dc9d888740 drivers/rtc/rtc-da9055.c: remove use of regmap_irq_get_virq()
Using platform_get_irq_byname() to retrieve the IRQ number returns the
VIRQ number rather than the local IRQ number for the device. Passing that
value then into regmap_irq_get_virq() causes a failure because the
function is expecting the local IRQ number (e.g. 0, 1, 2, 3, etc).

This patch removes use of regmap_irq_get_virq() to prevent this failure
from happening

e102dc7a54 rtc: mv: reset date if after year 2038
Dates after January, 19th 2038 are badly handled by userspace due to
the time being stored on 32 bits. This causes issues on some Marvell
platform on which the RTC is initialized by default to a date that's
beyond 2038, causing a really weird behavior of the RTC.

In order to avoid that, reset the date to a sane value if the RTC is
beyond 2038.

The largest part of this is a conversion of device registration for some
renesas shmobile/sh devices over to use resources. This has required
coordination with the corresponding arch/sh changes, and we've agreed
to merge the arch/sh changes through our tree.

Added in this branch is support for Trusted Foundations secure firmware,
which is what is used on many of the commercial Nvidia Tegra products
that are in the market, including the Nvidia Shield. The code is local
to arch/arm at this time since it's uncertain whether it will be shared
with arm64 longer-term, if needed we will refactor later.

A couple of new RTC drivers used on ARM boards, merged through our tree
on request by the RTC maintainer.

... plus a bunch of smaller updates across the board, gpio conversions

d643a49ae1 drivers/rtc/rtc-rx8581.c: add SMBus-only adapters support
Add support for SMBus-only adapters (e.g. i2c-piix4). The driver has
implemented only support for I2C adapters which implement the
I2C_FUNC_SMBUS_I2C_BLOCK functionality before.

With this patch it is possible to load and use the RTC driver with I2C and
SMBUS adapters like the rtc-ds1307 does.

75ea799df4 rtc: max8907: weekday encoding fixes
The current MAX8907 driver has two issues related to weekday value
handling:

1)

The HW WEEKDAY register has range 0..6 rather than 1..7 as documented.
Note that I validated the actual HW range by observing the HW register
roll from 6->0 rather than 6->7->1 as would otherwise be expected.

This matches Linux's tm_wday range of 0..6.

When the CMOS RAM content is lost, the date returned from the device is
2007-01-01 00:00:00, which is a Monday. The WEEKDAY register reads 1 in
this case. This matches the numbering in Linux's tm_wday field.

Hence we should write Linux's tm_wday value to the register without
modifying it. Hence, remove the +1/-1 calculations for WEEKDAY/tm_wday.

2)

There's no need to make alarms match on the WEEKDAY register, since the
other fields together uniquely define the alarm date/time. Ignoring the
WEEKDAY value in the match isolates the driver from any incorrect value in
the current time copy of the WEEKDAY register.

Each change individually, or both together, solves an issue that I
observed; "hwclock -r" would time out waiting for its alarm to fire if the
CMOS RAM content had been lost, and hence the WEEKDAY register value
mismatched what the driver expected it to be. "hwclock -w" would solve
this by over-writing the HW default WEEKDAY register value with what the
driver expected.

9d2b7e532d rtc: honor device tree /alias entries when assigning IDs
Assign RTC device IDs based on device tree /aliases entries if present,
falling back to the existing numbering scheme if there is no /aliases
entry (which includes when the system isn't booted using DT), or there is
a numbering conflict.

This is useful in systems with multiple RTC devices, to ensure that the
best RTC device is selected as /dev/rtc0, which provides the overall
system time.

For example, Tegra has an on-SoC RTC that is not battery backed, typically
coupled with an off-SoC RTC that is battery backed. Only the latter is
useful for populating the system time, yet the former is useful e.g. for
wakeup timing, since the time is not lost when the system is sleeps.

d5a1c7e3fc rtc-cmos: Add an alarm disable quirk
41c7f74242 ("rtc: Disable the alarm in the hardware (v2)") added the
functionality to disable the RTC wake alarm when shutting down the box.

However, there are at least two b0rked BIOSes we know about:

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=812592
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=805740

where, when wakeup alarm is enabled in the BIOS, the machine reboots
automatically right after shutdown, regardless of what wakeup time is
programmed.

Bisecting the issue lead to this patch so disable its functionality with
a DMI quirk only for those boxes.

3e1e4a5f3a mfd/rtc: s5m: fix register updating by adding regmap for RTC
Rename old regmap field of "struct sec_pmic_dev" to "regmap_pmic" and
add new regmap for RTC.

On S5M8767A registers were not properly updated and read due to usage of

e.g. in infinite loop during waiting for UDR field change.

On this chip family the RTC has different I2C address than PMIC so

51a0d036f9 ARM: drivers/rtc/rtc-at91rm9200.c: disable interrupts at shutdown
Make sure RTC-interrupts are disabled at shutdown.

As the RTC is generally powered by backup power (VDDBU), its interrupts
are not disabled on wake-up, user, watchdog or software reset. This
could cause troubles on other systems (e.g. older kernels) if an
interrupt occurs before a handler has been installed at next boot.

Let us be well-behaved and disable them on clean shutdowns at least (as
do the RTT-based rtc-at91sam9 driver).

85d0b3a573 alpha: Reorganize rtc handling
Discontinue use of GENERIC_CMOS_UPDATE; rely on the RTC subsystem.

The marvel platform requires that the rtc only be touched from the
boot cpu. This had been partially implemented with hooks for
get/set_rtc_time, but read/update_persistent_clock were not handled.
Move the hooks from the machine_vec to a special rtc_class_ops struct.

We had read_persistent_clock managing the epoch against which the
rtc hw is based, but this didn't apply to get_rtc_time or set_rtc_time.
This resulted in incorrect values when hwclock(8) gets involved.

Allow the epoch to be set from the kernel command-line, overriding
the autodetection, which is doomed to fail in 2020. Further, by
implementing the rtc ioctl function, we can expose this epoch to
userland.

Elide the alarm functions that RTC_DRV_CMOS implements. This was
highly questionable on Alpha, since the interrupt is used by the
system timer.

05454c26eb intel_mid: Renamed *mrst* to *intel_mid*
Following files contains code that is common to all intel mid
soc's. So renamed them as below.

mrst/mrst.c              -> intel-mid/intel-mid.c
mrst/vrtc.c              -> intel-mid/intel_mid_vrtc.c
mrst/early_printk_mrst.c -> intel-mid/intel_mid_vrtc.c
pci/mrst.c               -> pci/intel_mid_pci.c

Also, renamed the corresponding header files and made changes
to the driver files that included these header files.

To ensure that there are no functional changes, I have compared
the objdump of renamed files before and after rename and found
that the only difference is file name change.

07783397c6 rtc: rtc-pl031: Set wakeup flag prior to registering rtcdev
In some recent testing, I noticed the CLOCK_REALTIME_ALARM clockid
wasn't functioning on my vexpress qemu environment. Looking into it
I noticed the pl031 rtc driver doesn't set the wakeup flag on the
device until after registering the device with the RTC subsystem.

This causes the alarmtimer subsystem to not see the pl031 driver
as a valid backing device, and that resuls in alarm clockids
getting ENOTSUPP errors.

Thus be sure to set the wakeup flag on the device prior to
registering the rtcdev so the pl031 rtc driver can be used as
the backing alarmtimer device.

7c1d69ee11 rtc: simplify devm_request_mem_region/devm_ioremap
Convert the composition of devm_request_mem_region and devm_ioremap to a
single call to devm_ioremap_resource. The associated call to
platform_get_resource is also simplified and moved next to the new call
to devm_ioremap_resource.

This was done using a combination of the semantic patches
devm_ioremap_resource.cocci and devm_request_and_ioremap.cocci, found in
the scripts/coccinelle/api directory.

In rtc-lpc32xx.c and rtc-mv.c, the local variable size is no longer needed.

In rtc-ds1511.c the size field of the local structure is not useful any
more, and is deleted.

28a0c88312 drivers/rtc/rtc-stmp3xxx.c: provide timeout for potentially endless loop polling a HW bit
It's always a bad idea to poll on HW bits without a timeout.

The i.MX28 RTC can be easily brought into a state in which the RTC is

which are polled in the driver won't ever change.
