Most users of ndo_do_ioctl are ethernet drivers that implement
the MII commands SIOCGMIIPHY/SIOCGMIIREG/SIOCSMIIREG, or hardware
timestamping with SIOCSHWTSTAMP/SIOCGHWTSTAMP.
Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to
implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands.
This is a purely cosmetic change intended to help readers find
their way through the implementation.

The section "19) Editor modelines and other cruft" in
Documentation/process/coding-style.rst clearly says, "Do not include any
of these in source files."
I recently receive a patch to explicitly add a new one.
Let's do treewide cleanups, otherwise some people follow the existing code
and attempt to upstream their favoriate editor setups.
It is even nicer if scripts/checkpatch.pl can check it.
If we like to impose coding style in an editor-independent manner, I think
editorconfig (patch [1]) is a saner solution.

Remove legacy PM callbacks and use generic operations. With legacy code,
drivers were responsible for handling PCI PM operations like
pci_save_state(). In generic code, all these are handled by PCI core.
The generic suspend() and resume() are called at the same point the legacy
ones were called. Thus, it does not affect the normal functioning of the
driver.

Even though the port autoselection is enabled by default on AM79C970A,
BNC/AUI port does not work because the link is always reported to be
down. The link state reported by the chip belongs only to the TP port
but the driver uses it regardless of the port used. The chip can't
detect BNC/AUI link state.
Disable port autoselection and use TP port by default to keep current
behavior (link detection works on TP port, BNC/AUI port does not work).
Implement ethtool autoneg, port and duplex configuration to allow
using the BNC/AUI port.
Report the TP link state only if the TP port is selected. When the
port autoselection is enabled or AUI port is selected, report the link
as always up.

With centralized MTU checking, there's nothing productive done by
eth_change_mtu that isn't already done in dev_set_mtu, so mark it as
deprecated and remove all usage of it in the kernel. All callers have been
audited for calls to alloc_etherdev* or ether_setup directly, which means
they all have a valid dev->min_mtu and dev->max_mtu. Now eth_change_mtu
prints out a netdev_warn about being deprecated, for the benefit of
out-of-tree drivers that might be utilizing it.
Of note, dvb_net.c actually had dev->mtu = 4096, while using
eth_change_mtu, meaning that if you ever tried changing it's mtu, you
couldn't set it above 1500 anymore. It's now getting dev->max_mtu also set
to 4096 to remedy that.

Conflicts:
drivers/net/ethernet/emulex/benet/be_main.c
net/core/sysctl_net_core.c
net/ipv4/inet_diag.c
The be_main.c conflict resolution was really tricky. The conflict
hunks generated by GIT were very unhelpful, to say the least. It
split functions in half and moved them around, when the real actual
conflict only existed solely inside of one function, that being
be_map_pci_bars().
So instead, to resolve this, I checked out be_main.c from the top
of net-next, then I applied the be_main.c changes from 'net' since
the last time I merged. And this worked beautifully.
The inet_diag.c and sysctl_net_core.c conflicts were simple
overlapping changes, and were easily to resolve.

On a MIPS Malta board, tons of fifo underflow errors have been observed
when using u-boot as bootloader instead of YAMON. The reason for that
is that YAMON used to set the pcnet device to SRAM mode but u-boot does
not. As a result, the default Tx threshold (64 bytes) is now too small to
keep the fifo relatively used and it can result to Tx fifo underflow errors.
As a result of which, it's best to setup the SRAM on supported controllers
so we can always use the NOUFLO bit.

mii_check_media() does not update the link (carrier) state or log link
changes when the link mode is forced. Drivers using the mii library
must do this themselves, but most of them do not.
Instead of changing them all, provide a sensible default behaviour
similar to mii_check_link() when the mode is forced.
