159f5bdadc debugfs: initialize cancellations earlier
Tetsuo Handa pointed out that in the (now reverted)
lockdep commit I initialized the data too late. The
same is true for the cancellation data, it must be
initialized before the cmpxchg(), otherwise it may
be done twice and possibly even overwriting data in
there already when there's a race. Fix that, which
also requires destroying the mutex in case we lost
the race.

8c88a47435 debugfs: add API to allow debugfs operations cancellation
In some cases there might be longer-running hardware accesses
in debugfs files, or attempts to acquire locks, and we want
to still be able to quickly remove the files.

Introduce a cancellations API to use inside the debugfs handler
functions to be able to cancel such operations on a per-file
basis.

f4acfcd4de debugfs: annotate debugfs handlers vs. removal with lockdep
When you take a lock in a debugfs handler but also try
to remove the debugfs file under that lock, things can
deadlock since the removal has to wait for all users
to finish.

Add lockdep annotations in debugfs_file_get()/_put()
to catch such issues.

0ed04a1847 debugfs: fix automount d_fsdata usage
debugfs_create_automount() stores a function pointer in d_fsdata,
but since commit 7c8d469877 ("debugfs: add support for more
elaborate ->d_fsdata") debugfs_release_dentry() will free it, now
conditionally on DEBUGFS_FSDATA_IS_REAL_FOPS_BIT, but that's not
set for the function pointer in automount. As a result, removing
an automount dentry would attempt to free the function pointer.
Luckily, the only user of this (tracing) never removes it.

Nevertheless, it's safer if we just handle the fsdata in one way,
namely either DEBUGFS_FSDATA_IS_REAL_FOPS_BIT or allocated. Thus,
change the automount to allocate it, and use the real_fops in the
data to indicate whether or not automount is filled, rather than
adding a type tag. At least for now this isn't actually needed,
but the next changes will require it.

Also check in debugfs_file_get() that it gets only called
on regular files, just to make things clearer.

71cd3c6364 fs: debugfs: Add write functionality to debugfs blobs
Currently, debugfs_create_blob() creates read-only debugfs binary blob
files.

In some cases, however, userspace tools need to write variable length
data structures into predetermined memory addresses. An example is when
injecting Vendor-defined error types through the einj module. In such
cases, the functionality to write to these blob files in debugfs would
be desired since the mapping aspect can be handled within the modules
with userspace tools only needing to write into the blob files.

Implement a write callback to enable writing to these blob files, created
in debugfs, by owners only.

7360a48bd0 debugfs: Fix __rcu type comparison warning
Sparse reports the following:

fs/debugfs/file.c:942:9: sparse: sparse: incompatible types in comparison expression (different address spaces):
fs/debugfs/file.c:942:9: sparse: char [noderef] __rcu *
fs/debugfs/file.c:942:9: sparse: char *

rcu_assign_pointer() expects that it's assigning to pointers annotated
with __rcu. We can't annotate the generic struct file::private_data, so
cast it instead.

86b5488121 debugfs: Add write support to debugfs_create_str()
Currently, debugfs_create_str() only supports reading strings from

Based on original implementation by Peter Zijlstra [0]. Write support
was present in the initial patch version, but dropped in v2 due to lack
of users. We have a user now, so reintroduce it.

d472cf797c debugfs: fix error when writing negative value to atomic_t debugfs file
The simple attribute files do not accept a negative value since the commit
488dac0c92 ("libfs: fix error cast of negative value in
simple_attr_write()"), so we have to use a 64-bit value to write a
negative value for a debugfs file created by debugfs_create_atomic_t().

This restores the previous behaviour by introducing
DEFINE_DEBUGFS_ATTRIBUTE_SIGNED for a signed value.

16b3d0cf5b Scheduler updates for this cycle are:
- Clean up SCHED_DEBUG: move the decades old mess of sysctl, procfs and debugfs interfaces
    to a unified debugfs interface.

  - Signals: Allow caching one sigqueue object per task, to improve performance & latencies.

  - Improve newidle_balance() irq-off latencies on systems with a large number of CPU cgroups.

  - Improve energy-aware scheduling

  - Improve the PELT metrics for certain workloads

  - Reintroduce select_idle_smt() to improve load-balancing locality - but without the previous
    regressions

  - Add 'scheduler latency debugging': warn after long periods of pending need_resched. This
is an opt-in feature that requires the enabling of the LATENCY_WARN scheduler feature,
or the use of the resched_latency_warn_ms=xx boot parameter.

  - CPU hotplug fixes for HP-rollback, and for the 'fail' interface. Fix remaining
    balance_push() vs. hotplug holes/races

  - PSI fixes, plus allow /proc/pressure/ files to be written by CAP_SYS_RESOURCE tasks as well

  - Fix/improve various load-balancing corner cases vs. capacity margins

  - Fix sched topology on systems with NUMA diameter of 3 or above

  - Fix PF_KTHREAD vs to_kthread() race

Pull scheduler updates from Ingo Molnar:

 - Clean up SCHED_DEBUG: move the decades old mess of sysctl, procfs and
debugfs interfaces to a unified debugfs interface.

 - Signals: Allow caching one sigqueue object per task, to improve
   performance & latencies.

 - Improve newidle_balance() irq-off latencies on systems with a large
   number of CPU cgroups.

 - Improve energy-aware scheduling

 - Improve the PELT metrics for certain workloads

 - Reintroduce select_idle_smt() to improve load-balancing locality -
   but without the previous regressions

 - Add 'scheduler latency debugging': warn after long periods of pending
need_resched. This is an opt-in feature that requires the enabling of
the LATENCY_WARN scheduler feature, or the use of the
   resched_latency_warn_ms=xx boot parameter.

 - CPU hotplug fixes for HP-rollback, and for the 'fail' interface. Fix
   remaining balance_push() vs. hotplug holes/races

 - PSI fixes, plus allow /proc/pressure/ files to be written by
   CAP_SYS_RESOURCE tasks as well

 - Fix/improve various load-balancing corner cases vs. capacity margins

 - Fix sched topology on systems with NUMA diameter of 3 or above

 - Fix PF_KTHREAD vs to_kthread() race

 - Minor rseq optimizations

 - Misc cleanups, optimizations, fixes and smaller updates

a2b992c828 debugfs: make sure we can remove u32_array files cleanly
debugfs_create_u32_array() allocates a small structure to wrap
the data and size information about the array. If users ever
try to remove the file this leads to a leak since nothing ever
frees this wrapper.

That said there are no upstream users of debugfs_create_u32_array()
that'd remove a u32 array file (we only have one u32 array user in
CMA), so there is no real bug here.

Make callers pass a wrapper they allocated. This way the lifetime
management of the wrapper is on the caller, and we can avoid the
potential leak in debugfs.

275678e7a9 debugfs: Check module state before warning in {full/open}_proxy_open()
When the module is being removed, the module state is set to
MODULE_STATE_GOING. At this point, try_module_get() fails.
And when {full/open}_proxy_open() is being called,
it calls try_module_get() to try to hold module reference count.
If it fails, it warns about the possibility of debugfs file leak.

If {full/open}_proxy_open() is called while the module is being removed,
it fails to hold the module.
So, It warns about debugfs file leak. But it is not the debugfs file
leak case. So, this patch just adds module state checking routine
in the {full/open}_proxy_open().

Test commands:
    #SHELL1
    while :
    do
        modprobe netdevsim
        echo 1 > /sys/bus/netdevsim/new_device
        modprobe -rv netdevsim
    done

    #SHELL2
    while :
    do
        cat /sys/kernel/debug/netdevsim/netdevsim1/ports/0/ipsec
    done

30332eeefe debugfs: regset32: Add Runtime PM support
Hardware registers of devices under control of power management cannot
be accessed at all times. If such a device is suspended, register
accesses may lead to undefined behavior, like reading bogus values, or
causing exceptions or system lock-ups.

Extend struct debugfs_regset32 with an optional field to let device
drivers specify the device the registers in the set belong to. This
allows debugfs_show_regset32() to make sure the device is resumed while
its registers are being read.

Change the return type to int and return -EPERM when lockdown is enabled
to remove the warning above. Also rename debugfs_is_locked_down to
debugfs_locked_down to make it sound less like it returns a boolean.

aefcf2f4b5 Merge branch 'next-lockdown' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jmorris/linux-security
Pull kernel lockdown mode from James Morris:
"This is the latest iteration of the kernel lockdown patchset, from
Matthew Garrett, David Howells and others.

  From the original description:

This patchset introduces an optional kernel lockdown feature,
intended to strengthen the boundary between UID 0 and the kernel.
When enabled, various pieces of kernel functionality are restricted.
Applications that rely on low-level access to either hardware or the
kernel may cease working as a result - therefore this should not be
    enabled without appropriate evaluation beforehand.

The majority of mainstream distributions have been carrying variants
of this patchset for many years now, so there's value in providing a
doesn't meet every distribution requirement, but gets us much closer
    to not requiring external patches.

There are two major changes since this was last proposed for mainline:

   - Separating lockdown from EFI secure boot. Background discussion is
     covered here: https://lwn.net/Articles/751061/

   - Implementation as an LSM, with a default stackable lockdown LSM
module. This allows the lockdown feature to be policy-driven,
rather than encoding an implicit policy within the mechanism.

The new locked_down LSM hook is provided to allow LSMs to make a
policy decision around whether kernel functionality that would allow
tampering with or examining the runtime state of the kernel should be
  permitted.

The included lockdown LSM provides an implementation with a simple
policy intended for general purpose use. This policy provides a coarse
level of granularity, controllable via the kernel command line:

    lockdown={integrity|confidentiality}

Enable the kernel lockdown feature. If set to integrity, kernel features
that allow userland to modify the running kernel are disabled. If set to
confidentiality, kernel features that allow userland to extract
confidential information from the kernel are also disabled.

This may also be controlled via /sys/kernel/security/lockdown and
  overriden by kernel configuration.

New or existing LSMs may implement finer-grained controls of the
lockdown features. Refer to the lockdown_reason documentation in
  include/linux/security.h for details.

The lockdown feature has had signficant design feedback and review
across many subsystems. This code has been in linux-next for some
weeks, with a few fixes applied along the way.

Stephen Rothwell noted that commit 9d1f8be5cf ("bpf: Restrict bpf
when kernel lockdown is in confidentiality mode") is missing a
Signed-off-by from its author. Matthew responded that he is providing

5496197f9b debugfs: Restrict debugfs when the kernel is locked down
Disallow opening of debugfs files that might be used to muck around when
the kernel is locked down as various drivers give raw access to hardware
through debugfs. Given the effort of auditing all 2000 or so files and
manually fixing each one as necessary, I've chosen to apply a heuristic
instead. The following changes are made:

 (1) chmod and chown are disallowed on debugfs objects (though the root dir
can be modified by mount and remount, but I'm not worried about that).

 (2) When the kernel is locked down, only files with the following criteria
     are permitted to be opened:

	- The file must have mode 00444
	- The file must not have ioctl methods
	- The file must not have mmap

 (3) When the kernel is locked down, files may only be opened for reading.

Normal device interaction should be done through configfs, sysfs or a
miscdev, not debugfs.

Note that this makes it unnecessary to specifically lock down show_dsts(),
show_devs() and show_call() in the asus-wmi driver.

I would actually prefer to lock down all files by default and have the
the files unlocked by the creator. This is tricky to manage correctly,
though, as there are 19 creation functions and ~1600 call sites (some of
them in loops scanning tables).
