The following patches will add a sysctl to control multipath hash
seed. In order to centralize the hash computation, add a helper,
fib_multipath_hash_from_keys(), and have all IPv4 and IPv6 route.c
invocations of flow_hash_from_keys() go through this helper instead.

This list is used to tranfert dst that are handled by
rt_flush_dev() and rt6_uncached_list_flush_dev() out
of the per-cpu lists.
But quarantine list is not used later.
If we simply use list_del_init(&rt->dst.rt_uncached),
this also removes the dst from per-cpu list.
This patch also makes the future calls to rt_del_uncached_list()
and rt6_uncached_list_del() faster, because no spinlock
acquisition is needed anymore.

__dst_negative_advice() does not enforce proper RCU rules when
sk->dst_cache must be cleared, leading to possible UAF.
RCU rules are that we must first clear sk->sk_dst_cache,
then call dst_release(old_dst).
Note that sk_dst_reset(sk) is implementing this protocol correctly,
while __dst_negative_advice() uses the wrong order.
Given that ip6_negative_advice() has special logic
against RTF_CACHE, this means each of the three ->negative_advice()
existing methods must perform the sk_dst_reset() themselves.
Note the check against NULL dst is centralized in
__dst_negative_advice(), there is no need to duplicate
it in various callbacks.

This commit comes at the tail end of a greater effort to remove the
empty elements at the end of the ctl_table arrays (sentinels) which
will reduce the overall build time size of the kernel and run time
memory bloat by ~64 bytes per sentinel (further information Link :
https://lore.kernel.org/all/ZO5Yx5JFogGi%2FcBo@bombadil.infradead.org/)
* Remove sentinel element from ctl_table structs.
* Remove the zeroing out of an array element (to make it look like a
sentinel) in sysctl_route_net_init And ipv6_route_sysctl_init.
This is not longer needed and is safe after commit c899710fe7
("networking: Update to register_net_sysctl_sz") added the array size
to the ctl_table registration.
* Remove extra sentinel element in the declaration of devinet_vars.
* Removed the "-1" in __devinet_sysctl_register, sysctl_route_net_init,
ipv6_sysctl_net_init and ipv4_sysctl_init_net that adjusted for having
an extra empty element when looping over ctl_table arrays
* Replace the for loop stop condition in __addrconf_sysctl_register that
tests for procname == NULL with one that depends on array size
* Removing the unprivileged user check in ipv6_route_sysctl_init is
safe as it is replaced by calling ipv6_route_sysctl_table_size;
introduced in commit c899710fe7 ("networking: Update to
register_net_sysctl_sz")

This patch does a similar change for IPv4.
Instead of (struct rtable *)dst casts, we can use :
#define dst_rtable(_ptr) \
container_of_const(_ptr, struct rtable, dst)
Patch is smaller than IPv6 one, because IPv4 has skb_rtable() helper.

Long ago we set out to remove the kitchen sink on kernel/sysctl.c arrays and
placings sysctls to their own sybsystem or file to help avoid merge conflicts.
Matthew Wilcox pointed out though that if we're going to do that we might as
well also *save* space while at it and try to remove the extra last sysctl
entry added at the end of each array, a sentintel, instead of bloating the
kernel by adding a new sentinel with each array moved.
Doing that was not so trivial, and has required slowing down the moves of
kernel/sysctl.c arrays and measuring the impact on size by each new move.
The complex part of the effort to help reduce the size of each sysctl is being
done by the patient work of el señor Don Joel Granados. A lot of this is truly
painful code refactoring and testing and then trying to measure the savings of
each move and removing the sentinels. Although Joel already has code which does
most of this work, experience with sysctl moves in the past shows is we need to
be careful due to the slew of odd build failures that are possible due to the
amount of random Kconfig options sysctls use.
To that end Joel's work is split by first addressing the major housekeeping
needed to remove the sentinels, which is part of this merge request. The rest
of the work to actually remove the sentinels will be done later in future
kernel releases.
At first I was only going to send his first 7 patches of his patch series,
posted 1 month ago, but in retrospect due to the testing the changes have
received in linux-next and the minor changes they make this goes with the
entire set of patches Joel had planned: just sysctl house keeping. There are
networking changes but these are part of the house keeping too.
The preliminary math is showing this will all help reduce the overall build
time size of the kernel and run time memory consumed by the kernel by about
~64 bytes per array where we are able to remove each sentinel in the future.
That also means there is no more bloating the kernel with the extra ~64 bytes
per array moved as no new sentinels are created.
Most of this has been in linux-next for about a month, the last 7 patches took
a minor refresh 2 week ago based on feedback.

Move from register_net_sysctl to register_net_sysctl_sz for all the
networking related files. Do this while making sure to mirror the NULL
assignments with a table_size of zero for the unprivileged users.
We need to move to the new function in preparation for when we change
SIZE_MAX to ARRAY_SIZE() in the register_net_sysctl macro. Failing to do
so would erroneously allow ARRAY_SIZE() to be called on a pointer. We
hold off the SIZE_MAX to ARRAY_SIZE change until we have migrated all
the relevant net sysctl registering functions to register_net_sysctl_sz

Patch "net: dst: Prevent false sharing vs. dst_entry:: __refcnt" moved
rt_uncached and rt_uncached_list fields from rtable struct to dst
struct, so they are more zeroed by memset_after(xdst, 0, u.dst) in
xfrm_alloc_dst().
Note that rt_uncached (list_head) was never properly initialized at
alloc time, but xfrm[46]_dst_destroy() is written in such a way that
it was not an issue thanks to the memset:
if (xdst->u.rt.dst.rt_uncached_list)
rt_del_uncached_list(&xdst->u.rt);
The route code does it the other way around: rt_uncached_list is
assumed to be valid IIF rt_uncached list_head is not empty:
void rt_del_uncached_list(struct rtable *rt)
{
if (!list_empty(&rt->dst.rt_uncached)) {
struct uncached_list *ul = rt->dst.rt_uncached_list;
spin_lock_bh(&ul->lock);
list_del_init(&rt->dst.rt_uncached);
spin_unlock_bh(&ul->lock);
}
}
This patch adds mandatory rt_uncached list_head initialization in
generic dst_init(), and adapt xfrm[46]_dst_destroy logic to match the
rest of the code.

dst_entry::__refcnt is highly contended in scenarios where many connections
happen from and to the same IP. The reference count is an atomic_t, so the
reference count operations have to take the cache-line exclusive.
Aside of the unavoidable reference count contention there is another
significant problem which is caused by that: False sharing.
perf top identified two affected read accesses. dst_entry::lwtstate and
rtable::rt_genid.
dst_entry:__refcnt is located at offset 64 of dst_entry, which puts it into
a seperate cacheline vs. the read mostly members located at the beginning
of the struct.
That prevents false sharing vs. the struct members in the first 64
bytes of the structure, but there is also
dst_entry::lwtstate
which is located after the reference count and in the same cache line. This
member is read after a reference count has been acquired.
struct rtable embeds a struct dst_entry at offset 0. struct dst_entry has a
size of 112 bytes, which means that the struct members of rtable which
follow the dst member share the same cache line as dst_entry::__refcnt.
Especially
rtable::rt_genid
is also read by the contexts which have a reference count acquired
already.
When dst_entry:__refcnt is incremented or decremented via an atomic
operation these read accesses stall. This was found when analysing the
memtier benchmark in 1:100 mode, which amplifies the problem extremly.
Move the rt[6i]_uncached[_list] members out of struct rtable and struct
rt6_info into struct dst_entry to provide padding and move the lwtstate
member after that so it ends up in the same cache line.
The resulting improvement depends on the micro-architecture and the number
of CPUs. It ranges from +20% to +120% with a localhost memtier/memcached
benchmark.

In IPv4 setting the "disable_policy" flag on a device means no policy
should be enforced for traffic originating from the device. This was
implemented by seting the DST_NOPOLICY flag in the dst based on the
originating device.
However, dsts are cached in nexthops regardless of the originating
devices, in which case, the DST_NOPOLICY flag value may be incorrect.
Consider the following setup:
+------------------------------+
| ROUTER |
+-------------+ | +-----------------+ |
| ipsec src |----|-|ipsec0 | |
+-------------+ | |disable_policy=0 | +----+ |
| +-----------------+ |eth1|-|-----
+-------------+ | +-----------------+ +----+ |
| noipsec src |----|-|eth0 | |
+-------------+ | |disable_policy=1 | |
| +-----------------+ |
+------------------------------+
Where ROUTER has a default route towards eth1.
dst entries for traffic arriving from eth0 would have DST_NOPOLICY
and would be cached and therefore can be reused by traffic originating
from ipsec0, skipping policy check.
Fix by setting a IPSKB_NOPOLICY flag in IPCB and observing it instead
of the DST in IN/FWD IPv4 policy checks.

All the *_redirect() and *_update_pmtu() functions initialise their
struct flowi4 variable with either __build_flow_key() or
build_sk_flow_key(). When sk is provided, these functions use
RT_CONN_FLAGS() to set ->flowi4_tos and always use RT_SCOPE_UNIVERSE
for ->flowi4_scope. Then they rely on ip_rt_fix_tos() to adjust the
scope based on the RTO_ONLINK bit and to mask the tos with
IPTOS_RT_MASK.
This patch modifies __build_flow_key() and build_sk_flow_key() to
properly initialise ->flowi4_tos and ->flowi4_scope, so that the
ICMP redirects and PMTU handlers don't need an extra call to
ip_rt_fix_tos() before doing a fib lookup. That is, we:
* Drop RT_CONN_FLAGS(): use ip_sock_rt_tos() and ip_sock_rt_scope()
instead, so that we don't have to rely on ip_rt_fix_tos() to adjust
the scope anymore.
* Apply IPTOS_RT_MASK to the tos, so that we don't need
ip_rt_fix_tos() to do it for us.
* Drop the ip_rt_fix_tos() calls that now become useless.
The only remaining ip_rt_fix_tos() caller is ip_route_output_key_hash()
which needs it as long as external callers still use the RTO_ONLINK
flag.
Note:
This patch also drops some useless RT_TOS() calls as IPTOS_RT_MASK is
a stronger mask.

All callers already initialise ->flowi4_scope with RT_SCOPE_UNIVERSE,
either by manual field assignment, memset(0) of the whole structure or
implicit structure initialisation of on-stack variables
(RT_SCOPE_UNIVERSE actually equals 0).
Therefore, we don't need to always initialise ->flowi4_scope in
ip_rt_fix_tos(). We only need to reduce the scope to RT_SCOPE_LINK when
the special RTO_ONLINK flag is present in the tos.
This will allow some code simplification, like removing
ip_rt_fix_tos(). Also, the long term idea is to remove RTO_ONLINK
entirely by properly initialising ->flowi4_scope, instead of
overloading ->flowi4_tos with a special flag. Eventually, this will
allow to convert ->flowi4_tos to dscp_t.
