42ab727eb9 selftests: kselftest_harness: separate diagnostic message with # in ksft_test_result_code()
According to the spec we should always print a # if we add
a diagnostic message. Having the caller pass in the new line
as part of diagnostic message makes handling this a bit
counter-intuitive, so append the new line in the helper.

732e203528 selftests: kselftest_harness: print test name for SKIP
Jakub points out that for parsers it's rather useful to always
have the test name on the result line. Currently if we SKIP
(or soon XFAIL or XPASS), we will print:

ok 17 # SKIP SCTP doesn't support IP_BIND_ADDRESS_NO_PORT

     ^
     no test name

Always print the test name.
KTAP format seems to allow or even call for it, per:
https://docs.kernel.org/dev-tools/ktap.html

fa1a53d836 selftests: kselftest: add ksft_test_result_code(), handling all exit codes
For generic test harness code it's more useful to deal with exit
codes directly, rather than having to switch on them and call
the right ksft_test_result_*() helper. Add such function to kselftest.h.

Note that "directive" and "diagnostic" are what ktap docs call
those parts of the message.

796a344fa4 selftests: kselftest_harness: use exit code to store skip
We always use skip in combination with exit_code being 0
(KSFT_PASS). This are basic KSFT / KTAP semantics.
Store the right KSFT_* code in exit_code directly.

This makes it easier to support tests reporting other
extended KSFT_* codes like XFAIL / XPASS.

0710a1a73f selftests/harness: Merge TEST_F_FORK() into TEST_F()
Replace Landlock-specific TEST_F_FORK() with an improved TEST_F() which
brings four related changes:

Run TEST_F()'s tests in a grandchild process to make it possible to
drop privileges and delegate teardown to the parent.

Compared to TEST_F_FORK(), simplify handling of the test grandchild
process thanks to vfork(2), and makes it generic (e.g. no explicit
conversion between exit code and _metadata).

Compared to TEST_F_FORK(), run teardown even when tests failed with an
assert thanks to commit 63e6b2a423 ("selftests/harness: Run TEARDOWN
for ASSERT failures").

Simplify the test harness code by removing the no_print and step fields
which are not used. I added this feature just after I made
kselftest_harness.h more broadly available but this step counter
remained even though it wasn't needed after all. See commit 369130b631
("selftests: Enhance kselftest_harness.h to print which assert failed").

Replace spaces with tabs in one line of __TEST_F_IMPL().

0623e73317 selftests/bpf: Test if shadow types work correctly.
Change the values of fields, including scalar types and function pointers,
and check if the struct_ops map works as expected.

The test changes the field "test_2" of "testmod_1" from the pointer to
test_2() to pointer to test_3() and the field "data" to 13. The function
test_2() and test_3() both compute a new value for "test_2_result", but in
different way. By checking the value of "test_2_result", it ensures the
struct_ops map works as expected with changes through shadow types.

And found at run-time under CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE:

  UBSAN: array-index-out-of-bounds in kernel/bpf/lpm_trie.c:218:49
  index 0 is out of range for type '__u8 [*]'

Changing struct bpf_lpm_trie_key is difficult since has been used by
userspace. For example, in Cilium:

	struct egress_gw_policy_key {
	        struct bpf_lpm_trie_key lpm_key;
	        __u32 saddr;
	        __u32 daddr;
	};

While direct references to the "data" member haven't been found, there
are static initializers what include the final member. For example,
the "{}" here:

        struct egress_gw_policy_key in_key = {
                .lpm_key = { 32 + 24, {} },
                .saddr   = CLIENT_IP,
                .daddr   = EXTERNAL_SVC_IP & 0Xffffff,
        };

To avoid the build time and run time warnings seen with a 0-sized
trailing array for struct bpf_lpm_trie_key, introduce a new struct
that correctly uses a flexible array for the trailing bytes,
struct bpf_lpm_trie_key_u8. As part of this, include the "header"
portion (which is just the "prefixlen" member), so it can be used
by anything building a bpf_lpr_trie_key that has trailing members that
aren't a u8 flexible array (like the self-test[1]), which is named
struct bpf_lpm_trie_key_hdr.

Unfortunately, C++ refuses to parse the __struct_group() helper, so
it is not possible to define struct bpf_lpm_trie_key_hdr directly in
struct bpf_lpm_trie_key_u8, so we must open-code the union directly.

Adjust the kernel code to use struct bpf_lpm_trie_key_u8 through-out,
and for the selftest to use struct bpf_lpm_trie_key_hdr. Add a comment
to the UAPI header directing folks to the two new options.

Netfilter fixes for net

Patch #1 restores NFPROTO_INET with nft_compat, from Ignat Korchagin.

Patch #2 fixes an issue with bridge netfilter and broadcast/multicast
packets.

There is a day 0 bug in br_netfilter when used with connection tracking.

Conntrack assumes that an nf_conn structure that is not yet added to
hash table ("unconfirmed"), is only visible by the current cpu that is
processing the sk_buff.

For bridge this isn't true, sk_buff can get cloned in between, and
clones can be processed in parallel on different cpu.

This patch disables NAT and conntrack helpers for multicast packets.

Patch #3 adds a selftest to cover for the br_netfilter bug.

22fc0e80ae bpf, arm64: support exceptions
The prologue generation code has been modified to make the callback
program use the stack of the program marked as exception boundary where
callee-saved registers are already pushed.

As the bpf_throw function never returns, if it clobbers any callee-saved
registers, they would remain clobbered. So, the prologue of the
exception-boundary program is modified to push R23 and R24 as well,
which the callback will then recover in its epilogue.

The Procedure Call Standard for the Arm 64-bit Architecture[1] states
that registers r19 to r28 should be saved by the callee. BPF programs on
ARM64 already save all callee-saved registers except r23 and r24. This
patch adds an instruction in prologue of the program to save these
two registers and another instruction in the epilogue to recover them.

These extra instructions are only added if bpf_throw() is used. Otherwise
the emitted prologue/epilogue remains unchanged.

b819a8481a selftests: netdevsim: be less selective for FW for the devlink test
Commit 6151ff9c75 ("selftests: netdevsim: use suitable existing dummy
file for flash test") introduced a nice trick to the devlink flashing
test. Instead of user having to create a file under /lib/firmware
we just pick the first one that already exists.

Sadly, in AWS Linux there are no files directly under /lib/firmware,
only in subdirectories. Don't limit the search to -maxdepth 1.
We can use the %P print format to get the correct path for files
inside subdirectories:

$ find /lib/firmware -type f -printf '%P\n' | head -1
intel-ucode/06-1a-05

The full path is /lib/firmware/intel-ucode/06-1a-05

This works in GNU find, busybox doesn't have printf at all,
so we're not making it worse.

Pull cxl fixes from Dan Williams:
 "A collection of significant fixes for the CXL subsystem.

  The largest change in this set, that bordered on "new development", is
  the fix for the fact that the location of the new qos_class attribute
  did not match the Documentation. The fix ends up deleting more code
  than it added, and it has a new unit test to backstop basic errors in
  this interface going forward. So the "red-diff" and unit test saved
  the "rip it out and try again" response.

  In contrast, the new notification path for firmware reported CXL
  errors (CXL CPER notifications) has a locking context bug that can not
  be fixed with a red-diff. Given where the release cycle stands, it is
  not comfortable to squeeze in that fix in these waning days. So, that
  receives the "back it out and try again later" treatment.

  There is a regression fix in the code that establishes memory NUMA
  nodes for platform CXL regions. That has an ack from x86 folks. There
  are a couple more fixups for Linux to understand (reassemble) CXL
  regions instantiated by platform firmware. The policy around platforms
  that do not match host-physical-address with system-physical-address
  (i.e. systems that have an address translation mechanism between the
  address range reported in the ACPI CEDT.CFMWS and endpoint decoders)
  has been softened to abort driver load rather than teardown the memory
  range (can cause system hangs). Lastly, there is a robustness /
  regression fix for cases where the driver would previously continue in
  the face of error, and a fixup for PCI error notification handling.

  Summary:

   - Fix NUMA initialization from ACPI CEDT.CFMWS

   - Fix region assembly failures due to async init order

   - Fix / simplify export of qos_class information

   - Fix cxl_acpi initialization vs single-window-init failures

   - Fix handling of repeated 'pci_channel_io_frozen' notifications

   - Workaround platforms that violate host-physical-address ==
     system-physical address assumptions

   - Defer CXL CPER notification handling to v6.9"

b546b57526 selftests/bpf: update tcp_custom_syncookie to use scalar packet offset
This commit updates tcp_custom_syncookie.c:tcp_parse_option() to use
explicit packet offset (ctx->off) for packet access instead of ever
moving pointer (ctx->ptr), this reduces verification complexity:
- the tcp_parse_option() is passed as a callback to bpf_loop();
- suppose a checkpoint is created each time at function entry;
- the ctx->ptr is tracked by verifier as PTR_TO_PACKET;
- the ctx->ptr is incremented in tcp_parse_option(),
  thus umax_value field tracked for it is incremented as well;
- on each next iteration of tcp_parse_option()
  checkpoint from a previous iteration can't be reused
  for state pruning, because PTR_TO_PACKET registers are
  considered equivalent only if old->umax_value >= cur->umax_value;
- on the other hand, the ctx->off is a SCALAR,
  subject to widen_imprecise_scalars();
- it's exact bounds are eventually forgotten and it is tracked as
  unknown scalar at entry to tcp_parse_option();
- hence checkpoints created at the start of the function eventually
  converge.

The change is similar to one applied in [0] to xdp_synproxy_kern.c.

Comparing before and after with veristat yields following results:

File Insns (A) Insns (B) Insns (DIFF)

559a146290 KVM: s390: selftests: memop: add a simple AR test
There is a selftest that checks for an (expected) error when an
invalid AR is specified, but not one that exercises the AR path.

Add a simple test that mirrors the vanilla write/read test while
providing an AR. An AR that contains zero will direct the CPU to
use the primary address space normally used anyway. AR[1] is
selected for this test because the host AR[1] is usually non-zero,
and KVM needs to correctly swap those values.

109a533114 net: mctp: tests: Test that outgoing skbs have flow data populated
When CONFIG_MCTP_FLOWS is enabled, outgoing skbs should have their
SKB_EXT_MCTP extension set for drivers to consume.

Add two tests for local-to-output routing that check for the flow
extensions: one for the simple single-packet case, and one for
fragmentation.

We now make MCTP_TEST select MCTP_FLOWS, so we always get coverage of
these flow tests. The tests are skippable if MCTP_FLOWS is (otherwise)
disabled, but that would need manual config tweaking.

187bbb6968 selftests: ioam: refactoring to align with the fix
ioam6_parser uses a packet socket. After the fix to prevent writing to
cloned skb's, the receiver does not see its IOAM data anymore, which
makes input/forward ioam-selftests to fail. As a workaround,
ioam6_parser now uses an IPv6 raw socket and leverages ancillary data to
get hop-by-hop options. As a consequence, the hook is "after" the IOAM
data insertion by the receiver and all tests are working again.

2ed08e4bc5 clocksource: Scale the watchdog read retries automatically
On a 8-socket server the TSC is wrongly marked as 'unstable' and disabled
during boot time on about one out of 120 boot attempts:

    clocksource: timekeeping watchdog on CPU227: wd-tsc-wd excessive read-back delay of 153560ns vs. limit of 125000ns,
    wd-wd read-back delay only 11440ns, attempt 3, marking tsc unstable
    tsc: Marking TSC unstable due to clocksource watchdog
    TSC found unstable after boot, most likely due to broken BIOS. Use 'tsc=unstable'.
    sched_clock: Marking unstable (119294969739, 159204297)<-(125446229205, -5992055152)
    clocksource: Checking clocksource tsc synchronization from CPU 319 to CPUs 0,99,136,180,210,542,601,896.
    clocksource: Switched to clocksource hpet

The reason is that for platform with a large number of CPUs, there are
sporadic big or huge read latencies while reading the watchog/clocksource
during boot or when system is under stress work load, and the frequency and
maximum value of the latency goes up with the number of online CPUs.

The cCurrent code already has logic to detect and filter such high latency
case by reading the watchdog twice and checking the two deltas. Due to the
randomness of the latency, there is a low probabilty that the first delta
(latency) is big, but the second delta is small and looks valid. The
watchdog code retries the readouts by default twice, which is not
necessarily sufficient for systems with a large number of CPUs.

There is a command line parameter 'max_cswd_read_retries' which allows to
increase the number of retries, but that's not user friendly as it needs to
be tweaked per system. As the number of required retries is proportional to
the number of online CPUs, this parameter can be calculated at runtime.

Scale and enlarge the number of retries according to the number of online
CPUs and remove the command line parameter completely.

4103d84808 selftests: mptcp: diag: unique 'cestab' subtest names
It is important to have a unique (sub)test name in TAP, because some CI

Now the previous value is taken, to have different names, e.g.:

While at it, the 'after flush' info is added, similar to what is done
with the 'in use' subtests. Also inspired by these 'in use' subtests,
'many' is displayed instead of a large number:

It is important to have a unique (sub)test name in TAP, because some CI
environments drop tests with duplicated names.

Some subtests from the userspace_pm selftest had the same names. That's
because different subflows are created (and deleted) between the same
pair of IP addresses.

Simply adding the destination port in the name is then enough to have
different names, because the destination port is always different.

Note that adding such info takes a bit more space, so we need to
increase a bit the width to print the name, simply to keep all the
'[ OK ]' aligned as before.

117132edc6 cxl/test: Add support for qos_class checking
Set a fake qos_class to a unique value in order to do simple testing of
qos_class for root decoders and mem devs via user cxl_test. A mock
function is added to set the fake qos_class values for memory device
and overrides cxl_endpoint_parse_cdat() in cxl driver code.

52f671db18 net/sched: act_mirred: use the backlog for mirred ingress
The test Davide added in commit ca22da2fbd ("act_mirred: use the backlog
for nested calls to mirred ingress") hangs our testing VMs every 10 or so
runs, with the familiar tcp_v4_rcv -> tcp_v4_rcv deadlock reported by
lockdep.

The problem as previously described by Davide (see Link) is that
if we reverse flow of traffic with the redirect (egress -> ingress)
we may reach the same socket which generated the packet. And we may
still be holding its socket lock. The common solution to such deadlocks
is to put the packet in the Rx backlog, rather than run the Rx path
inline. Do that for all egress -> ingress reversals, not just once
we started to nest mirred calls.

In the past there was a concern that the backlog indirection will
lead to loss of error reporting / less accurate stats. But the current
workaround does not seem to address the issue.

be66d79189 selftest/bpf: Test the read of vsyscall page under x86-64
Under x86-64, when using bpf_probe_read_kernel{_str}() or
bpf_probe_read{_str}() to read vsyscall page, the read may trigger oops,
so add one test case to ensure that the problem is fixed. Beside those
four bpf helpers mentioned above, testing the read of vsyscall page by
using bpf_probe_read_user{_str} and bpf_copy_from_user{_task}() as well.

The test case passes the address of vsyscall page to these six helpers
and checks whether the returned values are expected:

1) For bpf_probe_read_kernel{_str}()/bpf_probe_read{_str}(), the
   expected return value is -ERANGE as shown below:

bpf_probe_read_kernel_common
  copy_from_kernel_nofault
    // false, return -ERANGE
    copy_from_kernel_nofault_allowed

2) For bpf_probe_read_user{_str}(), the expected return value is -EFAULT
   as show below:

bpf_probe_read_user_common
  copy_from_user_nofault
    // false, return -EFAULT
    __access_ok

3) For bpf_copy_from_user(), the expected return value is -EFAULT:

// return -EFAULT
bpf_copy_from_user
  copy_from_user
    _copy_from_user
      // return false
      access_ok

4) For bpf_copy_from_user_task(), the expected return value is -EFAULT:

// return -EFAULT
bpf_copy_from_user_task
  access_process_vm
    // return 0
    vma_lookup()
    // return 0
    expand_stack()

The occurrence of oops depends on the availability of CPU SMAP [1]
feature and there are three possible configurations of vsyscall page in
the boot cmd-line: vsyscall={xonly|none|emulate}, so there are a total
of six possible combinations. Under all these combinations, the test
case runs successfully.

682158ab53 bpf: Fix test verif_scale_strobemeta_subprogs failure due to llvm19
With latest llvm19, I hit the following selftest failures with

  $ ./test_progs -j
  libbpf: prog 'on_event': BPF program load failed: Permission denied
  libbpf: prog 'on_event': -- BEGIN PROG LOAD LOG --
  combined stack size of 4 calls is 544. Too large

  stack depth 24+440+0+32
  processed 51008 insns (limit 1000000) max_states_per_insn 19 total_states 1467 peak_states 303 mark_read 146
  -- END PROG LOAD LOG --
  libbpf: prog 'on_event': failed to load: -13
  libbpf: failed to load object 'strobemeta_subprogs.bpf.o'
  scale_test:FAIL:expect_success unexpected error: -13 (errno 13)
  #498     verif_scale_strobemeta_subprogs:FAIL

The verifier complains too big of the combined stack size (544 bytes) which
exceeds the maximum stack limit 512. This is a regression from llvm19 ([1]).

In the above error log, the original stack depth is 24+440+0+32.
To satisfy interpreter's need, in verifier the stack depth is adjusted to
32+448+32+32=544 which exceeds 512, hence the error. The same adjusted
stack size is also used for jit case.

But the jitted codes could use smaller stack size.

  $ egrep -r stack_depth | grep round_up
  arm64/net/bpf_jit_comp.c:       ctx->stack_size = round_up(prog->aux->stack_depth, 16);
  loongarch/net/bpf_jit.c:        bpf_stack_adjust = round_up(ctx->prog->aux->stack_depth, 16);
  powerpc/net/bpf_jit_comp.c:     cgctx.stack_size = round_up(fp->aux->stack_depth, 16);
  riscv/net/bpf_jit_comp32.c:             round_up(ctx->prog->aux->stack_depth, STACK_ALIGN);
  riscv/net/bpf_jit_comp64.c:     bpf_stack_adjust = round_up(ctx->prog->aux->stack_depth, 16);
  s390/net/bpf_jit_comp.c:        u32 stack_depth = round_up(fp->aux->stack_depth, 8);
  sparc/net/bpf_jit_comp_64.c:            stack_needed += round_up(stack_depth, 16);
  x86/net/bpf_jit_comp.c:         EMIT3_off32(0x48, 0x81, 0xEC, round_up(stack_depth, 8));
  x86/net/bpf_jit_comp.c: int tcc_off = -4 - round_up(stack_depth, 8);
  x86/net/bpf_jit_comp.c:                     round_up(stack_depth, 8));
  x86/net/bpf_jit_comp.c: int tcc_off = -4 - round_up(stack_depth, 8);
  x86/net/bpf_jit_comp.c:         EMIT3_off32(0x48, 0x81, 0xC4, round_up(stack_depth, 8));

In the above, STACK_ALIGN in riscv/net/bpf_jit_comp32.c is defined as 16.
So stack is aligned in either 8 or 16, x86/s390 having 8-byte stack alignment and
the rest having 16-byte alignment.

This patch calculates total stack depth based on 16-byte alignment if jit is requested.
For the above failing case, the new stack size will be 32+448+0+32=512 and no verification
failure. llvm19 regression will be discussed separately in llvm upstream.

The verifier change caused three test failures as these tests compared messages
with stack size. More specifically,
  - test_global_funcs/global_func1: fail with interpreter mode and success with jit mode.
    Adjusted stack sizes so both jit and interpreter modes will fail.
  - async_stack_depth/{pseudo_call_check, async_call_root_check}: since jit and interpreter
    will calculate different stack sizes, the failure msg is adjusted to omit those
    specific stack size numbers.

 # not ok 699 tls_err.13_aes_gcm.poll_partial_rec_async
 # # FAILED: 698 / 699 tests passed.

This points to the second poll() in the test which is expected
to wait for the sender to send the rest of the data.
Apparently under some conditions that doesn't happen within 5ms,
bump the timeout to 20ms.

7cc13adbd0 bpf: emit source code file name and line number in verifier log
As BPF applications grow in size and complexity and are separated into
multiple .bpf.c files that are statically linked together, it becomes
harder and harder to match verifier's BPF assembly level output to
original C code. While often annotated C source code is unique enough to
be able to identify the file it belongs to, quite often this is actually
problematic as parts of source code can be quite generic.

Long story short, it is very useful to see source code file name and
line number information along with the original C code. Verifier already
knows this information, we just need to output it.

This patch extends verifier log with file name and line number
information, emitted next to original (presumably C) source code,
annotating BPF assembly output, like so:

  ; <original C code> @ <filename>.bpf.c:<line>

If file name has directory names in it, they are stripped away. This
should be fine in practice as file names tend to be pretty unique with
C code anyways, and keeping log size smaller is always good.

In practice this might look something like below, where some code is
coming from application files, while others are from libbpf's usdt.bpf.h
header file:

  ; if (STROBEMETA_READ( @ strobemeta_probe.bpf.c:534

879bbe7aa4 bpf: don't infer PTR_TO_CTX for programs with unnamed context type
For program types that don't have named context type name (e.g., BPF
iterator programs or tracepoint programs), ctx_tname will be a non-NULL
empty string. For such programs it shouldn't be possible to have
PTR_TO_CTX argument for global subprogs based on type name alone.
arg:ctx tag is the only way to have PTR_TO_CTX passed into global
subprog for such program types.

Fix this loophole, which currently would assume PTR_TO_CTX whenever
user uses a pointer to anonymous struct as an argument to their global
subprogs. This happens in practice with the following (quite common, in
practice) approach:

typedef struct { /* anonymous */
    int x;
} my_type_t;

int my_subprog(my_type_t *arg) { ... }

User's intent is to have PTR_TO_MEM argument for `arg`, but verifier
will complain about expecting PTR_TO_CTX.

This fix also closes unintended s390x-specific KPROBE handling of
PTR_TO_CTX case. Selftest change is necessary to accommodate this.

00f239eccf selftests/bpf: Test PTR_MAYBE_NULL arguments of struct_ops operators.
Test if the verifier verifies nullable pointer arguments correctly for BPF
struct_ops programs.

"test_maybe_null" in struct bpf_testmod_ops is the operator defined for the
test cases here.

A BPF program should check a pointer for NULL beforehand to access the
value pointed by the nullable pointer arguments, or the verifier should
reject the programs. The test here includes two parts; the programs
checking pointers properly and the programs not checking pointers
beforehand. The test checks if the verifier accepts the programs checking
properly and rejects the programs not checking at all.

345e8abe4c selftests/resctrl: Get domain id from cache id
Domain id is acquired differently depending on CPU. AMD tests use id
from L3 cache, whereas CPUs from other vendors base the id on topology
package id. In order to support L2 CAT test, this has to be
generalized.

The driver side code seems to get the domain ids from cache ids so the
approach used by the AMD branch seems to match the kernel-side code. It
will also work with L2 domain IDs as long as the cache level is
generalized.

Using the topology id was always fragile due to mismatch with the
kernel-side way to acquire the domain id. It got incorrect domain id,
e.g., when Cluster-on-Die (CoD) is enabled for CPU (but CoD is not well
suited for resctrl in the first place so it has not been a big issue if
tests don't work correctly with it).

Taking all the above into account, generalize acquiring the domain id
by taking it from the cache id and do not hard-code the cache level.

205de6ddd7 selftests/resctrl: Rewrite Cache Allocation Technology (CAT) test
CAT test spawns two processes into two different control groups with
exclusive schemata. Both the processes alloc a buffer from memory
matching their allocated LLC block size and flush the entire buffer out
of caches. Since the processes are reading through the buffer only once
during the measurement and initially all the buffer was flushed, the
test isn't testing CAT.

Rewrite the CAT test to allocate a buffer sized to half of LLC. Then
perform a sequence of tests with different LLC alloc sizes starting
from half of the CBM bits down to 1-bit CBM. Flush the buffer before
each test and read the buffer twice. Observe the LLC misses on the
second read through the buffer. As the allocated LLC block gets smaller
and smaller, the LLC misses will become larger and larger giving a
strong signal on CAT working properly.

The new CAT test is using only a single process because it relies on
measured effect against another run of itself rather than another
process adding noise. The rest of the system is set to use the CBM bits
not used by the CAT test to keep the test isolated.

Replace count_bits() with count_contiguous_bits() to get the first bit
position in order to be able to calculate masks based on it.

This change has been tested with a number of systems from different
generations.

Change the fill_buf reading loop to not use an obvious in-order access
using multiply by a prime and modulo.

Using a prime multiplier with modulo ensures the entire buffer is
eventually read. 23 is small enough that the reads are spread out but
wrapping does not occur very frequently (wrapping too often can trigger
L2 hits more frequently which causes noise to the test because getting
the data from LLC is not required).

It was discovered that not all primes work equally well and some can
cause wildly unstable results (e.g., in an earlier version of this
patch, the reads were done in reversed order and 59 was used as the
prime resulting in unacceptably high and unstable results in MBA and
MBM test on some architectures).

90a009db09 selftests/resctrl: Replace file write with volatile variable
The fill_buf code prevents compiler optimizating the entire read loop
away by writing the final value of the variable into a file. While it
achieves the goal, writing into a file requires significant amount of
work within the innermost test loop and also error handling.

A simpler approach is to take advantage of volatile. Writing through
a pointer to a volatile variable is enough to prevent compiler from
optimizing the write away, and therefore compiler cannot remove the
read loop either.

Add a volatile 'value_sink' into resctrl_tests.c and make fill_buf to
write into it. As a result, the error handling in fill_buf.c can be
simplified.

Callers of get_cbm_mask() are required to pass a string into which the
capacity bitmask (CBM) is read. Neither CAT nor CMT tests need the
bitmask as string but just convert it into an unsigned long value.

Another limitation is that the bit mask reader can only read
.../cbm_mask files.

Generalize the bit mask reading function into get_bit_mask() such that
it can be used to handle other files besides the .../cbm_mask and
handles the unsigned long conversion within get_bit_mask() using
fscanf(). Change get_cbm_mask() to use get_bit_mask() and rename it to
get_full_cbm() to better indicate what the function does.

Return error from get_full_cbm() if the bitmask is zero for some reason
because it makes the code more robust as the selftests naturally assume
the bitmask has some bits.

Also mark cache_type const while at it and remove useless comments that
are related to processing of CBM bits.

f8f6696999 selftests/resctrl: Split fill_buf to allow tests finer-grained control
MBM, MBA and CMT test cases call run_fill_buf() that in turn calls
fill_cache() to alloc and loop indefinitely around the buffer. This
binds buffer allocation and running the benchmark into a single bundle
so that a selftest cannot allocate a buffer once and reuse it. CAT test
doesn't want to loop around the buffer continuously and after rewrite
it needs the ability to allocate the buffer separately.

Split buffer allocation out of fill_cache() into alloc_buffer(). This
change is part of preparation for the new CAT test that allocates a
buffer and does multiple passes over the same buffer (but not in an
infinite loop).

52dbd67dff bpf: Abstract loop unrolling pragmas in BPF selftests
[Changes from V1:
- Avoid conflict by rebasing with latest master.]

Some BPF tests use loop unrolling compiler pragmas that are clang
specific and not supported by GCC. These pragmas, along with their
GCC equivalences are:

  #pragma clang loop unroll_count(N)
  #pragma GCC unroll N

  #pragma clang loop unroll(full)
  #pragma GCC unroll 65534

  #pragma clang loop unroll(disable)
  #pragma GCC unroll 1

  #pragma unroll [aka #pragma clang loop unroll(enable)]
  There is no GCC equivalence to this pragma. It enables unrolling on
  loops that the compiler would not ordinarily unroll even with
  -O2|-funroll-loops, but it is not equivalent to full unrolling
  either.

This patch adds a new header progs/bpf_compiler.h that defines the
following macros, which correspond to each pair of compiler-specific
pragmas above:

  __pragma_loop_unroll_count(N)
  __pragma_loop_unroll_full
  __pragma_loop_no_unroll
  __pragma_loop_unroll

The selftests using loop unrolling pragmas are then changed to include
the header and use these macros in place of the explicit pragmas.

Tested in bpf-next master.

9c52994e32 selftests: net: ignore timing errors in txtimestamp if KSFT_MACHINE_SLOW
This test is time sensitive. It may fail on virtual machines and for
debug builds.

Similar to commit c41dfb0dfb ("selftests/net: ignore timing errors in
so_txtime if KSFT_MACHINE_SLOW"), optionally suppress failure for timing
errors (only).

68bc61c26c bpf: Allow compiler to inline most of bpf_local_storage_lookup()
In various performance profiles of kernels with BPF programs attached,
bpf_local_storage_lookup() appears as a significant portion of CPU
cycles spent. To enable the compiler generate more optimal code, turn
bpf_local_storage_lookup() into a static inline function, where only the
cache insertion code path is outlined

Notably, outlining cache insertion helps avoid bloating callers by
duplicating setting up calls to raw_spin_{lock,unlock}_irqsave() (on
architectures which do not inline spin_lock/unlock, such as x86), which
would cause the compiler produce worse code by deciding to outline
otherwise inlinable functions. The call overhead is neutral, because we
make 2 calls either way: either calling raw_spin_lock_irqsave() and
raw_spin_unlock_irqsave(); or call __bpf_local_storage_insert_cache(),
which calls raw_spin_lock_irqsave(), followed by a tail-call to
raw_spin_unlock_irqsave() where the compiler can perform TCO and (in
optimized uninstrumented builds) turns it into a plain jump. The call to
__bpf_local_storage_insert_cache() can be elided entirely if
cacheit_lockit is a false constant expression.

Based on results from './benchs/run_bench_local_storage.sh' (21 trials,
reboot between each trial; x86 defconfig + BPF, clang 16) this produces
improvements in throughput and latency in the majority of cases, with an
average (geomean) improvement of 8%:

d45f5fa8b4 selftests: udpgso: Pull up network setup into shell script
udpgso regression test configures routing and device MTU directly through
uAPI (Netlink, ioctl) to do its job. While there is nothing wrong with it,
it takes more effort than doing it from shell.

Looking forward, we would like to extend the udpgso regression tests to
cover the EIO corner case [1], once it gets addressed. That will require a
dummy device and device feature manipulation to set it up. Which means more
Netlink code.

So, in preparation, pull out network configuration into the shell script
part of the test, so it is easily extendable in the future.

Also, because it now easy to setup routing, add a second local IPv6
address. Because the second address is not managed by the kernel, we can
"replace" the corresponding local route with a reduced-MTU one. This
unblocks the disabled "ipv6 connected" test case. Add a similar setup for
IPv4 for symmetry.

bd128f62c3 selftests: openvswitch: Add validation for the recursion test
Add a test case into the netlink checks that will show the number of
nested action recursions won't exceed 16. Going to 17 on a small
clone call isn't enough to exhaust the stack on (most) systems, so
it should be safe to run even on systems that don't have the fix
applied.

876e32473d selftests: net: include forwarding lib
The altnames test uses the forwarding/lib.sh and that dependency
currently causes failures when running the test after install:

  make -C tools/testing/selftests/ TARGETS=net install
  ./tools/testing/selftests/kselftest_install/run_kselftest.sh \
      -t net:altnames.sh
  # ...
  # ./altnames.sh: line 8: ./forwarding/lib.sh: No such file or directory
  # RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted
  # ./altnames.sh: line 73: tests_run: command not found
  # ./altnames.sh: line 65: pre_cleanup: command not found

f97f1fcc96 selftests: forwarding: Fix bridge locked port test flakiness
The redirection test case fails in the netdev CI on debug kernels
because an FDB entry is learned despite the presence of a tc filter that
redirects incoming traffic [1].

I am unable to reproduce the failure locally, but I can see how it can
happen given that learning is first enabled and only then the ingress tc
filter is configured. On debug kernels the time window between these two
operations is longer compared to regular kernels, allowing random
packets to be transmitted and trigger learning.

Fix by reversing the order and configure the ingress tc filter before
enabling learning.

7399e2ce4d selftests: forwarding: Fix bridge MDB test flakiness
After enabling a multicast querier on the bridge (like the test is
doing), the bridge will wait for the Max Response Delay before starting
to forward according to its MDB in order to let Membership Reports
enough time to be received and processed.

Currently, the test is waiting for exactly the default Max Response
Delay (10 seconds) which is racy and leads to failures [1].

Fix by reducing the Max Response Delay to 1 second.
