Registering Numark Party Mix II fails with error 'bogus bTerminalLink 1'.
The problem stems from the driver not being able to find input/output
terminals required to configure audio streaming. The information about
those terminals is stored in AudioControl Interface. Numark device
contains 2 AudioControl Interfaces and the driver checks only one of them.
According to the USB standard, a device can have multiple audio functions,
each represented by Audio Interface Collection. Every audio function is
considered to be closed box and will contain unique AudioControl Interface
and zero or more AudioStreaming and MIDIStreaming Interfaces.
The Numark device adheres to the standard and defines two audio functions:
- MIDIStreaming function
- AudioStreaming function
It starts with MIDI function, followed by the audio function. The driver
saves the first AudioControl Interface in `snd_usb_audio` structure
associated with the entire device. It then attempts to use this interface
to query for terminals and clocks. However, this fails because the correct
information is stored in the second AudioControl Interface, defined in the
second Audio Interface Collection.
This patch introduces a structure holding association between each
MIDI/Audio Interface and its corresponding AudioControl Interface,
instead of relying on AudioControl Interface defined for the entire
device. This structure is populated during usb probing phase and leveraged
later when querying for terminals and when sending USB requests.
Alternative solutions considered include:
- defining a quirk for Numark where the order of interface is manually
changed, or terminals are hardcoded in the driver. This solution would
have fixed only this model, though it seems that device is USB compliant,
and it also seems that other devices from this company may be affected.
What's more, it looks like products from other manufacturers have similar
problems, i.e. Rane One DJ console
- keeping a list of all AudioControl Interfaces and querying all of them
to find required information. That would have solved my problem and have
low probability of breaking other devices, as we would always start with
the same logic of querying first AudioControl Interface. This solution
would not have followed the standard though.
This patch preserves the `snd_usb_audio.ctrl_intf` variable, which holds
the first AudioControl Interface, and uses it as a fallback when some
interfaces are not parsed correctly and lack an associated AudioControl
Interface, i.e., when configured via quirks.

Wireless USB host controller support has been removed
from Linux Kernel more than 3 years ago in commit
caa6772db4 ("Staging: remove wusbcore and UWB from the
kernel tree."), and the associated code in the
snd-usb-audio driver became unused and untested.
If in the future somebody will return WUSB/UWB support
back to the kernel, the snd-usb-audio driver will reject
Wireless USB audio devices at probe stage, and this patch
should be reverted.

snd_usb_pipe_sanity_check() is a great function, so let's move it into
the USB core so that other parts of the kernel, including the USB core,
can call it.
Name it usb_pipe_type_check() to match the existing
usb_urb_ep_type_check() call, which now uses this function.

The recent USB core code performs sanity checks for the given pipe and
EP types, and it can be hit by manipulated USB descriptors by syzbot.
For making syzbot happier, this patch introduces a local helper for a
sanity check in the driver side and calls it at each place before the
message handling, so that we can avoid the WARNING splats.

Set the timeout for USB control set messages according to the USB 2
spec, using the macros from include/linux/usb.h.
The get timout becomes 5000 ms even though it is 500 ms in the
spec. This patch is required to run the Hercules RMX2 which needs a
timeout of 1240 ms.

I still distinguish between set and get but as long both are 5000 ms
GCC will remove it anyway. IMHO this is more easy read and there is no
need to explain why we use a get timeout for set messages.

Playback Designs' USB devices have some hardware limitations on their
USB interface. In particular:
- They need a 20ms delay after each class compliant request as the
hardware ACKs the USB packets before the device is actually ready
for the next command. Sending data immediately will result in buffer
overflows in the hardware.
- The devices send bogus feedback data at the start of each stream
which confuse the feedback format auto-detection.
This patch introduces a new quirks hook that is called after each
control packet and which adds a delay for all devices that match
Playback Designs' USB VID for now.
In addition, it adds a counter to snd_usb_endpoint to drop received
packets on the floor. Another new quirks function that is called once
an endpoint is started initializes that counter for these devices on
their sync endpoint.

There are certain devices that are reportedly so slow that they need
more than 100 ms to handle control transfers. Therefore, increase the
timeout in mixer(_quirks).c to 1000 ms.
The timeout parameter of snd_usb_ctl_msg() is now constant, so we can
drop it.

This is V2 of the patch, after feedback from Clemens and Daniel.
This patch adds SuperSpeed support to the USB drivers under sound/. It adds
tests for USB_SPEED_SUPER to the appropriate places that check for the USB
speed.
This patch has been tested with our SS USB3 device emulating a set of Yamaha
speakers and a Logitech microphone, but with the descriptors modified to add
USB3 support. It has also been tested with the real speakers and microphone,
to make sure that USB2 devices still work.

Clean up the usb audio driver by factoring out a lot of functions to
separate files. Code for procfs, quirks, urbs, format parsers etc all
got a new home now.
Moved almost all special quirk handling to quirks.c and introduced new
generic functions to handle them, so the exceptions do not pollute the
whole driver.
Renamed usbaudio.c to card.c because this is what it actually does now.
Renamed usbmidi.c to midi.c for namespace clarity.
Removed more things from usbaudio.h.
The non-standard drivers were adopted accordingly.
