The Si2157 tuner supports ATSC in addition to DVB-T and DVB-C. Extend
minimum frequency range to cover the complete ATSC/QAM-B range.

The powerpc arch code enables PCI_COMMAND_MEMORY (and has done so for
more than 10 years at least !) on pci_enable_device() and the hackery
on the MMIO accessor is useless as well, our writel does everything
this driver should need.

If a subdevice pad op is called from a bridge driver, then there is
no v4l2_subdev_fh struct that can be passed to the subdevice. This
made it hard to use such subdevs from a bridge driver.
This patch replaces the v4l2_subdev_fh pointer by a v4l2_subdev_pad_config
pointer in the pad ops. This allows bridge drivers to use the various
try_ pad ops by creating a v4l2_subdev_pad_config struct and passing it
along to the pad op.
The v4l2_subdev_get_try_* macros had to be changed because of this, so
I also took the opportunity to use the full name of the v4l2_subdev_get_try_*
functions in the __V4L2_SUBDEV_MK_GET_TRY macro arguments: if you now do
'git grep v4l2_subdev_get_try_format' you will actually find the header
where it is defined.
One remark regarding the drivers/staging/media/davinci_vpfe patches: the
*_init_formats() functions assumed that fh could be NULL. However, that's
not true for this driver, it's always set. This is almost certainly a copy
and paste from the omap3isp driver. I've updated the code to reflect the
fact that fh is never NULL.

Since 39b2bbe3d7 (gpio: add flags argument to gpiod_get*() functions)
which appeared in v3.17-rc1, the gpiod_get* functions take an additional
parameter that allows to specify direction and initial value for output.
Simplify accordingly.
Moreover use devm_gpiod_get_index_optional instead of
devm_gpiod_get_index with ignoring all errors.

the declaration for omap_vout_setup_vrfb_bufs() said it
needed 'u32 static_vrfb_allocation' but definition
took 'bool static_vrfb_allocation', this patch fixes the
declaration so that it matches with the definition and
pass a bool instead of int to the call, also included
omap_vout_vrfb.h in omap_vout_vrfb.c file so that sparse doesn't
complain of making omap_vout_setup_vrfb_bufs() as static function.

Embed video_device structs vdev and vbi_dev in au0828_dev.
With this change, dynamic allocation and error path logic
in au0828_analog_register() is removed as it doesn't need
to allocate and handle allocation errors. Unregister path
doesn't need to free the now static video_device structures,
hence, changed video_device.release in au0828_video_template
to point to video_device_release_empty.

The vbi_buffer_filled() and buffer_filled() did the same functionality
except for incrementing the buffer sequence, this patch drops the
vbi_buffer_filled() and re-uses buffer_filled() for vbi buffers
as well by adding the check for vb2-queue type while incrementing
the sequence numbers. Along side this patch aligns the input parameters
of buffer_filled() function appropriately.

Use pr_foo() where there's a direct replacement. For debug, use
custom-made macros, for now, as there are 3 different debug levels.
We should get rid of those some day, specially since several such
macros can be just removed, as Kernel trace would provide about
the same output.

Several (15) drivers in media/usb/gspca use IF_ENABLED(CONFIG_INPUT)
to decide if they should call input* interfaces, but those drivers
do not build successfully when CONFIG_INPUT=m and the gspca drivers
are builtin (=y). Making USB_GSPCA depend on INPUT || INPUT=n
fixes the build dependencies and allows all of them to build
cleanly.

The handling of VIDIOC_G/S_PRIORITY is now entirely done by the V4L2
core, so we can drop the g/s_priority ioctl ops.
We do have to make sure though that when S_PRIORITY is called we check
that the driver used struct v4l2_fh. This check can be removed once all
drivers are converted to that structure.

To keep V4L2 drivers that did not yet convert to unlocked_ioctl happy,
the v4l2 core had a .ioctl file operation that took a V4L2 lock.
The last drivers are now converted to unlocked_ioctl, so all this
old code can now be removed.

It is confusing which parts of the driver are adv7604 specific, adv7611
specific or common for both. This patch renames any adv7604 prefixes (both
for functions and defines) to adv76xx whenever they are common.

FM (frequency modulated) signal for SDR is generated by varying the
phase, where phase variation is proportional to input signal. It is
seen that, the larger phase increments leads to discontinuities in
the signal recovered after demodulation. Reducing the extent of phase
variation with respect to input signal, equivalent to reducing the
modulation index.
Tested using FM receiver flow graph in gnuradio-companion.

The common implementation for sin/cos in include/linux/fixp-arith.h
has been improved recently to provide higher precision.
Replacing native implementation of sin/cos in vivid sdr with common
implementation. This serves two purposes:
1. Improved accuracy: the native implementation based on the Taylor
series is more prone to rounding errors.
2. Reuse of common function: this is better compared to maintaining
native versions for each driver.

The cos table used at fixp-arith.h has only 8 bits of precision.
That causes problems if it is reused on other drivers.
As some media drivers require a higher precision sin/cos
implementation, replace the current implementation by one that
will provide 32 bits precision.
The values generated by the new implementation matches the
32 bit precision of glibc's sin for an angle measured in
integer degrees.
It also provides support for fractional angles via linear
interpolation. On experimental calculus, when used a table
with a 0.001 degree angle, the maximum error for sin is
0.000038, which is likely good enough for practical purposes.
There are some logic there that seems to be specific to the
usage inside ff-memless.c. Move those logic to there, as they're
not needed elsewhere.

In case allocation vb2_dma_sg_init_ctx() fails during cx8802_probe(), the
already allocated cx8802 device structure memory is not freed in the used

Commit 244829226f ("[media] timberdale: do not select TIMB_DMA")
dropped the dependency of VIDEO_TIMBERDALE on DMADEVICES, and thus the

The burst length could be BEATS_4/8/16. Before this patch, isi use default
value BEATS_4. To imporve the performance we could set it to BEATS_16.
Otherwise sometime it would cause the ISI overflow error.

Stopping the vb2 thread (as used by several DVB devices) can result
in an 'UNBALANCED' warning such as this:
vb2: counters for queue ffff880407ee9828: UNBALANCED!
vb2: setup: 1 start_streaming: 1 stop_streaming: 1
vb2: wait_prepare: 249333 wait_finish: 249334
This is due to a race condition between stopping the thread and
calling vb2_internal_streamoff(). While I have not been able to deduce
the exact mechanism how this race condition can produce this warning,
I can see that the way the stream is stopped is likely to lead to a
race somewhere.
This patch simplifies how this is done by first ensuring that the
thread is completely stopped before cleaning up the vb2 queue. It
does that by setting threadio->stop to true, followed by a call to
vb2_queue_error() which will wake up the thread. The thread sees that
'stop' is true and it will exit.
The call to kthread_stop() waits until the thread has exited, and only
then is the queue cleaned up by calling __vb2_cleanup_fileio().
This is a much cleaner sequence and the warning has now disappeared.

This is really a simple function, but using it avoids to have
if's inside the drivers.
Also, the kABI becomes a little more clearer.
This shouldn't generate any overhead, and the type check
will happen when compiling with MC DVB enabled.

We need to initialize the media controller earlier, as the core
will call the smsdvb hotplug during register time. Ok, this is
an async operation, so, when the module is not loaded, the media
controller works.
However, if the module is already loaded, nothing will be
registered at the media controller, as it will load too late.

Adding support for the media controller for a pure DVB device
is simple: just create a struct media_device and add it to the
dvb adapter. After creating all DVB devices, we need to call
the DVB core, for it to create the media graph.
More work is needed for pure DVB tuners, but this is hidden
at the Siano driver, just like several others non-hybrid
devices. So, this is streight forward.

Analog video inputs are the tuner, plus composite, svideo, etc,
e. g. the input pat should actually be like:

In other words, if we want to properly represent the pipeline,
it should be possible to see via the media controller if the tuner
is being used as an image source, or if the source is something else.
I didn't map those other inputs here yet, due to a few things:
- The extra inputs would require subdevs that won't be controlled
- I was in doubt about the best way for doing that
- That would likely require some extra setup for cx25840 caller
drivers, in order to represent what of the possible internal
inputs are actually used on each specific board
Actually, at least for now, I was unable to see much benefit
on adding such map now, so let's just document it, as this could
be added later on, as needed.

Decrementing the reference count of the previous endpoint node allows to
use the of_graph_get_next_endpoint function in a for_each_... style macro.
All current users of this function that pass a non-NULL prev parameter
(that is, soc_camera and imx-drm) are changed to not decrement the passed
prev argument's refcount themselves.

While the DVB thread is running, the media pipeline should be
streaming. This should prevent any attempt of using the analog
TV while digital TV is working, and vice-versa.

If the dvb frontend thread starts, the tuner should be switched
to the frontend. Add a code that ensures that this will happen,
using the media controller.

For now, let's keep the DVB-specific media controller links enabled
by default. On most devices, this is fixed anyway, so no big issue.
Ok, the demux actually have dynamic links based on the filters, but
we don't represent them yet, as the media controller currently lacks
the capability of dynamically create/delete entities.

cx231xx is simple with regards to DVB: all boards have just one
DVB adapter. So, we can use the default DVB helper function to
create the DVB media graph.

We need to create a DVB graph, linking the several DVB devnodes.
Add such function. Please notice that this helper function
doesn't take into account devices with multiple DVB adapters
and frontends.
For devices with multiple adapters, they should either create two
different media controller instances or to improve this function
to take the adapter ID into account.

While on some devices the tuner is bound inside the frontend,
other devices use a separate subdevice for it.
So, in order to be more generic, better to map it with two
pads.
That will allows to use the media controller to lock the tuner
between the DVB and the V4L2 sub-drivers, on hybrid devices.
While here, change the logic to use pad 0 as sink for devices
with both sink and source pads.

We want to represent the links between the several DVB devnodes,
so let's create PADs for them.
The DVB net devnode is a different matter, as it is not related

Let's add media controller support for this driver and register it
for both V4L and DVB.
The media controller on this driver is not mandatory, as it can fully
work without it. So, if the media controller register fails, just print
an error message, but proceed with device registering.

The previous provision for DVB media controller support were to
define an ID (likely meaning the adapter number) for the DVB
devnodes.
This is just plain wrong. Just like V4L, DVB devices (and any other
device node)) are uniquely identified via a (major, minor) tuple.
This is enough to uniquely identify a devnode, no matter what
API it implements.
So, before we go too far, let's mark the old v4l, fb, dvb and alsa
"devnode" info as deprecated, and just call it as "dev".
We can latter add fields specific to each API if needed.
As we don't want to break compilation on already existing apps,
let's just keep the old definitions as-is, adding a note that
those are deprecated at media-entity.h.

As reported by Peter Kovar, there's a potential risk of a division by
zero on calls to jpeg_set_qual() when quality is zero.
As quality can't be 0 or lower than that, add an extra clause to cover
this special case.

This patch should is based on Antti's silabs branch.
According to dvb-frontend.h set_frontend may be called with bandwidth_hz set to 0 if automatic bandwidth is required. Si2168 does not support automatic bandwidth and does not declare FE_CAN_BANDWIDTH_AUTO in caps.
This patch will change the behaviour in a way that EINVAL is returned if bandwidth_hz is 0.

Create dm04_read_status to check lock through either interrupt values
or directly by the call back.
When the device is not streaming the frontends original call back is
used. When streaming has started it turns off I2C messaging by
setting st->i2c_talk_onoff to zero. I2C can only be turn on again
by one of the other allowed frontend calls.
All old code is removed from lme2510_msg and this function only needs
to set st->i2c_talk_onoff to 1.
The lock status is saved and when the frondend is locked is maintained
by lme2510_int_response who will now just kill the lock.
The call back for rs2000 tuner is nologer required.
All frontend types have been tested.

A quirk of some older firmwares that report endpoint pipe type as PIPE_BULK
but the endpoint otheriwse functions as interrupt.
Check if usb_endpoint_type is USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_BULK and set as usb_rcvbulkpipe.

Ocassionally the device fails to report back an interrupt urb status which
results in false no lock trigger on the RS2000 demodulator.
Increase time from 60 msecs to 200 msecs.

There was 2 muxed I2C adapters, one for demod tuner bus and one for
internal use. Idea of internal I2C adapter was to force I2C repeater
close when demod access its registers. Driver has also delayed work
queue based method to close I2C repeater.
After regmap conversion internal I2C adapter based repeater close
left unused - only work queue method was in use. We could not use
internal mux adapter method with regmap as it makes recursive regmap
call, which causes deadlock as regmap has own locking. Due to that
remove whole method totally.

We are consumer of DVB frontend provided by rtl28xxu module. Due to
that we must use refcount to ensure none could remove rtl28xxu when
we are alive (or when we are streaming, if more fine-grained
refcounting is wanted).

This driver, rtl28xxu, offers frontend service for rtl2832_sdr
module, thus we are producer and rtl2832_sdr module is consumer.
Due to that, reference counting should be done in way rtl2832_sdr
takes refrence to rtl28xxu. Remove wrong refcount.

DVB FE callback functionality went broken after I moved tuners to
demod muxed I2C adapter. That happens because driver state was
carried by I2C adapter and when mux is used there is one adapter
more in a chain.

Put demod to soft reset in order to save power when sleep. That drops
power usage ~30mA @5V on USB dongle I tested. In real life it does
not matter much as USB IF powers off demod too, but now it is done
twice - demod and USB IF.

That SDR driver module was abusing DVB frontend SEC (satellite
equipment controller) device and due to that it was also using
legacy DVB binding. Platform bus is pseudo-bus provided by kernel
driver model and it fits cases like that, where any other busses
are not suitable.

Chips uses 8-bit register addresses with 5 pages. Extend register
address by using register page as a first byte of address, defining
virtual register addresses. That is common method of handling
register pages and regmap also uses it. Remove page + address
conversion glue which was there for regmap.

There is no need to do software reset on init() as it is done a bit
later on end of set_frontend(). Software reset usually means
restarting (resetting to starting point) chip internal state machine
(FSM). Naturally it is done after all parameters are programmed.

Demod lock flags are derived from demod state machine states. States
are running from 1 to 11, where highest state 11 means demod is
fully locked and streaming. Naturally smaller state numbers means
there is some partial locks.
Define now state 10 as missing synch and lock.

Own I2C locking is needed due to two special reasons:
1) Chips uses multiple register pages/banks on single I2C slave.
Page is changed via I2C register access.
2) Chip offers muxed/gated I2C adapter for tuner. Gate/mux is
controlled by I2C register access.
Due to these reasons, I2C locking did not fit very well.

Convert au0828 to use videobuf2. Tested with NTSC.
Tested video and vbi devices with xawtv, tvtime,
and vlc. Ran v4l2-compliance to ensure there are
no failures.

au0828_analog_register() frees au0828_dev when it fails to
locate isoc endpoint. au0828_usb_probe() continues with dvb
and rc probe and registration assuming dev is still valid.
When au0828_analog_register() fails to locate isoc endpoint,
it should return without free'ing au0828_dev. Otherwise, the
probe will fail as dev is null when au0828_dvb_register() is
called.

In fast switch mode the adv7180 (and similar) can lock onto a new signal
faster when switching between different inputs. As a downside though it is
no longer able to auto-detect the incoming format.
The fast switch mode is exposed as a boolean v4l control that allows
userspace applications to either enable or disable fast switch mode.

Some of the devices supported by this driver have a interlaced-to-
progressive converter which can optionally be enabled. This patch adds
support for enabling and disabling the I2P converter on such devices.
I2P mode can be enabled by selecting V4L2_FIELD_NONE instead of
V4L2_FIELD_INTERLACED for the format.

This patch adds support for the adv7280-m/adv2781-m/adv7281-ma/adv7282-m
devices to the adv7180 driver. They are very similar to the
adv7280/adv7281/adv7282 but instead of parallel video out they feature a
MIPI CSI2 transmitter.
The CSI2 transmitter is configured via a separate I2C address, so we need to
register a dummy device for it.

The adv7180 is part of a larger family of device, which have all a very
similar register map layout. This patch prepares the adv7180 driver for
support for multiple different devices. For now the only difference we care
about is the number of input channel configurations. Also the way the input
format is configured slightly differs between some devices.

Add media controller support to the adv7180 driver by registering a media
entity instance for it as well as implementing pad ops for configuring the
format.
As there currently don't seem to be any users of the video ops format
operations those are removed as well in this patch.
Also set the V4L2_SUBDEV_FL_HAS_DEVNODE flag for the subdevice so it is
possible to create a subdevice device node.
Since the driver now depends on VIDEO_V4L2_SUBDEV_API all drivers which
select the driver need to depend on that symbol as well.

The ad7180 has multiple register pages which can be switched between by
writing to a register. Currently the driver manually switches between pages
whenever a register outside of the default register map is accessed and
switches back after it has been accessed. This is a bit tedious and also
potential source for bugs.
This patch adds two helper functions that take care of switching between
pages and reading/writing the register. The register numbers for registers
are updated to encode both the page (in the upper 8-bits) and the register
(in the lower 8-bits) numbers.
Having multiple pages means that a register access is not a single atomic
i2c_smbus_write_byte_data() or i2c_smbus_read_byte_data() call and we need
to make sure that concurrent register access does not race against each
other.

Most IRQ controllers support different types of interrupts. The adv7180
generates falling edge interrupts, so make sure to pass IRQF_TRIGGER_FALLING
to request_threaded_irq() so the IRQ controller is configured for the
correct mode.

Currently the IRQ is requested from within the init_device() function. This
function is not only called during device probe, but also during resume
causing the driver to try to request the IRQ again. Move requesting the IRQ
from init_device() to the probe function to make sure that it is only
requested once.

a 'select' statement. If one of these drivers is built-in, but
the v4l2 core is a loadable modules, we end up with a link

sense when combined with the SMS_SIANO_MDTV driver. That driver

The timberdale media driver requires the use of the respective
dma engine driver, but that may not be enabled, causing a
Kconfig warning:

This fixes the dependency by removing the inappropriate 'select'

code. However, it introduced a new error:

Commit b7085c0864 ("cx231xx: convert from pr_foo to dev_foo")
moves usb_get_dev(interface_to_usbdev(interface)) to the beginning
of cx231xx_usb_probe() to use udev->dev in dev_err(),
but it does not make sure usbdev is put on all failure paths.
Later dev_err(udev->dev) was replaced by dev_err(d).
So the patch moves usb_get_dev() below (before the first use)
and fixes another failure path.

This commit moves the "buffer in use" logic from the .buf_cleanup
handler into .stop_streaming, based on advice that this is its
proper logical home.
By ensuring the list of pointers in priv->queue_buf[] is managed
as soon as possible, we avoid warnings concerning buffers in ACTIVE
state when the system cleans up after streaming stops. This fixes a
problem with modification of buffers after their content has been
cleared for passing to userspace.
After the refactoring, the buf_init and buf_cleanup functions were
found to contain only initialisation/release steps as are carried out
elsewhere if omitted; these functions and references were removed.

The code that tests that capture from a stream has stopped is
presently insufficient and the potential for a race condition
exists where frame capture may generate an interrupt between
requesting the capture process halt and freeing buffers.
This patch refactors code out of rcar_vin_videobuf_release() and
into rcar_vin_wait_stop_streaming(), and ensures there are calls
in places where we need to know that capturing has finished.

This patch drops driver specific wait_prepare() and
wait_finish() callbacks from vb2_ops and instead uses
the the helpers vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finish() provided
by the vb2 core, the lock member of the queue needs
to be initalized to a mutex so that vb2 helpers
vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finish() can make use of it.

The BIT encoder does not use a per-context bitstream ringbuffer as it encodes
directly into the videobuf2 capture queue's buffers. Avoid allocation of the

Since we have to copy from input buffers into the bitstream ringbuffer
with the CPU, there is no need for contiguous DMA buffers on the decoder
input side.

On i.MX6, two subsampling ping-pong buffers are used for motion estimation and
deblocking They should not be counted as framebuffers, or they will be also used
to store reconstructed frames, causing visible artifacts in P-frames.

This patch queues seq_end_work and flushes the queue during stop_streaming
and clears the ctx->initialized flag. This allows to start streaming again
after stopping streaming without releasing the context.

The isequence counter is never used, qsequence counts the buffers queued into
the bit decoder bitstream ringbuffer. It needs to be reset in stop_streaming.

Clarify whether job_ready returns false because the context is on hold, waiting
for new input buffers, whether there are not enough input buffers to fill two
into the bitstream, or whether there is not enough data in the bitstream buffer
for the bitstream reader hardware to read a whole frame.

If userspace doesn't properly separate the bitstream input into
individual frames (which may happen for example on slightly
corrupted streams) the CODA hardware may decode more frames
than we expect. We already log an error in this case, but it's
also necessary to adjust the sequence offset. Otherwise we
spam the log with a sequence number mismatch on every frame
frame after the unexpected one.

Handle an empty buffer metadata list without crashing. This can happen
if the decoder is fed a broken stream, or multiple compressed frames in
a single queued buffer.

The MFC driver has two controls, DISPLAY_DELAY and DISPLAY_DELAY_ENABLE
that allow forcing the decoder to return a decoded frame sooner
regardless of the order. The added support for firmware version 6 and
higher was not taking into account the DISPLAY_DELAY_ENABLE boolean.
Instead it had a comment stating that DISPLAY_DELAY should be set to a
negative value to disable it. This is not possible since the control
range is from 0 to 65535. This feature was also supposed to be disabled
by default in order to produce frames in display order.

Carry struct i2c_client pointer in tuner_priv. This driver is I2C driver,
which is represented as a struct i2c_client, so better to carry this top
level structure for each routine in order to unify things.

All known old firmware firmware formats are downloaded using 8 byte
chunks. Reject firmware if it could not be divided to 8 byte chunks
and because of that we could simplify some calculations. Now both
supported firmware download routines are rather similar.

Use own label for kzalloc failure in which does not call kfree().
kfree() could be called with NULL, but it is still better to have
own label which skips unnecessary kfree().

Add support for controlling TP clock mode for VSB and QAM annex-B/C mode.
Gated clock mode is the default value, and does not support QAM annex-C.
The patch enables setting this control to fixed clock mode.

I found a problem on vc032x gspca usb webcam subdriver: "bytesperline"
property is wrong for YUYV and YVYU formats.
With recent v4l-utils library (>=0.9.1), that uses "bytesperline" for
pixel format conversion, the result is a wrong jerky image.
Patch tested on my laptop (USB webcam Logitech Orbicam 046d:0892).

"n" is a user controlled integer. The code here doesn't handle the case
where "n" is negative and this causes a static checker warning.
drivers/media/usb/gspca/gspca.c:1571 vidioc_s_parm()
warn: no lower bound on 'n'
parm.capture.readbuffers is unsigned, so make n unsigned too, fixing this.
