408c4768cd [NETNS]: Clean out the ipv6-related sysctls creation/destruction
The addrconf sysctls and neigh sysctls are registered and
unregistered always in pairs, so they can be joined into
one (well, two) functions, that accept the struct inet6_dev
and do all the job.

This also get rids of unneeded ifdefs inside the code.

1dab62226d [IPV6]: Use ctl paths to register addrconf sysctls
This looks very much like the patch for ipv4's devinet.

This is also intended to help us with the net namespaces
and saves the ipv6.ko size by ~320 bytes.

The difference from the first version is just the patch
offsets, that changed due to changes in the patch #2.

f52295a9c5 [IPV6]: Unify and cleanup calls to addrconf_sysctl_register
Currently this call is (ab)used similar to devinet one - it
registers sysctls for devices and for the "default" confs, while
the "all" sysctls are registered separately. But unlike its
devinet brother, the passed inet6_device is needed.

The fix is to make a __addrconf_sysctl_register(), which registers
sysctls for all "devices" we need, including "default" and "all" :)

The original addrconf_sysctl_register() calls the introduced
function, passing the inet6_device, device name and ifindex (to
be used as procname and ctl_name) into it.

Thanks to Herbert again for pointing out, that we can shrink the
argument list to 1 :)

c7dc89c0ac [IPV6]: Add RFC4214 support
This patch includes support for the Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel
Addressing Protocol (ISATAP) per RFC4214. It uses the SIT
module, and is configured using extensions to the "iproute2"
utility. The diffs are specific to the Linux 2.6.24-rc2 kernel
distribution.

This version includes the diff for ./include/linux/if.h which was
missing in the v2.4 submission and is needed to make the
patch compile. The patch has been installed, compiled and

14878f75ab [IPV6]: Add ICMPMsgStats MIB (RFC 4293) [rev 2]
Background: RFC 4293 deprecates existing individual, named ICMP
type counters to be replaced with the ICMPMsgStatsTable. This table
includes entries for both IPv4 and IPv6, and requires counting of all
ICMP types, whether or not the machine implements the type.

These patches "remove" (but not really) the existing counters, and
replace them with the ICMPMsgStats tables for v4 and v6.
It includes the named counters in the /proc places they were, but gets the
values for them from the new tables. It also counts packets generated
from raw socket output (e.g., OutEchoes, MLD queries, RA's from
radvd, etc).

Changes:
1) create icmpmsg_statistics mib
2) create icmpv6msg_statistics mib
3) modify existing counters to use these
4) modify /proc/net/snmp to add "IcmpMsg" with all ICMP types
listed by number for easy SNMP parsing
5) modify /proc/net/snmp printing for "Icmp" to get the named data
        from new counters.

6) support per-interface ICMP stats
7) use common macro for per-device stat macros

881d966b48 [NET]: Make the device list and device lookups per namespace.
This patch makes most of the generic device layer network
namespace safe. This patch makes dev_base_head a
network namespace variable, and then it picks up
a few associated variables. The functions:
dev_getbyhwaddr
dev_getfirsthwbytype
dev_get_by_flags
dev_get_by_name
__dev_get_by_name
dev_get_by_index
__dev_get_by_index
dev_ioctl
dev_ethtool
dev_load
wireless_process_ioctl

were modified to take a network namespace argument, and
deal with it.

vlan_ioctl_set and brioctl_set were modified so their
hooks will receive a network namespace argument.

So basically anthing in the core of the network stack that was
affected to by the change of dev_base was modified to handle
multiple network namespaces. The rest of the network stack was
simply modified to explicitly use &init_net the initial network
namespace. This can be fixed when those components of the network
stack are modified to handle multiple network namespaces.

For now the ifindex generator is left global.

Fundametally ifindex numbers are per namespace, or else
we will have corner case problems with migration when
we get that far.

At the same time there are assumptions in the network stack
that the ifindex of a network device won't change. Making
the ifindex number global seems a good compromise until
the network stack can cope with ifindex changes when
you change namespaces, and the like.

e9dc865340 [NET]: Make device event notification network namespace safe
Every user of the network device notifiers is either a protocol
stack or a pseudo device. If a protocol stack that does not have
support for multiple network namespaces receives an event for a
device that is not in the initial network namespace it quite possibly
can get confused and do the wrong thing.

To avoid problems until all of the protocol stacks are converted
this patch modifies all netdev event handlers to ignore events on
devices that are not in the initial network namespace.

As the rest of the code is made network namespace aware these
checks can be removed.

457c4cbc5a [NET]: Make /proc/net per network namespace
This patch makes /proc/net per network namespace. It modifies the global
variables proc_net and proc_net_stat to be per network namespace.
The proc_net file helpers are modified to take a network namespace argument,
and all of their callers are fixed to pass &init_net for that argument.
This ensures that all of the /proc/net files are only visible and
usable in the initial network namespace until the code behind them
has been updated to be handle multiple network namespaces.

Making /proc/net per namespace is necessary as at least some files
in /proc/net depend upon the set of network devices which is per
network namespace, and even more files in /proc/net have contents
that are relevant to a single network namespace.

separately for future work.

Loadable features:
* MH receiving check (to send ICMP error back)
* RO header parsing and building (i.e. RH2 and HAO in DSTOPTS)
* XFRM policy/state database handling for RO

These are NOT covered as loadable:
* Home Address flags and its rule on source address selection
* XFRM sub policy (depends on its own kernel option)
* XFRM functions to receive RO as IPv6 extension header
* MH sending/receiving through raw socket if user application

c2edacf80e bonding / ipv6: no addrconf for slaves separately from master
At present, when a device is enslaved to bonding, if ipv6 is
active then addrconf will be initated on the slave (because it is closed
then opened during the enslavement processing). This causes DAD and RS
packets to be sent from the slave. These packets in turn can confuse
switches that perform ipv6 snooping, causing them to incorrectly update
their forwarding tables (if, e.g., the slave being added is an inactve
backup that won't be used right away) and direct traffic away from the
active slave to a backup slave (where the incoming packets will be
dropped).

This patch alters the behavior so that addrconf will only run on
the master device itself. I believe this is logically correct, as it
prevents slaves from having an IPv6 identity independent from the
master. This is consistent with the IPv4 behavior for bonding.

This is accomplished by (a) having bonding set IFF_SLAVE sooner
in the enslavement processing than currently occurs (before open, not
after), and (b) having ipv6 addrconf ignore UP and CHANGE events on
slave devices.

The eql driver also uses the IFF_SLAVE flag. I inspected eql,
and I believe this change is reasonable for its usage of IFF_SLAVE, but
I did not test it.

74235a25c6 [IPV6] addrconf: Fix IPv6 on tuntap tunnels
The recent patch that added ipv6_hwtype is broken on tuntap tunnels.
Indeed, it's broken on any device that does not pass the ipv6_hwtype
test.

The reason is that the original test only applies to autoconfiguration,
not IPv6 support. IPv6 support is allowed on any device. In fact,
even with the ipv6_hwtype patch applied you can still add IPv6 addresses
to any interface that doesn't pass thw ipv6_hwtype test provided that
they have a sufficiently large MTU. This is a serious problem because
come deregistration time these devices won't be cleaned up properly.

I've gone back and looked at the rationale for the patch. It appears
that the real problem is that we were creating IPv6 devices even if the
MTU was too small. So here's a patch which fixes that and reverts the
ipv6_hwtype stuff.

list per-namespace. In almost every occasion, use of dev_base variable

first_netdev()/next_netdev().

95c385b4d5 [IPV6] ADDRCONF: Optimistic Duplicate Address Detection (RFC 4429) Support.
Nominally an autoconfigured IPv6 address is added to an interface in the
Tentative state (as per RFC 2462). Addresses in this state remain in this
state while the Duplicate Address Detection process operates on them to
determine their uniqueness on the network. During this period, these
tentative addresses may not be used for communication, increasing the time
before a node may be able to communicate on a network. Using Optimistic
Duplicate Address Detection, autoconfigured addresses may be used
immediately for communication on the network, as long as certain rules are
followed to avoid conflicts with other nodes during the Duplicate Address
Detection process.

0b4d414714 [PATCH] sysctl: remove insert_at_head from register_sysctl
The semantic effect of insert_at_head is that it would allow new registered
sysctl entries to override existing sysctl entries of the same name. Which is
pain for caching and the proc interface never implemented.

I have done an audit and discovered that none of the current users of
register_sysctl care as (excpet for directories) they do not register
duplicate sysctl entries.

So this patch simply removes the support for overriding existing entries in
the sys_sysctl interface since no one uses it or cares and it makes future
enhancments harder.

cd354f1ae7 [PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.h
After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h
recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes.
There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need
anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for
macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the
course of cleaning it up.

To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only
removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble.

Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha,
arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig,
allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all
configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were
introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted
by unnecessarily included header files).

the ioctl interface with a struct fib6_config based on. Allows
changing the interface without breaking the ioctl interface

ipv6_add_addr allocates a struct inet6_ifaddr and a dstentry, but it
doesn't install the dstentry in ifa->rt until after it releases the

address while it hasn't been initialized completely yet.

One possible fix would be to grab the ifp->lock spinlock when
creating the address struct; a simpler fix is to just move the
assignment.

e041c68341 [PATCH] Notifier chain update: API changes
The kernel's implementation of notifier chains is unsafe. There is no
protection against entries being added to or removed from a chain while the
chain is in use. The issues were discussed in this thread:

    http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-kernel&m=113018709002036&w=2

We noticed that notifier chains in the kernel fall into two basic usage
classes:

"Blocking" chains are always called from a process context
	and the callout routines are allowed to sleep;

"Atomic" chains can be called from an atomic context and
the callout routines are not allowed to sleep.

We decided to codify this distinction and make it part of the API. Therefore
this set of patches introduces three new, parallel APIs: one for blocking
notifiers, one for atomic notifiers, and one for "raw" notifiers (which is
really just the old API under a new name). New kinds of data structures are
used for the heads of the chains, and new routines are defined for
registration, unregistration, and calling a chain. The three APIs are
explained in include/linux/notifier.h and their implementation is in
kernel/sys.c.

With atomic and blocking chains, the implementation guarantees that the chain
links will not be corrupted and that chain callers will not get messed up by
entries being added or removed. For raw chains the implementation provides no
guarantees at all; users of this API must provide their own protections. (The
idea was that situations may come up where the assumptions of the atomic and
blocking APIs are not appropriate, so it should be possible for users to
handle these things in their own way.)

There are some limitations, which should not be too hard to live with. For
atomic/blocking chains, registration and unregistration must always be done in
a process context since the chain is protected by a mutex/rwsem. Also, a
callout routine for a non-raw chain must not try to register or unregister
entries on its own chain. (This did happen in a couple of places and the code
had to be changed to avoid it.)

Since atomic chains may be called from within an NMI handler, they cannot use
spinlocks for synchronization. Instead we use RCU. The overhead falls almost
entirely in the unregister routine, which is okay since unregistration is much
less frequent that calling a chain.

Here is the list of chains that we adjusted and their classifications. None
of them use the raw API, so for the moment it is only a placeholder.

  BLOCKING CHAINS
  ---------------
arch/powerpc/platforms/pseries/reconfig.c:	pSeries_reconfig_chain

arch/x86_64/kernel/process.c idle_notifier

kernel/sys.c reboot_notifier_list
net/core/dev.c netdev_chain
net/decnet/dn_dev.c: dnaddr_chain
net/ipv4/devinet.c: inetaddr_chain

It's possible that some of these classifications are wrong. If they are,
please let us know or submit a patch to fix them. Note that any chain that
gets called very frequently should be atomic, because the rwsem read-locking
used for blocking chains is very likely to incur cache misses on SMP systems.
(However, if the chain's callout routines may sleep then the chain cannot be
atomic.)

The patch set was written by Alan Stern and Chandra Seetharaman, incorporating
material written by Keith Owens and suggestions from Paul McKenney and Andrew
Morton.

4641e7a334 [IPV6]: Don't hold extra ref count in ipv6_ifa_notify
Currently the logic in ipv6_ifa_notify is to hold an extra reference
count for addrconf dst's that get added to the routing table. Thus,
when addrconf dst entries are taken out of the routing table, we need
to drop that dst. However, addrconf dst entries may be removed from
the routing table by means other than __ipv6_ifa_notify.

So we're faced with the choice of either fixing up all places where
addrconf dst entries are removed, or dropping the extra reference count
altogether.

I chose the latter because the ifp itself always holds a dst reference
count of 1 while it's alive. This is dropped just before we kfree the
ifp object. Therefore we know that in __ipv6_ifa_notify we will always
hold that count.

This bug was found by Eric W. Biederman.

Out of tcp6_timewait_sock, that now is just an aggregation of
inet_timewait_sock and inet6_timewait_sock, using tw_ipv6_offset in struct
inet_timewait_sock, that is common to the IPv6 transport protocols that use
timewait sockets, like DCCP and TCP.

tw_ipv6_offset plays the struct inet_sock pinfo6 role, i.e. for the generic
code to find the IPv6 area in a timewait sock.

1d1428045c [IPV6]: Fix address deletion
If you add more than one IPv6 address belonging to the same prefix and
delete the address that was last added, routing table entry for that
prefix is also deleted.
Tested on 2.6.14.4

To reproduce:
ip addr add 3ffe::1/64 dev eth0
ip addr add 3ffe::2/64 dev eth0
/* wait DAD */
sleep 1
ip addr del 3ffe::2/64 dev eth0
ip -6 route

(route to 3ffe::/64 should be gone)

In ipv6_del_addr(), if ifa == ifp, we set ifa->if_next to NULL, and later
assign ifap = &ifa->if_next, effectively terminating the for-loop.
This prevents us from checking if there are other addresses using the same
prefix that are valid, and thus resulting in deletion of the prefix.
This applies only if the first entry in idev->addr_list is the address to
be deleted.

8feaf0c0a5 [INET]: Generalise tcp_tw_bucket, aka TIME_WAIT sockets
This paves the way to generalise the rest of the sock ID lookup
routines and saves some bytes in TCPv4 TIME_WAIT sockets on distro
kernels (where IPv6 is always built as a module):

[root@qemu ~]# grep tw_sock /proc/slabinfo
tw_sock_TCPv6 0 0 128 31 1
tw_sock_TCP 0 0 96 41 1
[root@qemu ~]#

Now if a protocol wants to use the TIME_WAIT generic infrastructure it
only has to set the sk_prot->twsk_obj_size field with the size of its
inet_timewait_sock derived sock and proto_register will create
sk_prot->twsk_slab, for now its only for INET sockets, but we can
introduce timewait_sock later if some non INET transport protocolo
wants to use this stuff.

Next changesets will take advantage of this new infrastructure to
generalise even more TCP code.

While fixing this, i took the liberty to resolve the outstanding issue
of IPV6 routes inserted via ioctls to have the correct pids as well.

This patch tries to behave as close as possible to the v4 routes i.e
maintains whatever PID the socket issuing the command owns as opposed to
the process. That made the patch a little bulky.

I have tested against both netlink derived utility to add/del routes as
