The Venus clock frequencies are a copy/paste error from msm8916. Looking
at the original clock-gcc-8936.c ftbl_gcc_venus0_vcodec0_clk defines we
have:
- 133 MHz
- 200 MHz
- 266 MHz
These values are born out by the relevant qualcomm documentation for the
msm8936/msm8939 Venus core performance levels.

CONFIG_UML_PCI_OVER_VIRTIO=y is needed to enable CONFIG_PCI=y on UML.
However, this causes test failures when running the clk tests, i.e.
$ ./tools/testing/kunit/kunit.py run --kunitconfig=drivers/clk
A snippet of the particular error is:
> ok 1 - clk_gate_test_parent_rate
> ------------[ cut here ]------------
> WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 45 at lib/logic_iomem.c:141 __raw_readl+0x9f/0xd0
This is triggered by this cast in the test:
143 ctx->fake_mem = (void __force __iomem *)&ctx->fake_reg;
this seems to work except when logic iomem is enabled, i.e.
CONFIG_INDIRECT_IOMEM=y.
As a short-term fix, explicitly disable CONFIG_UML_PCI_OVER_VIRTIO in
drivers/clk/.kunitconfig so we can enable it for everyone else by
default in kunit.py.
The long-term fix probably requires something more complicated, like
#ifdef CONFIG_INDIRECT_IOMEM
logic_iomem_add_region(...);

Currently gcc-msm8960 driver manually creates tsens platform device
manually. It would be better to follow IPQ8064 approach, where tsens
device is defined as gcc's child device in the device tree. If nothing
else, it removes gcc's dependency on QFPROM, thus allowing clock
controller to be probed earlier.
Don't create it in case there are available child nodes (tsens) inside

msm8916 has (at least) 6 "General Purpose" clocks that can be muxed to
SoC pins. These clocks are:
GP_CLK{0, 1} : GPIO_{31, 32} (Belongs to CAMSS according to Linux)
GP_CLK_{1-3}{A, B} : GPIO_{49-51, 97, 12, 13} (Belongs to GCC itself)
GP_MN : GPIO_110 (Doesn't seem to be described in gcc,

Access to I/O of SM8250 camera clock controller IP depends on enabled
GCC_CAMERA_AHB_CLK clock supplied by global clock controller, the latter
one is inited on subsys level, so, to satisfy the dependency, it would
make sense to deprive the init level of camcc-sm8250 driver.
If both drivers are compiled as built-in, there is a change that a board
won't boot up due to a race, which happens on the same init level.

On recent Qualcomm platforms the QMP PIPE clocks feed into a set of
muxes which must be parked to the "safe" source (bi_tcxo) when
corresponding GDSC is turned off and on again. Currently this is
handcoded in the PCIe driver by reparenting the gcc_pipe_N_clk_src
clock. However the same code sequence should be applied in the
pcie-qcom endpoint, USB3 and UFS drivers.
Rather than copying this sequence over and over again, follow the
example of clk_rcg2_shared_ops and implement this parking in the
enable() and disable() clock operations. Supplement the regmap-mux with
the new clk_regmap_phy_mux type, which implements such multiplexers
as a simple gate clocks.
This is possible since each of these multiplexers has just two clock
sources: one coming from the PHY and a reference (XO) one. If the clock
is running off the from-PHY source, report it as enabled. Report it as
disabled otherwise (if it uses reference source).
This way the PHY will disable the pipe clock before turning off the
GDSC, which in turn would lead to disabling corresponding pipe_clk_src
(and thus it being parked to a safe, reference clock source). And vice
versa, after enabling the GDSC the PHY will enable the pipe clock, which
would cause pipe_clk_src to be switched from a safe source to the
working one.

There is a large number of mediatek infra reset bits, but we do not use
all of them. In addition, the proper input argement of reset controller
soulde be index.
Therefore, to be compatible with previous drivers and usage, we add
description variables to store the ids which can mapping to index.
To use this mode, we need to put the id in rst_idx_map to map from
index to ids. For example, if we want to input index 1 (this index
is used to set bank 1 bit 14) for svs, we need to declare the reset
controller like this:
In drivers:
static u16 rst_ofs[] = {
0x120, 0x130, 0x140, 0x150, 0x730,
};
static u16 rst_idx_map[] = {
0 * 32 + 0,
1 * 32 + 14,
....
};
static const struct mtk_clk_rst_desc clk_rst_desc = {
.version = MTK_RST_SET_CLR,
.rst_bank_ofs = rst_ofs,
.rst_bank_nr = ARRAY_SIZE(rst_ofs),
.rst_idx_map = rst_idx_map,
.rst_idx_map_nr = ARRAY_SIZE(rst_idx_map),
};

There are two versions for clock reset register control for MediaTek
SoCs. The old hardware is one bit per reset control, and does not
have separate registers for bit set, clear and read-back operations.
This matches the scheme supported by the simple reset driver.
However, because we need to use different data structure from
reset_simple_data, we can not use the operation of simple reset
driver.
For this reason, we keep the original functions and name this version
as "MTK_RST_SIMPLE".
In this patch:
- Add a version enumeration to separate different reset hardware.
- Merge the reset register function of simple and set_clr into one
function "mtk_register_reset_controller".
- Rename input variable "num_regs" to "rst_bank_nr" to avoid
confusion. This variable is used to define the quantity of reset bank.
- Document mtk_reset_version and mtk_register_reset_controller.

The def_bool y PMC_ATOM Kconfig option provides a couple of symbols used
by the code enabled by the X86_INTEL_LPSS option and it registers some
clocks. These clocks are only registered on Bay Trail, Cherry Trail and
Brasswell Intel SoCs and kernels targeting these SoCs must always have
the X86_INTEL_LPSS option enabled otherwise many things will not work.
Building the PMC_ATOM code on kernels which are not targeting the
mentioned SoCs and which do not have the X86_INTEL_LPSS enabled is
not useful.
This means that we can simplify things by replacing the PMC_ATOM Kconfig
option in Makefiles with X86_INTEL_LPSS and then drop the option.

As per RZ/G2L HW(Rev.1.10) manual, reset monitor register value 0 means
reset signal is not applied (deassert state) and 1 means reset signal
is applied (assert state).
reset_control_status() expects a positive value if the reset line is
asserted. But rzg2l_cpg_status function returns zero for asserted
state.
This patch fixes the issue by adding double inverted logic, so that
reset_control_status returns a positive value if the reset line is
asserted.

The ccu_clks arrays are used to link ccu_common objects to a platform
device during probe. There is no requirement that the clk_hw inside the
ccu_common object ever gets registered with the clock framework. So the
drivers do not need a separate ccu_clks array for each CCU variant.
A single array per driver, containing the union of the CCU clocks from
all variants, is sufficient.
Let's save some space by combining the ccu_clks arrays in each driver.

Here is the set of driver core changes for 5.19-rc1.
Note, I'm not really happy with this pull request as-is, see below for
details, but overall this is all good for everything but a small set of
systems, which we have a fix for already.
Lots of tiny driver core changes and cleanups happened this cycle,
but the two major things were:
- firmware_loader reorganization and additions including the
ability to have XZ compressed firmware images and the ability
for userspace to initiate the firmware load when it needs to,
instead of being always initiated by the kernel. FPGA devices
specifically want this ability to have their firmware changed
over the lifetime of the system boot, and this allows them to
work without having to come up with yet-another-custom-uapi
interface for loading firmware for them.
- physical location support added to sysfs so that devices that
know this information, can tell userspace where they are
located in a common way. Some ACPI devices already support
this today, and more bus types should support this in the
future.
Smaller changes included:
- driver_override api cleanups and fixes
- error path cleanups and fixes
- get_abi script fixes
- deferred probe timeout changes.
It's that last change that I'm the most worried about. It has been
reported to cause boot problems for a number of systems, and I have a
tested patch series that resolves this issue. But I didn't get it
merged into my tree before 5.18-final came out, so it has not gotten any
linux-next testing.
I'll send the fixup patches (there are 2) as a follow-on series to this
pull request if you want to take them directly, _OR_ I can just revert
the probe timeout changes and they can wait for the next -rc1 merge
cycle. Given that the fixes are tested, and pretty simple, I'm leaning
toward that choice. Sorry this all came at the end of the merge window,
I should have resolved this all 2 weeks ago, that's my fault as it was
in the middle of some travel for me.
All have been tested in linux-next for weeks, with no reported issues
other than the above-mentioned boot time outs.

Pull clk updates from Stephen Boyd:
"Mainly driver updates this time around.
There's a single patch to the core clk framework that simplifies a
runtime PM call. Otherwise the majority of the diff falls to a few SoC
drivers: Qualcomm, STM32 and MediaTek. Those SoCs gain some new
hardware support and what comes along with that is quite a few lines
of data and some clk_ops code.
Beyond the new hardware support we have the usual pile of driver
updates that add missing clks on already supported SoCs or fix up
problems like bad clk tree descriptions. It's nice to see that more
drivers are moving to clk_hw based APIs too.
New Drivers:
- Add STM32MP13 RCC driver (Reset Clock Controller)
- MediaTek MT8186 SoC clk support
- Airoha EN7523 SoC system clocks
- Clock driver for exynosautov9 SoC
- Renesas R-Car V4H and RZ/V2M SoCs
- Renesas RZ/G2UL SoC
- LPASS clk driver for Qualcomm sc7280 SoC
- GCC clk driver for Qualcomm SC8280XP SoC
Updates:
- SDCC uses floor clk ops on Qualcomm MSM8976
- Add modem reset and fix RPM clks on Qualcomm MSM8976
- Add the two missing CLKOUT clocks for U8500/DB8500 SoC
- Mark some clks critical on Ingenic X1000
- Convert ux500 to clk_hw
- Move MediaTek driver to clk_hw provider APIs
- Use i2c driver probe_new to avoid id scans
- Convert a number of Rockchip dt bindings to YAML
- Mark hclk_vo critical on Rockchip rk3568
- Use pm_runtime_resume_and_get to fix pm_runtime_get_sync() usage
- Various cleanups like memory allocation error checks and plugged
leaks
- Allwinner H6 RTC clock support
- Allwinner H616 32 kHz clock support
- Add the Universal Flash Storage clock on Renesas R-Car S4-8
- Add I2C, SSIF-2 (sound), USB, CANFD, OSTM (timer), WDT, SPI Multi
I/O Bus, RSPI, TSU (thermal), and ADC clocks and resets on Renesas
RZ/G2UL
- Add display clock support on Renesas RZ/G2L
- Add RPC (QSPI/HyperFlash) clocks on Renesas R-Car E3 and D3
- Add 27 MHz phy PLL ref clock on i.MX
- Add mcore_booted module parameter to tell kernel M core has already
booted for i.MX
- Remove snvs clock on i.MX because it was for secure world only
- Add dt bindings for i.MX8MN GPT
- Add DISP2 pixel clock for i.MX8MP
- Add clkout1/2 for i.MX8MP
- Fix parent clock of ubs_root_clk for i.MX8MP
- Implement better RCG parking on Qualcomm SoCs using the shared RCG
clk ops
- Kerneldoc fixes
- Switch Tegra BPMP to determine_rate clk op
- Add a pointer to dt schema for generic clock bindings"

The asm-generic tree contains three separate changes for linux-5.19:
- The h8300 architecture is retired after it has been effectively
unmaintained for a number of years. This is the last architecture we
supported that has no MMU implementation, but there are still a few
architectures (arm, m68k, riscv, sh and xtensa) that support CPUs with
and without an MMU.
- A series to add a generic ticket spinlock that can be shared by most
architectures with a working cmpxchg or ll/sc type atomic, including
the conversion of riscv, csky and openrisc. This series is also a
prerequisite for the loongarch64 architecture port that will come as
a separate pull request.
- A cleanup of some exported uapi header files to ensure they can be
included from user space without relying on other kernel headers.

This driver manages Reset and Clock of STM32MP13 soc.
It uses a clk-stm32-core module to manage stm32 gate, mux and divider
for STM32MP13 and for new future soc.
All gates, muxes, dividers are identify by an index and information
are stored in array (register address, shift, with, flags...)
This is useful when we have two clocks with the same gate or
when one mux manages two output clocks.

To move the list iterator variable into the list_for_each_entry_*()
macro in the future it should be avoided to use the list iterator
variable after the loop body.
To *never* use the list iterator variable after the loop it was
concluded to use a separate iterator variable instead of a
found boolean [1].
This removes the need to use a found variable and simply checking if
the variable was set, can determine if the break/goto was hit.

As noted in the "Deprecated Interfaces, Language Features, Attributes,
and Conventions" documentation [1], size calculations (especially
multiplication) should not be performed in memory allocator (or similar)
function arguments due to the risk of them overflowing. This could lead
to values wrapping around and a smaller allocation being made than the
caller was expecting. Using those allocations could lead to linear
overflows of heap memory and other misbehaviors.
So, use the purpose specific kcalloc() function instead of the argument
size * count in the kzalloc() function.

As part of the effort to improve the MediaTek clk drivers, the next step
is to switch from the old 'struct clk' clk prodivder APIs to the new
'struct clk_hw' ones.
In a previous patch, 'struct clk_onecell_data' was replaced with
'struct clk_hw_onecell_data', with (struct clk_hw *)->clk and
__clk_get_hw() bridging the new data structures and old code.
Now switch from the old 'clk_(un)?register*()' APIs to the new
'clk_hw_(un)?register*()' ones. This is done with the coccinelle script
below.
Unfortunately this also leaves clk-mt8173.c with a compile error that
would need a coccinelle script longer than the actual diff to fix. This
last part is fixed up by hand.

As part of the effort to improve the MediaTek clk drivers, the next step
is to switch from the old 'struct clk' clk prodivder APIs to the new
'struct clk_hw' ones.
Instead of adding new APIs to the MediaTek clk driver library mirroring
the existing ones, moving all drivers to the new APIs, and then removing
the old ones, just migrate everything at the same time. This involves
replacing 'struct clk' with 'struct clk_hw', and 'struct clk_onecell_data'
with 'struct clk_hw_onecell_data', and fixing up all usages.
For now, the clk_register() and co. usage is retained, with __clk_get_hw()
and (struct clk_hw *)->clk used to bridge the difference between the APIs.
These will be replaced in subsequent patches.
Fix up mtk_{alloc,free}_clk_data to use 'struct clk_hw' by hand. Fix up

mtk_clk_register_ref2usb_tx() prints an error message if clk_register()
fails. It doesn't if kzalloc() fails though. The caller would then tack
on its own error message to handle this.
Also, All other clk registration functions in the MediaTek clk library
leave the error message printing to the bulk registration functions,
while the helpers that register individual clks just return error codes.
Drop the error message that is printed when clk_register() fails in

As GDSCs are turned on and off some associated clocks are momentarily
enabled for house keeping purposes. For this, and similar, purposes the
"shared RCGs" will park the RCG on a source clock which is known to be
available.
When the RCG is parked, a safe clock source will be selected and
committed, then the original source would be written back and upon enable
the change back to the unparked source would be committed.
But starting with SM8350 this fails, as the value in CFG is committed by
the GDSC handshake and without a ticking parent the GDSC enablement will
time out.
This becomes a concrete problem if the runtime supended state of a
device includes disabling such rcg's parent clock. As the device
attempts to power up the domain again the rcg will fail to enable and
hence the GDSC enablement will fail, preventing the device from
returning from the suspended state.
This can be seen in e.g. the display stack during probe on SM8350.
To avoid this problem, the software needs to ensure that the RCG is
configured to a active parent clock while it is disabled. This is done
by caching the CFG register content while the shared RCG is parked on
this safe source.
Writes to M, N and D registers are committed as they are requested. New
helpers for get_parent() and recalc_rate() are extracted from their
previous implementations and __clk_rcg2_configure() is modified to allow
it to operate on the cached value.

The clock controller device on r9a06g032 takes all the memory range that

different (unrelated?) registers besides the ones belonging to the clock

For instance, the dmamux registers are there. The dmamux "device" will
be described as a child node of the clock/system controller node, which
means we need the top device driver (the clock controller driver in this

Consider CPU, L2 cache, and memory clocks as critical to prevent
them -- and the parent clocks -- from being automatically gated,
since nothing calls clk_get() on these clocks.
Gating the CPU clock hangs the processor, and gating memory makes
external DRAM inaccessible. Normal kernel code can't hope to deal
with either situation so those clocks have to be critical.
The L2 cache is required only if caches are running, and could be
gated if the kernel takes care to flush and disable caches before
gating the clock. There's no mechanism to do this, and probably no
reason to do it, so it's simpler to mark the L2 cache as critical.

The RTC section of the H616 manual mentions in a half-sentence the
existence of a clock "32K divided by PLL_PERI(2X)". This is used as
one of the possible inputs for the mux that selects the clock for the
32 KHz fanout pad. On the H616 this is routed to pin PG10, and some
boards use that clock output to compensate for a missing 32KHz crystal.
On the OrangePi Zero2 this is for instance connected to the LPO pin of
the WiFi/BT chip.
The new RTC clock binding requires this clock to be named as one input
clock, so we need to expose this to the DT. In contrast to the D1 SoC
there does not seem to be a gate for this clock, so just use a fixed
divider clock, using a newly assigned clock number.

Current clock initialization causes intermediate registering of orphan
clocks (i.e. a clock without a parent registered). CCF keeps track of
orphan clocks and any time a new clock is registered, it will loop
through the list of orphan and queries if the parent is now available.
This operation triggers one or more clock operations, which are IPCs
with BPMP-FW. Hence, due to the order in which the clocks appear
currently, this causes > 5000 IPC messages to be sent to BPMP-FW during

Whenever pclk_vo is enabled hclk_vo must be enabled as well. This is
described in the Reference Manual as:
| 2.8.6 NIU Clock gating reliance
|
| A part of niu clocks have a dependence on another niu clock in order to
| sharing the internal bus. When these clocks are in use, another niu
| clock must be opened, and cannot be gated. These clocks and the special
| clock on which they are relied are as following:
|
| Clocks which have dependency The clock which can not be gated
| -----------------------------------------------------------------
| ...
| pclk_vo_niu, hclk_vo_s_niu hclk_vo_niu
| ...
The clock framework doesn't offer a way to enable clock B whenever clock A is
enabled, at least not when B is not an ancestor of A. Workaround this by
marking hclk_vo as critical so it is never disabled. This is suboptimal in
terms of power consumption, but a stop gap solution until the clock framework
has a way to deal with this.
We have this clock tree:
| aclk_vo 2 2 0 300000000 0 0 50000 Y
| aclk_hdcp 0 0 0 300000000 0 0 50000 N
| pclk_vo 2 3 0 75000000 0 0 50000 Y
| pclk_edp_ctrl 0 0 0 75000000 0 0 50000 N
| pclk_dsitx_1 0 0 0 75000000 0 0 50000 N
| pclk_dsitx_0 1 2 0 75000000 0 0 50000 Y
| pclk_hdmi_host 1 2 0 75000000 0 0 50000 Y
| pclk_hdcp 0 0 0 75000000 0 0 50000 N
| hclk_vo 2 5 0 150000000 0 0 50000 Y
| hclk_hdcp 0 0 0 150000000 0 0 50000 N
| hclk_vop 0 2 0 150000000 0 0 50000 N
Without this patch the edp, dsitx, hdmi and hdcp driver would enable their
clocks which then enables pclk_vo, but hclk_vo stays disabled and register
accesses just hang. hclk_vo is enabled by the VOP2 driver, so reproducibility
of this issue depends on the probe order.

* tag 'sunxi-clk-fixes-for-5.18-2' of https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sunxi/linux:
clk: sunxi: sun9i-mmc: check return value after calling platform_get_resource()
clk: sunxi-ng: sun6i-rtc: Mark rtc-32k as critical
clk: sunxi-ng: fix not NULL terminated coccicheck error
This implements the two missing CLKOUT clocks for the ux500
(well really U8500/DB8500) SoC.
The clocks are initialized using a specific parent and
divider and these are specified in the device tree, see
the separate binding patch.
The implementation is a bit different in that it will only
create the clock in the clock framework if a user appears
in the device tree, rather than it being registered upfront
like most of the other clocks. This is because the clock
needs parameters for source and divider from the consumer
phandle for the clock to be set up properly when the clock
is registered.
There could be more than one user of a CLKOUT clock, but
we have not seen this in practice. If this happens the
framework prints and info and returns the previously
registered clock.
Using the clocks requires also muxing the CLKOUT1 or
CLKOUT2 to the appropriate pad. In practice this is
achived in a pinctrl handle in the DTS node for the device
using the CLKOUT clock, so this muxing is done separately
from the clock itself. Example:
haptic@49 {
compatible = "immersion,isa1200";
reg = <0x49>;
(...)
/* clkout1 from ACLK divided by 8 */
clocks = <&clkout_clk DB8500_CLKOUT_1 DB8500_CLKOUT_SRC_ACLK 8>;
pinctrl-names = "default";
pinctrl-0 = <&isa1200_janice_default>;
};
isa1200_janice_default: isa1200_janice {
/* Bring out clkout1 on pin GPIO227 pin AH7 */
janice_mux {
function = "clkout";
groups = "clkout1_a_1";
};
janice_cfg1 {
pins = "GPIO227_AH7";
ste,config = <&out_lo>;
};
(...)
This was tested successfully with the Immersion ISA1200
haptic feedback unit on the Samsung Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070
(Janice) mobile phone.
As the CLKOUT clocks need some undefined fixed rate parent
clocks that are currently missing from the PRCMU clock
implementation, the three simplest are added in this patch:
clk38m_to_clkgen, aclk and sysclk. The only parent not yet
available in the implementation is clk009, which is a kind
of special muxed and divided clock which isn't even
implemented in the vendor clock driver.

The only semantic difference is that if disabling the clock

serve to confuse the framework, the error message is

Because some newer hardware variants have multiple possible parents for
the RTC's timekeeping clock, this driver models it as a "rtc-32k" clock.
However, it does not add any consumer for this clock. This causes the
common clock framework to disable it, preventing RTC time access.
Since the RTC's timekeeping clock should always be enabled, regardless
of which drivers are loaded, let's mark this clock as critical instead
of adding a consumer in the RTC driver.

Currently the mpfs clock driver uses a reference clock called the
"msspll", set in the device tree, as the parent for the cpu/axi/ahb
(config) clocks. The frequency of the msspll is determined by the FPGA
bitstream & the bootloader configures the clock to match the bitstream.
The real reference is provided by a 100 or 125 MHz off chip oscillator.
However, the msspll clock is not actually the parent of all clocks on
the system - the reference clock for the rtc/mtimer actually has the
off chip oscillator as its parent.
In order to fix this, add support for reading the configuration of the
msspll & reparent the "config" clocks so that they are derived from
this clock rather than the reference in the device tree.

Since the commit 948fb0969e ("clk: Always clamp the rounded rate"),
the clk_core_determine_round_nolock() would clamp the requested rate
between min and max rates from the rate request. Normally these fields
would be filled by clk_core_get_boundaries() called from
clk_round_rate().
However clk_gfx3d_determine_rate() uses a manually crafted rate request,
which did not have these fields filled. Thus the requested frequency
would be clamped to 0, resulting in weird frequencies being requested
from the hardware.
Fix this by filling min_rate and max_rate to the values valid for the
respective PLLs (0 and ULONG_MAX).

The mach/hardware.h is included in lots of places, and it provides
three different things on pxa:
- the cpu_is_pxa* macros
- an indirect inclusion of mach/addr-map.h
- the __REG() and io_pv2() helper macros
Split it up into separate <linux/soc/pxa/cpu.h> and mach/pxa-regs.h
headers, then change all the files that use mach/hardware.h to
include the exact set of those three headers that they actually
need, allowing for further more targeted cleanup.
linux/soc/pxa/cpu.h can remain permanently exported and is now in
a global location along with similar headers. pxa-regs.h and
addr-map.h are only used in a very small number of drivers now
and can be moved to arch/arm/mach-pxa/ directly when those drivers
are to pass the necessary data as resources.

As we are changing the parent
behind the back of the clock framework, also implement custom
set_parent() and get_parent() operations behaving accroding to the clock
framework expectations (cache the new parent if the clock is in disabled
state, return cached parent).

Add mcore_booted boot parameter which could simplify AMP clock
management. To i.MX8M, there is CCM(clock control Module) to generate
clock root clock, anatop(analog PLL module) to generate PLL, and CCGR
(clock gating) to gate clocks to peripherals. As below:
anatop->ccm->ccgr->peripheral
Linux handles the clock management and the auxiliary core is under
control of Linux. Although there is per hardware domain control for CCGR
and CCM, auxiliary core normally only use CCGR hardware domain control
to avoid linux gate off the clk to peripherals and leave CCM ana anatop
to Linux.
Per NXP hardware design, because CCGR already support gate to
peripherals, and clk root gate power leakage is negligible. So
when in AMP case, we could not register the clk root gate.

it back in a much more modern form in 2015. Looking at the git history
since the reinstantiation, it's clear that almost all commits in the tree

clk_set_rate_range() works so that the frequency is re-evaulated each time the
rate is changed. Previously we wouldn't let clk providers see a rate that was
different if it was still within the range, which could be bad for power if the
clk could run slower when a range expands. Now the clk provider can decide to
do something differently when the constraints change. This broke Nvidia's clk
driver so we had to wait for the fix for that to bake a little more in -next.
The rate range patch series also introduced a kunit suite for the clk framework
that we're going to extend in the next release. It already made it easy to find
corner cases in the rate range patches so I'm excited to see it cover more clk
code and increase our confidence in core framework patches in the future. I
also added a kunit test for the basic clk gate code and that work will continue
to cover more basic clk types: muxes, dividers, etc.
Beyond the core code we have the usual set of clk driver updates and additions.
Qualcomm again dominates the diffstat here with lots more SoCs being supported
and i.MX follows afer that with a similar number of SoCs gaining clk drivers.
Beyond those large additions there's drivers being modernized to use
clk_parent_data so we can move away from global string names for all the clks
in an SoC. Finally there's lots of little fixes all over the clk drivers for
typos, warnings, and missing clks that aren't critical and get batched up
waiting for the next merge window to open. Nothing super big stands out in the
driver pile. Full details are below.
Core:
- Make clk_set_rate_range() re-evaluate the limits each time
- Introduce various clk_set_rate_range() tests
- Add clk_drop_range() to drop a previously set range

- Qualcomm SDX65 A7 PLL

Here is the big set of staging driver updates for 5.18-rc1.
Loads of tiny cleanups for almost all staging drivers in here, nothing
major at all. Highlights include:
- remove the ashmem Android driver. It is long-dead and if
there are any legacy userspace applications still using it,
the Android kernel images will maintain it, the community
shouldn't care about it anymore
- wfx wifi driver major cleanups. Should be ready to merge out
of staging soon, and will coordinate with the wifi maintainers
after -rc1 is out
- major cleanups and unwinding of the layers of the r8188eu
driver. It's amazing just how many unneeded layers of
abstraction is in there, just when we think it's done, another
is found...
- lots of tiny coding style cleanups in many other staging
drivers.
There will be merge conflict with a fbtft change and the spi driver
changes in your tree, but it's pretty obvious what to do (the function
shouldn't return anything.)
All have been in linux-next for a while with no reported problems.

When clk_put() is called we don't make another clk_set_rate() call to
re-evaluate the rate boundaries. This is unlike clk_set_rate_range()
that evaluates the rate again each time it is called.
However, clk_put() is essentially equivalent to clk_set_rate_range()
since after clk_put() completes the consumer's boundaries shouldn't be
enforced anymore.
Let's add a call to clk_set_rate_range() in clk_put() to make sure those
rate boundaries are dropped and the clock provider drivers can react.
Also add a few tests to make sure this case is covered.

A bug recently affected the Tegra30 where calling clk_set_rate_range()
on a clock would make it change its rate to the minimum.
This was due to the clock in question being a mux that was orphan at
registration, which lead to the clk_core req_rate being 0, and the
clk_set_rate_range() function then calling clk_set_rate() with req_rate,
effectively making that clock running at the minimum rate allowed, even
though the initial rate was within that range.
Make a test suite to create a mux initially orphan, and then make sure
that if our clock rate was initially within a given range, then
enforcing that range won't affect it.

When registering a clock that doesn't have a recalc_rate implementation,
and doesn't have its parent registered yet, we initialize the clk_core
rate and 'req_rate' fields to 0.
The rate field is later updated when the parent is registered in
clk_core_reparent_orphans_nolock() using __clk_recalc_rates(), but the
'req_rate' field is never updated.
This leads to an issue in clk_set_rate_range() and clk_put(), since
those functions will call clk_set_rate() with the content of 'req_rate'
to provide drivers with the opportunity to change the rate based on the
new boundaries. In this case, we would call clk_set_rate() with a rate
of 0, effectively enforcing the minimum allowed for this clock whenever
we would call one of those two functions, even though the actual rate
might be within range.
Let's fix this by setting 'req_rate' in
clk_core_reparent_orphans_nolock() with the rate field content just
updated by the call to __clk_recalc_rates().

H6 supports IOSC calibration and an ext-osc32k input. Unlike newer SoCs,
it has a single parent for its fanout clock.
Add support for H6 in the CCU driver, replacing the support in the

The RTC power domain in sun6i and newer SoCs manages the 16 MHz RC
oscillator (called "IOSC" or "osc16M") and the optional 32 kHz crystal
oscillator (called "LOSC" or "osc32k"). Starting with the H6, this power
domain also handles the 24 MHz DCXO (called variously "HOSC", "dcxo24M",
or "osc24M") as well. The H6 also adds a calibration circuit for IOSC.
Later SoCs introduce further variations on the design:
- H616 adds an additional mux for the 32 kHz fanout source.
- R329 adds an additional mux for the RTC timekeeping clock, a clock
for the SPI bus between power domains inside the RTC, and removes the
IOSC calibration functionality.
Take advantage of the CCU framework to handle this increased complexity.
This driver is intended to be a drop-in replacement for the existing RTC
clock provider. So some runtime adjustment of the clock parents is
needed, both to handle hardware differences, and to support the old
binding which omitted some of the input clocks.

The core clock and M2MC clocks are shared between some devices (Unicam
controllers and the HVS, and the HDMI controllers, respectively) that
will have various, varying, requirements depending on their current work
load.
Since those loads can require a fairly high clock rate in extreme
conditions (up to ~600MHz), we can end up running those clocks at their
maximum frequency even though we no longer require such a high rate.
Fortunately, those devices don't require an exact rate but a minimum
rate, and all the drivers are using clk_set_min_rate. Thus, we can just
rely on the fact that the clk_request minimum (which is the aggregated
minimum of all the clock users) is what we want at all times.

The M2MC clock provides the state machine clock for both HDMI
controllers.
However, if no HDMI monitor is plugged in at boot, its clock rate will
be left at 0 by the firmware and will make any register access end up in
a CPU stall, even though the clock was enabled.
We had some code in the HDMI controller to deal with this before, but it
makes more sense to have it in the clock driver. Move it there.

This has been do so far using some tests on the clock id in various

In order to reset the range on a clock, we need to call

When we change a clock minimum or maximum using clk_set_rate_range(),
clk_set_min_rate() or clk_set_max_rate(), the current code will only
trigger a new rate change if the rate is outside of the new boundaries.
However, a clock driver might want to always keep the clock rate to
one of its boundary, for example the minimum to keep the power
consumption as low as possible.
Since they don't always get called though, clock providers don't have the
opportunity to implement this behaviour.
Let's trigger a clk_set_rate() on the previous requested rate every time
clk_set_rate_range() is called. That way, providers that care about the
new boundaries have a chance to adjust the rate, while providers that
don't care about those new boundaries will return the same rate than
before, which will be ignored by clk_set_rate() and won't result in a
new rate change.

The code in clk_set_rate_range() will, if the current rate is outside of
the new range, force it to the minimum or maximum.
Since it's running under the condition that the rate is either lower
than the minimum, or higher than the maximum, this is equivalent to
using clamp, while being less readable. Let's switch to using clamp
instead.

The current core while setting the min and max rate properly in the
clk_request structure will not make sure that the requested rate is
within these boundaries, leaving it to each and every driver to make
sure it is.
It's not clear if this was on purpose or not, but this introduces some
inconsistencies within the API.
For example, a user setting a range and then calling clk_round_rate()
with a value outside of that range will get the same value back
(ignoring any driver adjustements), effectively ignoring the range that
was just set.
Another one, arguably worse, is that it also makes clk_round_rate() and
clk_set_rate() behave differently if there's a range and the rate being
used for both is outside that range. As we have seen, the rate will be
returned unchanged by clk_round_rate(), but clk_set_rate() will error
out returning -EINVAL.
Let's make sure the framework will always clamp the rate to the current
range found on the clock, which will fix both these inconsistencies.

If we were to have two users of the same clock, doing something like:
clk_set_rate_range(user1, 1000, 2000);
clk_set_rate_range(user2, 3000, 4000);
The second call would fail with -EINVAL, preventing from getting in a
situation where we end up with impossible limits.
However, this is never explicitly checked against and enforced, and
works by relying on an undocumented behaviour of clk_set_rate().
Indeed, on the first clk_set_rate_range will make sure the current clock
rate is within the new range, so it will be between 1000 and 2000Hz. On
the second clk_set_rate_range(), it will consider (rightfully), that our
current clock is outside of the 3000-4000Hz range, and will call
clk_core_set_rate_nolock() to set it to 3000Hz.
clk_core_set_rate_nolock() will then call clk_calc_new_rates() that will
eventually check that our rate 3000Hz rate is outside the min 3000Hz max
2000Hz range, will bail out, the error will propagate and we'll
eventually return -EINVAL.
This solely relies on the fact that clk_calc_new_rates(), and in
particular clk_core_determine_round_nolock(), won't modify the new rate
allowing the error to be reported. That assumption won't be true for all
drivers, and most importantly we'll break that assumption in a later
patch.
It can also be argued that we shouldn't even reach the point where we're
calling clk_core_set_rate_nolock().
Let's make an explicit check for disjoints range before we're doing
anything.

Any registered clk_core structure can have a NULL pointer in its dev
field. While never actually documented, this is evidenced by the wide
usage of clk_register and clk_hw_register with a NULL device pointer,
and the fact that the core of_clk_hw_register() function also passes a
NULL device pointer.
A call to clk_hw_get_clk() on a clk_hw struct whose clk_core is in that
case will result in a NULL pointer derefence when it calls dev_name() on
that NULL device pointer.
Add a test for this case and use NULL as the dev_id if the device
pointer is NULL.

lowest byte of the ctrl register is the integer part of the divider and
the 2nd byte is the number of 100th added to the divider.
The children of this clock is used by the audio peripherals for their
sample rate clock, so round to the closest possible rate rather than
always rounding down like regular dividers.

The problem is best illustrated by an example. Suppose a consumer wants
a 4MHz clock rate from a divider with a 10MHz parent. It would then
call
clk_round_rate(clk, 4000000)
which would call into our determine_rate() callback that correctly
rounds up and finds that a divisor of 3 gives the highest possible
frequency below the requested 4MHz and returns 10000000 / 3 = 3333333Hz.
However the consumer would then call
clk_set_rate(clk, 3333333)
but since 3333333 doesn't divide 10000000 evenly our set_rate() callback
would again round the divisor up and set it to 4 which results in an
unnecessarily low rate of 2.5MHz.
Fix it by using DIV_ROUND_CLOSEST in the set_rate() callback.
