6c3eba1c5e bpf: Centralize permissions checks for all BPF map types
This allows to do more centralized decisions later on, and generally
makes it very explicit which maps are privileged and which are not
(e.g., LRU_HASH and LRU_PERCPU_HASH, which are privileged HASH variants,
as opposed to unprivileged HASH and HASH_PERCPU; now this is explicit
and easy to verify).

d7ba4cc900 bpf: return long from bpf_map_ops funcs
This patch changes the return types of bpf_map_ops functions to long, where
previously int was returned. Using long allows for bpf programs to maintain
the sign bit in the absence of sign extension during situations where
inlined bpf helper funcs make calls to the bpf_map_ops funcs and a negative
error is returned.

The definitions of the helper funcs are generated from comments in the bpf
uapi header at `include/uapi/linux/bpf.h`. The return type of these
helpers was previously changed from int to long in commit bdb7b79b4c. For
any case where one of the map helpers call the bpf_map_ops funcs that are
still returning 32-bit int, a compiler might not include sign extension
instructions to properly convert the 32-bit negative value a 64-bit
negative value.

For example:
bpf assembly excerpt of an inlined helper calling a kernel function and
checking for a specific error:

; err = bpf_map_update_elem(&mymap, &key, &val, BPF_NOEXIST);
  ...
  46:	call   0xffffffffe103291c	; htab_map_update_elem
; if (err && err != -EEXIST) {
  4b:	cmp    $0xffffffffffffffef,%rax ; cmp -EEXIST,%rax

kernel function assembly excerpt of return value from
`htab_map_update_elem` returning 32-bit int:

movl $0xffffffef, %r9d
...
movl %r9d, %eax

...results in the comparison:
cmp $0xffffffffffffffef, $0x00000000ffffffef

cbb9b6068c bpf: stackmap memory usage
A new helper is introduced to get stackmap memory usage. Some small
memory allocations are ignored as their memory size is quite small
compared to the totol usage.

The result as follows,

        key 4B  value 8B  max_entries 65536  memlock 1048576B

16817ad7e8 perf/bpf: Always use perf callchains if exist
If the perf_event has PERF_SAMPLE_CALLCHAIN, BPF can use it for stack trace.
The problematic cases like PEBS and IBS already handled in the PMU driver and
they filled the callchain info in the sample data. For others, we can call
perf_callchain() before the BPF handler.

c317ab71fa bpf: Compute map_btf_id during build time
For now, the field 'map_btf_id' in 'struct bpf_map_ops' for all map

b45043192b bpf: Fix excessive memory allocation in stack_map_alloc()
The 'n_buckets * (value_size + sizeof(struct stack_map_bucket))' part of the
allocated memory for 'smap' is never used after the memlock accounting was
removed, thus get rid of it.

[ Note, Daniel:

Commit b936ca643a ("bpf: rework memlock-based memory accounting for maps")
moved `cost += n_buckets * (value_size + sizeof(struct stack_map_bucket))`
up and therefore before the bpf_map_area_alloc() allocation, sigh. In a later
step commit c85d69135a ("bpf: move memory size checks to bpf_map_charge_init()"),
and the overflow checks of `cost >= U32_MAX - PAGE_SIZE` moved into
bpf_map_charge_init(). And then 370868107b ("bpf: Eliminate rlimit-based
memory accounting for stackmap maps") finally removed the bpf_map_charge_init().
Anyway, the original code did the allocation same way as /after/ this fix. ]

ee2a098851 bpf: Adjust BPF stack helper functions to accommodate skip > 0
Let's say that the caller has storage for num_elem stack frames. Then,
the BPF stack helper functions walk the stack for only num_elem frames.
This means that if skip > 0, one keeps only 'num_elem - skip' frames.

This is because it sets init_nr in the perf_callchain_entry to the end
of the buffer to save num_elem entries only. I believe it was because
the perf callchain code unwound the stack frames until it reached the
global max size (sysctl_perf_event_max_stack).

However it now has perf_callchain_entry_ctx.max_stack to limit the
iteration locally. This simplifies the code to handle init_nr in the
BPF callstack entries and removes the confusion with the perf_event's
__PERF_SAMPLE_CALLCHAIN_EARLY which sets init_nr to 0.

Also change the comment on bpf_get_stack() in the header file to be
more explicit what the return value means.

ceac059ed4 bpf: Cache the last valid build_id
For binaries that are statically linked, consecutive stack frames are
likely to be in the same VMA and therefore have the same build id.

On a real-world workload, we observed that 66% of CPU cycles in
__bpf_get_stackid() were spent on build_id_parse() and find_vma().

As an optimization for this case, we can cache the previous frame's
VMA, if the new frame has the same VMA as the previous one, reuse the
previous one's build id.

We are holding the MM locks as reader across the entire loop, so we
don't need to worry about VMA going away.

Tested through "stacktrace_build_id" and "stacktrace_build_id_nmi" in
test_progs.

7c7e3d31e7 bpf: Introduce helper bpf_find_vma
In some profiler use cases, it is necessary to map an address to the
backing file, e.g., a shared library. bpf_find_vma helper provides a
flexible way to achieve this. bpf_find_vma maps an address of a task to
the vma (vm_area_struct) for this address, and feed the vma to an callback
BPF function. The callback function is necessary here, as we need to
ensure mmap_sem is unlocked.

It is necessary to lock mmap_sem for find_vma. To lock and unlock mmap_sem
safely when irqs are disable, we use the same mechanism as stackmap with
build_id. Specifically, when irqs are disabled, the unlocked is postponed
in an irq_work. Refactor stackmap.c so that the irq_work is shared among
bpf_find_vma and stackmap helpers.

The warning is due to commit 5b78ed24e8 ("mm/pagemap: add mmap_assert_locked()
annotations to find_vma*()") which added mmap_assert_locked() in find_vma()
function. The mmap_assert_locked() function asserts that mm->mmap_lock needs
to be held. But this is not the case for bpf_get_stack() or bpf_get_stackid()
helper (kernel/bpf/stackmap.c), which uses mmap_read_trylock_non_owner()
instead. Since mm->mmap_lock is not held in bpf_get_stack[id]() use case,
the above warning is emitted during test run.

This patch fixed the issue by (1). using mmap_read_trylock() instead of
mmap_read_trylock_non_owner() to satisfy lockdep checking in find_vma(), and
(2). droping lockdep for mmap_lock right before the irq_work_queue(). The
function mmap_read_trylock_non_owner() is also removed since after this
patch nobody calls it any more.

06ab134ce8 bpf: Refcount task stack in bpf_get_task_stack
On x86 the struct pt_regs * grabbed by task_pt_regs() points to an
offset of task->stack. The pt_regs are later dereferenced in
__bpf_get_stack (e.g. by user_mode() check). This can cause a fault if
the task in question exits while bpf_get_task_stack is executing, as
warned by task_stack_page's comment:

* When accessing the stack of a non-current task that might exit, use
* try_get_task_stack() instead.  task_stack_page will return a pointer
* that could get freed out from under you.

Taking the comment's advice and using try_get_task_stack() and
put_task_stack() to hold task->stack refcount, or bail early if it's
already 0. Incrementing stack_refcount will ensure the task's stack
sticks around while we're using its data.

I noticed this bug while testing a bpf task iter similar to
bpf_iter_task_stack in selftests, except mine grabbed user stack, and
getting intermittent crashes, which resulted in dumps like:

9436ef6e86 bpf: Allow specifying a BTF ID per argument in function protos
Function prototypes using ARG_PTR_TO_BTF_ID currently use two ways to signal
which BTF IDs are acceptable. First, bpf_func_proto.btf_id is an array of
IDs, one for each argument. This array is only accessed up to the highest
numbered argument that uses ARG_PTR_TO_BTF_ID and may therefore be less than
five arguments long. It usually points at a BTF_ID_LIST. Second, check_btf_id
is a function pointer that is called by the verifier if present. It gets the
actual BTF ID of the register, and the argument number we're currently checking.
It turns out that the only user check_arg_btf_id ignores the argument, and is
simply used to check whether the BTF ID has a struct sock_common at it's start.

Replace both of these mechanisms with an explicit BTF ID for each argument
in a function proto. Thanks to btf_struct_ids_match this is very flexible:
check_arg_btf_id can be replaced by requiring struct sock_common.

f4d0525921 bpf: Add map_meta_equal map ops
Some properties of the inner map is used in the verification time.
When an inner map is inserted to an outer map at runtime,
bpf_map_meta_equal() is currently used to ensure those properties
of the inserting inner map stays the same as the verification
time.

In particular, the current bpf_map_meta_equal() checks max_entries which
turns out to be too restrictive for most of the maps which do not use
max_entries during the verification time. It limits the use case that
wants to replace a smaller inner map with a larger inner map. There are
some maps do use max_entries during verification though. For example,
the map_gen_lookup in array_map_ops uses the max_entries to generate
the inline lookup code.

To accommodate differences between maps, the map_meta_equal is added
to bpf_map_ops. Each map-type can decide what to check when its
map is used as an inner map during runtime.

Also, some map types cannot be used as an inner map and they are
currently black listed in bpf_map_meta_alloc() in map_in_map.c.
It is not unusual that the new map types may not aware that such
blacklist exists. This patch enforces an explicit opt-in
and only allows a map to be used as an inner map if it has
implemented the map_meta_equal ops. It is based on the
discussion in [1].

All maps that support inner map has its map_meta_equal points
to bpf_map_meta_equal in this patch. A later patch will
relax the max_entries check for most maps. bpf_types.h
counts 28 map types. This patch adds 23 ".map_meta_equal"
by using coccinelle.  -5 for
	BPF_MAP_TYPE_PROG_ARRAY
	BPF_MAP_TYPE_(PERCPU)_CGROUP_STORAGE
	BPF_MAP_TYPE_STRUCT_OPS
	BPF_MAP_TYPE_ARRAY_OF_MAPS
	BPF_MAP_TYPE_HASH_OF_MAPS

The "if (inner_map->inner_map_meta)" check in bpf_map_meta_alloc()
is moved such that the same error is returned.

b33164f2bd bpf: Iterate through all PT_NOTE sections when looking for build id
Currently when we look for build id within bpf_get_stackid helper
call, we check the first NOTE section and we fail if build id is
not there.

However on some system (Fedora) there can be multiple NOTE sections
in binaries and build id data is not always the first one, like:

  $ readelf -a /usr/bin/ls
  ...
  [ 2] .note.gnu.propert NOTE             0000000000000338  00000338

  [ 3] .note.gnu.build-i NOTE             0000000000000358  00000358
       0000000000000024  0000000000000000   A       0     0     437c
  [ 4] .note.ABI-tag     NOTE             000000000000037c  0000037c
  ...

So the stack_map_get_build_id function will fail on build id retrieval
and fallback to BPF_STACK_BUILD_ID_IP.

This patch is changing the stack_map_get_build_id code to iterate
through all the NOTE sections and try to get build id data from
each of them.

When tracing on sched_switch tracepoint that does bpf_get_stackid

fa28dcb82a bpf: Introduce helper bpf_get_task_stack()
Introduce helper bpf_get_task_stack(), which dumps stack trace of given
task. This is different to bpf_get_stack(), which gets stack track of
current task. One potential use case of bpf_get_task_stack() is to call
it from bpf_iter__task and dump all /proc/<pid>/stack to a seq_file.

bpf_get_task_stack() uses stack_trace_save_tsk() instead of
get_perf_callchain() for kernel stack. The benefit of this choice is that
stack_trace_save_tsk() doesn't require changes in arch/. The downside of
using stack_trace_save_tsk() is that stack_trace_save_tsk() dumps the
stack trace to unsigned long array. For 32-bit systems, we need to
translate it to u64 array.

bba1dc0b55 bpf: Remove redundant synchronize_rcu.
bpf_free_used_maps() or close(map_fd) will trigger map_free callback.
bpf_free_used_maps() is called after bpf prog is no longer executing:
bpf_prog_put->call_rcu->bpf_prog_free->bpf_free_used_maps.
Hence there is no need to call synchronize_rcu() to protect map elements.

Note that hash_of_maps and array_of_maps update/delete inner maps via
sys_bpf() that calls maybe_wait_bpf_programs() and synchronize_rcu().

0cc55a0213 mmap locking API: add mmap_read_trylock_non_owner()
Add a couple APIs used by kernel/bpf/stackmap.c only:
- mmap_read_trylock_non_owner()
- mmap_read_unlock_non_owner() (may be called from a work queue).

It's still not ideal that bpf/stackmap subverts the lock ownership in this
way. Thanks to Peter Zijlstra for suggesting this API as the least-ugly
way of addressing this in the short term.

2c78ee898d bpf: Implement CAP_BPF
Implement permissions as stated in uapi/linux/capability.h
In order to do that the verifier allow_ptr_leaks flag is split
into four flags and they are set as:
  env->allow_ptr_leaks = bpf_allow_ptr_leaks();
  env->bypass_spec_v1 = bpf_bypass_spec_v1();
  env->bypass_spec_v4 = bpf_bypass_spec_v4();
  env->bpf_capable = bpf_capable();

The first three currently equivalent to perfmon_capable(), since leaking kernel
pointers and reading kernel memory via side channel attacks is roughly
equivalent to reading kernel memory with cap_perfmon.

'bpf_capable' enables bounded loops, precision tracking, bpf to bpf calls and
other verifier features. 'allow_ptr_leaks' enable ptr leaks, ptr conversions,
subtraction of pointers. 'bypass_spec_v1' disables speculative analysis in the
verifier, run time mitigations in bpf array, and enables indirect variable
access in bpf programs. 'bypass_spec_v4' disables emission of sanitation code
by the verifier.

That means that the networking BPF program loaded with CAP_BPF + CAP_NET_ADMIN
will have speculative checks done by the verifier and other spectre mitigation
applied. Such networking BPF program will not be able to leak kernel pointers
and will not be able to access arbitrary kernel memory.

In the longer term, it might be possible to provide a atomic friendly

if the pages are resident and don't need to be paged in.

This can be reproduced by:
1. Start a multi-thread program that does parallel mmap() and malloc();
2. taskset the program to 2 CPUs;
3. Attach bpf program to trace_sched_switch and gather stackmap with
   build-id, e.g. with trace.py from bcc tools:
   trace.py -U -p <pid> -s <some-bin,some-lib> t:sched:sched_switch

A sample reproducer is attached at the end.

This could also trigger deadlock with other locks that are nested with
rq_lock.

Fix this by checking whether irqs are disabled. Since rq_lock and all
other nested locks are irq safe, it is safe to do up_read() when irqs are
not disable. If the irqs are disabled, postpone up_read() in irq_work.

b936ca643a bpf: rework memlock-based memory accounting for maps
In order to unify the existing memlock charging code with the
memcg-based memory accounting, which will be added later, let's
rework the current scheme.

Currently the following design is used:
  1) .alloc() callback optionally checks if the allocation will likely
     succeed using bpf_map_precharge_memlock()
  2) .alloc() performs actual allocations
  3) .alloc() callback calculates map cost and sets map.memory.pages
  4) map_create() calls bpf_map_init_memlock() which sets map.memory.user
     and performs actual charging; in case of failure the map is
     destroyed
  <map is in use>
  1) bpf_map_free_deferred() calls bpf_map_release_memlock(), which
     performs uncharge and releases the user
  2) .map_free() callback releases the memory

The scheme can be simplified and made more robust:
  1) .alloc() calculates map cost and calls bpf_map_charge_init()
  2) bpf_map_charge_init() sets map.memory.user and performs actual
    charge
  3) .alloc() performs actual allocations
  <map is in use>
  1) .map_free() callback releases the memory
  2) bpf_map_charge_finish() performs uncharge and releases the user

The new scheme also allows to reuse bpf_map_charge_init()/finish()
functions for memcg-based accounting. Because charges are performed
before actual allocations and uncharges after freeing the memory,
no bogus memory pressure can be created.

In cases when the map structure is not available (e.g. it's not
created yet, or is already destroyed), on-stack bpf_map_memory
structure is used. The charge can be transferred with the
bpf_map_charge_move() function.

since rw_semaphore is released in a different task vs task that locked the sema.
It is expected behavior.
Fix the warning with up_read_non_owner() and rwsem_release() annotation.

4af396ae48 bpf: zero out build_id for BPF_STACK_BUILD_ID_IP
When returning BPF_STACK_BUILD_ID_IP from stack_map_get_build_id_offset,
make sure that build_id field is empty. Since we are using percpu
free list, there is a possibility that we might reuse some previous
bpf_stack_build_id with non-zero build_id.

0b698005a9 bpf: don't assume build-id length is always 20 bytes
Build-id length is not fixed to 20, it can be (`man ld` /--build-id):
  * 128-bit (uuid)
  * 160-bit (sha1)
  * any length specified in ld --build-id=0xhexstring

To fix the issue of missing BPF_STACK_BUILD_ID_VALID for shorter build-ids,
assume that build-id is somewhere in the range of 1 .. 20.
Set the remaining bytes to zero.

v2:
* don't introduce new "len = min(BPF_BUILD_ID_SIZE, nhdr->n_descsz)",
  we already know that nhdr->n_descsz <= BPF_BUILD_ID_SIZE if we enter
  this 'if' condition
