f0635523c8 docs: hwmon: ir36021.rst: replace some characters
The conversion tools used during DocBook/LaTeX/html/Markdown->ReST
conversion and some cut-and-pasted text contain some characters that
aren't easily reachable on standard keyboards and/or could cause

9049572fb1 hwmon: Remove amd_energy driver
Commit 60268b0e82 ("hwmon: (amd_energy) modify the visibility of
the counters") restricted visibility of AMD energy counters to work
around a side-channel attack using energy data to determine which
instructions are executed. The attack is described in 'PLATYPUS:
Software-based Power Side-Channel Attacks on x86'. It relies on quick
and accurate energy readings.

This change made the counters provided by the amd_energy driver
effectively unusable for non-provileged users. However, unprivileged
read access is the whole point of hardware monitoring attributes.

An attempt to remedy the situation by limiting and randomizing access
to chip registers was rejected by AMD. Since the driver is for all
practical purposes unusable, remove it.

e1576396a7 hwmon: Clarify scope of attribute access
Hardware monitoring sysfs attributes are used and displayed by unrestricted
userspace applications. Standard attributes therefore have to be world
readable, since otherwise those userspace applications would either have
to run as super-user or display an error. None of those makes sense.
Clarify the expected scope of attribute access in the ABI document.

Add pmbus driver support for Maxim MAX15301 InTune Automatically
Compensated Digital PoL Controller with Driver and PMBus Telemetry

Even though the specification does not specifically mention it,
extensive empirical testing has revealed that auto-detection of
limit-registers will fail in a random fashion unless the delay
parameter is set to above about 80us. The default delay is set
to 100us to include some safety margin.

This patch is tested on a Flex BMR461 converter module.

1734b4135a hwmon: Add driver for fsp-3y PSUs and PDUs
This patch adds support for these devices:
- YH-5151E - the PDU
- YM-2151E - the PSU

The device datasheet says that the devices support PMBus 1.2, but in my
testing, a lot of the commands aren't supported and if they are, they
sometimes behave strangely or inconsistently. For example, writes to the
PAGE command requires using PEC, otherwise the write won't work and the
page won't switch, even though, the standard says that PEC is optional.
On the other hand, writes to SMBALERT don't require PEC. Because of
this, the driver is mostly reverse engineered with the help of a tool
called pmbus_peek written by David Brownell (and later adopted by my
colleague Jan Kundrát).

The device also has some sort of a timing issue when switching pages,
which is explained further in the code.

Because of this, the driver support is limited. It exposes only the
values that have been tested to work correctly.

82e3430dfa hwmon: add driver for NZXT Kraken X42/X52/X62/X72
These are "all-in-one" CPU liquid coolers that can be monitored and
controlled through a proprietary USB HID protocol.

While the models have differently sized radiators and come with varying
numbers of fans, they are all indistinguishable at the software level.

The driver exposes fan/pump speeds and coolant temperature through the
standard hwmon sysfs interface.

Fan and pump control, while supported by the devices, are not currently
exposed. The firmware accepts up to 61 trip points per channel
(fan/pump), but the same set of trip temperatures has to be maintained
for both; with pwmX_auto_point_Y_temp attributes, users would need to
maintain this invariant themselves.

Instead, fan and pump control, as well as LED control (which the device
also supports for 9 addressable RGB LEDs on the CPU water block) are
left for existing and already mature user-space tools, which can still
be used alongside the driver, thanks to hidraw. A link to one, which I
also maintain, is provided in the documentation.

The implementation is based on USB traffic analysis. It has been
runtime tested on x86_64, both as a built-in driver and as a module.

d349626b42 hwmon: (abx500) Decomission abx500 driver
This deletes the ABx500 hwmon driver, the only supported
variant being the AB8500.

This driver has been replaced by generic frameworks. By
inspecting the abx500 sysfs files we see that it contains
things such as temp1_max, temp1_max_alarm, temp1_max_hyst,
temp1_max_hyst_alarm, temp1_min, temp1_min_alarm.

It becomes obvious that the abx500.c is a reimplementation
of thermal zones. This is not very strange as the generic
thermal zones were not invented when this driver was merged
so people were rolling their own.

The ab8500.c driver contains conversion tables for handling
a thermistor on ADC channels AUX1 and AUX2.

I managed to replace the functionality of the driver with:

- Activation of the ntc_thermistor.c driver,
  CONFIG_SENSORS_NTC_THERMISTOR
- Activation of thermal zones, CONFIG_THERMAL
- In the device tree, connecting the NTC driver to the
processed IIO channels from the AB8500 GPADC ADC forming
  two instances of NTC sensors.
- Connecting the two NTC sensors to a "chassis" thermal zone
in the device tree and setting that to hit the CPU frequency
at 50 degrees celsius and do a critical shutdown at 70
degrees celsius, deploying a policy using the sensors.

After talking to the original authors we concluded that the
driver was never properly parameterized in production so
what we now have in the device tree is already puts the
thermistors to better use than what the hwmon driver did.

The two remaining channels for two battery temperatures is
already handled in the charging algorithms but can be
optionally extended to thermal zones as well if we want
these to trigger critical shutdown for the platform.

d115b51e0e hwmon: add Corsair PSU HID controller driver
The Corsair digital power supplies of the series RMi, HXi and AXi include
a small micro-controller with a lot of sensors attached. The sensors can
be accessed by an USB connector from the outside.

This micro-controller provides the data by a simple proprietary USB HID
protocol. The data consist of temperatures, current and voltage levels,
power usage, uptimes, fan speed and some more. It is also possible to
configure the PSU (fan mode, mono/multi-rail, over current protection).

This driver provides access to the sensors/statistics of the RMi and HXi
series power supplies. It does not support configuring these devices,
because there would be many ways to misconfigure or even damage the PSU.

This patch adds:
- hwmon driver corsair-psu
- hwmon documentation
- updates MAINTAINERS

865e4fc013 hwmon: Add hwmon driver for Intel MAX 10 BMC
This patch adds hwmon functionality for Intel MAX 10 BMC chip. This BMC
chip connects to a set of sensor chips to monitor current, voltage,
thermal and power of different components on board. The BMC firmware is
responsible for sensor data sampling and recording in shared registers.
Host driver reads the sensor data from these shared registers and
exposes them to users as hwmon interfaces.

dd43193976 hwmon (pmbus) use simple i2c probe function
pmbus_do_probe doesn't use the id information provided in its second
argument, so this can be removed, which then allows using the
single-parameter i2c probe function ("probe_new") for probes.

This avoids scanning the identifier tables during probes.

Drivers which didn't use the id are converted as-is; drivers which did
are modified as follows:

* if the information in i2c_client is sufficient, that's used instead
  (client->name);
* configured v. probed comparisons are performed by comparing the
configured name to the detected name, instead of the ids; this
involves strcmp but is still cheaper than comparing all the device
  names when scanning the tables;
* anything else is handled by calling i2c_match_id() with the same
level of error-handling (if any) as before.

Additionally, the mismatch message in the ltc2978 driver is adjusted
so that it no longer assumes that the driver_data is an index into
ltc2978_id.

fa4dac3e1b hwmon: (corsair-cpro) add reading pwm values
This adds the possibility for reading pwm values.
These can not be read if the device is controlled via
fan_target or a fan curve and will return an error in
this case. Since an error is expected, this adds some
rudimentary error handling.

Changes:
- add CTL_GET_FAN_PWM and use it via get_data
- pwm returns -ENODATA if the device returns error 0x12
- fan_target now returns -ENODATA when the driver is
started or a pwm value is set.
- add ccp_get_errno to determine errno from device error.
- get_data now has a parameter to determine whether
to read one or two bytes of data.
- update documentation
- fix missing surname in MAINTAINERS

40c3a44542 hwmon: add Corsair Commander Pro driver
This is v7 of a driver for the Corsair Commander Pro.
It provides sysfs attributes for:
- Reading fan speed
- Reading temp sensors
- Reading voltage values
- Writing pwm and reading last written pwm
- Reading fan and temp connection status

It is an usb driver, so it needs to be ignored by usbhid.
The Corsair Commander Pro is a fan controller and provides
no means for user interaction.
The two device numbers are there, because there is a slightly
different version of the same device. (Only difference
seem to be in some presets.)

Squashed:
 hwmon: (corsair-cpro) add fan_target

This adds fan_target entries to the corsair-cpro driver.
Reading the attribute from the device does not seem possible, so
it returns the last set value (same as pwm).

send_usb_cmd now has one more argument, which is needed for the
 fan_target command.

hwmon: corsair-cpro: Change to HID driver

This changes corsair-cpro to a hid driver using hid reports.

87976ce282 hwmon: Add Baikal-T1 PVT sensor driver
Baikal-T1 SoC provides an embedded process, voltage and temperature
sensor to monitor an internal SoC environment (chip temperature, supply
voltage and process monitor) and on time detect critical situations,
which may cause the system instability and even damages. The IP-block
is based on the Analog Bits PVT sensor, but is equipped with a
dedicated control wrapper, which provides a MMIO registers-based access
to the sensor core functionality (APB3-bus based) and exposes an
additional functions like thresholds/data ready interrupts, its status
and masks, measurements timeout. All of these is used to create a hwmon
driver being added to the kernel by this commit.

The driver implements support for the hardware monitoring capabilities
of Baikal-T1 process, voltage and temperature sensors. PVT IP-core
consists of one temperature and four voltage sensors, each of which is
implemented as a dedicated hwmon channel config.

The driver can optionally provide the hwmon alarms for each sensor the
PVT controller supports. The alarms functionality is made compile-time
configurable due to the hardware interface implementation peculiarity,
which is connected with an ability to convert data from only one sensor
at a time. Additional limitation is that the controller performs the
thresholds checking synchronously with the data conversion procedure.
Due to these limitations in order to have the hwmon alarms
automatically detected the driver code must switch from one sensor to
another, read converted data and manually check the threshold status
bits. Depending on the measurements timeout settings this design may
cause additional burden on the system performance. By default if the
alarms kernel config is disabled the data conversion is performed by
the driver on demand when read operation is requested via corresponding
_input-file.

5b46903d8b hwmon: Driver for disk and solid state drives with temperature sensors
Reading the temperature of ATA drives has been supported for years
by userspace tools such as smarttools or hddtemp. The downside of
such tools is that they need to run with super-user privilege, that
the temperatures are not reported by standard tools such as 'sensors'
or 'libsensors', and that drive temperatures are not available for use
in the kernel's thermal subsystem.

This driver solves this problem by adding support for reading the
temperature of ATA drives from the kernel using the hwmon API and
by adding a temperature zone for each drive.

With this driver, the hard disk temperature can be read using the
unprivileged 'sensors' application:

$ sensors drivetemp-scsi-1-0
drivetemp-scsi-1-0
Adapter: SCSI adapter
temp1: +23.0°C

or directly from sysfs:

$ grep . /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon9/{name,temp1_input}
/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon9/name:drivetemp
/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon9/temp1_input:23000

If the drive supports SCT transport and reports temperature limits,
those are reported as well.

drivetemp-scsi-0-0
Adapter: SCSI adapter
temp1: +27.0°C (low = +0.0°C, high = +60.0°C)
                       (crit low = -41.0°C, crit = +85.0°C)
                       (lowest = +23.0°C, highest = +34.0°C)

The driver attempts to use SCT Command Transport to read the drive
temperature. If the SCT Command Transport feature set is not available,
or if it does not report the drive temperature, drive temperatures may
be readable through SMART attributes. Since SMART attributes are not well
defined, this method is only used as fallback mechanism.

2057bdfb71 hwmon: (ina3221) Add summation feature support
This patch implements the summation feature of INA3221, mainly the
SCC (enabling) and SF (warning flag) bits of MASK_ENABLE register,
INA3221_SHUNT_SUM (summation of shunt voltages) register, and the
INA3221_CRIT_SUM (its critical alert setting) register.

Although the summation feature allows user to select which channels
to be added to the result, as an initial support, this patch simply
selects all channels by default, with one only condition: all shunt
resistor values need to be the same. This is because the summation
of current channels can be only accurately calculated, using shunt
voltage sum register, if all shunt resistors are equivalent.

f632a8170a Driver Core and debugfs changes for 5.3-rc1
Here is the "big" driver core and debugfs changes for 5.3-rc1

It's a lot of different patches, all across the tree due to some api
changes and lots of debugfs cleanups. Because of this, there is going
to be some merge issues with your tree at the moment, I'll follow up
with the expected resolutions to make it easier for you.

Other than the debugfs cleanups, in this set of changes we have:
 	- bus iteration function cleanups (will cause build warnings
with s390 and coresight drivers in your tree)
 	- scripts/get_abi.pl tool to display and parse Documentation/ABI
 	  entries in a simple way
 	- cleanups to Documenatation/ABI/ entries to make them parse
easier due to typos and other minor things
 	- default_attrs use for some ktype users
 	- driver model documentation file conversions to .rst
 	- compressed firmware file loading
 	- deferred probe fixes

All of these have been in linux-next for a while, with a bunch of merge
issues that Stephen has been patient with me for. Other than the merge
issues, functionality is working properly in linux-next :)

023912dbb8 hwmon: (ina3221) Add voltage conversion time settings
The CONFIG register has two 3-bit fields for conversion time
settings of Bus-voltage and Shunt-voltage, respectively. The
conversion settings, along with averaging mode, allow users
to optimize available timing requirement.

This patch adds an 'update_interval' sysfs node through the
hwmon_chip_info of hwmon core. It reflects a total hardware
conversion time:
samples * channels * (Bus + Shunt conversion times)

Though INA3221 supports different conversion time setups for
Bus and Shunt voltages, this patch only adds the support of
a unified setting for both conversion times, by dividing the
conversion time into two equal values.

f1af93216c hwmon: (adt7475) document mapping of sysfs entries to inputs
As per the usual standard with hwmon drivers the mapping to sysfs
entries follows the register map of the device e.g. in0_input
corresponds to the register 0x20, in1_input corresponds to 0x21 etc.

Hardware designers tend to work with input pins instead of registers
which is where things start to get confusing. A hardware designer might
say "the 1.5V rail is connected to the VCCP pin" leaving the software
designer none the wiser as to which of the sysfs entries should be
associated with the label "1.5V".

Try to bridge the gap by documenting the mapping of sysfs entries to
the corresponding pins. This should allow someone to create a
configuration file or other mapping without needing to dive into the
code and ADT datasheets.

6e5c06ad94 hwmon: (adm1275) Allow setting shunt reg value
The ADM series of hotswap controllers support extending
the current measurement range by using a sensing resistor
value other than the typical 1 mOhm. For example, using a 0.5 mOhm
sensing resistor doubles the maximal current can be measured.

Current driver assumes a shunt resistor value of 1 mOhm in calculation,
meaning for other resistor values, hwmon will report scaled
current/power measurements. This patch parses device tree parameter
"shunt-resistor-micro-ohms", if there is one.

a9e9dd9c6d hwmon: (ina3221) Read channel input source info from DT
An ina3221 chip has three input ports. Each port is used
to measure the voltage and current of its input source.

The DT binding now has defined bindings for their input
sources, so the driver should read these information and
handle accordingly.

This patch adds a new structure of input source specific
information including input source label, shunt resistor
value and its connection status. It exposes these labels
via in[123]_label sysfs nodes upon available, and also
disables those channels where there are no input source
being connected. Meanwhile, it also adds in[123]_enable
sysfs nodes for users to get control of three channels,
and returns -ENODATA code for any sensor read according
to hwmon ABI.

5e2d059b52 powerpc updates for 4.19
Notable changes:

  - A fix for a bug in our page table fragment allocator, where a page table page
could be freed and reallocated for something else while still in use, leading
to memory corruption etc. The fix reuses pt_mm in struct page (x86 only) for
    a powerpc only refcount.

  - Fixes to our pkey support. Several are user-visible changes, but bring us in
to line with x86 behaviour and/or fix outright bugs. Thanks to Florian Weimer
    for reporting many of these.

  - A series to improve the hvc driver & related OPAL console code, which have
been seen to cause hardlockups at times. The hvc driver changes in particular
have been in linux-next for ~month.

  - Increase our MAX_PHYSMEM_BITS to 128TB when SPARSEMEM_VMEMMAP=y.

  - Remove Power8 DD1 and Power9 DD1 support, neither chip should be in use
anywhere other than as a paper weight.

  - An optimised memcmp implementation using Power7-or-later VMX instructions

  - Support for barrier_nospec on some NXP CPUs.

  - Support for flushing the count cache on context switch on some IBM CPUs
(controlled by firmware), as a Spectre v2 mitigation.

  - A series to enhance the information we print on unhandled signals to bring it
into line with other arches, including showing the offending VMA and dumping

e0da99123f hwmon: (ibmpowernv) Add attributes to enable/disable sensor groups
OPAL firmware provides the facility for some groups of sensors to be
enabled/disabled at runtime to give the user the option of using the
system resources for collecting these sensors or not.

For example, on POWER9 systems, the On Chip Controller (OCC) gathers
various system and chip level sensors and maintains their values in
main memory.

This patch provides support for enabling/disabling the sensor groups

65afb4c8e7 hwmon: (mlxreg-fan) Add support for Mellanox FAN driver
Driver obtains PWM and tachometers registers location according to the
system configuration and creates FAN/PWM hwmon objects and a cooling
device. PWM and tachometers are controlled through the on-board
programmable device, which exports its register map. This device could be
attached to any bus type, for which register mapping is supported. Single
instance is created with one PWM control, up to 12 tachometers and one
cooling device. It could be as many instances as programmable device
supports.

Currently driver will be activated from the Mellanox platform driver:
drivers/platform/x86/mlx-platform.c.
For the future ARM based systems it could be activated from the ARM
platform module.

5d9ca430ea hwmon: (ltc2990) support all measurement modes

If devicetree is used, the mode must be specified with the property

cf583b4275 hwmon: (pmbus/max31785) Add dual tachometer support
The dual tachometer feature is implemented in hardware with a TACHSEL
input to indicate the rotor under measurement, and exposed on the device
by extending the READ_FAN_SPEED_1 word with two extra bytes*. The need
to read the non-standard four-byte response leads to a cut-down
implementation of i2c_smbus_xfer_emulated() included in the driver.
Further, to expose the second rotor tachometer value to userspace the
values are exposed through virtual pages. We re-route accesses to
FAN_CONFIG_1_2 and READ_FAN_SPEED_1 on pages 23-28 (not defined by the
hardware) to the same registers on pages 0-5, and with the latter command
we extract the value from the second word of the four-byte response.

* The documentation recommends the slower rotor be associated with
TACHSEL=0, which corresponds to the first word of the response. The
TACHSEL=0 measurement is used by the controller's closed-loop fan
management to judge target fan rate.

- It has a single PXA27x board file using the platform data
- The platform data is only used to carry two GPIO pins, all other

- The driver does not use GPIO descriptors but the legacy GPIO

I saw we can swiftly fix this by:

- Killing off the platform data entirely
- Define a GPIO descriptor lookup table in the board file
- Use the standard devm_gpiod_get() to grab the GPIO descriptors
from either the device tree or the board file table.

This compiles, but needs testing.
