Allow handlers to declare their capabilities and allow clients to
obtain that information. So far we have these use cases:
* If the handler is able to switch DDC separately, clients need to
probe EDID with drm_get_edid_switcheroo(). We should allow them
to detect a capable handler to ensure this function only gets
called when needed.
* Likewise if the handler is unable to switch AUX separately, the active
client needs to communicate link training parameters to the inactive
client, which may then skip the AUX handshake and set up its output
with these pre-calibrated values (DisplayPort specification v1.1a,
section 2.5.3.3). Clients need a way to recognize such a situation.
The flags for the radeon_atpx_handler and amdgpu_atpx_handler are
initially set to 0, this can later on be amended with
handler_flags |= VGA_SWITCHEROO_CAN_SWITCH_DDC;
when a ->switch_ddc callback is added.

For reading and writing guest user space buffers, currently the kernel
sends the guest virtual address of the buffer to the pipe device. This
virtual address has to be first converted to a guest physical address.
Doing this translation on the QEMU side is inefficient and requires
additional handling when KVM is enabled, whose implementation would
either incur intrusive changes to QEMU's KVM support code or suffer
from poor performance, see commit 08c7228c50f8 ("x86-kvm: only sync
SREGS when doing address translation") of $AOSP/external/qemu for
details, and thus should be avoided if possible.
There is a TODO comment in hw/misc/android_pipe.c in the new Android
emulator source tree ($AOSP/external/qemu-android) which requests that
the translation be done on the kernel side and that physical addresses
be passed to the device instead of virtual ones. Once the QEMU-side
implementation is done, the kernel will need to support both the new
paddr-based pipe device and the old vaddr-based one (which will
continue to be used by the classic emulator). This patch achieves that
by leveraging the device version register available in the new device.
See https://android-review.googlesource.com/128280 for the QEMU-side
patch.

On PIPE_ERROR_AGAIN, just stopping in the middle of a transfer and
returning the number of bytes actually handled is the right behavior.
Other errors should be returned on the next read() or write() call.
Continue logging those until we confirm nothing actually relies on the

The existing code had a troubling TODO statement concerning the fact
that it just did a check if the page that the QEMU backend was going to
read from / write to was there before the call to the QEMU backend and
then relying on the fact that the page stayed around, even in a
preemptible SMP kernel. Obviously the page could go away or be
reassigned, and strange things may happen.
Further, writes were not tracked, so any use of COW or KSM-like
features would break completely. Probably that was never used by adbd
(the only current active user of the pipe), but could prove much more
dangerous for the GPU passthrough mechanism.
Instead, use get_user_pages() as the comment suggested and cleanup the
error path and add the set_page_dirt() call on a successful read
operation.
Also clarify the count used to return from successful read/write calls
and use Linux style commentary in various places of the file.
Note: The "just ignore error and return whatever we read so far" error
handling is really quite horrific. I cannot change it without a more
careful study of all user space ABIs reliance on this 'feature'.

Pull more power management and ACPI updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"This includes fixes on top of the previous batch of PM+ACPI updates
and some new material as well.
From the new material perspective the most significant are the driver
core changes that should allow USB devices to stay suspended over
system suspend/resume cycles if they have been runtime-suspended
already beforehand. Apart from that, ACPICA is updated to upstream
revision 20160108 (cosmetic mostly, but including one fixup on top of
the previous ACPICA update) and there are some devfreq updates the
didn't make it before (due to timing).
A few recent regressions are fixed, most importantly in the cpuidle
menu governor and in the ACPI backlight driver and some x86 platform
drivers depending on it.

BIOS/ACPI on devices with WMI interface version 0 does not clear buffer
before filling it. So next time when BIOS/ACPI send WMI event which is
smaller as previous then it contains garbage in buffer from previous event.
BIOS/ACPI on devices with WMI interface version 1 clears buffer and
sometimes send more events in buffer at one call.
Since commit 83fc44c32a ("dell-wmi: Update code for processing WMI
events") dell-wmi process all events in buffer (and not just first).
To prevent reading garbage from the buffer we process only the first
event on devices with WMI interface version 0.

Some Asus notebooks like the Asus E202SA and the Asus X555UB have a
separate ACPI device for notifications from the airplane mode hotkey.
This device is called "Wireless Radio Control" in Asus websites and ASHS
in the DSDT, and its ACPI _HID is ATK4002 in the two models mentioned
above.
For these models, when the airplane mode hotkey (Fn+F2) is pressed, a
query 0x0B is started in the Embedded Controller, and all this query does
is a notify ASHS with the value 0x88 (for acpi_osi >= "Windows 2012"):

If DMI lists a hotkey that we don't recognize, log and ignore it

but it will help maintain the key map in the future and it will help
avoid sending bogus events.
This also improves the message that we log when we get an unknown key

Certain Toshiba models with the second generation keyboard backlight
(type 2) do not generate the keyboard backlight changed event (0x92),
and thus, the sysfs entries are never being updated.
This patch adds a workquee and a global boolean variable to address
the issue.
For those models that do generate the event, the sysfs entries are
being updated via the *notify function and the boolean is set to
true to avoid a second call to update the entries.
For those models that do not generate the event, the workquee is
used to update the sysfs entries and also to emulate the event via
netlink, to make userspace aware of such change.

Infrastructural changes:
- In struct gpio_chip, rename the .dev node to .parent to better reflect
the fact that this is not the GPIO struct device abstraction. We will
add that soon so this would be totallt confusing.
- It was noted that the driver .get_value() callbacks was
sometimes reporting negative -ERR values to the gpiolib core, expecting
them to be propagated to consumer gpiod_get_value() and gpio_get_value()
calls. This was not happening, so as there was a mess of drivers
returning negative errors and some returning "anything else than zero"
to indicate that a line was active. As some would have bit 31 set to
indicate "line active" it clashed with negative error codes. This is
fixed by the largeish series clamping values in all drivers with
!!value to [0,1] and then augmenting the code to propagate error codes
to consumers. (Includes some ACKed patches in other subsystems.)
- Add a void *data pointer to struct gpio_chip. The container_of() design
pattern is indeed very nice, but we want to reform the struct gpio_chip
to be a non-volative, stateless business, and keep states internal to
the gpiolib to be able to hold on to the state when adding a proper
userspace ABI (character device) further down the road. To achieve this,
drivers need a handle at the internal state that is not dependent on
their struct gpio_chip() so we add gpiochip_add_data() and
gpiochip_get_data() following the pattern of many other subsystems.
All the "use gpiochip data pointer" patches transforms drivers to this
scheme.
- The Generic GPIO chip header has been merged into the general
<linux/gpio/driver.h> header, and the custom header for that removed.
Instead of having a separate mm_gpio_chip struct for these generic
drivers, merge that into struct gpio_chip, simplifying the code and
removing the need for separate and confusing includes.
Misc improvements:
- Stabilize the way GPIOs are looked up from the ACPI legacy
specification.
- Incremental driver features for PXA, PCA953X, Lantiq (patches from the
OpenWRT community), RCAR, Zynq, PL061, 104-idi-48
New drivers:
- Add a GPIO chip to the ALSA SoC AC97 driver.
- Add a new Broadcom NSP SoC driver (this lands in the pinctrl dir, but
the branch is merged here too to account for infrastructural changes).
- The sx150x driver now supports the sx1502.

Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij:
"Here is the bulk of GPIO changes for v4.5.
Notably there are big refactorings mostly by myself, aimed at getting
the gpio_chip into a shape that makes me believe I can proceed to
preserve state for a proper userspace ABI (character device) that has
already been proposed once, but resulted in the feedback that I need
to go back and restructure stuff. So I've been restructuring stuff.
On the way I ran into brokenness (return code from the get_value()
callback) and had to fix it. Also, refactored generic GPIO to be
simpler.
Some of that is still waiting to trickle down from the subsystems all
over the kernel that provide random gpio_chips, I've touched every
single GPIO driver in the kernel now, oh man I didn't know I was
responsible for so much...
Apart from that we're churning along as usual.
I took some effort to test and retest so it should merge nicely and we
shook out a couple of bugs in -next.

collaboratively reverse-engineer its remaining unknown bits
without everyone having to start from scratch.
The DOC sections are bound together in the gpu.tmpl DocBook

this should be amended with documentation about the four other

Some of the remaining open questions:
* How are vblank intervals synchronized on retinas to achieve seamless
switching? Is the DP mux capable of this? It's not mentioned in the
data sheets. Or is it done at the OS level, i.e. do we have to
synchronize vblank intervals between DRM drivers? There's a signal
coming from the panel connector and going into gmux, could this be
the vblank signal as received by the panel to properly time the
switch?
* On retinas there's an I2C bus between gmux and the connector of the
right I/O board, apparently leading to the Parade PS8401A HDMI
repeater. What is this for, is it controlled via gmux registers?
Data sheet:
http://www.paradetech.com/products/jitter-cleaning-repeaters/ps8401/
* On retinas there's an I2C bus between gmux and the LED driver.
Pre-retinas connected the LED driver to SMBUS. Are there additional
gmux registers on retinas to control it?
* The MacPro6,1 2013 also has a gmux, the same Renesas R4F2113 as the
retina MacBook Pro. The Mac Pro doesn't have a built-in display,
so what is its purpose? Power control of the dual FirePro GPUs?
Switching of the external DP/Thunderbolt ports? The iFixit teardown
clearly shows one TI HD3SS212 DisplayPort mux on the logic board next
to one of the three Thunderbolt controllers. However six muxes would
be necessary to switch all six ports between GPUs. The mux is probably
necessary for one of the display configurations allowed by Apple,
but which one?

* Registers we haven't decoded yet:
0x700 32 Bit configmap?
0x708 32 Bit power sequence?
0x712 8 Bit status of clock from panel on retinas?
0x713 8 Bit dito?
0x724 16 Bit backlight, raw value?
0x760 32 Bit backlight

* Addition by Bruno Prémont <bonbons@linux-vserver.org>:
"Missing is also precise knowledge as to what the gmux depends on.
From behavioral reports, it is somehow sensitive to VGA IO/MEM
routing (it apparently needs the routing to go to integrated GPU,
not discrete GPU).
When the routing is inappropriate backlight control IO just reads back
as 0xFF (and eventually gmux IO in general does so)."

The name .dev in a struct is normally reserved for a struct device
that is let us say a superclass to the thing described by the struct.
struct gpio_chip stands out by confusingly using a struct device *dev
to point to the parent device (such as a platform_device) that
represents the hardware. As we want to give gpio_chip:s real devices,
this is not working. We need to rename this member to parent.
This was done by two coccinelle scripts, I guess it is possible to
combine them into one, but I don't know such stuff. They look like
this:
@@
struct gpio_chip *var;
@@
-var->dev
+var->parent
and:
@@

Here's the branch of chrome platform changes for v4.4. Some have been queued
up for the full 4.3 release cycle since I forgot to send them in for that
round (rebased early on to deal with fixes conflicts).
Most of these enable EC communication stuff -- Pixel 2015 support, enabling
building for ARM64 platforms, and a few fixes for memory leaks.
There's also a patch in here to allow reading/writing the verified boot
context, which depends on a sysfs patch acked by Greg.

The asus_wmi_get_devstate_simple() returns 0-1 on success. In theory
according to static checkers, it can return either -EIO or -ENODEV on
failure. Currently the error handling code only handles -ENODEV and
-EIO is treated as success. Let's make it handle the -EIO error as
well.
It's possible that it can't actually return -EIO and this patch is not
needed but in that case this patch is harmless and silences a static
checker warning so it's still worth it.

This changes the entry to the whitelist of machines that do not have
a physical rfkill switch. Unfortunately, the Yoga 3 generation seems
to use upper-case letters for the YOGA 3 Pro-1370, while it uses normal
capitalization for its Yoga 3 1170 and 1470 siblings.
In order to catch all variants of the Yoga 3, I'm changing both
the entry for the 1470 (using "Yoga" as the name) and the entry for
the Pro 1370 (using all-caps "YOGA") to not match the exact model number
but only the generation. This way, the 1170 and 1470 models share one
entry, but if the firmware changes from one format to the other, it will
still work.
The second entry for Yoga 2 Pro that was recently added for some
reason ended up not being added in alphanumeric order, and I'm
moving the Yoga 3 1470 entry down while making the change, so they
are sorted more logically.

The ideapad-laptop handles most special keys on various Lenovo Laptops
including the Yoga line. Unfortunately, the Yoga 3 11/13/14 models have
one important exception, which is the Fn-ESC combination.
On other Lenovo Laptops, this is FnLock, which switches the function keys
between the primary (Mute, Vol down, Vol up, ...) and the secondary (F1,
F2, F3, ...) behavior. On the new machines, FnLock is only available
through BIOS setup (possibly through a yet-to-be-implemented feature
in this driver) but not through Fn-ESC, but instead the ESC key itself
switched between ESC and a "Paper Display" app for Windows.
Unfortunately, that means that you can never have both ESC *and* the
function keys working at the same time without needing to press Fn on
one of them.
As pointed out in the official Lenovo Forum by dozens of users, this
makes the machine rather useless for any serious work [1].
I have now studied the ACPI DSDT one more time and found the event
that is generated for the ESC key. Unlike all other key events on this
machine, it is actually a WMI, while the other ones are read from the
embedded controller.
I am now installing a WMI notifier that uses the event number from the
WMI subsystem as the scancode. The only event number generated here is
'128', and that fits in nicely with the two existing ranges of scancodes
used by the EC: 0-15 for the 16-bit VPCCMD_R_VPC register, 16-17 for
the VPCCMD_R_NOVO register and 64-67 for VPCCMD_R_SPECIAL_BUTTONS.
The only sane way to handle this button (in absence of the Windows Paper
Display driver) seems to be to have it emit KEY_ESC, so that is what
I use as the default. Should any user ever want to overwrite the default,
they can install their own keymap.
To ensure that we can still build the driver without adding a CONFIG_WMI
dependency, all new code is enclosed in #ifdef.

The ChromeOS EC LPC and chardev drivers depend on CROS_EC_PROTO but
MFD_CROS_EC select CROS_EC_PROTO instead. Mixing select and depends
on is bad practice as it may lead to circular Kconfig dependencies.
Since the platform devices that are matched with these drivers are
registered by the ChromeOS EC mfd driver, they really depend on
MFD_CROS_EC. And because this config option selects CROS_EC_PROTO,
that dependency is met as well. So make the drivers to depend on
MFD_CROS_EC instead of CROS_EC_PROTO.

This reverts commit d12bbcd3ea ("platform/chrome: Don't make
CHROME_PLATFORMS depends on X86 || ARM") since it was found to
not be the correct fix for the MFD_CROS_EC config unmet direct
dependencies warning.
The correct solution was to add the needed dependencies to the
MFD_CROS_EC symbol. Besides the revert, this patch extends the
CHROME_PLATFORMS symbol dependencies and adds || COMPILE_TEST
to allow drivers to have build coverage on other architectures.

Since v3.0 kernel, acer-wmi driver auto detects internal 3G device and
provides the threeg rfkill interface. So the sysfs interface of 3G is
no longer necessary now.
The 7b8aca65 patch added kernel information log to remind to user space
for the threeg sysfs interface will be removed in 2012, then b58b9ffc patch
updated the interface removing time to 2014.
I think the 3 years lead time is enough for user space application to use
rfkill instead of sysfs interface to control 3G device.
This patch removes code about threeg sysfs interface. And it also removes the
unused interface sysfs that exposes which ACPI-WMI method used by acer-wmi
driver on the machine. The information is already exposed by the acer-wmi
initial log.

Toshiba laptops that feature WMI events for hotkeys were left unsupported
by the toshiba_acpi driver, however, commit a88bc06e5a ("toshiba_acpi:
Avoid registering input device on WMI event laptops") added hardware
support for such laptops, but the hotkeys are not handled there.
This driver adds support for hotkey monitoring on certain Toshiba laptops
that manage the hotkeys via WMI events instead of the Toshiba
Configuration Interface (TCI).
The toshiba_acpi driver and this one can co-exist, as this only takes
care of hotkeys, while the proper takes care of hardware related stuff.
Currently the driver is under the EXPERIMENTAL flag, as the keymap
and the notify function are incomplete (due to lack of hardware to test).

The IRQF_NO_SUSPEND flag is used to identify the interrupts that should
be left enabled so as to allow them to work as expected during the
suspend-resume cycle, but doesn't guarantee that it will wake the system
from a suspended state, enable_irq_wake is recommended to be used for
the wakeup.
This patch removes the use of IRQF_NO_SUSPEND flags and uses newly
introduce PM wakeup APIs dev_pm_{set,clear}_wake_irq.

Add charge control limit to the power supply subsystem of the Compal
platform driver.
This apparently was present in the original driver by Cezary Jackiewicz
at http://eko.one.pl/index.php?page=compal-laptop but it seems to have been
overlooked.
The Kconfig description is updated to reflect this addition. It now also
mentions the hwmon interface that was already present.

The function toshiba_acpi_setup_keyboard currently has two u32 variables
used to store the Hotkey Event Type and the result of the HCI_SYSTEM_EVENT
query.
This patch removes those two variables, as we already have a global
variable named "hotkey_event_type" and the result of the HCI_SYSTEM_EVENT
query can be checked directly from the function.

This patch adds the 0x prefix to the values printed by such function, the
values are already being printed in hex, but without the prefix, causing
confusion, even though the file under Documentation/ABI clearly states
that hey are hex values.
Simply add the 0x prefix to avoid such confusion.

The driver currently uses the hotkey enabling value of 0x09 to enable
hotkey events, but windows uses a different value (0x01).
All Toshiba laptops accept the following "hotkey" parameters:
0x01 - Enable hotkey and system events.
0x03 - Enable system events only.
0x09 - Enable hotkey events only.
0x0b - Disable (hotkey and system) events.
This patch changes the default hotkey enabling value from 0x09 to 0x01,
enabling both the hotkey and system events.
