As &info->lock is acquired by slgt_interrupt() under irq context, other
process context code acquiring the lock should disable irq, otherwise
deadlock could happen if the irq preempt the execution while the
lock is held in process context on the same CPU.
Lock acquisition inside set_params32() does not disable irq, and this
function is called by slgt_compat_ioctl() from process context.
Possible deadlock scenario:
slgt_compat_ioctl()
-> set_params32()
-> spin_lock(&info->lock)
<irq>
-> slgt_interrupt()
-> spin_lock(&info->lock); (deadlock here)
This flaw was found by an experimental static analysis tool I am developing
for irq-related deadlock. x86_64 allmodconfig using gcc shows no new
warning.
The patch fixes the potential deadlock by spin_lock_irqsave() like other
lock acquisition sites.

It makes the code more readable and less error-prone as the result is
returned and not stored in a variable newly defined inside the macro.
Note that cast to 'unsigned long' and back to 'void *' was eliminated as
info->reg_addr is 'char *' already (so the addition is per bytes

In synclinc_gt, the flag_buf is allocated, zeroed and passed to ldisc's
receive_buf(). It is never written to, so it serves as a dummy buffer.
That's unneeded because all ldiscs accept NULL as flags. That NULL
resolves to the TTY_NORMAL flag.
So drop all this nonsense.

Convert the raise/on parameter in ->dtr_rts() to bool through the

Zhengchao Shao <shaozhengchao@huawei.com> identified by inspection bugs in the error path of hdlcdev_open() in synclink_gt.c
The function did not fully unwind actions in the error path. The use of try_module_get()/module_put() is unnecessary, potentially hazardous and is removed. The synclink_gt driver is already pinned any point the net device is registered, a requirement for calling this entry point.
The call hdlc_open() to init the generic HDLC layer is moved to after driver level init/checks and proper rollback of previous actions is added. This is a more sensible ordering as the most common error paths are at the driver level and the driver level rollbacks require less processing than hdlc_open()/hdlc_close().
This has been tested with supported hardware.

alloc_tty_driver was deprecated by tty_alloc_driver in commit
7f0bc6a68e (TTY: pass flags to alloc_tty_driver) in 2012.
I never got into eliminating alloc_tty_driver until now. So we still
have two functions for allocating drivers which might be confusing. So
get rid of alloc_tty_driver uses to eliminate it for good in the next
patch.
Note we need to switch return value checking as tty_alloc_driver uses
ERR_PTR. And flags are now a parameter of tty_alloc_driver.

Group the flow flags under a single struct called flow. The new struct
contains 'stopped' and 'tco_stopped' bools which used to be bits in a
bitfield. The struct also contains the lock protecting them to
potentially share the same cache line.
Note that commit c545b66c69 (tty: Serialize tcflow() with other tty
flow control changes) added a padding to the original bitfield. It was
for the bitfield to occupy a whole 64b word to avoid interferring stores
on Alpha (cannot we evaporate this arch with weird implications to C
code yet?). But it doesn't work as expected as the padding
(tty_struct::unused) is aligned to a 8B boundary too and occupies some
bytes from the next word.
So make it reliable by:
1) setting __aligned of the struct -- that aligns the start, and
2) making 'unsigned long unused[0]' as the last member of the struct --
pads the end.
This is also the perfect time to start the documentation of tty_struct
where all this lives. So we start by documenting what these bools
actually serve for. And why we do all the alignment dances. Only the few
up-to-date information from the Theodore's comment made it into this new
Kerneldoc comment.

The variable count is being initialized with a value that is
never read and it is being updated later with a new value. The
initialization is redundant and can be removed.

Forward declarations make the code larger and rewrites harder. Harder as
they are often omitted from global changes. Remove forward declarations
which are not really needed, i.e. the definition of the function is
before its first use.

These drivers check tty_unregister_driver return value. But they don't
handle a failure correctly (they free the driver in any case). So stop
checking tty_unregister_driver return value and remove also the prints.
In the next patch, tty_unregister_driver's return type will be switched
to void.

The main purpose of tty_port::low_latency was removed in commit
a9c3f68f3c (tty: Fix low_latency BUG) back in 2014. It was left in
place for drivers as an optional tune knob. But only one driver has been
using it until the previous commit. So remove this misconcept
completely, given there are no users.

are mixed together. Convert to just using tabs to be consistent with the
Linux kernel coding style and eliminate these warnings from clang.

Now that the SPDX tag is in all tty files, that identifies the license
in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording
can be removed as it is no longer needed at all.
This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in
the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff
like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never
needed.
No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed.

It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to
audit the kernel tree for correct licenses.
Update the drivers/tty files files with the correct SPDX license
identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX
identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of
the full boiler plate text.
This work is based on a script and data from Thomas Gleixner, Philippe
Ombredanne, and Kate Stewart.
