller:
devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.2/0000:02:00.0/0000:02:00.0

...
That's quite misleading/confusing and can cause device registering
issues because of duplicate dev name (e.g. if a PCI device register
two different MHI instances).
This patch changes MHI core to create indexed mhi controller names
(mhi0, mhi1...) in the same way as other busses (i2c0, usb0...).
The previous example becomes:
devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.2/0000:02:00.0/mhi0
devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.2/0000:02:00.0/mhi0/mhi0_IPCR

While powering down, the device may or may not acknowledge an MHI
RESET issued by host for a graceful shutdown scenario and end up
sending an incoming data packet after tasklets have been killed.
If a rogue device sends this interrupt for a data transfer event

clean up is ongoing or has completed and cause access to freed
memory leading to a NULL pointer exception. Remove the interrupt

mhi_power_down() does not ensure that the PM state is moved to an
inaccessible state soon enough as the system can encounter
scheduling delays till mhi_pm_disable_transition() gets called.
Additionally, if an MHI controller decides that the device is now
inaccessible and issues a power down, the register inaccessible
state is not maintained by moving from MHI_PM_LD_ERR_FATAL_DETECT
to MHI_PM_SHUTDOWN_PROCESS. This can result in bus errors if a

the panic path, host must skip the RDDM download. This can happen
if the BHI offset read or the BHI_EXECENV register read fails
indicating that the underlying transport is unresponsive. Hence,
there is no need to trigger an RDDM using SYSERR or request an
SOC reset.

Some MHI device drivers need to stop the channels in their driver
remove callback (e.g. module unloading), but the unprepare function
is aborted because MHI core moved the channels to suspended state
prior calling driver remove callback. This prevents the driver to
send a proper MHI RESET CHAN command to the device. Device is then
unaware of the stopped state of these channels.
This causes issue when driver tries to start the channels again (e.g.
module is reloaded), since device considers channels as already
started (inconsistent state).
Fix this by allowing channel reset when channel is suspended.

warning on enable if the interconnect target module is not out of reset.
This caused the warning to be often triggered for i2c and hdq while the
devices are working properly.
Turns out that some interconnect target modules seem to have an unusable
reset status bits unless the module specific reset quirks are activated.
Let's just skip the reset status check for those modules as we only want
to activate the reset quirks when doing a reset, and not on enable. This
way we don't see the bogus "OCP softreset timed out" warnings during boot.

There is no requirement for using a dedicated IRQ per event ring.
Some systems does not support multiple MSI vectors (e.g. intel
without CONFIG_IRQ_REMAP), In that case the MHI controller can
configure all the event rings to use the same interrupt (as fallback).
Allow this by removing the nr_irqs = ev_ring test and add extra check
in the irq_setup function.

The DPRC driver is not taking into account the msi-map property
and assumes that the icid is the same as the stream ID. Although
this assumption is correct, generalize the code to include a
translation between icid and streamID.
Furthermore do not just copy the MSI domain from parent (for child
containers), but use the information provided by the msi-map property.
If the msi-map property is missing from the device tree retain the old
behaviour for backward compatibility ie the child DPRC objects
inherit the MSI domain from the parent.

Devices sitting on proprietary busses have a device ID space that
is owned by the respective bus and related firmware bindings. In order
to let the generic OF layer handle the input translations to
an IOMMU id, for such busses the current of_dma_configure() interface
should be extended in order to allow the bus layer to provide the
device input id parameter - that is retrieved/assigned in bus
specific code and firmware.
Augment of_dma_configure() to add an optional input_id parameter,
leaving current functionality unchanged.

Because the DPNIs are probed before DPMCPs and other objects that need
to be allocated, messages like "No more resources of type X left" are
printed by the fsl-mc bus driver. This patch resolves the issue by probing
the allocatable objects first and then any other object that may use
them.

Carlos Hernandez <ceh@ti.com> reported that we now have a suspend and
resume regresssion on am3 and am4 compared to the earlier kernels. While
suspend and resume works with v5.8-rc3, we now get errors with rtcwake:
pm33xx pm33xx: PM: Could not transition all powerdomains to target state
...
rtcwake: write error
This is because we now fail to idle the system timer clocks that the
idle code checks and the error gets propagated to the rtcwake.
Turns out there are several issues that need to be fixed:
1. Ignore no-idle and no-reset configured timers for the ti-sysc
interconnect target driver as otherwise it will keep the system timer
clocks enabled
2. Toggle the system timer functional clock for suspend for am3 and am4
(but not for clocksource on am3)
3. Only reconfigure type1 timers in dmtimer_systimer_disable()
4. Use of_machine_is_compatible() instead of of_device_is_compatible()
for checking the SoC type

The recent display subsystem (DSS) related platform data changes caused
display related regressions for suspend and resume. Looks like I only
tested suspend and resume before dropping the legacy platform data, and
forgot to test it after dropping it. Turns out the main issue was that
we no longer have platform code calling pm_runtime_suspend for DSS like
we did for the legacy platform data case, and that fix is still being
discussed on the dri-devel list and will get merged separately. The DSS
related testing exposed a pile other other display related issues that
also need fixing though:
- Fix ti-sysc optional clock handling and reset status checks
for devices that reset automatically in idle like DSS
- Ignore ti-sysc clockactivity bit unless separately requested
to avoid unexpected performance issues
- Init ti-sysc framedonetv_irq to true and disable for am4
- Avoid duplicate DSS reset for legacy mode with dts data
- Remove LCD timings for am4 as they cause warnings now that we're
using generic panels
Then there is a pile of other fixes not related to the DSS:
- Fix omap_prm reset deassert as we still have drivers setting the
pm_runtime_irq_safe() flag
- Flush posted write for ti-sysc enable and disable
- Fix droid4 spi related errors with spi flags
- Fix am335x USB range and a typo for softreset
- Fix dra7 timer nodes for clocks for IPU and DSP
- Drop duplicate mailboxes after mismerge for dra7

related testing exposed a pile other other display related issues that
also need fixing though:
- Fix ti-sysc optional clock handling and reset status checks
for devices that reset automatically in idle like DSS
- Ignore ti-sysc clockactivity bit unless separately requested
to avoid unexpected performance issues
- Init ti-sysc framedonetv_irq to true and disable for am4
- Avoid duplicate DSS reset for legacy mode with dts data
- Remove LCD timings for am4 as they cause warnings now that we're
using generic panels
Then there is a pile of other fixes not related to the DSS:
- Fix omap_prm reset deassert as we still have drivers setting the
pm_runtime_irq_safe() flag

One new platform gets added, the Realtek RTD1195, which is an older
Cortex-a7 based relative of the RTD12xx chips that are already supported
in arch/arm64. The platform may also be extended to support running
32-bit kernels on those 64-bit chips for memory-constrained machines.
In the Renesas shmobile platform, we gain support for "RZ/G1H" or R8A7742,
an eight-core chip based on Cortex-A15 and Cortex-A7 cores, originally
released in 2016 as one of the last high-end 32-bit designs.
There is ongoing cleanup for the integrator, tegra, imx, and omap2
platforms, with integrator getting very close to the goal of having
zero code in arch/arm/, and omap2 moving more of the chip specifics
from old board code into device tree files.
The Versatile Express platform is made more modular, with built-in
drivers now becoming loadable modules. This is part of a greater effort
for the Android OS to have a common kernel binary for all platforms and
any platform specific code in loadable modules.
The PXA platform drops support for Compulab's pxa2xx boards that had
rather unusual flash and PCI drivers but no known users remaining.
All device drivers specific to those boards can now get removed as
well.
Across platforms, there is ongoing cleanup, with Geert and Rob
revisiting some a lot of Kconfig options.

Some modules reset automatically when idled, and when re-enabled, we must
wait for the automatic OCP softreset to complete. And if optional clocks
are configured, we need to keep the clocks on while waiting for the reset
to complete.
Let's fix the issue by moving the OCP softreset code to a separate
function sysc_wait_softreset(), and call it also from sysc_enable_module()
with the optional clocks enabled.
This is based on what we're already doing for legacy platform data booting
in _enable_sysc().

Looks like we're missing flush of posted write after module enable and
disable. I've seen occasional errors accessing various modules, and it
is suspected that the lack of posted writes can also cause random reboots.
The errors we can see are similar to the one below from spi for example:
44000000.ocp:L3 Custom Error: MASTER MPU TARGET L4CFG (Read): Data Access
in User mode during Functional access
...
mcspi_wait_for_reg_bit
omap2_mcspi_transfer_one
spi_transfer_one_message
...
We also want to also flush posted write for disable. The clkctrl clock
disable happens after module disable, and we don't want to have the
module potentially stay active while we're trying to disable the clock.

Alas the method trigger_all_cpu_backtrace() isn't exported by the
kernel, but we need to have it called in case of the bus errors detected
to get a better description of a possible cause of the error. Let's
disable the ability to build the driver as a loadable kernel module then.
Note In future the driver will support the AXI-bus interconnect capability,
so we'd have to make it built into the kernel anyway.

There is a ready-to-use method to compare a retrieved from a sysfs node

equivalent string terminations. So use it instead of manually truncating
