a466743961 ARM: BCM63xx: remove useless goto statement
Between the 'goto out' statement and the 'out' label there are no other

  - Support is added for i.MXRT10xx, a Cortex-M7 based microcontroller
from NXP. At the moment this is still incomplete as other portions
    are merged through different trees.

  - Long abandoned support for running NOMMU ARMv4 or ARMv5 platforms
gets removed, now the Arm NOMMU platforms are limited to the
    Cortex-M family of microcontrollers

  - Two old PXA boards get removed, along with corresponding driver
    bits.

  - Continued cleanup of the Intel IXP4xx platforms, removing some
remnants of the old board files.

  - Minor Cleanups and fixes for Orion, PXA, MMP, Mstar, Samsung

  - CPU idle support for AT91

2f618d5ef5 ARM: remove support for NOMMU ARMv4/v5
It is possible to build MMU-less kernels for Cortex-M base
microcrontrollers as well as a couple of older platforms that
have not been converted to CONFIG_ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM,
specifically ep93xx, footbridge, dove, sa1100 and s3c24xx.

It seems unlikely that anybody has tested those configurations
in recent years, as even building them is frequently broken.
A patch I submitted caused another build time regression
in this configuration. I sent a patch for that, but it seems
better to also remove the option entirely, leaving ARMv7-M
as the only supported Arm NOMMU target for simplicity.

A couple of platforms have dependencies on CONFIG_MMU, those
can all be removed now. Notably, mach-integrator tries to
support MMU-less CPU cores, but those have not actually been
selectable for a long time.

This addresses several build failures in randconfig builds that
have accumulated over the years.

64dff07b1c ARM: mach-bcm: disable ftrace in SMC invocation routines
The SMC calling convention uses R7 as an argument register, which
conflicts with its use as a frame pointer when building in Thumb2 mode.

disabled, let's omit this compilation unit from ftrace instrumentation.

and arch-specific pfn_valid() implementation that also deals with the holes
in the memory map.

The only two users of memmap_valid_within() call this function after
a call to pfn_valid() so the memmap_valid_within() check becomes redundant.

Remove CONFIG_ARCH_HAS_HOLES_MEMORYMODEL and memmap_valid_within() and rely
entirely on ARM's implementation of pfn_valid() that is now enabled
unconditionally.

Support for Broadcom SoCs depends on ARCH_MULTI_V6_V7, and thus on
ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM, which selects PCI_DOMAINS_GENERIC and TIMER_OF.
Support for the various Broadcom IPROC architected SoCs depends on
ARCH_MULTI_V7, which selects HAVE_SMP.
Hence there is no need for the Broadcom-specific symbols to select any

59034b9d6a ARM: bcm: Add missing sentinel to bcm2711_compat[]
commit 781fa0a954 ("ARM: bcm: Add support for BCM2711 SoC")

breaks boot of many other platforms (e.g. OMAP or i.MX6) if
CONFIG_ARCH_BCM2835 is enabled in addition to some multiplatform
config (e.g. omap2plus_defconfig). The symptom is that the OMAP
based board does not show any activity beyond "Starting Kernel ..."
even with earlycon.

Reverting the mentioned commit makes it work again.

The real fix is to add the missing NULL sentinel to the
bcm2711_compat[] variable-length array.

3fe1ee40b2 ARM: use arch_extension directive instead of arch argument
The LLVM Target parser currently does not allow to specify the security
extension as part of -march (see also LLVM Bug 40186 [0]). When trying
to use Clang with LLVM's integrated assembler, this leads to build
errors such as this:
clang-8: error: the clang compiler does not support '-Wa,-march=armv7-a+sec'

Use ".arch_extension sec" to enable the security extension in a more
portable fasion. Also make sure to use ".arch armv7-a" in case a v6/v7
multi-platform kernel is being built.

Note that this is technically not exactly the same as the old code
checked for availabilty of the security extension by calling as-instr.
However, there are already other sites which use ".arch_extension sec"
unconditionally, hence de-facto we need an assembler capable of
".arch_extension sec" already today (arch/arm/mm/proc-v7.S). The
arch extension "sec" is available since binutils 2.21 according to
its documentation [1].

2eac9c2dfb PCI: consolidate the PCI_DOMAINS and PCI_DOMAINS_GENERIC config options
Move the definitions to drivers/pci and let the architectures select
them. Two small differences to before: PCI_DOMAINS_GENERIC now selects
PCI_DOMAINS, cutting down the churn for modern architectures. As the
only architectured arm did previously also offer PCI_DOMAINS as a user
visible choice in addition to selecting it from the relevant configs,
this is gone now.

925d31668d PCI: controller: Move PCI_DOMAINS selection to arch Kconfig
Commit 51bc085d64 ("PCI: Improve host drivers compile test coverage")
added configuration options to allow PCI host controller drivers to be
compile tested on all architectures.

Some host controller drivers (eg PCIE_ALTERA) config entries select the
PCI_DOMAINS config option to enable PCI domains management in the kernel.
Now that host controller drivers can be compiled on all architectures, this
triggers build regressions on arches that do not implement the PCI_DOMAINS
required API (ie pci_domain_nr()):

  drivers/ata/pata_ali.c: In function 'ali_init_chipset':
drivers/ata/pata_ali.c:469:38: error: implicit declaration of function 'pci_domain_nr'; did you mean 'pci_iomap_wc'?

Furthemore, some software configurations (ie Jailhouse) require a
PCI_DOMAINS enabled kernel to configure multiple host controllers without
having an explicit dependency on the ARM platform on which they run.

Make PCI_DOMAINS a visible configuration option on ARM so that software
configurations that need it can manually select it and move the PCI_DOMAINS
selection from PCI controllers configuration file to ARM sub-arch config
entries that currently require it, fixing the issue.

4965a68780 arch: define the ARCH_DMA_ADDR_T_64BIT config symbol in lib/Kconfig
Define this symbol if the architecture either uses 64-bit pointers or the
PHYS_ADDR_T_64BIT is set. This covers 95% of the old arch magic. We only
need an additional select for Xen on ARM (why anyway?), and we now always
set ARCH_DMA_ADDR_T_64BIT on mips boards with 64-bit physical addressing
instead of only doing it when highmem is set.

drivers or features that people have started using. For the changed
lines lines, we have mostly cleanups, the affected platforms are
OMAP, Versatile, EP93xx, Samsung, Broadcom, i.MX, and Actions.

The largest single change is the introduction of the TI "sysc" bus
driver, with the intention of cleaning up more legacy code.

Two new SoC platforms get added this time:
 - Allwinner R40 is a modernized version of the A20 chip, now
with a Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A7. According to the manufacturer,
it is intended for "Smart Hardware"
 - Broadcom Hurricane 2 (Aka Strataconnect BCM5334X) is a family
of chips meant for managed gigabit ethernet switches, based
   around a Cortex-A9 CPU.

Finally, we gain SMP support for two platforms: Renesas R-Car E2
and Amlogic Meson8/8b, which were previously added but only supported
 uniprocessor operation.
